I booked a stay at Ocean Beach Hotel for June 27 with parking included in my reservation. Over three weeks before my check-in, I received a message informing me that parking would be closed all day (4am-10pm) due to their annual street fair and chili cook-off. This should have been disclosed at the time of booking -- not dropped on a guest weeks later as an afterthought. I am currently recovering from a broken wrist and an injured hip, which makes walking long distances impossible. Parking wasn't a convenience for me -- it was a necessity. I had no choice but to cancel. What made this even more unacceptable was the response: no apology, no alternatives offered, no compensation -- just a short message with a phone number. For a hotel that knowingly sells parking-included bookings during a day when parking is completely unavailable, that is simply not good enough. This was meant to be a birthday celebration. Those plans are now ruined. If you have mobility limitations or are relying on an included amenity, be warned that this hotel does not communicate important information upfront or make any effort to make it right. Very disappointing. They said " sorry for the inconvenience " after my message

Great location right across from the water. Tiny rooms, beds are uncomfortable, bathrooms are beyond small, and the prices is astounding but the view, the location, walk to dinner and bars. Steps from the beach. 3 floors no elevators mini ridge in room.

This is a very cute and charming place! Location, location, location ...the best! It's across the street from the beach and a few steps from local eateries and shopping!! The options are endless! Ice cream parlor, Açaí, smoothies, great food.. the seafood nearby was amazing and the prices were so reasonable!! We got in late and the lady that checked us in was so friendly. The rooms are small but everything was clean and in working order! The people in OB were all friendly and it was easy to strike up a conversation with them. It was not crowded which was surprising since it was 4th of July weekend..

Would NOT recommend staying here which says a lot because we have stayed here in the past. The walls are paper thin and you can hear full conversation from your neighboring rooms, the court yard, and the street is a crackheads dream. Constant partying in the streets with loud instruments and yelling late into the night. LOTS of homeless people laying around, you struggle to find a spot to sit on the board walk that doesn't have a homeless person laying around. The pier (which was our fav part of the area) has been closed since Oct 2023 due to structural damage and the hotel failed to mention this when we booked. The Starbucks that used to be a block up has closed. No elevator at the hotel, and when we checked in we were greeted by a very large dead (hopefully) cockroach. However where there is one roach, there is more to follow, there was also a very heavy scent of bleach being used. Listen to the reviews, the toilet is basically under the sink and you have to use the toilet sideways if you are taller than 5'7. The only positive was the great shops and restaurants near by!! BBQ House was 10/10 and of course Hodads burgers!

Great location that you'll be paying for. It's right across the street from the beach, if you want to get closer you'll have to sleep in the sand. There is also all of the Ocean Beach bars and hotels very close, so take advantage. Rooms are small but there is some seating at the upper level and in the courtyard that gives you space to enjoy. Outside has nice Pacific Ocean murals.

Had a staycation to celebrate a friend's birthday recently and wanted to be close to a venue nearby. It was perfect! The bedrooms we had were unique in that the the room was split so that the beds weren't side by side so it was nice having a little separation. Our rooms were clean with great views. The decks overlooking the beach were also nice to sit and eat snacks/breakfast and chat a bit. Great people watching.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. He remembered us throughout our weekend, which was a big plus in my book. While the lobby may not be as expansive as some other high-end hotels, my focus wasn't on lounging around there. I get that some reviewers might expect more amenities, but this is Downtown San Diego. The design and structure fit perfectly with the surroundings, and I personally appreciate a place that keeps the riff-raff at bay. Once we checked into our room, I found the space thoughtfully designed, and the staff promptly addressed the minor issues we encountered. Though the hotel doesn't boast a massive pool, located on the 3rd floor, the staff provided excellent food and beverage service. The gym, overlooking the pool, was well-equipped for a proper workout, and I was pleased to find that the equipment was in good condition and saw little use. The hotel's restaurants offered delicious meals, making dining a pleasure. Cathryn, with her crossed key pins, was an outstanding concierge. She provided invaluable advice on local beach spots and dining options. After making a poor Yelp choice, she came to my rescue, finding great restaurants in both the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy that suited our specific preferences. One small gripe: We were locked out of our room probably because we requested late check out and tried getting in after 11am (something needs to be done to prevent this, it was annoying). The valet parking was around $70 so we found a parking lot a few blocks away. The walk wasn't bad so a good alternative. The location is close to the convention center and stadium, but if you're not coming to SD for those places, I wouldn't say this is a central location. I booked through Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit and got the following perks: 1. Upgrade to higher floor room 2. Amenity (a box of chocolates) 3. $100 credit (used on lunch at Provisional Kitchen) 4. $60 breakfast credit (used at Provisional Kitchen) 5. I eventually spoke with Vee, who handled my call regarding the overcharge. What was most frustrating was that the error was made by the hotel, yet there was little effort to compensate for the inconvenience. As a courtesy, I felt the hotel could have waived the third night's parking charge given the time and effort I had to spend resolving a mistake that wasn't mine. My time is valuable, and having to dedicate part of my evening to fixing a billing error left me feeling that guest satisfaction was not a priority. The Hotel del Coronado feels like a structure of divine proportion, as if someone dared to translate wonder into architecture. Even as a day trip, this place became the highlight of my entire visit. Every corner felt intentional, every detail lovingly preserved. The ornate designs, polished woodwork, elegant corridors, and charming shops all carry a sense of timeless glamour. There is history here, but it never feels dusty--it feels alive. I grabbed a matcha and a sorbet from one of the shops and sat with a view so beautiful it almost didn't feel real. Ocean air, swaying palms, sunlight dancing on the water--one of those rare moments where life feels cinematic. Naturally, I may or may not have left with a souvenir sweatshirt because some memories deserve to be worn and carried home. As a lover of vintage cinema, it was especially magical knowing Some Like It Hot was filmed here. You can almost feel echoes of old Hollywood drifting through the halls--glamour, romance, and a kind of golden-age elegance that feels increasingly rare. The staff were warm and welcoming, the food options plentiful, and the overall experience unforgettable. Beach Village at Hotel del Coronado…read more We recently stayed at Beach Village at Hotel del Coronado and had an amazing experience. Both of our rooms (1103 and 1104) were located in the same oceanfront building and featured incredible beachfront patios with fire pits. Being able to sit outside, listen to the waves, and enjoy the ocean views right from our patio was truly special. The rooms themselves were fantastic. Large French doors opened directly to the patio, allowing the ocean air and sound of the surf to flow into the room. The suite layout worked perfectly for our family, with the ability to separate the bedroom from the main living area. The kids were able to sleep comfortably on the fold-out bed in the main area while mom and dad enjoyed a private bedroom. The bathroom was spacious and luxurious, featuring a double vanity, soaking tub, and separate shower. One room included a full kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, and two refrigerators, while the other had a more traditional hotel room setup. Both were spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The Beach Village amenities are excellent. There are multiple pools throughout the property, including a larger main pool with a spa, smaller pools located throughout Beach Village, and an adults-only pool for those looking for a quieter experience. There also appear to be a few standalone hot tubs/jacuzzis around the property. Service throughout our stay was outstanding. Every interaction with staff was positive, and we genuinely have no complaints regarding the level of service we received. We love Coronado and always enjoy visiting. The only disappointment was that the ocean water was closed due to the ongoing Tijuana River contamination issues. Obviously, that is not the hotel's fault. However, large stakeholders such as Hotel del Coronado likely have a stronger voice than individual visitors and residents, and continued advocacy for a permanent solution would benefit everyone who enjoys this beautiful coastline. Even with a few maintenance items noted below, this was still a five-star stay and a place we would happily return to. A few suggestions for management: Room 1104: * Dog hair on some furniture * Dishwasher missing components that secure the racks * Patio electrical outlet cover is loose and missing screws; the plate comes off when opening the cover * Left window does not lock properly * Strong spice/food odor in refrigerator * Could not figure out how to get the surround sound system working Room 1103: * Toilet seat should be replaced with a soft-close seat Overall, Beach Village offers an incredible beachfront experience with beautiful accommodations, excellent service, fantastic amenities, and some of the best oceanfront patios we've ever enjoyed. We look forward to returning.
