This little liquor store is a gem! Their employees know their stuff. I needed a recommendation for a gift. After a brief conversation, Christo suggested the perfect bottle of moonshine. And then, we discovered they were sold out. He called Chad, the owner of the store, to see if they could get a bottle before I left to go back to Hawaii. No one had it anywhere, but Ocean Liquor Store made magic happen. I picked up my bottle and it is packed in my suitcase for the flight home tomorrow. This is a reminder that the service you get in these wonderful neighborhood stores cannot be taken for granted. I will be back every time I visit my brother in Alhambra. I've been coming to this liquor store for the past 5 years. It is always a good experience since it's close to me. Normally the guy who works there is very friendly and kind. When i came in today there was a new lady who i've never seen before. She asked to see my ID which I showed her (it was a passport mind you) and she saw and then had me put it away and asked again to see it. I asked her why and she was very very rude to me even though I showed it to her again. I told her she didn't need to be rude and she instantly got defensive and hostile towards me, told me she doesn't need to serve me, was saying I was rude and started trying to belittle me because of my age. I paid for my drinks and left, but it felt like she was just having a rough day and taking it out on me. I won't be coming back if she is at the counter, I just wanted to purchase my items and leave. bring back the guy with long hair! read more

Beware if using Postmates! I ordered one item they happened to be out of. Instead of informing me through Postmates, they called me to ask if I wanted something else. I didn't so they asked me to cancel the order. The problem is with Postmates new rule, if a customer cancels they still get charged. So I literally spent $15 and I got nothing! Make them cancel the order on their side! read more

The worker there kicked me out for asking for a pickup order said she had to finished the line first I was looking at her for 5 minutes she was just ignoring me when I confronted her she said I was being demanding and rude and kicked me out and said not to come back. Also the week before I waited 1 whole hour for her to finished her line because there was a lottery drawing and I didn't say anything. Lol she could've just handed me the bottle instead of making me wait but I think she was having a bad day. read more

The selection of hard liquor is much better than the other 2 liquor stores in alhambra. I would say that Super Store has the lowest price, Mega 8 has a larger selection of beer (though it's close, if not tied, with Super Store), but if you want hard liquor... I would come here. The prices are not the lowest, but they're not gouging you either. It's a good store, good staff, clean, and easy to find. I would definitely come back here for my liquor! read more

Ocean Liquor is the place! They not only have everything I need, they have a nice selection. Since I'm not an alcohol imbiber. my go to items are Slim Jim's, Flaming Hot Cheetos, lighters, scratchers, Vernor's, and condoms. The guys always are so helpful when making my selections. They could have more sunglasses and Fidget Spinners. Love the place and can't wait for my next visit. read more

If you're an irresponsible, procrastinating, lacking in detail boyfriend who (didn't necessarily forget) but waited last minute to get his girlfriend a bottle of tequila she's been dying to try (from a particular actor she loves) as part of her birthday present... then go to Ocean Liquor. These guys saved my ass. Not only were they well-stocked with this batch of tequila that's been REALLY hard to find, but the customer service from phone to in-person was on point! read more

I always get really upset when the merchant charges you 4% for using a credit card! Having a credit card system as part of doing business and you shouldn't be charging your customers so you can stay in business! This is a cheap ass liquor store! read more

Been holding back a review for four weeks now, but so far, Ocean is the best liquor store I've been to in my area. I can't believe I've been going to the wrong liquor stores! The selection is limited in quantity, but guaranteed what they have is top notch. Chad I believe was the first guy I met when I first walked in here. I mentioned my love for Guinness and he suggested to me Modern Times' Black House. His recommendation is spot on - I can't stop picking this beer up! Another thing is delivery. My friends and I always call for delivery every weekend and they never disappoint! The beer comes cold and fast. Just be sure to order within delivery times (I just found out today delivery stopped at 11:30 pm --- we called at exactly 11:30 last night thinking it stopped at 12.) I've also had plenty of beers here that I haven't found in even the most prominent "craft liquor stores" around Alhambra, Pasadena and East LA. As I mentioned, the selection is top notch! Love this liquor store! They've got a great selection of craft beers and the guys that work there are all pretty cool. I love that it's walking distance from my house, but in case I get lazy, they also deliver! How legit is that? Imagine, one could order water, beer, hot Cheetos, Advil, and a pack of Backwoods and have it brought to the house!!! Lol. ;) Oh! They also have champagne, wine, and ... (wait for it)... One of the last true liquor stores in South Pasadena. They have decent hours and prices reflect the convenience they provide - not inexpensive, but not wallet gouging either. They're right off Huntington and offer a quick in and out experience. I don't think I've spent more than two minutes inside the store, and that includes standing in what passes for a line at the cashier. The people who own it are really cool, so it's like a nice neighborhood corner market - that happens to specialize in booze. Bottom line: convenient and quick. read more

Great selection of craft beer and they deliver. My favorite are the IPA'S. I highly recommend trying Drakes Denogonizers.. It's a triple IPA so drink with caution. Elysian Space Dust are my next fave.. Still strong and extremely delicious. read more

Driving down Huntington stressed out last weekend, went in here and got some brandy. Easy parking, fast service, nice people. I would come back if going eastbound on Huntington and needed a bottle of hooch. Was probably in the store 90 to 120 seconds. No! Really! They are that quick. This is one of the cleanest liquor stores in the USA. Amazingly, the staff is very friendly also and they have a strong beer selection. I am not sure of the prices because I am usually buzzed already when I arrive, so I don't remember. OCT07 update: The Coors Light minikeg I bought here was skunked. I had to contact Coors in Colorado to get a refund, so I downgraded the rating to four stars read more

If I could give these crooks negative stars I would. I ordered from postmates. I ordered a bottle of Moët 750 which was listed at 24.99 through postmates. The driver went and the liquor store told her the item I ordered wasn't in stock so they gave her some cheap shit bottle. They should have told the driver they didn't have the item I ordered. Good place to grab some snacks and goodies.I have been here a couple of times and I haven't been disappointed.The clerks are laid back and cool.Most of the prices are cheap.I think they could do a little bit more dusting or restocking items because i picked up a pack of crackers and the box had a tiny bit of dust on it.Some places you go to they have old cheeto bags and they have dust on the bag.Other than that this place is good.A little dust doesn't hurt nobody.lol read more

Went to buy alcohol here on my 21st birthday but the old guy cashier wouldn't let me buy it. He said I wasn't 21 until the day after my birthday. No, that isn't correct. You turn 21 or whatever age you are at the first minute of your birthday. I was with two of my friends and my boyfriend, and he let my boyfriend purchase it without checking my friends' IDs who were all at the counter as well. Pretty sure THAT is illegal, especially if he thought I was still a minor. I'm positive that hundreds of teenagers with fake IDs have been able to purchase alcohol here but I wasn't. Wow! Talk about selection!! I used to go to bevmo for craft beers, but never again. Prices are better here and Chad is very knowledgable about his beer and liquor. He's always happy to assist with recommendations and pretty much open to suggestions on the inventory. If you watched the NBA finals there was this play when Steph Curry had the ball and was going in for a lay-up. Then out of nowhere Lebron James came flying into the picture and rejected the shot from behind. Basically saying we are going to be the champs. That is what Ocean Liquor did too. There was no Shiner and then from out of nowhere the owner called this guy and he talked to the delivery guy and bam!! They are the Champs! Robert K called it, hardly any liquor stores left in South Pas; However, since that's the case. This is a good thing cuz it doesn't get any better than Ocean. Very clean, extremely well lit. New owners did a great job with spfying (msp?) up the place. Never a line and if there happens to be 3 customers, its quick. Service always with a smile. Happy to have this place around. read more

Hello my name is Chad and I'm the owner of Ocean Liquor. I started out in liquor business at the age of 16 helping my father at his store. After 8 years working in the family business, I finally got a chance to purchase my own business. I've owned Ocean Liquor since April 2008 and have been loving every minute of it. My mission is to offer excellent customer service and competitive pricing for the community. I keep an open mind when it comes to suggestions from my customers. I try my hardest to provide my customers with anything they need whether it may be a rare bottle of wine or price matching with competitors. And on behalf of my staff and myself, I would like to thank my customers for their continued support and business throughout the years.

We popped in to catch the Argentina vs. Switzerland match and ordered food nearby. Him at Gus's nextdoor and me via a DoorDash drop off from Maciel's off York Blvd, less than 3 miles away. I had one of the best big gauge Lunatic brand cigars and noted a lot of others I'd come back to try or stock up on here. Service was friendly and all the guys enjoying their evening cigars were as well. Everyone really got into the games, Dodgers on the other big screen being defeated. Easy parking shared with Gus's BBQ nextdoor, which had non-stop foot traffic. Plenty of gents trickled in to the Fair Oaks as well. We had a couple of sodas here, nice and cool from their cold box with water and other ready to grab bevs, but no cocktails as it's more of a spirit shop in that since. I talked and exchanged emails with the store manager for a couple of weeks including the day before the event to ensure that everything was good and ready to go and I got confirmation that all was well and ready to be delivered. The order was supposed to be delivered to the venue at 11am for the party which was starting at 6pm to allow time for bartender to refrigerate the beer and prepare for the event. I get a call from the venue 20 minutes before the party is starting telling me that the order was never delivered. I frantically call BevMo to find out what happened. The person that answered the phone had no clue so after my insistence, he said let me try to go check. He came back and calmly said "the order is in the back and it never went out". Didn't attempt to offer any resolution. After more insistence and back and forth, I finally convinced him to call the store manager. Thankfully they put a rush order on the delivery, but it arrived almost an hour after the event had started. I conveyed to the store manager how upset I was that things were late, that no one had contacted me, that guests would be served warm beer, etc. She said she would talk to her staff the following Monday to find out what happened to ensure it never happened again and that she would get back to me about how they could redress the situation. Monday came and went. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday... Finally on Friday I sent the manager an email letting her know that I never heard back and that I was willing to communicate and share more details about my poor customer service experience. I got back a short email on Saturday saying that I wouldn't be charged the delivery fee and that they would take $20 off my $500 order. Needless to say, I will not be doing business with them again in the future.

We don't live too far from here my sister and I decided to stop in and check it out since it was fairly new to open up a couple of weeks ago. Decided to check it out and we got extremely lucky I was able to find a parking spot here. We typically go to the store on on Huntington and San Gabriel and sounds a little closer to home and thought that the parking would be a little bit easier here but we were dead wrong. I feel like the parking is a little bit worse and there's a lot more cars being able to come in from different directions so if felt more chaotic here for sure. The store is pretty big and it took over another supermarket chain location. But everything is pretty standard and felt pretty big here. What can always be expected are some great snacks and food items here at trader Joe's. It was fun buying something unique sounding and finding a new favorite item to buy. Are the big fan of the ostrich motif on the wall. South Pasadena used to do a lot of ostrich races back in the day or not even that far back. But it has strong ties to the community. So that's subtle nod the decor is pretty neat. I'll have to do research about other locations now that I know they do Easter eggs like this. The store seemed fairly big so it didn't seem too crowded and there was a lot of registers open. I feel like the biggest bottleneck could be finding parking but that's not a new thing for trader Joe's typically.

I commented on the wait for the drink and was told they couldn't find us, which sounded strange because they found us when bringing the sandwich and we still had our order number. But she said we could get a free refill. Since I wanted to take advantage of the refill I went inside to inquire but the order counter had gotten extremely busy. So I asked one of the bus/wait staff outside if they could grab my refill. He directed me inside and he commented how busy they were but I said I didn't want to wait in the huge line simply for a refill, so he offered to meet me inside to get the refill. Eventually I did receive the refill and we left. Overall, for the price of the food I felt the service was very average bordering on subpar, and the food was meh for the price. I don't blame the staff as they all seemed to be working very hard, but perhaps they were understaffed which would be more of a management issue. We basically bussed a couple tables on our own and waited what eventually amounted to 20-25 minutes for an ice tea/lemonade. I pre-tipped when I bought the food, which I kind of regretted but also felt bad that the employees were understaffed so I likely would have left a tip anyways. I don't plan to go back anytime soon. Wish the food and service were better

My husband had a great conversation with one of the guys behind the counter about the shop's minimalist decor, and we learned Two Kids has been thriving for 10 years. I think I'd probably do better with fast food salad. Now I'm also worried about getting sick from the bites I took. I definitely won't come back. Who knows what do they put in their smoothies..: The additional star is for a wrap I got a while ago that tasted good.
