I wouldn't trust just anyone with them and years ago drove to Raleigh for this level of care. It just wasn't available. I have found the entire clinic to be exceptional. They don't kiss ass, they are purely professional and they have to be. They herd cats all day long and somehow manage to remain CONSISTENTLY upbeat. I recommend them without critique. If you pay for DVM care? Why not go to the best clinic in town and arguably (who's arguing?) one of the best in the state. Bird Owners Beware…read more First, I take responsibility for arriving late. I underestimated holiday traffic and called to say I'd be 15 minutes late, but it turned into 30. That's on me. What is not okay is how they handled my critically ill parakeet Blue. Despite an empty waiting room and parking lot, with the clinic still open for another 30+ minutes, they turned us away. The receptionist claimed the doctors had "left," but then went to speak with them when pressed further, so she lied at first. They still refused and referred to my bird as "it". "You can drop it off tomorrow." Lady, her name was Blue and you had her chart right in front of you! I even told them I wasn't sure she'd even make it to morning, and was basically met with a shrug and no recommendations. They treated me like I just committed a crime or something. During a previous visit with my African Grey parrot, I got the impression they were uncomfortable with birds, but I gave them another chance with my parakeet. Now it's clear they are not a good fit for feathered patients! I will never understand how a vet can turn away a dying animal so coldly. Shame on Paws and Claws "Animal" Hospital.

I had my dog and three cats there from July 1 to July 10. When I went to pick them up I paid the bill and they put my cats into their cages. in my car and I went home. When I got home my dog kept crying all over the house and then I looked at my cat and he had been attacked my another cat there. His eye was infected and three scratches on his face. I took him to the vet the next day and he was put on three medications. THey never called me to tell me he was like this. The vet bill we over two hundred dollars pluse meds. I called them and the manage there said my dog was only let out three times to go to the bathroom. She was locked up and I was told never played with the other dogs. I paid them the dulex boarding for her. All that time she was in her cage alone. I also found out they use tazers on the dogs to. I had one that fell in my dog bag and thats how I new they did this. We were respectful, proactive, and always paid our bills--until a single miscommunication in April 2025 led to an unpaid check. I contacted the clinic immediately and Dr. Reinhart personally said it was not a problem. Days later, we tried to refill a prescription through a military-discount pharmacy. Her staff denied the request, citing the unpaid balance and a claim we hadn't "been seen"--both false. When I emailed the clinic, Dr. Reinhart called me not to help, but to chastise me for my "tone." She refused to discuss our prior agreement and was condescending and combative with both me and my husband. We calmly said we would find another vet. What happened next was deeply concerning: * Our dogs' records were suddenly labeled "DO NOT SERVICE" * And marked with "Muzzle - Use Caution - High Priority" These labels did not exist in over three years of previous records and were added only after our phone call. There is no documented aggression or incident that would justify them. The only muzzle notes in the file show that we muzzled them voluntarily out of caution. No vet should be allowed to weaponize medical records to punish clients for disagreements. This wasn't just unprofessional--it was unethical. We trusted her with our dogs. She responded by smearing their names.
