Dr Nkwonta is an excellent dentist. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. I have needed gum work, fillings, to be replaced, deep cleaning and a night guard and of course regular cleaning. His staff are friendly and competent. I highly recommend him and his staff. read more

DANGER! This dentist left the drill bit in my friends childs jaw bone!, Is refusing to remove it unless they pay several thousand dollars. They already paid more than couple thousand to this dentist for the original procedure, so noy they have to have the drill bit removed, and fix the tooth again. No child should have to go through this! NO stars would be a more accurate rating. read more

May/2/2013 continued. Found out today that Dr. Nkwonta billed my insurance for a cleaning of which I complained about when I left them. I was clear it was not a cleaning and I let them know I was no longer going to be using their services. I'm not even sure the dental Hygienist could see what she was doing as the dental light in that room didn't work and she wanted to switch rooms but there were none available. I spoke to Dr. Nkwonta today on the phone requesting that they reverse the cleaning charge on my insurance. He refused and was mad that i would yelp about his practice. Understanding customer services, there are a few things I have learned. The customer is always right. What is is worth to you when you know you have lost this customer to continue to defend the fact that the services you rendered on that given day was not sub par? It's far better to have an upset customers feel a small win and be done with it, then to try and push your point across. I'm sure Dr. Nkwonta has happy customers but the experience I had initially and then to have him get on the phone to tell me that I'm wrong and what I yelped about isn't true, is further insulting. read more

I would avoid this place just for the customer service. I called recently to explain that I had missed a previously scheduled because of an emergency and that the call was the first chance I had to contact them. Whoever answered the phone spent the next minute or so lecturing me about how I had inconvenienced him and other patients. This was after I had to reschedule because this same person called me and told me that an emergency came up with the dentist. I gladly obliged. I am so sorry that my mother had a heart attack on the day you had to reschedule me on. I hope I did not inconvenience you too much. read more

Avoid this practice. I was also a patient of Dr. Zantua, and was sad when she left, as hers was the only dental office I actually ever liked going to. I'd hoped the office atmosphere might stay the same after her departure. It didn't, unfortunately, because most of the staff turned over. I had numerous frustrating experiences here once it became Dr. Nkwonta's practice; equipment not working, computers not working, etc. Most frustratingly was his lack of "bedside manner." I found him very impersonal. But -- like other patients -- what really made me decide to stop going here was when I got a call about a month after a routine cleaning (with no flossing, btw... ?), saying that I needed to schedule a deep cleaning the Dr. & I had discussed. Uh... nope. We never discussed that. I was told it would cost hundreds of dollars (and I am insured), and that I'd agreed to set it up. I'm extremely money-conscious and know I would've been freaking out about something like this well in advance. I have ZERO recollection about talking with him about deep cleaning. I agreed to schedule an appointment, but called right back and cancelled, telling them I am no longer a patient, and that I found this to be pretty unethical. It seems like this is a go-to for him. The staff is friendly, the office is very homey and comfortable, but I seriously disagree with Dr. Nkwonta's approach to dentistry. read more

Stay away!!! This guy is a monster!!! Abusive to elderly, disabled patients and is a racist, makes offensive comments about Americans, does not care that you are a patient, there in need of care. Front office staff is unprofessional and overbills, when you complain they get the doctor to try and intimidate you, scare you off. Thankfully my insurance company was able to handle, settle this matter. I am use to quiet Dental offices, when needing care, on the day I had my appointment, the doctor had all 12 or so of his kids there making loud noises, it was a very unpleasant experience, I will NEVER return. read more

I had been a patient of Zantua's for over 10 years. Loved going to the dentist and her staff were very friendly, especially Shannon. My elementary school aged daughter LOVED going to the dentist! After Obiora took over, I had nothing but bad, frustrating experiences. I went for a general cleaning last May. While there, he suggested I have a deep cleaning. I was shocked as nobody had suggested my need for this. I didn't like how the transition to Zantua as handled. My husband went in for a follow up cleaning shortly after that. They said he needed more work done. When that happened, the hygenist was forceful while working in his mouth despite his tongue having a mind of it's own! Then Obiora's hands were very large, and my husband's mouth felt worked over. I decided to move to a different dentist. When I asked Obiora's office to send my file to the new dentist, they couldn't understand why I wanted to switch. They would have charged $25 for my chart to be transferred! That was the last straw for me and I'm happily seeing a different dentist. The new dentist says I don't need deep cleaning. read more

My Mom was in need of Dental care, and chose Dr. Nkwonta as the Dentist to go see. One, because my older brother ( her eldest son ) had been going to the Dr. for some time and He still goes. I take my Mom to each of her appointments. She gets great care. I chose to sit in on the first appointment, watching the cleaning of her teeth. Our first experience was warm and welcoming, from the Receptionist to the end of the cleaning. So much so, I suggested to my young Son to give Dr. Nkwonta a try. He still goes as well. The Dr. is extremely informative to the work he finds needed, and walked my Mom and myself through each procedure he found needed for her Dental care. He pleasantly was not pressing for work needed, but let us choose if or when this work could be or would be started and completed. Dr. Nkwonta's Receptionist is very personable and filled us in on what was available for my Mom and her Benefit care and worked within those parameters. She also keeps me abreast on when each appointment date is set, or one may be open sooner that may better fit my Mom's schedule. I won't take my Mom to just any caregiver and allow her to keep going, if she or I, am not completely satisfied with the Care given her. My Mom loves the care she receives and looks forward to each visit. So, Dr. Nkwonta is the Dentist she'll continue going to. I recommend this team to everyone. read more

I recently visited Dr. Nkwonta's Rainier dental office for a minor wisdom teeth removal. I had to wait over 45 minutes to be seen. The worst part was the bill. They purposely make it to sound like a surgical removal just to charge me unbelievably expensive. By any measurement, their price is far beyond fair. It is unethical and unfair. I am very impressed by Dr. Nkwonta's dental work and highly recommend his services. I have been going to Rainier Dental Center for about a year and half now and I am very satisfied with their dental services. The staff members are friendly and courteous and Dr. Nkwonta dental work is excellent. I was told by another dentist many years ago that I would need a cut at the sides of my mouth in order to extract my wisdom teeth which were bothering me but was buried deep in my mouth--almost invisible because of how they were positioned. I sought a second opinion at the time and they confirmed how complicated the extraction would be. Out of fear of any complication I did not extract them for many years and was being infected every now and then. When I visited Rainier Dental Center, Dr. Nkwonta did not think it was that complicated and scheduled an appointment for the extraction. Long story short, he extracted all four wisdom teeth in just one visit, about an hour of surgery! I have been using their services for other dental work and routine maintenance. I highly recommend his dental services for anyone who desires a quality dental work with great customer service. read more

I went to Drs Zimmerman for years and had Dr. Zantua once and had no problem and then they both left and decided to give Dr Nkwonta a chance. He told me I needed 4 crown and I had him do one and when he got done, told me I might have to have a root canal down the road and I asked him why he didn't do that first and he tpld me he could just take the cap off, do the root canal and put the cap back on. I decided I would get a second opinion and went to get my x-rays I paid for and they told me there would be a charge of $25.00 or more. I therefore went to a different dentist who is well known and he said I paid for my x-rays and there should not be a charge and he had never heard of doing caps before root canals. I am very disappointed and would never go back again and certainly not recommend them. read more

I had a cleaning appointment on Monday and had a great experience. What was most impressive to me was that when I asked the assistant who I thought was the hygienist if she would be doing my teeth cleaning, she said no because Dr. Nkwonta does his own cleanings. Not many dental offices have the Dr doing the cleaning.
