    La Pasadita
    Berkley B.

The OBT Flea Market is like an international experience in my own backyard. My husband and I found it on Google and decided to explore one Sunday afternoon. Parking was a challenge. There is a private lot in the front that appears to be the only parking available for the flea market. We kept making circles around it and eventually found a spot, but we saw many cars give up and leave. I'm glad we stayed! The first section of the market holds a variety of open-air Latin restaurants that all look and smell very similar, yet are apparently unique vendors. As soon as my husband and I stepped out of the car, we had multiple vendors start waiving us over like it was a competition to see who would get us. It made us feel a little bashful, but also like we were celebrities :P We picked a place called "La Pasadita" and the owner was sweet as can be. He talked to us about how he and his family owned the business and how they had started it. We ordered and they brought us out 3 AUTHENTIC types of salsa. The likes of which you'll never find in a grocery store. One even had carrots - that was new! During our meal, the owner brought us out (for free) another dish that my husband had considered getting, and then after the meal, I asked them how they made their mole sauce (just out of curiosity) and they brought us out a small cup of that and a bundle of tortillas to take home. We definitely got more food than our stomachs could handle! Some of the vendors only accepted cash, so we went to the on site ATM and took out a couple $20's. I have to say, there's a part of me that was nervous to be holding that much cash (flea markets have that stereotype of being kind of sketchy), but I really had nothing to worry about. There were a lot of families and family-owned businesses. We explored exotic groceries, antiques, souvenirs, second hand-finds, and a variety of things that look like they were purchased in bulk from China. People kept walking around with these really cool looking fruit cups and we eventually found where they were getting them. There was a guy at a booth chilling up fruit like a ninja, then he would pass the cup to another guy who would dress it with juices and spices. He would stab a fork in it and serve it to the customer. It looked super cool, and if I had had an ounce of room left I would have gotten one! Overall, I want to go back! It was neat to step into Latin America for an afternoon.

Had a lot of things very reasonable. Not too big, just right. The temperature inside was good. I will be back again!

We made it to the Central Florida Fairgrounds on the last day of the 2026 Central Florida Fair…read more There are two new polices regarding bags and minors that were implemented. The bag policy permits only clear bags, except for diaper bags and bags for medical items. There is a maximum of 2 minors per paid adult allowed. All minors 17 and under have to be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian 21+. There were guided parking and ample parking spaces when we arrived. Check points were set up for bag checks, metal detectors and of course ticket collection. The staff members working the bag check and the exit gate were courteous and polite. The Fairgrounds was not crowded so it was easy to walk about and not bump into other people. There was law enforcement presence inside and outside the Fairgrounds.

The 4-H exhibits were also really nice to walk through and gave them a chance to see livestock and learn a bit about how much work goes into raising the animals. There were plenty of midway games that kept them entertained, and they had a blast trying to win prizes. One thing that really surprised me was the $20 per person helicopter rides over the fairgrounds. We almost did it and I kind of regret not taking the chance--hopefully they bring that back next year. Overall a really fun family outing with lots for younger kids to see and do.

It's a tourist driven flea market. As my dear Queen Bee slash birthday girl likes flea markets,…read morethrift stores, etc. I figured we'd come here to whet her appetite. There are 200+ stalls in the place selling everything from soup to nuts. One has to be the latter to show up in a weekend day or even any day during high tourist season. Since we aren't here in such a day, nearly all the stalls are closed, meaning anyone looking to "drive" a bargain is gonna "stall" out. Speaking of stalls, there are restroom facilities scattered throughout the market. Do yourself a favor and don't spend too much time in here. Meantime a lot of what one may find in there tends toward that which the tourist would likely buy: cheap tchotchkes and mediocre merchandise of odd origin and questionable quality. Also know that the market caters heavily toward Hispanics. Place is laid out like a grid in an aluminum sided building, and there is some semblance of temp control in there. So find a pattern (say back to front, side to side), walk it and GTFO before you totally die of boredom and your wallet dies due to dollar store dysentery. Blech!
