I needed four single hung windows repaired in my rental townhome in Laguna Niguel. Some were nearly impossible to open, one had a side rail hanging out, they were not usable. Dan responded right away to my phone call, was able to give me a bid over the phone by looking at one photo, and he told me he could do the job within a day or two. He coordinated the service appointment with my tenants, kept me informed the whole time, and got all four windows working like new in one afternoon. Danny is a window genius. We have many matching 34 year old casement windows and several of them had worn window crank operators and would not open or close properly. Other window repair places said we had to replace the entire window and frame with a new one that would 'almost' match all the adjacent original windows and wanted a lot of money for that. We preferred to repair the window operator because the wood frame was in good shape and they matched our other windows. Finally I found Danny of OC Window Restoration on Yelp and his estimate for replacing the operators and other needed hardware was a fraction of the cost of new windows. 5 Stars for sure! Dan with OC Window Restoration was incredibly helpful, and very professional. Although in the end, my windows were not the easiest to repair, I give Dan the best review, because of his honesty and experience. Due to the way my windows were manufactured and designed, he was afraid that if he repaired them (installing new hardware), that they would still fail over a short period of time. He said he was willing to try, but that if it was his windows, he would fully replace them. He came to my house two times to measure and then try out the possible hardware that might fix my problem. In the end, we agreed that we would replace with new, and he was quick at returning my $800 deposit. I would hire him again if I have future window repairs. These guys did a great job fixing my window. I would give them 5 stars if the price was not so high for the amount of work that was done. They only had to replace one window pane that took 20 minutes to glue into place, and it cost around $285.00. Why? 1) Dan returned my first phone call almost immediately and scheduled an appointment for the following day. Prompt - check. 2) Dan gave me an estimate as soon as he was able to view the broken window. And he stuck to his price. Honest - check. 3) Dan kept me in the loop on the status of getting the custom-size, dual pane replacement, and was on top of keeping my job moving, since I had a deadline. Attention to detail - check. 4) Dan sent me the requested photo of the work, as I was not able to be there when he installed the new window. About 4 weeks ago I called OC window resoration to fix a broken window. They sent a guy out. I had already given them the serial number of the broken part. However the technician wasn't aware and said he didn't have the part and needed to order it. He then proceeded to leave without any info regarding when he'd be back or when the part would be available. I'm so glad I found Dan from OC Window Restoration (found out later they're also called Orange County Coastal Glass). I have a bunch of windows that are over 20 years old that cannot be opened. The windows are still in good shape I didn't want to replace them. The house was built in the 90's when having lots of windows were in trend. We found OC Window Restoration on line and were encouraged by the reviews. They contacted us promptly initially. We wanted the windows in one room replaced within 2 weeks, before Thanksgiving. They assured us that was doable. However, there were several delays and scheduled visits to complete the job that they called to cancel and reschedule. The day before Thanksgiving they were to have come to do the job and at the last minute, they said they were unable to reach the employee who was to have done the job. I was frustrated and we conveyed that this was unacceptable. From out of state, the owner contacted his son, Jeremy, who came on very short notice and did a wonderful job. I called July 13 to get an estimate for window glass replacement and left messages three times during the day. Tues a called was returned. I explained that I needed window glass replaced in four windows. The caller then asked the approximate sizes and I gave them. I then asked that he come out to take accurate measurements so as to get a price rather than get an over the phone ball park price. He said he would call Wed to set up a time. He never returned the call. If OC Windows does not want to do the work just say so. read more
