"Chicken or steak & shrimp" should mean you get shrimp with either a choice of chicken or steak and the same thing but with SuperNova and the description saying special spices, I didn't taste any special spices but maybe they were there? The waitress mentioned that supernova included the shrimp with either the steak or chicken. I got the steak but not the shrimp. I didn't ask about the shrimp part afterward and was just annoyed at the entire ordering process. The root beer float R2B2 I couldn't taste any orange Fanta if it was added in. We stopped at Lost In Taste while traveling through the area on a Sunday night. We were greeted immediately and seated right away, which was a great start. The space theme is clever -- from the play on words in the restaurant name to the decor and menu items (I have to give credit for "Bobba Fettucine Alfredo"). It was a fun touch, although the restaurant itself has more of a casual diner feel inside and out. I ordered the ribeye sandwich, and while what little ribeye there was tasted good, I definitely wished there had been more of it. We also tried the grilled squash and zucchini, which improved once we added our own seasoning. My sister ordered the potato soup, but unfortunately it was way too salty to enjoy. Overall, the staff was friendly and the concept was creative, but the food itself never quite launched into orbit. There are definitely some bright stars in the idea behind the restaurant, but the flavors didn't quite reach escape velocity for us. I'm glad we explored this little corner of the food galaxy, but based on this visit, it probably wouldn't be a repeat mission. read more

I love a good theme. I especially love when a restaurant is creative enough to implement a theme and stick with it. The theme at Lost in Taste is space. (Get it? Lost in Taste? Lost in space?) From the shiny chrome restaurant exterior that resembles a space ship, to the menu that has things on it like The Black Hole (a black bean burger) to the Creamy Spudnik Soup (potato cheddar soup, basically). It's all outer space, all the time, at Lost in Taste. I visited Lost in Taste with a group, and we all got a bunch of different things. One of the things that was first on my list to order was a cup of coffee. And even though I was visiting for a late lunch, they had coffee brewed and ready to go. Sweet! That perked me right up. My group got a few different appetizers for the table. We got the Canis Comets, which are huge hush puppies (think palm-sized) served with blackberry jam and round balls of soft, salted butter. They came three to an order, and they were delicious, and definitely enough to feed six people because we cut them in half. Another appetizer we ordered was the Big Bang Shrimp, which was breaded shrimp topped with a drizzle of signature sauce. These were delicious, too! The Big Bang Shrimp come eight to an order. One of the people in our group was a wing aficionado, so we also got the traditional, jumbo, bone-in wings, which are served with chips. There are nine different sauces to choose from, and we got the wings slathered in Jupiter's Storm, a mango habanero sauce. Very good! I don't typically like bone-in wings because I think they are a scam, but I appreciated the sweet and savory flavors of these wings. As for me, I got the Caesar salad (meh) and the B.L.I.T. sandwich: bacon, lettuce, interstellar tomato and mayo. It was very good and huge! If you like bacon, then this is the sandwich for you. Lost in Taste is space themed, but it also has an old-fashioned diner vibe. It's a fun restaurant to visit if you want diner food, and also be surrounded by space. read more

Came here the morning of a game day and it surprisingly wasn't busy. We got sat almost immediately and our server was pretty nice. I really loved the space theme. The decor and the menu item names were all so entertaining. The food was so much better than I was expecting for a sports bar. My wrap was perfectly toasted and the ingredients tasted really fresh. As someone who grew up in the NRV area, I've always thought Christiansburg needed more local restaurants so I'm really happy lost in taste opened! I love the outside and the decorations on the inside. The space theme is really cool, and the name just makes it better. I got a grilled cheese with tater tots and was really impressed. The tater tots were so crispy and well salted, which is important! The grilled cheese had a few different cheeses and was delicious. Our service was fast - I will say the food took a little longer than expected to come out but that's not a big deal since it was delicious. I also tried an onion ring and it was also so crispy which I loved. There's a good variety on the menu & everyone I was with really enjoyed their food so I'll definitely be back! read more

When looking for one of a kind places to eat in Christiansburg, Virginia, this one in particular stood out. So a friend and I one day decided to go and try it out. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Lost In Taste Sports Bar in Christiansburg, Virginia, is the perfect example. What was once a Denny's was completely transformed into an architectural design that is futuristic yet at the same time resembles the American icon Diner of the past brought into the future. And with so many very creative items on the menu, it is understandable how one can be "Lost In Taste," like its name implies. You definitely need to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a sense of the decor of the place and view some of the items of the menu as they look in reality. The first thing I would like to mention is the friendly and warm servers the place has. Ours gave us a warm welcome and with a friendly smile, immediately made us feel at home in what was supposed to be a land far, far away. It's amazing how she guided us through the items in the menu that we were interested in, and asking if we wanted to add bacon to a burger that didn't have it or make our curly fries loaded, custom tailoring our menu selections to our own taste. For example I ordered the Briezo Bebop, a burger patty made with chorizo and beef (to give it that extra flavor), with brie cheese, bacon jam, and served on an artisan bun. I picked this burger because it reminded me of the "Frita Cubana," a type of Cuban hamburger, characterized by a seasoned ground beef and pork patty (with chorizo). My server asked me if besides the bacon jam that came with it, I would also like to include slices of bacon. Needless to say an extra charge was added, but I really didn't mind because it was tailored to my taste and made the dining experience more personal and pleasant. I ordered curly fries, and at the suggestion of the server made them loaded. My friend had a Crash Burger and asked mushrooms to be added extra. I believe one of the factors in the success of this restaurant is their openmindiness to requests that other restaurants would just deny. To drink, I had a Cherry Coke, that you rarely find in a restaurant. It is said that: "The proof is in the pudding." When they brought out our food it looked amazing and the taste was "Out of this World." I was able to experience first hand why the locals love this place and it's the first restaurant they recommended to the tourists. I highly recommend this place as well. It is a culinary gem of this community. And I am already looking forward to returning. read more

I love diners and each trip we make up to my son's college we try a new one on the way, this did not disappoint! Classic diner feel walking up but once you get inside it has a space theme which is pretty cool. Lots of seating and our waiter was very friendly and fast. Chicken sandwich was massive and my burger was perfect and NOT one of those garbage frozen patties, this was hand formed and cooked perfectly. This place is clearly a local favorite. Packed with locals watching the VA Tech game. The manager came around during our dining experience and checked on us. Always a good sign. My son got the Ribeye Sandwich. My wife and I split the "Space Club" which the staff brought out in separate trays, which I thought was nice. Service was great and food was quick to come out! Went out to watch the Bills/Ravens game and to get some food/drinks. We got the boneless wings with half buffalo/half garlic parmesan and the spring rolls to start off with. The bartender was helpful in making suggestions for both drinks and food too. There's a couple games inside like golf, bowling, and pong to entertain as well. I got the crash burger and my friends got the potato soup and sweet potato waffle fries. Burger was perfect and juice with a side of curly fries, and friends said their food was good too. Only downside was that it was a bit cold in there and the light for our table was flashing so it was unscrewed. The cold was a bit uncomfortable and I wish I brought a sweatshirt/light jacket too instead of just a t-shirt and a winter coat. I was expecting a real dive. From the outside, it screams old silver diner that hasn't been updated. But it's very cool inside. They take their space theme seriously. It's still a traditional diner feel, but it's kicked up several notches to become an experience. There are arcade games to play. There is a full bar with specials. The menu has a space theme. And the food was hot and tasty. Nothing extravagant..just tasty food. The staff is extremely sweet and accommodating. Bathrooms were a bit shabby, but not the worst. I'm glad I found "Lost In Taste." I travel I 81 annually and one of the biggest challenges I have is finding a restaurant with good old fashion fresh food. Tonight I had their potato soup & a smash burger - everything was very tasty. To top it off, the proprietor / chef came to my table to ask if everything was AOK. On top of that, once I finished my meal, chef asked me if I would like a complimentary slice of sweet potato pie. How 'bout that !!!! A turkey club can be made with either roast turkey or deli turkey, and each has its pros and cons. Unfortunately, these guys went with a third option a thoroughly waterlogged turkey roll of some kind that tasted like a wet sponge. I sometimes wonder whether people who run places like this ever taste their own food. There is no way that you could think this was a good sandwich if you'd ever had any other turkey sandwiches in your life. The tomatoes on the sandwich were also mushy. When I went to use the men's room, I found it to be, to put it charitably, unpleasantly aromatic. And not because somebody else had just used it. Again, I don't see how you can run a small restaurant like this and not occasionally venture into the bathrooms to check their status. While lots of bar food available, her recommendations of the Caesar Salad w/grilled chicken for me, and the BL(I)T was spot on for my picky-eater wife. Business picked up quickly after we arrived, but Miranda kept up with all the orders with a consistent smile on her face. On the road again Let me start by putting all of you locals and travelers in Christiansburg VA area who may think...I'd never eat at a restaurant in a hotel district. Coming from this hotel manager I may have agreed with most of you but let me enlighten you to the breath of fresh air right in your back yard (locals) and a short drive for travelers. Then the magic happened and his name was Chuck the bartender! By far the most welcoming and engaging person I can remember in a very long time who truly loves his job, his customers, and was proud of where he worked! He patiently explained the incredible happy hour drink pricing (although if I read the menu they were listed there!), and to be honest even without happy hour the drink pricing was so affordable! Chuck continued to keep us supplied with our favorite beverages and even heard my glass clink across the room when the ice told him I needed a refill. Now this is service! We ordered as he recommended the tater tots with cheese, bacon and house spices with a bbq & ranch dipping sauce. Your school cafeteria never served these delicious nuggets! Later for dinner I ordered the Briezo burger which was a juicy blend of chorizo and beef served with brie, and a sweet bacon jam on a brioche bun. Incredible, unique and delicious. The sweet potato waffle fries were fluffy and hard to stop eating! My husband had a ribeye sandwich with provolone, mushrooms & lettuce. Tender meat and let's say a clean plate!
