OB Antique Mall is a pretty cool antique store on OB's main drag Newport Ave. They carry a large assortment of all sorts of different items from different eras. I particularly enjoy the baseball (specifically Padres) memorabilia. I really like the old beer signs and such. I'm not well versed in the world of antiques as far as what something's worth or value is. Therefore, I'm not sure if the prices are any better or worse compared to similar inventory at other stores. That said, an old Schaffer beer tin sign for $85 seemed a bit steep. It is fun to walk around and look at all the old stuff. You just might come across that perfect "thing". read more

This place is magical. So much treasure to find and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful and there is a whole section in the back for vintage jewelry unlike any I've ever seen before. Overall, this place is moderately overpriced, but if you dig deep, you might occasionally find one or two items priced slightly lower than eBay. This rating is specifically for the guy in the back selling watches and jewelry, I believe his name is Ken--he's really difficult to communicate with. The first time I bought from him, I was just getting into watches and ended up getting screwed badly. I bought five watches, all way overpriced compared to the current market, and none came with any warranty. One was already broken(I didn't have the battery to test it), and another stopped running after just a few days. If you're looking for good deals, I'd honestly recommend sticking to eBay rather than these antique malls that prey on inexperienced buyers and try to squeeze every dollar out of you. We came in on Friday, 2/28/25 and fell in love with a piece of jewelry that was marked at $3,275 in the back of the store at the Empire Enterprises jewelry counter owned by Ken Freeman and his wife. We went home and thought about it on Saturday and decided to come back to buy it on Sunday, March 2, 2025. I thought it might be sold because I didn't see it. Ken asked his wife and she told him it was hidden under a tray in the same display case. Thankfully it was not sold! Then Ken pulled it out and immediately waited. He then told us he was changing the price based on the spot rate of gold and was not honoring his own price tag with his K.F. initials on it! He then weighed it, cut off Friday's price tag and marked it up to $4,900 RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!!!!! I could not believe we just made the two hour drive to come back to buy something at THEIR retail price only to see Ken MARK IT UP $1,625 OVER what it was less than 48 HOURS AGO!!!! This is such a great, fun place to go. There's so much of everything. Unfortunately, this iconic place will be closing due to rising rent and local folks are protesting to keep Target Express from moving in. They're worried about the impact Target would have to other local businesses, and that is a valid concern. Also a Target store would look terribly out of place. This is an awesome antique mall. It has quite a variety of items and nostalgia that you can find almost anything you might want. On a recent visit to OB I had this idea to prank my future mother in law with an objet d'art of questionable taste to put on our mantle during an upcoming party. My fiancé and I popped in and found "Art" as he has affectionately become known around the home now. It took a little while for my future mother in law to notice "Art" but we all laughed. This is my all-time favorite establishment for antiquing. I basically furnished my entire apartment from purchases at this store and have spent hours just wandering around in there when I can't afford to splurge. The only reason I can't give it five stars is because of a couple unpleasant and quite frankly rude interactions I have had with one of the older women who works there. I was purchasing an $85 rug and another smaller item, when I mentioned that I grabbed the add on item from a booth that said it was 70% off. She corrected me in an extremely condescending way, and then proceeded to explain that people ditch things all over the store every day, with an unnecessarily mean tone. I was super taken aback by the whole encounter. I'll still be back. Everyone else at this establishment is super sweet and welcoming!!!! read more

Out of all the antique stores in San Diego, this is by far the best. I've been shopping here for years and everything I've found is a treasure. The couple that run this place are fantastic at what they do. They're so kind and patient with all their customers, always willing to share a joke or lend a hand. I have loved the OB antique mall since I was 15 and bought a hat from Ginger Roger's estate for $10. If that name doesn't even ring a bell then stop reading because you're too into today to worry about things of old. For the rest of you, the OB antique mall is fabulous, there are around a hundred different booths all owned by different people, selling different things and for different prices. Even a poor ass loser like myself can afford cute jackets with fur collars there. They have everything from Victorian carriages to McDonald's toys of the 80's to autographed sports cards. Everything. It's like the flea marked of the antique world, and thus, the OB antique mall brings me joy. I hope they never go out of business. read more

This place is such a gem. It's family owned and ran which just give you the support local attitude that OB has to offer. I mainly to go in here for jewelry, but they have everything you can think of. The owner he's a know all and tell all when it comes to jewelry. He has so much knowledge and is so helpful with sizing, picking the best one for you. I don't know why this place has some crazy ranting reviews below (sounds like nightmare customers, if you ask me -- also, some seem to have this place confused with Newport Avenue Antique Center just up the street). I, for one, absolutely LOVE the Ocean Beach Antique Mall. This has been a frequent date spot of my then-boyfriend, now-husband. We even picked out my engagement ring here together (a modest 1940s design in gold), and it couldn't be more perfect! Service here has always been friendly and incredibly helpful. Ken, "the ring guy" my friends and I call him, is especially great. He will rattle off his knowledge of jewelry and different eras of design trends while you sift through a pile of beautiful antique jewels. The store is smaller than most antique malls, so I'm able to spend more time looking a lot closer at each item and almost always walk out with something great (vintage encased butterflies, brass and glass display boxes, unique tie clips, old photos, etc). Pleasant enough to walk through but the prices on just about everything are pretty high. The signs that left you know you're being recorded are sarcastic and off putting. I understand you need to prevent shoplifting but making your customer feel like a suspected criminal is suspect customer service. I had a much better experience down the street. This is my favorite stop to make when walking around OB. I always take a look at the jewelry counter and am greeted by someone knowledgeable in all the different styles and what era they are from. He is incredibly helpful and happy to let me try on anything and everything and let me know exactly what it is I'm looking at. Could spend all day. Didn't, but could. I love antiques. My favorite things to look for are old Pyrex (I have a turquoise bowl set I'd like to add to and my sister has pink), martini shakers, postcards and jewelry. This place had a bunch of all of that. I've been to this place area years back and loved it. I went, unaware that the Ocean Beach parade was taking place. Undeterred, I went in the shop @ 4:00 fully aware that of the sign out front saying the place would be closed at 5:00 PM. Understandable, even the owners should enjoy the parade. I remember this place having a few Indian (not Native American) figurines and sculptures. I went to the back corner and found several options of Ganesha figures I was considering buying. I found it Then next thing I knew a woman yelled, "We're closing @4:30, you need to go now!" Keep in mind, I was holding an $400 stone figurine in my hands. If I dropped it there was no way in hell I would have paid for it. It was that close to being rubble. Turned off by the rudeness, I headed out the door and talked with a few folks. Apparently, the owner wanted to close up early because people from the parade were using their bathrooms. Ok. Understandable. Lock the doors and only let out people. But to yell at me as a customer and tell me to leave when I'm at the opposite end of the store, away from the bathrooms? You're an arse. Plain and simple. I apologize to the antiques owner who consigned the booth I was at. The management bilked you out of a profit and doesn't care about your products as evidenced by the yelling behind my back. read more

I have been shopping here for 30 years! It is the 1st place I go for gifts, silver, jewelry and everything antique. Ken and Nancy are wonderful to do business with and the items are very high quality. I have never had an issue but did change my mind a couple times after purchase and they gladly exchanged my purchase penny for penny. This was a nice store that I found while strolling through Ocean Beach. The staff working there were friendly and they had a nice stock. I purchased a few things from them and was shocked when they wouldn't let me use a restroom. The staff seems somewhat knowledgeable, but at times I felt like they were just making stuff up.
