Grilled cheese with roasted tomato, garlic, and red pepper
    Susan K.

109 Cheese Market offers a select collection of cheeses, breads, crackers, and accompaniments that are hard to find in the area (such as Delice de Poitou) enabling you to be the star guest or host of a wine and cheese gathering. 109 Cheese Market will even adorn your own wooden board or platter for you! In addition, 109 Cheese Market prepares sandwiches and soups that showcase items sold in the shop. After making your selection and purchase in the shop, once prepared, one of the shop employees will bring your order to the patio where you can dine under the dappled shade of an old maple tree. So before you walk out with a bag of goodies, try one of their grilled cheese sandwiches-- containing a gooey and hot blend of cheeses encased in a crisp sourdough crust! Why the number 109 in the name? This is the second of two shops, with the first located at 109 Danbury Road in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

One of the very best grilled cheese sandwiches you'll find.

Literally waited a year to eat a grilled cheese here again, we were so glad to see this shop still going! The best cheese, and while sandwiches and chips will set you back a little more than most places, we can't stress how amazing this place is.

Just popping into this shop is worth it for the smells, it smells heavenly! (If you like cheese, at least) They have limited indoor seating, and an assortment of crackers and other like products easily paired with cheese. There is cheese available to take home with prices by the half-pound, and you could spend a good while just going over the display case... Or I enjoy cheese too much, whatever. They are going to be moving from their current location on Main Street to the former Panini's location by the barns in Kent, and it will be interesting to see how they make that building their own!

Day-tripping and lunch at 109 cheese shop. Words can not describe how serious I am when I say, this is the best grilled cheese you have or will ever eat!! They use a special there cheese blend and you add on items such as- roasted tomatoes with garlic, prosciutto, spinach, mushrooms etc. Had the kale salad too and it was delicious. Friendly staff and cozy clean environment. Highly recommend...

I also love that they sell charcuterie and crackers and jams alongside the cheese. Prices are fairly reasonable and they have a great selection of local and international cheeses. Upon entering there were no other customers in the store. The store was neat and clean. A blonde woman standing at the back counter looked up from her phone at us and then went back to her phone. As another couple walked in someone else came out from the back and greeted the new couple. We worked our way back to the woman at the back counter and inquired about a cheese board. She told us we could order one and the amount of time it would take to have one made. We asked if they did cheese boards to sit and have to eat now, and I quote, "No we are not a cafe, we don't serve food in store like that". As we continued around the shop many more couples entered the store. We worked our way back around to the cheese counter to place our order. Once it was our turn the blonde woman, who originally snubbed us as we walked in, asked what we needed. As we started to order she asked us to hold on and called another girl from the back to continue helping us. The other girl was very friendly, and informational and even made some recommendations. We purchased a number of cheeses and other accoutrements. As we were checking out, a couple walked in and asked if they did fondue. The blonde woman was friendly and set them up at a table in the back to have fondue for 2. We proceeded to take our items and leave. If you like Brie you need to try the Truffle Brie! It is absolutely delicious! So much so that my girlfriend went back in to buy more for guests we were having over the next day. The cheese and the selection is great. The shop is cute and clean and apparently depending on who you are or who you're with, depends on how you will be treated.

Talbott & Arding was chosen as our first stop on our girls' getaway journey. Tucked in the Hudson Valley, just an hour from the Berkshires, it was a sweetly energetic beginning to our day. We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. Our stop at Talbott & Arding set the tone for an intentional, peaceful, vibrant, cozy, delicious, connected trip. I'll be back immediately.

This time around I ordered the salami and blue cheese and the roast beef special. The cheese and bread are all super fresh, but that didn't stop the roast beef sandwich from being a bit bland. The salami and blue cheese sandwich is a favorite of mine, and again was super fresh, but the sandwich was small and doesn't come with any veggies. I think the reason I am giving this two stars, and not three of four, is because of the ambiance and service. This time we waited around 20 minutes just to order our sandwiches, as there was only one person in the front, and they spent 15 minutes letting some people ahead of us sample cheese. The shop was packed, but the line was barely moving. We also saw the employees stick his nose in some mortadella and sniff it... not sure if that was a quality check but it was a bit of a turn-off. The shop itself is cute, but it has no bathroom or indoor seating, which is a must after a long car ride or hike (the area is famous for hiking). There are two outdoor tables, but they are extremely cramped. We sat down with our baby and there just wasn't enough room for us and the three ladies next to us, so my husband ate standing up. The cheese itself is quite nice and the staff is quite knowledgeable about what they products they offer. However, I like to stop here for lunch, and the lunch menu is limited to sandwiches. There are only a few sandwiches offered (maybe 5 and two specials) and they don't rotate through menu items very often, so I feel like I've tried each sandwich they offer multiple times over at this point. The sandwiches are usually quite bare and don't come with many veggies or variety. So that being said, I've been returning less because I'm a bit bored by the offerings.
