I went here based solely on reviews I had read. As soon as my dog went in the door she put her tail between her legs and cowered next to my husband. She has never done that. I got her the hotel room, but she did not do well. Everytime I checked she was by the door crying and barking. So I asked if she could go into play group so she wouldn't be lonely. I checked in camera and never saw her in a play group, only locked in her room barking and crying. But I did see in the play groups on camera dogs with no toys or anyone in there playing with them ever. I did see a girl go into one of the areas with a mop and when 2 dogs approached her she shoved them away with the wet mop. No pets, no acknowledgement of them, all they wanted was some attention. Worst part though I saw my dog in her room with poop all over and blood all over. They trimmed of her nails to short and it was bleeding and they didn't do anything to stop the bleeding. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. And will NEVER return. My dog was so stressed.iut when I got her home, she went straight to bed and slept until the next day. Awful. If other people are satisfied with the amount of care their dog receives here, then kiddos to them. My dog knew she didn't want to be here. read more

Their facility is great and they have lots of options available, including private hotel rooms, with a big bed, tv and window which works great for us. The owners and all of the caregivers we met are clearly dog lovers. They provide a safe and comfortable environment and treat her like family. This is one of about 6 places I toured for boarding our 2 large dogs during a recent vacation. I did not choose to board here after touring the facility. I'll say that the staff were exceptionally nice (not sure if my tour was staff or owner). The size of the rooms is great & they have a neat setup & concept with the 'bed' in many rooms & tv mounted up high. However, the facility was clean only up front in the lobby. All areas where the dogs are housed was not clean, not even close....it smelled un-pleasant & the thought of my dogs here for even a day gave me a gag reflex. I'm very sad to say that, cuz the website, cost, location, etc are all great....I really had high hopes. In fairness, it did take me SIX to finally find a CLEAN boarding facility! I brought both of my very spoiled babies for the Royal Makeover Package and they were phenomenal! The staff is so kind, gentle, and attentive. When I picked up my pups they were soft, happy, and smelled wonderful. I highly recommend taking your pups here! read more

Wow. What a great experience. I'm a new dog owner and had no idea what to expect. The groomers did a superb job. My dog was a bit nervous upon arrival but they made him feel safe and secure. Triggers first day at this day camp. He left with two huge cuts on his head. To put your trust in a facility to watch your puppy and to pick him up w injuries is the worst thing possible for a dog owner. I am disgusted and will never come back or refer anyone to come here. They should have called when it happened not when we came to pick him up. No cameras to see what really happened under their care. They waited till after we paid to tell us what happened. The people here care about their guests. And there is a web cam so We could always watch our pets. I had to leave town emergently and they stayed an extra 30 minutes after closing to accommodate my situation. Really appreciate their service. Pet rooms were clean. And there was a doggie socialization time which I'm sure my dogs appreciated. read more

I can say the barkington was an awesome loving and caring dog care place.Untill my pup got attacked and the owner c**** was very rude and couldn't even explain or pull up cameras of the incident.I can also say no apologies or even a help in paying medical bills for my pup was even a thought at the barkington. read more

Lourdes and Chris are super nice and they were amazing with our 3 dogs! They came to our home to trim our dogs' nails and they did a fantastic job, best out of anywhere we've taken them! You can tell that they love what they do, they were so gentle- our dogs actually seemed to like it while other places have told us they were difficult. This place is so awesome. They helped me out when I was in a financial bind and had to kennel my dog for a couple of days. When I picked her up, (I'm assuming) one of the owners gave her such a glowing and sweet review and I know she got well taken care of. I deeply appreciate having a place I know where my best furry friend is happy. My husband and I took our 6 month old blue tick coonhound puppy to doggy day camp at The Barkington. As soon as we walked in, my husband and I felt like our puppy was in great hands. Laura was welcoming and so kind. She gave us a tour and told us to check out their Facebook where they posted videos and pictures of throughout the day; which gave us so much joy when we saw them. Their facility is sparkling clean and there is plenty of room for the dogs to run and play. Their staff was professional and gave us a brief of his day when we picked him up. I can't recommend them enough. Take your furry friend for a day of play or overnight in one of their luxury suites. read more

Rarely do I write reviews on Yelp, good or bad. But I need to spend a moment to sing the praises of this amazing business, and the people who run it. We have recently adopted a Husky who's come from a unknown, sorted past. I have been through it with, even with the rescue, trying to figure out boarding. I was referred to by a friend. Out of the gate, Courtney answered all my questions very honestly and assure me that they loved and welcomes rescues, challenges and all. I was already sold on them due to the customer service, since I've had such bad experiences in the past. Not only is Boo (our husky) noise sensitive, she has kenneling issues, territory issues, and trust issues. We opted for the Luxury suit, (which is extremely fair price wise, as other boarding places nickle and dime you for every add on). The room was great size, an actual bed, flat screen tv, even a little dog bone on the pillow. Chris, the owner, took the time when we checked in to give us a tour, as well as let us into Boo's hotel room, to help her get comfortable. Chris is AMAZING! His passion for animals is awesome, and he knows his stuff. I felt very confident leaving my difficult doggie with him. He put me at such ease. And the idogg camera, is 100% awesome. Getting to log in and check on her, helped me feel comfortable. They let us know that round the 3 day, Boo was starting to warm up, which mean she's was starting to trust. Their patience, knowledge and kindness is a hard 10! We will use them anytime we need to board Boo again. I can't recommend this place enough, especially if you have a challenging animal that gets shot down at other "corporate" places. read more

Up until today, I highly recommended The Barkington and always gave a perfect review. First and foremost, my dismay is not with the staff. They are wonderful with all the pups. My disappointment is with Lourdes. Last Saturday I dropped my one year old pup off at 7:30 am for daycare and grooming. By 2 pm I called to see if she was ready for pickup. I was told no. I called again around 4 and was told the same thing. By 6:15 I started heading there as they close at 6:30. I waited only to be informed it would be another half hour. Rightfully so, I was upset. My dog had been there since 7:30 and I said "we do have phones to call and let us be informed." I admit I was upset, and perhaps spoke loudly, but did not yell at the staff as I was accused of. That half hour turned into one more hour and 7:30 pm, she was ready to go home. The next day I contacted Lourdes via FB messenger and inquired about the video on Instagram of the event that took place that day and asked if it can be shared on FB. Her answer "Absolutely Not!". I thought that to be odd as they always advertised all over social media. I asked why and did I do something wrong? LoL her bobblehead showed she read, but NEVER RESPONDED. This morning I went onto the portal to make a reservation for tomorrow. To my surprise, I wasn't able to. I called and left a message. Lourdes called and was not the friendly person I knew. I was told I'm no longer welcome as she does not condone how her staff was treated. I apologized for being upset, but did not yell at the staff. I reiterated a phone call would have been nice to give me the option to reschedule as the groomer had an emergency and was clearly running late. Then she said I can return, but the 10% discount I was getting for my dog being a emotional support animal was no longer available. Thank you, but I no longer felt comfortable using their services. I again had no problem with the staff other than a courtesy call should have been done. As always, Courtney took care of me and I give her 10 stars. This is the first time I have ever given a poor review, but Lourdes lacked professionalism in how she handled the matter. First, she ignored my message, then a week later I'm told my pup is no longer welcome. It was as if I was sentenced without even giving me the courtesy of my side. What upsets me most is my pup absolutely loved going and I never worried about her well being. I will find a new place and my baby will once again get acclimated to a new place and a new staff. Shame on you for treating your customers that way because of a single incident that could have been avoided with a simple phone call. read more

Lourdes and Chris are awesome. I have taken my dog foxy there a few times for day camp. Foxy gets so excited when we pull up in parking lot. I know she is in great hands and safe. I also love the fact they have cameras so you can watch your fur baby play.
