My GF and I stayed here over the weekend and the place was nice and clean! It was close to everything. I would definitely comeback!

    View from our room

My boyfriend booked and I was left speechless. Beautiful view of the Boardwalk from our bed! Staff is awesome, friendly and very hospitable. Clean and spacious room. We definitely are coming back again.

Everything, the place is filthy had bugs. The bathtub wouldn't drain sheet rock was exposed paint peeling in the shower area mold growing on the baseboards in the corner of the room absolutely disgusting. I killed bugs every time I went into the restroom I have pictures to show and they would not refund me for one night, throughbooking.com. DONT RECOMMEND GO ELSEWHERE!!!! Trust me.

The worst hotel experience I have ever had. My girlfriend and I enter, she starts taking a shower and alerts me to a DIRTY TAMPON left in the bathroom bin. I let Ashish (manager) know, and he lets Sandra (cleaning staff) know. Sandra sees the bloody tampon and apologizes profusely. My girlfriend gets out and we both decide we need to leave asap, so we go down and request a refund from Ashish. He starts explaining he is "very busy" and how much of a hassle it will be to let his higher up know, and offers us a "nice room" on the top floor. We decline and again, ask for a refund. He takes back the keys and tells me I will be refunded. We leave the property, and 6 minutes later he calls me with a raised voice, saying he sees no problem with the room. I am reiterating the tampon issue and he doesn't seem to understand the gravity of it, finally I ask him if he understands that a used tampon has blood on it, and he says yes, but "all of his rooms are clean". I also reiterate that he agreed to refund me, but is now refusing. He is arguing with me over the phone for nearly 10 minutes, then tells me to come down and show him the picture. Definitely not, I went through Airbnb and got my money back. Here's you picture Ashish, I got my money back anyways.

Regarding my last post and the apology that accompanied it from the business owner, i never received an email or phone call and never received my refund

A friend and I stayed here for two nights last weekend. She had made the reservation and I wasn't exactly looking forward to the stay, in light of so many terrible reviews, including such things as a hole in an ironing board cover! Geez you guys. Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised with our room. The owners have obviously been working hard to make the rooms much nicer for their guests. All of the furnishings were new--great TV, wi-fi, coffee maker with all the fixin's. The bathroom and vanity had new fixtures as well. The room was very clean and smelled fresh. The linens were fresh and of good quality. The bedspread and drapes were new and very attractive. I regret that I didn't take photos upon first entering the room but by the time it occurred to me, our belongings would have detracted from the overall effect. We were facing the Boardwalk and at night, the lights and distant sounds were enjoyable. Santa Cruz is not exempt from the homeless problem. A couple of times, some folks (2) were sitting in the shade of the stairwell and we said hello as walked up the stairs to our room. They were polite and quiet and we weren't sure if they were folks without homes but they weren't bothering anyone and just needed shelter from the August sun. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and were happy to return "home" to our room after a fun day in Santa Cruz. It's not cheap, but IT'S THE BEACH, people and the location is great. I would definitely return and even try and get the same room again. We liked it, and it contributed to memorable stay in lovely Santa Cruz.

    Really? $250 for this?

Thank Buddha we took Lysol and Clorox wipes with us. I am writing this as a warning to anyone thinking of staying here. The place is absolutely horrifying and disgusting. We paid $250.00 for 1 night for a room that should cost about $60.00 for the condition it's in. I will attach pictures as proof. Dark spots/stains on almost everything. Including the lamp shades, sliding curtain & even the ironing board! We did not feel safe taking our shoes off in the shower or even using their dingy towels. We had to spray everything down with Lysol, and I do mean EVERYTHING. The only positive things I can think of are the location & that the room had a fridge. We also had an uncomfortable view of the neighbor's entire backyard & family bbq while sitting on the balcony. Never again.

Well I have slept in whore houses in Colombia that were nicer than this place. Hard to Imagine this is what you get for $200+ a night. 1. They were ripping up the walkway in front of our room and replacing it with power tools during the day. 2. Room smelled like cigarettes. 3. Room generally in disrepair, carpets so old and gross we didn't want to walk barefoot on them. 4. Better hope you don't score a balcony, although the view is nice, the dyke next to the road bounces sound right into your room off this very busy street. 5. My camping mat is more comfortable than their beds. After our first night we demanded a refund, no surprise we didn't get it. They even refused to reimburse us for the upcoming night so we actually cut our weekend trip a day short and went home rather than spend another night in this shit hole.

I highly recommend the second floor rooms. You can still see the view from the first, but they have plants growing up over the fence so it is harder to have the full view. They serve fresh cookies, breakfast in the morning, and always have tea, water, and coffee in the office. It's nice and cozy in there with a couple tables to enjoy your food or drink. There are also tables outside. Unfortunately they do not have a spa or pool. They do have some rooms with a spa tub. Our room was on the smaller size. There are no air conditioners in the room. In the closet was a fan and a space heater. We had our window open at night for the fresh ocean breeze and that kept Us cool enough for an August evening. We had a mini fridge, microwave, and safe in another closet. No coffee maker or complimentary water in the room. That is all located in the office. The bathroom was a great size for two of us. It was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and soap. I don't recall seeing a blow dryer. The bed was ok. Not uncomfortable, but not comfortable. Location is great. The pier and boardwalk are all walking distance. Lots of restaurants and shops. The hotel is on a cliff so there is not direct access to the beach. You do need to walk a little bit down the street to gain access, but it is a very short walk. I highly recommend staying here. I can not wait to go back.

They advertised with the promise of a "view of the ocean from every room" this is probably true for every room but ours. We stayed in the cottage studio for a weekend which was fine but also not cheap - however needed with our kids and wanted the large patio/balcony. We booked directly on their site and saw the photos and they did not include the reality. Instead of an ocean view we had large plants blocking every part of the view except for the far edges. We were the only balcony with this. It was frustrating as there was no hanging out with a nice view while there. There is also no beach access and the walk up and down the hill to the pier access is steep and tedious. Just fyi. So if you just want to chill and don't care about seeing the ocean stay in the cottage studio, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. We were disappointed.

He told us that if they were locked on our car, they would not be stolen and it was a safe garage. That was so helpful! Since we had struck up conversation, we asked him where to have dinner. He had several recommendations, and we asked about a local place nearby, which said was one of his favorites. After we had taken our bikes and gone for a long long bike ride, we returned and saw the valet outside the hotel. He questioned us on our ride and wondered how our afternoon had been. Super thoughtful person. Our room was clean and large and very much in line with an expectation from a Hyatt place. Considering this Hyatt place isn't very old, some of the furnishings and fixtures were quite worn. Also, considering that this was a Sunday, the hotel was full. I imagine that this is an often used hotel and many families stay here. The breakfast was as expected, but there was only one hostess, and she really could not keep up the amount of people eating the food. Often, the food was low and the coffee was out three times while we were eating breakfast. When informed, she did replace and replenish things. She was very overworked, and they really needed two people doing this job. I would recommend staying at this Hyatt place. I was informed by the front desk that I needed to speak to the manager. I was transferred to the manager numerous times and the manager did not answer and the manager did not return any of my calls. I left a few voicemails regarding the issue along with my phone number, but the manager never called back. I also left messages with the front desk to have the manager reach out to me regarding these charges, and the manager never called back. I don't know who the manager is at this hotel, but it is extremely unprofessional not to return customers calls regarding charges or issues. I had to take up the issue with my credit card and submitted all my proof to my credit card so I could get the money back. Thankfully, my credit card was able to return the funds.
