Probably one of the cleanest and quietest hotels we ever stayed in. Probably one of the cheapest as far as cost. We did not get a room with a view, but that's okay given we were just spending the night. If we stayed longer, it might make a difference, how much time does anyone stay in a hotel room except to sleep! Room was roomy enough for two. Nice big comfortable bed. Extremely clean bathroom. We opted to pay extra for the parking which is very secure and guaranteed we have parking inside. Nice friendly staff. Even the folks inside the cafe were very friendly especially the lady who told us where the white rock is. BTW it's now painted white and it's huge! We will definitely come back. It's a little far to Vancouver, but we are on holiday so we're not in any hurry. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here . Our room was clean and nicely detailed . Our bathroom was small but clean and with all the shampoo. clean towels and soaps . . The ocean view is lovely . The beds very comfy . The staff we found kind and helpful at all times . Do know though one has to pay for overnight parking which comes to about $24 per night after all the taxes . We tried out the East Beach Finlay cafe in the hotel and it's excellent with reasonable prices for breakfast or lunch . I also love that the hotel cafe have a heated ocean view patio as well . Do note that White Rock beach has an active railway so do expect train noises at least 2-3 times in the middle of the night and early morning. Boggles my mind people make complaints on it . It's like one complaining about airplane noises at a airport hotel. A little homework would make One realize one if the key key characteristics of White Rock is it's active runway running near the beachfront . read more

A very mixed review... We stayed in a corner suite with an amazing ocean view. The suite itself was spacious and beautifully decorated. A fabulous kitchen and "fireplaces" in the living room and bedroom. The bedroom had this amazing jetted tub. The bed was comfy to the max. Very comfortable indeed.... Here lies the issue..... When you are in your amazing comfy bed, your sleeping experience will end quickly... We had long, very loud trains flying past our room thoughout the night... At least 7 or 8... we are still counting. We could feel the room shaking when some of the trains were passing by... If you bring ear plugs (probably won't help) or are a heavy sleeper, we recommend you stay here.. read more

I checked into my room and there was a pubic hair on my towels!!!! When I asked the front desk to come and replace it that said I had to come downstairs and get it myself! Disgusting! Edited to add now that I've spent the night: This place is extremely noisy. Trains rumble by at all hours of the night. The spin cycle on the hotel's laundry room washing machine rattles away all night, too. Housekeeping makes a racket early in the morning, all sorts of banging and whatnot. Strange smells in my room, too. Don't let the cute location and nice looking rooms fool you, this place is a dump. Edit number 2 because it just keeps getting better: spoke with the manager, who seemed to be a nice enough fellow. But during that conversation a young lady very urgently rushes out of the back office to interrupt us and hand the manager a note, which apparently stated that I left this review. So does it matter that I shared my opinion? Will that make you treat me any differently? Apparently so because when I got back to my room today, they hadn't changed the sheets like I asked. I was offered free parking for one of two nights for all my trouble but that's about it. This place could be cute, but the staff is so unprofessional that it really ruins it. read more

Well the place is on a corner so if you have an ocean view I am sure it would be amazing. Be prepared to pay for parking. The beds are just ok. We did not have a view. Our room overlooked the other building. Nice staff and clean rooms. Not a great place for plugging in your electronics. We had to use the lamp outlets.... They do offer coffee and tea in your rooms. The bathroom floors are heated tiles... That was nice to get out of the shower and onto a warm floor. If I stay here again I would get a room with a view for sure. read more

Pros - This place is a great deal.. we got a one bedroom overlooking the ocean. Had a kitchen and 2 washrooms. Super cute ! Really convenient with coffee shop downstairs that also serves breakfast and wine! Walking distance to the shops and amenities. And love the two TVs and TWO electric cozy fireplaces. AND loved the heated tile bathroom floors! Really nice staff. Spacious room. Cons - it's supposed to be two queens but they were doubles. The beds are soft and pillows lumpy so I woke up with a sore back (but if u prefer soft beds this is a pro). At night the train is loud and shakes the beds. I slept through them all though. Sofabed was also uncomfortable. I would stay again but bring my own pillow. It's a good 3 star though! read more

More than decent, TERRIBLE noise in room 107 Found The Ocean Promenade on a Google search as we were driving from Portland to Vancouver. It looked decent enough for a one-night stay with my wife and two children. Booked a room through hotels.com. We arrived and were greeted by the front desk clerk. The room was clean and comfortable, check-in was easy. Parking in the garage was for a fee, but not unreasonable. We arrived late and asked about somewhere close to eat (the hotel website says the attached restaurant is open for dinner, it's not). The clerk was knowledgeable about local places and referred us to the Washington Avenue Grill, which was absolutely phenomenal. Shortly after we returned to our room, we heard a horrible, annoying noise... It sounded like someone running a blender next door, against the shared wall with our room. I called the desk and told them about it, thinking it was maybe caused by the heater. They promptly sent someone to the room to shut off the heater. The terrible sound returned, every couple of hours for the entire night. I found that pressing against the wall made the sound go away, but was not about to do that for the twenty to thirty minutes the sound continued each time If we had not unpacked and both kids had not been mostly if not fully asleep, we would have changed rooms. I cannot begin to imagine how the hotel was not already aware of this. I do not know what caused it, and when I showed the front desk clerk the video I recorded the next morning, they apologized and credited my parking fee. read more

By far the worst hotel experience I have ever had in all my travels domestic and international. I booked the hotel through hotels.com and had a confirmation. The lady at the front desk refused to check me in as she did not receive an email on her side. This may not be their problem, but it is definitely not mine either. The receptionist refused to try and help and simply gave me two options: I call hotels.com or I pay for another room that was not the one I originally reserved. I asked if possible to pay now and have them refund me after when the confirmation came through, I was told this was an impossibility. After an hour of trying to contact hotels.com I gave up and paid for the room. Tired my gf and I just wanted to take a bath that we booked the room for and listen to music. Upon arriving at the room, the bathtub was smaller than described and couldn't be enjoyed with two people. The front desk came up and started banging on our door because the music was too loud, but they could have easier called the phone and we would have answered as it wasn't even 10% of the tv volume. Instead they choose to bang aggressively at the door. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Finally in the morning, I asked the same receptionist if she received my confirmation. She said yes at 3:30am. That's not their fault, but treating me as if I'm a liar is ridiculous. They could have easily taken a hold on my card and charged it if it didn't come through. But now I have been dealing with hotels.com for 3 days and still have not received my refund! Not only that, I asked the hotel to give me a picture of the time of the received email from hotels.com at the time so that I could if need be contact my credit card company to get my refund, and she refused to be of any assistance. The rooms look nice, but I will never stay at this hotel again, due to the unprofessional behaviour of the front desk staff and the handling of the situation. 1star or 5 stars? Your experience will REALLY DEPEND on which suite you get. I've stayed in several suites here and honestly I have had 1 star stays, 3 star stays and 5 star stays. So I'll average out my review to 3 stars and tell you how this works. If you get a suite on the outside of the hotel, those ones can get motel-ish and ghetto. If you're near a pet suite, take into consideration that dogs may bark. If you have pets and go into a studio pet suite on the outside, man, those can get gross. I had a 1 star experience doing that with my dog. The bed was super creaky, hard and loud, wtf. The tub had sand and dirt in it. The room was super dusty. The air had poor ventilation and smelled like dog, and the door had lots of dog scratch marks on it. I cranked the window open all the way and it still felt gross. I shared a hallway with another pet suite and I heard that idiot rumble his luggage and dog in at midnight since the hallway was laminate flooring. Paid $130 for what felt like a dirty motel stay worth $50. The great suites are the ones facing full ocean view or partial ocean view. They are inside the hotel like real hotel suites and the hallways have carpeted flooring so you don't hear people rolling their luggage. Go for the full-out premium suites if you can (with living room, bedroom, patio, and kitchen) and you will have a 4 - 5 star experience. They seem to really maintain cleanliness and care on those specific suites. The beds are very comfy too, a completely different ecperience from staying at those outside suites and studio pet suites. Now, for the suites facing full ocean view, you will get the best view but there is that blasted train. Bring ear plugs if you get woken easily because trains are loud. Luckily, the train ran only once through my night stay, but I read a review below where it came by 7 times. I guess it's luck of the draw. Staff experience is also random. If you get a young gentleman with a beard in the daytime, he is a superstar with excellent customer service. If you get one of the night staff, it depends. There was a fenale with curly red or brown hair who was so-so and seemed annoyed if you had questions. Again, luck of the draw. read more

Hotel/motel from HELL. I stayed at this crap motel for 5 days when I visited Vancouver May 2018. Didn't get any sleep the entire time I stayed there. A basic hotel which makes me appreciate newer hotels which have digitally controlled heat. There are 2 heat settings and 2 cold settings. Turn the knob to the thicker dashes for higher heat. Secured underground parking at $13 a day. Once you check in, you are not assured you'd stay dry. You might get a room across the hallway so you'd need to exit an additional door to the outside to get to the adjoining building. Double doors to my room kept some cold and noise out. Although housekeeping made a point of vacuuming this area at exactly 10 minutes prior to checkout. Then leaves the outer door open. Lol! Nice touch is the gum in the peephole. Room is fairly large for Vancouver standards. Mini bar fridge, coffee machine and some toiletries and hairdryer. Safe deposit box and ironing board etc. This room looks out to another building and if you walk out there's a small "atrium". I'd say the room is fairly clean and adequate. Furniture needs updating but the beds were clean and comfortable. A HUGE plus: heated bathroom floors! Nice! Showers have good pressure. There's a vending machine and ice machines. I would think summer is preferable to walk along the river opposite the hotel. read more

This hotel was great, we were here for 5 nights. The location is wonder as it is right across from the beach. I was working from the hotel room and the internet was great. We had a suite with a balcony on the front overlooking Marine Drive, it was pretty noisy and next time I would probably request a room off the street. The only downfall is the noise of the trains that go buy every hour all night long and blow the horns, however after the 2nd night we were used to it. I would certainly stay here again! read more

At one point, I was wondering if the staff was rude or just distant. I haven't decided (not enough interactions to tell) so I give them the benefit of the doubt. Stayed here for a December weekend. Good hotel, get a room with a view as it's worth it! The fireplace heaters are nice, although would have been better to have a real fireplace but still nice. Full kitchen with breakfast bar was awesome and gorgeous. Next time I want a jacuzzi room :) We spent our day walking to shops/restaurants. It was quite close, a few restaurants within a 2 min walk, more within 15 minutes, and within 30 minutes you can be in the centre of town. Just watch out for the hills! read more

We reserved a two bedroom condo for two nights. We stayed at the main floor which I don't recommend since there is no privacy if you seat outside on the balcony plus there isn't a view. My friends stayed one level up and the view was really nice. If you go there ask to stay at least on the second floor. Few trains go by during the day, but unless you don't want to stay at a place near the water you can't avoid it. Great location, you just cross the street and the beach is right there. At first when we checked in, we found out that the room was actually occupied, so what they did is that they gave us top level room with the view to the ocean. Everything seemed clean and modern. First off the management here is terrible. Front desk "manager" as he referred to himself doesn't understand what customer service is. Website room descriptions are not accurate. partial ocean view rooms SHARE a balcony with another room. By SHARE I'm mean your room only has physical access to the balcony but the adjoining room has 2 huge Windows that look out onto it.......... First night- We hear the adjoining door slam shut. My wife and I go out on OUR balcony that we paid for and see a man wanking himself on his bed, lights on, blinds completely open. It was late so we just went in disgusted and went to bed. Next afternoon- On my way back from a day golfing at Morgan Creek golf course(very nice track) I spoke to the manager about the whole situation (mainly their lack of disclosure about the balcony "views" or view we got of that guy) and he told me that we didn't have to go out on the patio and this wasn't an emergency..... He told me I could pay an additional $60 per night to move to a room that had an ocean view with a balcony that didn't share windows with another room. I told him that we were not paying anymore $ and we needed to be moved. This guy just doesn't get it.... The fact really wasn't about what the guy was doing but the point that when you pay for an oceanfront balcony you would expect people on the left or the right wouldn't be looking directly out on your balcony, let alone you having to see them do his business. Sooo. About 3 hours after I spoke to the manager(I will post his name once I get it) I hear the adjoining door slam again...... Mr. Wanker was back at it again with his lights on and blinds open. I took a picture this time for proof and immediately went down to the front desk. He called the room and told the man to shut the blinds because we were disturbed by what we saw!!! He still wouldn't move us to the other room unless we paid the additional 60 per night??? The man in the room still has the blinds open with the lights off. Now my wife and I don't even feel comfortable going out on the balcony because the blinds are open and the manager just called him out for his "acts" We are staying here for 6 nights and we will be leaving on day 3 if they don't at least get us a comparable room with NO balcony windows that look into someone else's room. The manager didn't even take into consideration this terrible review of his hotel when I told him I was going to write . I would hope the owners of this hotel would have acted differently.... Why hire someone who would let your hotel get a terrible review opposed to just moving someone's room when you know you are in the wrong which has led to a situation 2 nights in a row. read more

It all started okay then we saw our room. A big toe nail on the floor grossed us out. Then we went out on our deck and realized we were looking right in on our neighbor's room.she ended being a sad and lonely sourpuss and complained about our music which wasn't loud at all and it was coming from the radio supplied by the hotel. What's with that? Supply every room with a radio and TV you can't use? The walls must be paper thin. We'll be sure to never return! read more

HORRIBLE !!!! I checked into the Ocean Promenade at the end of May and dropped my suitcase off in the room they gave me. I left my suitcase open and my wallet visible because it was my room. Then i went to my wedding reception, after my wife and I came back to find our key didn't work. Went to the front desk and found out they went into my room closed my bag and gave the room to another guest. Not only did they enter our room with out permission but they removed my suitcase and put a note on it "bag found in room". Long story after that but the end result was the manager told us to "forgive and forget" .... I would NEVER recommend this hole of a hotel to anyone who knows who will enter your room. read more

My boyfriend and I rented a Jacuzzi suite specifically for the Jacuzzi. When we arrived, we began to fill the tub, and then turned on the jets. The sound of the jets was so loud, we had to shout to hear each other. Not exactly romantic! Not only that, but the jets vibrated against the side of the tub, so when we laid our heads against the tub, we got headaches from the shaking. The tub obviously needed some maintenance. When we called to switch rooms, the woman at the front desk was very understanding, and said she would look into it, but then didn't call us back for 2 hours. By that time we had unpacked and started making dinner, so we didn't want to pack up and move. We asked for a discount on our stay because of the malfunctioning Jacuzzi and she said she would leave a note for the manager. The following morning the manager still hadn't been in to the hotel, and the new woman at the front desk couldn't do anything to rectify the situation. No complimentary breakfast vouchers, no offering to pay for our parking, nothing. We emailed the manager as soon as we got home, but didn't receive a reply for 2 days. He refused to do anything to make up for our recent stay except offer $50 off our next stay. Not only were we disappointed in the Jacuzzi, we were upset that his staff a) forgot us, and b) couldn't do anything in the morning to make up for it, and caused us to leave frustrated and cheated. Because of this, we have no plan to return, not even for a $50 voucher. Hotels should have staff on duty at all times that can handle matters such as this, instead of having to say "you'll have to speak to the manager" every single time, or being too busy to help guests. We do not recommend staying at this hotel. And if you do, don't expect much service. And although we knew the hotel had train tracks next to it, we didn't expect to hear trains going by all night. Plus, the mini fridge motor made noises all night. We had to wear earplugs to get to sleep. read more

Don't be fooled by the location of this Hotel. I've never had such rudeness and inability to provide even basic service from any hotel or even any service oriented business ever! Luba was the rudest hotel staff I've ever come across. My experience starts with a personal visit to them, having driven over an hour from my home. I dropped in to view the rooms and ask for rates of the two rooms I viewed. The one I liked, the 1 bdrm Oceanfront Jacuzzi suite, for a 1 night stay I was told would cost $269.00 (same as that same rooms rate on their web site) I called back the next day to book and while Francis at first wanted to charge me a lot more, he said he would honor the rate but then said he couldn't help me book it at that moment as someone came up to his desk and so instead of finishing my request, he said he had to go and would call me back. I asked him to hold the room for me and he said he would (since he chose not do it at that time) Well, he never did call me back! I called the next day and the new front desk staff, Luba, couldn't find the 'hold' in their computer system and so she said she wouldn't honor it. I asked her to talk to Francis to confirm the rate and hold and Luba said "No, that's irrelevant", and then she proceeded to say she could do $299.00 but nothing less. She put me on hold 4 x's during that small conversation (without asking) and then she said "I can't help you right now bye bye" and then hung up on me! Can you believe it! I've never! So I decided to call her back and heard the phone get picked up but immediately switched to hold. I put it on speaker and proceeded to hold longer then it took me to write this review. After looking online I can see they have many bad reviews and most likely 'deleted' all reviews they've gotten on facebook since there's nothing on their besides their own posts. My Boyfriend works overseas, and we barley see each other. We both decided to book a room in the day with Ocean front view in April 2012. I reserved a day room 2 weeks in advance, I asked for something with a view. Obviously, in the day most of their rooms are vacant. We received a room somewhere in the middle court of the building where our windows faced other windows. The Ocean Promenade website pictures make the rooms look so clean and extravagant. Our room sucked, it was dark and looked like a 1 star hotel room. When I went to turn on the heater, the heater box was dusty and dirty. Honestly our room seemed clean, but when I noticed small things such as the dirty heater box and the icky corners of the room, it was a turn off. We wil definately not go back to this hotel again. For $279 we could have got something better. read more

I had a great experience here! When I arrived the service was prompt and friendly. I booked completely last minute yet they were able to accommodate me and even apologized for not being able to give me a room with ocean view. The room was clean, modern, and cozy. Some unexpected extras were the fireplace, iPod dock, and in-floor heating in the bathroom. One thing I wasn't so excited about was that the room didn't have a balcony and the window opened onto the balcony of the room next door. So if they are using their deck it's a bit awkward to have your curtains or window open. Seemed like an odd design. Also there is a long list of all the TV channels but only about 1/3 are actually available. Otherwise it was great- bed was comfy, room was soundproof, everything was clean and well kept, the location was unbelievable, and the price was very reasonable considering! I may make it an annual trip. read more

rooms are nice, but if you come back too late on a weekend night (friday/sat) dont expect to park im their garage. Youll need to park on the street, which is fine if you are from the area and know how the timing works. I was told by hotel staff its only $3 to park overnight and they would reimbusre me, said fine, that's cool. Found my parking spot, went to pay machine, machine asks how long i will be parking my vehicle, i figured atleast 10 hours, paid, and its $30.00, not $3.00, went to front desk and they said they would not reimbusre $30, said its free after midnight and that he told me it was only $3. whole its true that he said its only $3, he didn't give specifics on how to enter time in machine, so the machine said $30, and thats what i went with, didnt feel i had a choice. went to show receipt and get reimbursed and was told by another member of staff "no" and very rude at that. im a very calm person, nothing gets me too riled up, but i have to say that this person stance was unprofessional, uncaring and simply uncalled for. im not from the area, im not familiar with the parking time frames of when charges apply and dont apply. at this point its less about the cash and more about the treatment. great rooms, service up to tbis piint has been great, stayed for almost three weeks last year, felt like home then, but tonight, never have been so disappointed in treatment. read more

The customer service was horrible. The fridge was Broken and we found hairs in our bathtub. The front desk would only change us rooms if we paid the differnce for the upgrade they didn't seem to care or concern in the situation. They didn't want to do anything for us didn't offer any discounts for anything. We still paid full price for everything. The staff was rude and completely unhelpful and didn't give a crap about what what we were saying, if we would have been able to find anothe hotel to accommodate our family I would have walked out it was a fight to have them have a maid come back to outlet room and reclean it after finding the hairs in the tub(GROSS) . I called down for pillows around 6pm and they showed up with towels and a blanket (not what I asked for) and never returned with the pillows. Not to mention that the next morning every time we passed the housekeepers they asked us it we were ready to check out. we past the NEVER will I EVER stay the or recommend this place to anyone. read more

What an awful experience. I should have run the other direction when they took a $200 DAMAGE DEPOSIT before telling me they were going to do it. I mean, I understand holding a bit back for incidentals when there actual ARE things like a mini bar or a restaurant where additional charges can be incurred. This place has neither. What it did have was the noisiest room I've ever stayed in, I mean we could hear our neighbors eating, cooking, talking, yelling...and that was just the beginning. We had a clogged shower drain, a fridge that rattled so loudly that it woke us repeatedly forcing us to unplug it ultimately. A DVD player that was not hooked up to the TV whose remote contained no batteries, and trains going by. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable -- but that is ALL I can say about our lousy stay in this hotel. Never going back, and I don't recommend it. read more
