I found Obey the Spray when I was getting ready for a trip to Cabo. I am really pale so I love spray tanning but it's really usually so expensive for an airbrush tan and I don't like the booths. I found them online and was really surprised that the cost was so low - 25.00 for a spray tan??? Well I booked and appointment and was greeted by a very friendly lady (maybe it was the owner?) - needless to say the color and scent of this spray tan was amazing. I found Marissa on Yelp,and after reading the reviews decided to give her a call. Marissa was so friendly,and immediately made me feel comfortable going to her. Obey the Spray is behind The Harp on 17 th street. Ive been to a few " well known" tanning salons for spray tans,and was not impressed with my orange,streaked,self. Obey the Spray is a small,clean,cozy,place,and Marissa made me feel real comfy. I am not a 20,30, or 40, something,but felt perfectly comfortable getting undressed for the situation. I've been coming here for two years and have never been disappointed. I've always been weary about spray tans because because of streaks and fear of looking like an oompa loompa so when I heard obey the spray had there own custom tanning spray I was intrigued. The place is super cute and the owner, Marissa, is the sweetest gal! The actual process of getting sprayed is thorough but quick, smells great, there is never an awkward or uncomfortable feeling with the choice of going nude or not, the price is very affordable and the best thing is the spray tan actually looks natural!! I normally get spray tanned at "Sugared and Bronzed" and I love the tan- however I was looking for a place closer to my house and this place had good yelp reviews so I gave it a shot.. I was able to walk-in with no appointment which I loved. The lady that did my spray tan was very welcoming, very bubbly and nice. So as far as customer service, they get 5 stars. As for the tan.. I got the 4 hour rapid rinse tan ( I get this same tan anywhere I go) and I was confident it would look good. Unfortunately it does not :( Upon completion of the tan, the solution was dripping in various parts of my body. When I looked at myself in the mirror I wanted to cry. I looked so dark and weird. I've never looked like this after a tan before. I wanted to rinse it off immediately but my boyfriend convinced me to let it set for an hour then rinse it off. Well I did that, and I'm orange. The tan is uneven on my hands, some parts are white and some are orange. I really wanted this place to work out for me but unfortunately I won't be back. I guess I'm going to be orange for the wedding I'm attending this weekend. read more

This place is great! Very friendly girls that work there and very clean as well which is always important. I've had an airbrush tan before but this was my first time going here so I was a little nervous as to what the results would be (some salons use different spray solutions). I'm going to a Halloween party in LA this weekend and obviously wanted it to come out looking as perfect and natural as possible. I was told I need to wipe off my wrists and heels with baby wipes when I got home so it wouldn't get too dark in those spots but I didn't have any wipes on hand so I just used a make-up remover cloth and just barely touched the surface of my skin because I was nervous it would take too much off and I would have white spots and it still turned out looking so good. Although, I've never been told to do this before after an airbrush spray. Word of advise: if you ever need to get streaks off just use hydrogen peroxide on a q-tip or cotton ball and dab/gently rub the area that you need to blend in. I just maybe could have exfoliated a little better around my ankles but other than that I'm very pleased with the results. I got a mixture between medium and dark and I have to say that I probably could have just done the medium but this med/dark mixture is still a very nice color. Not TOO dark and not TOO light. Just perfect! I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend and being that it was only $25 for just one session, (yes, you heard right, only $25!) I will definitely be returning there myself. read more

I love this place!! My best friend owns a custom airbrush spray tan business in Venice, but I live in Newport Beach so I can't always get to her when I need a quick spray. I've become very particular after being spoiled by her for years, and I've tried a few others but always left disappointed. Then I found OTS about a year ago. They are my go-to spot!! Just saw them again right before going to Vegas and I'm so happy with they way the tan turned out, as I am every time. I was evenly sprayed from head to toe and the color looks FANTASTIC!! All of my friends were asking where I had been that I had gotten so tan- they assumed I had been in Hawaii or somewhere, no one thought to ask if it was a spray!! I felt great all weekend, and now home from Vegas and still looking great in my tan. The ladies here are very welcoming and make you feel comfortable right away. I've had a few different technicians, and they go through the same routine no matter who it is. The consistency of the staff and the solution give ma a great spray every time. I cannot say enough about this place- i LOVE it. I have really dry skin with eczema patches and it has been the only custom spray tan (and i've tried a lot) that has come out evenly. There is nothing worse than a bad smelling spray tan... this stuff is amazing. My boyfriend even loves the smell. The best part about it, is the price. I returned today from a short trip to California. I am from the northern rocky mountains and due to the nine months of winter I endure, I am usually very very pale! I do not tan, I burn! I came across Marissa and her wonderful business on my third day in California. She sprayed me and within twenty minutes of walking into Obey the Spray I looked as if I had been living in California my entire life! I feel great and look great. I havnt been this tan since I was a child and I am loving it. The only problem I have now is that I live 1200 miles away from Marissa! You can not beat the value of the product, the proffesionalism of her staff, and her attention to detail and doing the job right, not to mention the price! I will certainly return in the future and would reccomend anybody to do the same. Heard about this place from my photographer and decided to come check it out before my next book cover photoshoot. I was not disappointed. The golden bronze color I achieved was marvelous as well as the sensuous smell of the tropics that reminded me of my days shooting along the shores of the Maldives. this place is great! i'm not a big spray tan person but after reading the reviews and the fact that it doesnt cost a arm and a leg i decided to go before i headed out to vegas due to this horrible tan line i had from my shorts... i came out 3 shades darker and i was just glowing... it was noticable. loved it! it's been almost a week and i'm still pretty tan! First timer and went based off reviews. Really nice and really quick but 12 hours later and I look orange and have long streaks down my legs. I just now showered 12 hours later too and went home and did nothing all night to avoid sweating or messing up my tan. Willing to give it another chance though due to good reviews and I like that it's organic. Not sure what happened with me since most reviews look great, hoping just a one time mishap. read more
