Dr. Niavarany is a wonderful audiologist and I highly recommend her. She is kind, personable and knowledgeable. I appreciated how much time she spent with me not only choosing the right hearing aids for me but also in programming the hearing aids. She used Real Ear Measurement (REM) to properly verify my prescription and we had a couple of follow up appointments to tweak the fine tuning. In addition, the receptionists/schedulers are very polite and efficient. read more

These guys are too big, are now dysfunctional. I lost one of my hearing aids I got from them, and after a month of repeated phone calls, hearing ridiculous excuses, I still can't get a replacement. During today's phone call, the excuse I got was "we have so many patients it's too hard to follow up, it's the hearing aid company's fault!" Stay away friends. read more

I think it depends on who you get when the appointment is made. I emailed my doctor and never got a response until I called few days later. Then find out this doctor doesn't always check email. Then I get a returned call back a week later from a message left earlier. This happened twice. Communication with this office and doctor is bad. Not sure if it happens with other doctors in this office. Then when I started asking questions about hearing aids, this doctor seemed to only recommend one brand. They offer others but I was told by this doctor that he knows nothing about the other brand that I inquired about which they sell! I was just doing my research before deciding what I want when this doctor said patients usually just buy what they are being told. I was surprised to hear that. Took my business to Costco where they have two brands that this OC office has but under a different name, has knowledgeable staff that knows the product and works with you and not against you at a fraction of the cost. Even Costco's free hearing test is way better than the test from this OC office which you have to pay for. read more

Don't waste your time with this organization as they are the definition of incompetence. I met with Dr. Finley on January 28th with my hearing test results which he reviewed and recommended hearing aids. It's July 10th and I literally never received a single follow-up call from him or administrative staff about their work with the insurance company or my hearing aids status which I certainly could have paid for in cash. I had to call them on 2 occasions and the story was the same -- they told me the insurance company has not responded and guided me to call them. my insurance company called them on the spot. The problem is with this firm. my patience has expired with their incompetence so I simply asked for my hearing test results which the audiologist took and they refused to return it as if in an effort to keep me captive to use them. I've never encountered such haphazard incompetence in the medical profession as with OC Physicians Hearing Services so I strongly suggest you steer clear of this place. read more

Whatever you do- DON'T PAY CASH, because they won't keep record of it and won't send a receipt in the mail (like promised). From the looks of the 2 star ratings, I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience. I took my daughter for a hearing test in March and everything went great- I paid with card this time, because we're cash pay and I had enough in my account to cover it. I did however have to HOUND them to send the results to my daughter's speech pathologist and it took weeks for them to finally comply. (THE WHOLE REASON WE WERE THERE TO BEGIN WITH) Went for her follow up a month later and paid CASH, because I'm in the service industry and had enough to cover the appointment. The girl who did the test took the cash, said they don't normally get people paying actually cash and said they would mail a receipt to me... never happened, but I didn't think anything of it. They sent a bill for $100 (which I paid cash for back in April) and I figured they aren't caught up on their book keeping, like most doctors offices, hospitals, etc. NOW they're saying they never received cash from me (yet you let me leave your office without paying for the appointment??) and won't render any future services unless I pay (AGAIN). They're NOT on top of their records, book keeping or following up. read more

Had a follow up second visit with Steve Lu last week to pick up repaired hearing aid. Disappointed with his zero connection attitude with the patients especially when I reminded him about the previous appointment that had lasted 15-20 minutes with him less than 2 weeks back he did not bother to engage! In reading the other reviews it appears that most of the negative ones were based on insurance issues and not on the important hands on expertise that solved a hearing issue. I had Medicare which basically pays nothing so this was on my own dime. I had been deaf in my right ear since I was 8 years old after contacting Rubella. I was over 70 when I finally decided to look into getting a hearing aid. The results for me at OCPHS were beyond expectations. I found Dr. Deanna Gende to be most professional. She was generous with her time, her knowledge and her supplies. She recommended the Oticon Cros PX which allowed me to hear from my right side for the first time in memory as it had the ability to transfer sounds into my left ear. It was sort of a miracle for me. This is a long overdue review. I want to publicly thank Dr. Gende for making my hearing ability demonstrably better and that has helped to improve my overall quality of life. read more

I was planning to send a thank-you card to this office -- until I received a letter stating they were refusing me service. This felt premature and punitive, especially since the issues stemmed from my insurance provider, not me. I regret not listening to other reviewers. If you're looking for a patient, knowledgeable, and understanding audiologist, this is not the place. Look elsewhere. I was referred here by Shohet because the office works with Amplifon, Cigna's third-party provider for hearing aid coverage. I initially saw an intern who gave confusing, inaccurate information about my benefits. Having worn hearing aids for years and seen many audiologists, I could tell she lacked experience. I then spoke with Dr. Deanna Gende. She was kind at first, but in a follow-up conversation, she seemed frustrated and suggested we cancel my appointment until the insurance issues were sorted. I agreed and thanked her. Later, I learned from Cigna that they were actively working with Dr. Gende to help resolve the issue with Amplifon. I was disappointed the coverage didn't work out, but I appreciated the effort -- or so I thought. Receiving a letter refusing future service made it clear: this office is not equipped to handle the realities of dealing with complex insurance plans, nor are they advocates for patients navigating hearing loss and the difficult process of obtaining coverage. read more

Appointment made in January for July 24 at 9:30 am. Upon arrival today I was told they no longer service anyone who has not purchased the hearing aids from their company. No advance notice was given. All they had to do is call me the day before and notify me. The audiologist did not care. read more

Horrible Office. If I could give a Zero, I would. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. I Had a referral for OC Physicians Hearing Services from my HMO group. After wasting almost 3 weeks I was told by Natalie that "they can't help me order hearing aids we are not in "network" with Providence St. Mary High Desert Medical Group". Yet this is where MY HMO sent me. They should have done their job and submitted a referral to my HMO group and my Medically Necessary hearing aids would have been covered by my Insurance. But Natalie was too STUPID to know that. read more

This review is for my mom's recent visit, written by her: Unprofessional, rude and uncaring. After my hearing test, OC Hearing scheduled me for a hearing aid fitting. Upon arrival and check-in, I waited a good 30+ minutes and checked at the desk if there was a problem. The audiologist who was supposed to take care of my fitting did not come in. So, I was told they would have someone else take care of me. After waiting a while, another audiologist did do the fitting. He was very good. My final appointment to approve my hearing aid was for today. The OC Hearing office called me a few days ago to remind me of my appointment. I arrive on time, check in, wait and then informed that the audiologist assigned to me is at a different office today. Please, at least have the decency and courtesy to give patients the proper information. Receptionist said someone will see me if I wanted to wait. How long? Don't know. Really pathetic and incompetent. Absolutely do not recommend this group. read more

The receptionist is very rude. I couldn't understand what she was saying and asked her again. She sighed loudly and changed her voice tone unpleasantly. I felt very uncomfortable with her attitude when I first made an appointment already, so I decided to go to another office. When I called back to cancel my appointment, she was the same way. This is a Dr's office, especially for the people who need hearing services. If the receptionist is so impatient with repeating herself for the patient, how can patients feel comfortable visiting this office? If I could give a zero, I would. I have been going to this place for a number of years with minor issues. However, recently I scheduled an appointment for an evaluation and possible new hearing aids. I was told they could not book me at the Mission office, but they could book me at another office. Fine. I scheduled the appointment for about 3 weeks out. Today, one week prior to my visit, I got a call they could not issue new hearing aids due to my insurance. They could see me for exam and any necessary hearing aid adjustments to my existing aids. I called my insurance company who reached out to them, and was told they would not have any hearing aids until December. I called them back to cancel my appointment and was told it was due to being short staffed. She could leave my message with the head doctor since he was not in today. I laughed telling her I would never be doing business under any circumstances. She told me he would call me back. I told her I did not want him to call me back, and how could he take a day off when you are short staffed? Done. This place lacks professionalism. read more

So disappointed in the lack of professionalism displayed by John Coleman. My insurance company paid thousands of dollars for hearing aids, but I never received them. He would not honor my insurance company's EOB outlining my out-of-pocket cost, which was significantly lower than what he insisted I owed. When we met to discuss, he tried to bargain (offered me lower cost hearing aids with no charge to me and also less than what he received from my insurance company, bully me (verbally cut me off when I tried to speak, would not let me learn the level of hearing aid technology), intimidate me (abrasively tried to end the meeting when I was asking questions about the insurance), then flat out yelled at me when I brought up my insurance's EOB outline. The meeting ended when he refused to stop yelling at me. Yes, literally yelling. I hope your experience is better than mine was. read more

Went in for distortion and a computer adjustment. Hearing aid still not adjusted for distortion.I have been a patient for over 10 years. Audiologist used 3 year old tests for comparison . I brought up there were tests which were a year old and questioned why the new tests were not used on the charting assessement .I requested all the charting including the charting that was missed in our visit. I called and left a complaint with the owner of the business and requested a new audiologist. on next visit. I received a phone call regarding the important complaint and was told no new audiologist would be provided and to find another hearing clinic. BEWARE of tests not needed. $$ ask for all copies of your charting and most of all beware of a business that does not want to hear complaints that could help others and their business. So sad the best audiologists has retired and the new clinic rules do not include helping patients and most of all complaints. BEWARE do your home work. read more

I am sorry to see so many negative ratings. I have been dealing with the Mission Viejo office for almost 16 years. I have had excellent service, warm receptions and almost no wait times. Follow-up service was always handled professionally and freely. I have had 2 sets of hearing aids over those years and have had many appointments, including one this week. Very unprofessional medical services. I had an appointment (after waiting for a month) to see a doctor in Laguna Hills office to check for vertigo. Before the hearing test they determined that I have too much wax in one ear and it needed to be removed before the hearing test. The removal took 10 minutes, and then, in the meantime they took another patient for a hearing test and told me that it would take another 45 min. for my hearing test. During the appointment scheduling I was told that the appointment will take 40 min. maximum and I scheduled my day accordingly. So I told the receptionist that I can't wait that long and need to schedule another appointment. By the way the receptionist was not friendly at all. I was scheduled for the following week and I specifically asked for Laguna Hills location. I was very frustrated when I came for my second appointment and the office door was closed. I called the office manager in Mission Viejo, he apologized, said that a receptionist was not experienced (talking about rocket science here) making an appointment, the office always closed on Wednesdays in Laguna Hills, and my name is not in a computer at all. I do have their business card with the appointment time. Try to spare yourself the frustration and find another office. This office doesn't care about you. read more

They charged and submitted the claim to my insurance beforeI I committed to get the hearing aid. I found out about it after trying to see another office. They eventually returned the insurance money. I was informed it was illegal for them to charge and get paid before delivering the hearing aid. It took over a month to get it cleared so I can see another provider. read more

Be prepared to wait. Wait 45 minutes on the phone to make an appointment. Wait 45 minutes once you get there to get called into the doctor's office. Wait 10-15 minutes to see the doctor. Surprise, the doctor spends 10 minutes with you. They book appointments every 15 minutes. read more

I would give less than a one star if I could. My husband had his hearing tested and was told he needed hearing aids. They gave him a loner pair and said they would order his. Twice they canceled his appointments because they said his hearing aids weren't in yet. When he finally went in they wouldn't let him have them because insurance wouldn't cover them. That had already been established beforehand and he had told them he would pay for them himself. They refused to let him do that with no reason given. They were rude and they wasted a month of his time waiting to get his hearing aids. I would never refer anyone to this practice!! read more

I was referred here by mission hospital after my newborn failed the state mandated testing in one of her ears shortly after birth. I brought my baby here for the retest when she was 2 weeks old and we saw Dr. Das. She was amazing. I unfortunately had to come back one more time because my newborn wasn't cooperating towards the end the first tine and Dr Das was so patient with us. She originally thought my daughter had mild hearing loss in one ear based off the testing, but Dr Das took the time to readminister the tests and they came back as "normal hearing" Such a relief! I really appreciate her doing that test again. This is a busy office but I did not have to wait long both times I was here and they are some of the best audiologists around. read more

Physicians Hearing Services will be avoided by us! My wife and I saw Dr. Cho at Head and Neck Associates (he was awesome) for an ear exam (in-network Blue Cross PPO). He referred her to OC Physicians Hearing Servies (in the same office) for hearing assessment. Since we did not show our insurance card again I assumed they were also in my network (my mistake). Dr. Kent Weaver determined that she needed hearing aids which was not a surprise to us. He made molds of her hears and told us it would take 6-8 weeks for insurance approval (that is an arbitrary timeframe not known to Blue Cross). Sometime later after several calls/voicemails and one email, I finally caught Kent (he does not have my respect) on the phone. He was rude and condescending as I was trying to figure out why they wanted to bill me $2,997 for the $4,560 hearing aides when my coverage is 80% of the contracted rate (granted the contracted rate is a mystery number), but something clearly was not right. When I called Blue Cross they informed me that Kent and his people at OC Physicians Hearing Servies are not PPO providers, something they failed to inform me of. I believe they were hoping I would just pay the money and not question my coverage. I find this to be extremely unethical. read more

Have to say, I was very happy with Dr. Allen this morning. My son needed a full audio screening (he's speech delayed, and they wanted to rule out a hearing problem). She was wonderful with him, playful and didn't try to force it when he was clearly past patience with us. Appt started on time (or maybe even a few mins early) and took about 25 mins. My only gripe would be parking... $3 for first hour, to a max of $6. I absolutely hate having to pay parking. read more

My mother who is almost 80 years old suffering from hearing loss on her right ear and partial hearing on her left ear has been denied care by Dr. John Coleman for reasons of calling the office "too often". When her insurance referred her to another audiologist, Dr. Stephen Sanders, from OC Physicians Hearing Services she was told by the front office that the entire group of audiologists will deny her care. I thought surely there's some obvious explanation since my mother is a sweet elderly and a beloved patient who never forgets holiday gifts for her doctors or their staff throughout the decades. When I asked the front office if she can help explain what had occurred she was not in the liberty to discuss the doctors decision. Instead I was put on hold to speak with Dr. Coleman which I thought was strange. When I introduced myself he said that my mother calls the office "too often" and he considers it "abusive" When I asked what he was referring to he said "I don't want to litigate it again...don't argue with me." Even though there was no argument whatsoever and anyone at earshot distance would agree. And then he said "I'm going to hang up now" and click! Beyond disappointing and unprofessional! I am happy to share his letter with anyone on the fence about the validity of my review. read more

Dr John Coleman is an exceptional audiologist. He is a skillful perfectionist willing to devote ample time to his patients for proper fit and best possible hearing results. His decades of experience are evident in his professional and caring manner. My Siemens hearing aids had outlived their usefulness and he recommended I try ReSound LiNX2 which were an improvement in power and audibility and are iPhone compatible. It took the lab a few attempts to get my ear molds exactly right, but Dr Coleman was persistent in his follow-up and there was no extra charge for the numerous office appointments. Without hesitation I would recommend anyone who is considering hearing aids to contact Dr. John Coleman. read more
