We've been to this place several times since my son started going to Virginia Tech. It's his favorite place to go when we visit. We love getting the pick three sushi for lunch and the steamed shumai are my absolute favorite. We live in Southern California and I would say the sushi here is really solid. The service is great as well and so are the prices! Definitely recommend for a quick lunch or a large dinner party. Works for everything.

Wanted to try this place out since it was close to my hotel. Helpers gave them nice ratings so it was a win for me. Took my fun nephew and his roommates out for dinner. Parking in front very convenient. Menu had some great options from hibachi, sushi to various Asian meals. I started with a small seaweed salad. Interesting concept adding iceberg lettuce as a foundation for this salad. Seaweed was fresh and I could have done without the iceberg. The tempura meal was hefty. Batter a bit thick but it was fresh fried. Lots of veggies and seafood. Came with either white or fried rice. Others in my group had sushi that looked delicious and well worth the prices. Service was great! We had an awesome server who was very accommodating. Lots of large tables and the ambiance was open and welcoming. Looks like they do lots of takeout too.

What Yellowtail sashimi SHOULD look like.

We went to the new location for sushi. They have "Ami Ebi" on the menu (same as the original location), so we ordered it. I woke up violently ill and have been very, very sick all day. The shrimp was not correct at all, large, white and chewy, not thin, glassy and melt in your mouth. Beware!!

SO tasty! The best sushi in Blacksburg. The food did not take long at all and the service was great.

Celebrated my friend's birthday here with a large group (8 people) on a relatively busy Saturday night around 7:30 PM ish. I'll start with the good - the mixed drinks were pretty good and affordable! After that, things start to get a like murky... For an appetizer, I shared crab rangoons. They didn't seem to have enough cream cheese in them... For dinner, I ordered three rolls - the Philadelphia roll, the unagi (eel) roll, and The Big Easy (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallions, wasabi, and flying fish roe). The unagi roll was the best. It was simple, no frills. The Big Easy was very bland. I couldn't tell the difference in any of the fish flavors, and the wasabi that was incorporated in the roll really overpowered everything. Lastly, the Philadelphia roll was abysmal. The smoked salmon was not fresh, at all. I feel like they used the smoked salmon that you would eat a lox bagel with... except it was very stale and rubbery. It was also extremely salty. Apart from dinner, the service was friendly, but very slow. Usually, I don't mind being patient and waiting, but we waited over an hour to have just the appetizers come around. I tried some of my friend's vegetable tempora, so that was good. I'm not from the area, but even if I were, I don't think I would come back. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I was pretty disappointed that night. I'm not a big sushi expert, but I felt like Kroger sushi would've sufficed.

OMG we are in heaven!! We have found a true Sushi restaurant that truly deserves some commentary! For context we ordered take out and ate in our truck since we were with our dogs We ordered a Lovers Boat & Jalapeño (Yellowtail) Hamachi appetizer, which also came with a salad and soup. We switched out the Green Dragon roll with the Big Easy Roll since we were not eel fans. Let me tell you, this was good! So much so we have rated it one of the top 10 Sushi restaurants we have ever been too. With that said, we have eaten in Tokyo at Sushi restaurants that are some of the best in the world! The cut of the sushi was thick and meaty, the Tuna was dark and the cut was smooth. The rolls were not think on the rice side so you could actually taste the fish! Plus the Nigiri (Sushi) wasn't a huge rice ball, but rather a nice cut of fish on a small pad of rice, it was almost like thin sashimi and well balanced. The Jalapeño (Yellowtail) Hamachi appetizer had a nice thick Yellowtail with knife marks across on a cucumber bed. This makes my mouth water writing this because it was the "Best" version of this appetizer I have ever had and we get it EVERYWHERE we go! The Hokie Roll was delicious! A wonderful texture and favors, and a roll that you can still tasted the meat, perfectly balanced! The Big Easy Roll was simple but very tasteful with a mixture of meats. My wife and I ate most of the entire boat without soy, and we are soy fans but it was just simply that good! As you can tell, I found my new favorite restaurant because they know how to treat thier patrons with excellent quality fish! I can't wait to experience it actually in the restaurant

The sushi here was not good. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly, but the sushi was honestly a big disappointment. For the sushi deluxe, you get 6 "chefs choice" nigiri along with 6 slice tuna roll with 4 pieces of California roll and if you want to sub the California roll for something else it incurs an extra charge. The quality of the sushi and flavor was just not there. The black dragon roll wasn't terrible but the tempura had a little bit too much batter and the eel did not have much flavor to it. The black dragon roll had to be drowned in wasabi with eel and soy sauce to get any kind of flavor. The spicy tuna roll was a scary color, and was very bland. The volcano roll was too saucy and not enough salmon. Overall the sushi here was very bland. The miso soup that was included with the sushi deluxe was good but the salad that came with it wasn't the best as I felt the dressing lacked as much of a ginger flavor as I am used to. Ambiance was definitely a college town sushi place vibe, the aux was kinda weird they played Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney along with Baby by Justin Bieber.... it was odd

Shrimp Yakisoba with jalepinos - I asked them to make it spicy with the peppers, and it was awesome!

Good Yakisoba place to me! The waitress there was ok-ish. Want to try their fried items the next time and update my review.

They have the smoke and the foam and the cool-looking, Instagram-worthy drinks. Don't get it twisted, though: Twisted Liquid ain't cheap! But you're paying for professional bartenders creating creative beverages. You want to come here to impress a date, not get buzzed on Michelob Ultras. I visited strictly for a drink, so I didn't check out their food menu. But apparently, they do serve food here, mostly starters, snacks and small plates, but also a few mains. My love for gin is never-ending, much like my love for Lewis Carroll and Alice in Wonderland, so when I saw a drink called Painting the Roses Red, you know that's the one that I got. It is a white tea-infused gin with elderflower liqueur, Pinot Gris, lemon juice and rose water. A little ice rose came floating in the drink. It was so pretty, and pretty potent! I like when my adult drinks actually have alcohol in them, and mine certainly did. Our bartender was lovely and knew how to make a lot of drinks with a little flair for each one. I came with a group, and we all sat at the bar and had a wonderful time.

First, the menu was extremely limited for both food and drinks. While the cocktails were enjoyable, the food quality and portions did not come close to justifying the $300+ we spent. We ordered the shrimp and wagyu skewers expecting thoughtfully prepared dishes. Instead, the shrimp appeared comparable to pre-made shrimp cocktail shrimp placed on a stick rather than freshly grilled seafood. The wagyu skewer lacked the quality and presentation expected from a fine dining establishment and honestly tasted more like beef stroganoff without noodles. I also ordered the lobster bisque, which was served lukewarm and tasted as though it came from a can. The Caesar salad with smoked trout was acceptable, but the trout resembled salmon more than smoked trout, and the dressing tasted bottled rather than house-made. What made the experience more frustrating was the lack of transparency regarding the menu prior to the event reservation. For a restaurant that strictly enforces reservations and cancellation fees, customers reasonably expect a much higher level of quality, preparation, and overall dining experience. Our server was kind, attentive, and did their best throughout the evening, so I truly appreciate their effort. However, much of the remaining staff appeared stressed, overwhelmed, and unwelcoming, which added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Overall, the experience felt far from the fine dining experience being advertised. The drinks were honestly the only standout part of the evening. I also have to mention that the food we received looked nothing like the photos posted online and in Google reviews. It genuinely made us wonder if there was an issue in the kitchen this evening, because the quality and execution were nowhere near what was being represented publicly. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken constructively because there is a significant disconnect between the pricing, expectations, and actual dining experience being delivered.

I was caught off guard when my friend walked up the stairs to the house because from initial appearance, I wouldn't have thought this was the restaurant! Upon walking in, the host greeted us and told us his name was Dan and that he was the owner of the restaurant! It was really cool to see that the owner is truly passionate about his restaurant and will show up to put in the work, even during the later hours. In terms of the food, I went with the Hungry Hokie which was a mashed potato bowl with with bits of meatloaf and chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese. It also came with a biscuit or cornbread, I opted in with the cornbread. The food was absolutely hearty and had pretty good flavor! The one wish that I had was that it came in a bigger portion as it didn't fully fill me up. If I was in town again, I'd definitely consider going back to try the other items on the menu!

Lost in space?) From the shiny chrome restaurant exterior that resembles a space ship, to the menu that has things on it like The Black Hole (a black bean burger) to the Creamy Spudnik Soup (potato cheddar soup, basically). It's all outer space, all the time, at Lost in Taste. I visited Lost in Taste with a group, and we all got a bunch of different things. One of the things that was first on my list to order was a cup of coffee. And even though I was visiting for a late lunch, they had coffee brewed and ready to go. Sweet! That perked me right up. My group got a few different appetizers for the table. We got the Canis Comets, which are huge hush puppies (think palm-sized) served with blackberry jam and round balls of soft, salted butter. They came three to an order, and they were delicious, and definitely enough to feed six people because we cut them in half. Another appetizer we ordered was the Big Bang Shrimp, which was breaded shrimp topped with a drizzle of signature sauce. These were delicious, too! The Big Bang Shrimp come eight to an order. One of the people in our group was a wing aficionado, so we also got the traditional, jumbo, bone-in wings, which are served with chips. There are nine different sauces to choose from, and we got the wings slathered in Jupiter's Storm, a mango habanero sauce. Very good! I don't typically like bone-in wings because I think they are a scam, but I appreciated the sweet and savory flavors of these wings. As for me, I got the Caesar salad (meh) and the B.L.I.T. sandwich: bacon, lettuce, interstellar tomato and mayo. It was very good and huge! If you like bacon, then this is the sandwich for you. Lost in Taste is space themed, but it also has an old-fashioned diner vibe. It's a fun restaurant to visit if you want diner food, and also be surrounded by space.

The space theme is clever -- from the play on words in the restaurant name to the decor and menu items (I have to give credit for "Bobba Fettucine Alfredo"). It was a fun touch, although the restaurant itself has more of a casual diner feel inside and out. I ordered the ribeye sandwich, and while what little ribeye there was tasted good, I definitely wished there had been more of it. We also tried the grilled squash and zucchini, which improved once we added our own seasoning. My sister ordered the potato soup, but unfortunately it was way too salty to enjoy. Overall, the staff was friendly and the concept was creative, but the food itself never quite launched into orbit. There are definitely some bright stars in the idea behind the restaurant, but the flavors didn't quite reach escape velocity for us. I'm glad we explored this little corner of the food galaxy, but based on this visit, it probably wouldn't be a repeat mission.
