Upon entering there were no other customers in the store. The store was neat and clean. A blonde woman standing at the back counter looked up from her phone at us and then went back to her phone. As another couple walked in someone else came out from the back and greeted the new couple. We worked our way back to the woman at the back counter and inquired about a cheese board. She told us we could order one and the amount of time it would take to have one made. We asked if they did cheese boards to sit and have to eat now, and I quote, "No we are not a cafe, we don't serve food in store like that". As we continued around the shop many more couples entered the store. We worked our way back around to the cheese counter to place our order. Once it was our turn the blonde woman, who originally snubbed us as we walked in, asked what we needed. As we started to order she asked us to hold on and called another girl from the back to continue helping us. The other girl was very friendly, and informational and even made some recommendations. We purchased a number of cheeses and other accoutrements. As we were checking out, a couple walked in and asked if they did fondue. The blonde woman was friendly and set them up at a table in the back to have fondue for 2. We proceeded to take our items and leave. If you like Brie you need to try the Truffle Brie! It is absolutely delicious! So much so that my girlfriend went back in to buy more for guests we were having over the next day. The cheese and the selection is great. The shop is cute and clean and apparently depending on who you are or who you're with, depends on how you will be treated.

I was able to make some decisions about which four cheeses to have included on my medium platter for the tasting. They include Comté, (cow hard) Ossau Iraty (sheep semi soft), Munster (cow semi soft) and perhaps a goat cheese that they may get in during the next few days. The shop has many specialty foods to select from. I enjoyed browsing before buying a couple of cheeses to take home for later.

We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. Our stop at Talbott & Arding set the tone for an intentional, peaceful, vibrant, cozy, delicious, connected trip. I'll be back immediately.

The shop was packed, but the line was barely moving. We also saw the employees stick his nose in some mortadella and sniff it... not sure if that was a quality check but it was a bit of a turn-off. The shop itself is cute, but it has no bathroom or indoor seating, which is a must after a long car ride or hike (the area is famous for hiking). There are two outdoor tables, but they are extremely cramped. We sat down with our baby and there just wasn't enough room for us and the three ladies next to us, so my husband ate standing up. The cheese itself is quite nice and the staff is quite knowledgeable about what they products they offer. However, I like to stop here for lunch, and the lunch menu is limited to sandwiches. There are only a few sandwiches offered (maybe 5 and two specials) and they don't rotate through menu items very often, so I feel like I've tried each sandwich they offer multiple times over at this point. The sandwiches are usually quite bare and don't come with many veggies or variety. So that being said, I've been returning less because I'm a bit bored by the offerings.

They have an outstanding selection of delicious cheese. I wasn't pressured into buying certain amounts and was even offered a taste before selecting cheese. We went with a Smokey blue cheese from Oregon and an amazing Gouda from the Netherlands. We impulsively added some pesto. Later that afternoon, we enjoyed both cheeses and the beet hummus with the gluten free crackers. A 1/4 pound of each cheese was more than enough for a great afternoon snack! They also have various cheese tasting events either at the shop or at another local establishment.
