So every year, I call the original installer to open and close my pool. And every year, it's like asking a teenager to do chores -- they either ghost me completely or give me the "we're busy with real customers" brush-off. Which is wild, because I've literally paid them every year, which feels like it should count for something -- if not respect, at least a returned call? Anyway, fast-forward to this year -- Year Four of the Pool Neglect Games. My pump started sounding like a chainsaw being tortured. I'm pretty sure the neighbors were close to calling the HOA or an exorcist. I emailed the original pool company: crickets. Called them: voicemail. Still nothing. So now I've got a dead pump, a murky future, and a wife I just told, "Get ready to bucket-bail this pool for the next two weeks." But then... enter Eric, stage left. (Cue spotlight and heroic music.) At 7:30 AM, I left a voicemail for Aquarius Pools & Spas, and by 7:45, I got a text from Eric like some kind of Pool Whisperer. He said he'd call by 9:30. Guess what? He actually did -- like, on time -- like a grown adult who respects other people's time. I know. Shocking. I gave him the lowdown, sent pics of the setup, and he quoted me a price that didn't make me want to fake my own death to get out of paying it. Then he said the magic words: "I can be there today." I almost cried. This man showed up, mid-day, replaced my pump like an absolute legend, and had my pool up and running same day -- all while the other company was probably still warming up to check their voicemail. Eric is the pool repair ninja I didn't know I needed but now cannot live without. And let's be real, I work in Customer Experience for a living -- I literally get paid to find out why companies suck and fix it. So when someone actually delivers top-tier service without the usual drama, it deserves more than five stars. It deserves a skywriter, a parade, and maybe a statue. So to sum it up: Eric, you crushed it. You turned what could've been a chlorine-scented nightmare into a same-day solution. Barefoot Pool Service is the creme de la creme of pool services in the OBX and the prices are reasonable. I know my service gets done twice a week whether I am there or not. Their office manager was so nice and managed to schedule them to come in just a few short days. They showed up when they said they would and in just a very short time had the pool pumped down and vacuumed, the lines blown out, chemistry adjusted, pump and filter drained and the cover installed. They did have to come back to put a floater with chlorine into the pool (we didn't have one and they didn't have one on their truck) so, all in all, an excellent job for a very nice price!! But I felt…read morecompelled to share my experiences with Corolla PPP to help others avoid the headaches and extreme frustration we experienced with Aaron and his team. We signed a contract with them in December to paint our main room and do a simple remodel in 2 1/2 bathrooms. The contract stated they would be done in Jan/Feb. It took them 5 1/2 months and they were not done until the first week in May, which resulted in us loosing 2 weeks of confirmed rental income (the dates of the renters were communicated to Aaron well in advance and several times). When I asked him to consider refunding us the lost rental income, he told me that "I am absurd." The quality of their work was horrible (in addition to slow). They installed mis-matched tile in the second-floor bathroom (and didn't think we would notice), the vanity and mirrors were mis-aligned and the drawers were uneven, they left plastic bags over the smoke detectors, all of the bathroom fixtures were falling off the walls because they forgot to install the set screws, there were unpatched holes in the ceiling around the recessed lights, and the painting looked like something my 7 year old would do. When we tried to talk to Aaron about it, he gave us excuses (looks like others experienced this with him, as well, based on the Angi's list reviews), told us his suppliers were out of his control, and was combative and confrontational. He sent text messages that just make my blood boil because the way in which he talked to us was so inappropriate. We consistently asked him to come out and meet with us and he refused, saying "I can't make it out." At the end of the day, we feel like he treated our new house like a dumpster, took advantage of us, and caused many unnecessary sleepless nights. We hope others never have to go through what we went through.

He gave me instructions to replace a portion of the filter line, and stayed available to me via text until I got that fixed successfully. Growing up in a family that owned a small business, I can easily recognize good service, and that is exactly what I got from Ahoy.
