I bought a car here, based on an Internet quote. The experience was relatively painless. But when I recently needed a replacement key, service sucked. We specifically made an appointment to get a replacement key, and then drove down. When we arrived, we were informed not only that the keys cost $20 more per key than we were quoted on the phone, but that furthermore they had NO key blanks available. This was after we had made an appointment specifically to get the keys replaced & driving down. We still decided to get the oil change. The bill then included a replacement key, which of course we had not received. Be forewarned. They will make an appointment without confirming the availability of the necessary parts. read more

I never ever EVER intended to pay full price for a car but I wanted the 2017 Ridgeline and I had to. I made the mistake of taking my Civic here for it's 60,000 mile general service checkup. Well, primarily I went in because there was a screw lodged into my tire. Man, I feel stupid! I thought I was doing the right thing by being proactive and trying to take care of my car... but Ocean Honda virtually robbed me. Basically, they did some very run-of-the-mill tasks, like tire rotation, an oil change, and standard inspections. I was quoted ~700 dollars going into it, which I thought was very steep, but at least I knew they had a shuttle service and I would be able to conveniently get back to work without missing too much time. They called me at the end of the day, after the car had been there for around 7 hours, and said that not only would they need to keep it overnight, but they would need to completely replace the brakes. I was skeptical about this, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. I finally picked up the car the next day at around 2:00 in the afternoon. They charged me a total of 1321.00!!!! I looked over the bill, and the labor charge was over 900.00!!!!!! I couldn't believe it, but of course I had to just go ahead and pay it. They don't offer any payment plans. So basically, don't take your vehicle here for servicing unless you're prepared to pay a TON of money for labor charges. And if they recommend that you get a 60,000 mile checkup, just ignore them, because all they're going to do is add some fluid and rotate your tires, and hold the car for a long time so they can charge you hourly for the "work" they're doing on it the whole time. Maybe this was partially my fault for being naive, and thinking it would be a good idea to go with a reliable company in order to service my vehicle.... but really, just go local. There are tons of other places in town that would give better service and not murder you financially. read more

The staff and management took care of me like I was a part of the family. They shuttled me to and from work in a timely fashion. I have had credit issues in the past, and still get VEEEEERRRY nervous when spending over $100 on anything besides groceries. Lucas and Kali the finance lady were kind, thoughtful, and upfront about the whole process. They were able to get me an awesome rate, much lower than I was able to find on my own. Lucas picked me up at my workplace and drove me to the dealership in my new car when it was time to sign the paperwork and I needed a ride. The finance person, Kali, was AWESOME. Professional but very engaging and funny, she didn't try and sell me anything I didn't need, but was helpful in explaining the coverage I decided I did want. We worked with Eddie Thomas, Lenny and Conor to find, finance and accessorize a 2013 CRV LX. I could not have been more taken care of or comfortable during the experience. Eddie was straight forward with what could and could not be done and helpful to ensure the monthly payments and APR was something I was 100% happy with...plus the sandwich bar is a nice touch after four hours of negotiating and paper work. Whoa... This place stinks (physically, too). We thought we would get a better treatment because we traveled all the way from Davis to look at a specific certified-used car, but all we got in return was RAGE! The salesperson who assisted or tortured us (however way you see it) was called Chance. He was extremely pushy, impatient, and arrogant. My friend had a specific price range in mind on what type of car to get, but he would consistently nag and moan to my friend about how great the used Mitsubishi was, how awesome the used Toyota was, and etc. I thought to myself, "this guy's awful, we came to a Honda dealer for a Honda, and you are selling us a Mitsubishi and a Toyota?" When we were negotiation the price, he stood so still on to his price that not even a sledge-hammer to the head would make him budge, which was $2000 above the KBB value (LOL nice try, Chance). The car was also NOT in pristine condition as described, which gave us reasons to talk down the price, but alas he didn't budge. He kept on telling us that, "my boss won't allow it" this and "my boss said this is the final offer" that. After being fed by a bunch of lies, we decided to walk out and check out another dealer in San Jose, who also had the same car for a substantially cheaper price but in a different colour. He sent his assistant out to the door to track us down and attempted to bring us back in by saying, "you guys win, but the most we can reduce is $200." WOW, how generous was that, you are still making 90% more profit from that. After a week or two, my friend received a "friendly" post-card in the mail advertising the same car we looked at, and of course, at that price, who in their right mind would buy it without negotiating. Bottom line: LIES LIES LIES and unacceptable customer service! read more

I'm really surprised by how many negative reviews there are for Ocean Honda because my experience has always been very positive. I bought my Civic there back in 2007 and have returned there for service ever since, with the exception of my 30k tune-up. Since I purchased my car from the dealership, my oil changes are always $9.95. You can't beat that price anywhere. The employees are always kind and helpful. I also appreciate that every time I go in for service, I get a call a few days later asking about my experience. They really do aim to please. I went in this morning for an oil change, a little embarrassed that my car was so dirty. (The tree in my driveway has been dripping sap on it the last few weeks.) I had planned to take it to the car wash on the way home, but when the mechanic led me back to the car, it had been cleaned! In my opinion, Ocean Honda is tops. Just my two cents. read more

While he was assisting me he noticed a lady waiting for a service associate and told her the associate with her paperwork would be right back to help her. When that associate, Wayne Sparks, came back he didn't even acknowledge her. Al got his attention and told the lady he would help her. Barely sparing her a glance, Wayne said he was going to lunch. I was shocked by his response. Al excused himself for a moment to help her, 3 minutes tops. These guys work on commission, I'm surprised this guy is able to make a living. I probably should of looked at these reviews before coming...I had high hopes, but was easily let down! -shuttle service is horrible: if you absolutely need to come here plan your own rides. Took me over two hours to get home from dropping car off. However on the way back I did have a very nice driver. -once I came back to pick up my car, the process was very rushed. I had a meeting with the manager about the shuttle and once I came back to my car- it was left on and running with no one around. It must of been left on the entire 15 minutes because the exhaust was leaking like crazy with a whole lot of water on the ground. When I asked why my car was left on this entire time, I received attitude back -I was just left with sour taste in my mouth... I paid $500 for new breaks, but then left with thinking, did I even need these? Did they do them properly? My car didn't feel all that different when leaving. But who really know? read more

My boyfriend and I walked out with 2 cars again yesterday! This is the second time in 2 years that we've gone to ocean Honda to get cars. Getting a new car is a big decision and it's not easy. I had a 2017 Honda Civic which I absolutely loved but my life called for something bigger for surfing and road trips. I wanted to go in to see what I could get and Rodney made the process seamless and efficient. He was kind and patient and gave us all the info we needed to make the right decision for us. Rodney knows so much about the cars and the features. He's not pushy or rude. He cares about his customers and wants them to feel comfortable and happy with their decisions. Thanks again to Rodney - We are customers for life!!! I will say the only reason I am changing this to 4 stars is because of the finance department. They don't seem to care about the customers and don't do their due diligence to make sure their customers have all the info they need before they leave. I got my car 2 weeks ago and left a check for a deposit. I kept wondering why it hadn't been cashed - well then I realized yesterday that I had been charged for the car I turned in. Needless to say I was not happy. I called Connor in the finance department and he was quite rude and uncaring. He said he "thought he went over this with us" and steps to take to ensure this didn't happen. He didn't. And he was unapologetic, egotistical and condescending. Not a real pleasure working with him and he did not make me feel like they were going to take care of me. Quite disappointed to say the least. Really took all the fun out of getting a new car. Now I'll have to wait weeks to get refunded for this payment that was taken for a car I haven't had in 2 weeks. Bummer. Be careful if their finance department. read more

I knew I wanted a Honda Fit when the van I was driving bit the dust. It did and I used the online guru Chris to find that they had two recent lease returns to choose from. I went, met with Steve and purchased the car with no haggling. A few weeks later, my daughters vehicle also met it's maker. If there is a half star I would give it Half. People are very FURTIVE, be CAREFUL please! My mistake is I did not research on how this dealership do their business. I bought a Honda Ridgeline Martin said its CPO in this dealership. Paid cash and wasn't able to bring home the truck with me because of no CPO paper ( a blessing in disguised) Forced to buy Honda Care which we cancelled the next day, but the finance person cashed my check even though we called it in for cancellation before the start of Monday business day. To make the story short they gave one lie after another, was asked to go back four times, still no truck and no refund for $1999.00 Honda care. After talking to Tony (arguing) I decided to cancel my purchased. Please be aware of the very clandestine sales people and manager. My Nextdoor site gave the dealership a bad review and what they have said and talk about is what I have experience. Lesson learned. read more

Today I bought my third Honda from Ocean Honda and I have all of them serviced there regularly. I know YELP reviews are never the best for car dealerships because people generally don't like the whole process of buying a car and feel manipulated. I have always felt this same way at other dealerships but have always had a good experience at Ocean. The last two cars I was able to "build" online from the Honda website and then apply for financing and basically order the car online. I e-mailed Chris O Connell the BDC manager and he e-mailed me back an invoice for the car with a link to apply for financing online. I was pleased with the price on the invoice and was approved for financing a 0.9%. It doesn't get any better than that! They even said they'd deliver it to me the following day. The next morning Robert Estrada contacted me to go over the details and get the information needed to complete the paperwork. I remembered Robert because he was the one who delivered our last car! We exchanged a few e-mails and by noon that day I had my brand new Honda Pilot. I don't use Ocean for oil changes and tire rotation because they are too far away from us to make that practical but I do always use them for the major servicing and have found them to be professional and speedy. Of course I keep buying Hondas because we drive so much and nothing much ever goes wrong with them but they do need servicing from time to time. Honda is saying there is a recall on Takata airbags, and they will give you a loaner car till you get your airbag fixed !!! Well I tried that and they want ME to give My charge card down on the FREE car rental !! They took me to Hertz and left me to deal with Hertz !! TERRIBLE !! This was my first time to Ocean Honda and my first time to a Honda dealership in the state of California. I read the negative Yelp reviews and decided to go there anyway to get my Element serviced because it is the closest Honda dealership to my office and because I wanted to go to a Honda dealership since my car has more than 197,000 miles. I got an appointment the same day--called just before 9 a.m. for a 10 a.m. appointment, which the man on the phone said would take about two hours. Once I arrived, the man in the service department told me how much the oil change, tire rotation and brake-light replacement would cost up front--$63.30. And I waited just over two hours. That was fine with me because I wasn't in a big rush. Although, he apologized for the long wait, which was a nice gesture. There was a decent waiting area with free, password-protect Wi-Fi, and there were complimentary sandwiches from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the lunch counter. A nice lady makes them fresh. It wasn't anything out of this world, but it is the only Honda dealership I've been to in multiple states that had complimentary sandwiches. The dealership also had bananas, apples and water for customers. It was a nice experience; I'd go back. read more

But this dealerships service department brings new meaning to abhorrent treatment of customers. 45 minutes of being utterly and Titanically ignored. Not a single "hello", not a meager attempt at "we'll be right with you", not a "sorry we're swamped", not anything. Just me sit-in' there with the car door open staring into space for 45 minutes waiting for the service department to grace me.
