The sushi was delicious. That is the only positive thing I can say. We waited 1.5 hrs for 3 fairly simple sushi rolls. My husband ordered a sapporo, and never got it. This used to be an independent restaurant, but it is in a shared space with another called Bones and Shells and you can order off of both menus. We were the only ones eating sushi. When we arrived the restaurant was fairly empty, The tables filled and emptied in the time it took to get our 3 sushi rolls (spicy tuna, shrimp tempura roll and spicy rainbow roll). The shumai were awful, just a whole shrimp wrapped in a wonton wrapper. The waitress gave us our food and said, sorry there are a lot of to go sushi orders and they are filled first. We were not informed of this in that whole time. Pretty bad service overall. We were never asked if we wanted desert and the check was just put on our table which we were eating our food. for the first time I am honestly disappointed and pretty frustrated with ocean San. spent all morning hyping up the family for sushi at our favorite place to go only to get there order all our drinks and then be told they no longer sell sushi at the sushi restaurant until 4pm. why have the sushi bar open with zero signs saying they don't serve sushi, nothing on their pages or website about not serving sushi. whole family was extremely disappointed that this was the case. All right, stay with me on this one. I'll start with parking; there is plenty of it, since it's nestled away in a small shopping center. The restaurant is to the far right of the complex. When you arrive, you'll find a door to the right and one to the left. The right door leads to a clean bar with plenty of drinks; you can go back and check it out. If you head to the door to the left and stick to the left, you enter a small tavern! Now, there are two menus. The tavern's menu food looked amazing, but we're here to talk about the sushi. When you look at the prices, you'll think this is Expensive. I thought the same thing. They have two prices: one normal-sized roll and one they call a king roll. Now, when you think about a normal-sized roll, you're thinking of small, round restaurants with 6 to 8 pieces. Now granted, this sushi is also 6 to 8. However, this sushi is massive. I would be afraid to order a king roll to see how big it is, and let me tell you, if you want to taste heaven on earth, you need to go to this sushi spot. I've eaten a lot of sushi, but this sushi right here brought tears to my eyes. As a foodie, when tears come to your eyes! You must share it! It was that good, so good. I got four rolls, which came out to $68, which was reasonable because the pieces are humongous. As for the seating, I went on a Sunday, and there was plenty of seating. The Sushi is phenomenal, I go with the Spicy Rainbow Roll per usual. The prices are a bit high but we'll worth the money, and the shop is a bit small. We had a very good experience here at Ocean San Sushi and, once again, Yelp steers us in the right direction. This is definitely a gem for the York area and my co-pilot and I wont waste our time anywhere else. An extensive menu, but that doesn't mean they don't get it right. They do. The do quite a lot of "non-raw" rolls, meaning you have the option of a cooked and served cold roll or a cooked roll that's served warm. The owner told us that's for all the sushi novices out there who are scared of raw fish. Well, we did a bot of both. There are also plenty of soups and rice dishes, so if you're not a sushi hound, there is something for you. We enjoyed the "Miso +" options, so we ordered one with fresh mushrooms-excellent: a portion larger than your average mini-bowl of miso. Co-pilot tried two of the sushi poppers (one crab, one shrimp) for kicks and both were done excellently. For mains she knocked out a Sugar Mamma Roll and I housed the udon noodles with shrimp--the noodles and shrimp wrappers were light, tasty, and amazing. We shall return! read more

Tried out this place for the first time tonight and it was excellent. Good thing to know is the portions are huge! I had a giant bowl of miso soup with mushrooms, shared a plate of seaweed salad, had super fresh and delicious salmon nigiri and Lisa's Ocean Salmon which was baked with lump crab and dynamite sauce. We absolutely love sushi and freshness is super important. Although Ocean San Sushi has the ambience of a quaint experience and all seemed fresh, we were dismayed at the high surcharge per item. We ordered shrimp/crab poppers, gyoza and then sushi. I do understand that product may be hard to obtain but a $2-$5 charge per item does not seem reasonable. Our 8 piece order (small pieces not the jumbo) was $23 and frankly lacked flavor. Even the wasabi seemed to lack flavor as we added and added, there was no color change to lighter and no heat. We are not cheap diners and never mind paying for good food and a good experience but will most likely not be back soon when York has other great sushi options for freshness, quality and taste. read more

The sushi is good based on our first visit. Went in for lunch on a cold day and decided to try to soup. This was an expensive option but we figure it would be worth it... it wasn't. The dumpling soup was a bland broth. The seafood soup smelled like fish and the noodles were a ball in the bottom and firmly stuck together. After our lunch we both were briefly ill as well. It was the most disrespectful encounter and I've had in a restaurant especially with the owner. All he had to do was take the sushi off the check or remake it to the quality expected. Did not expect to be cursed at and yelled at by a restaurant owner. The sushi came out... 2 were absolutely flavorless (1 was supposed to have mango in it i couldn't find the mango or taste it) , 1 had a whole can of canned crab on it. It was not fresh.. it was most definitely from a can. We hurried up and ate what we could and got out of these place so fast never to return. I asked my boyfriend what the bill was and he said the bill to eat would have paid for us to eat sushi at Masa 2 times. I so wanted to love this place. When my wife and I arrived, we weren't sure if we had used the right entrance as there was no hostess, or even a sign to say if we should take our own seats or wait to be seated. A waitress walked by and said "You can sit wherever you want" in about as friendly a tone as that could be said, I guess. We sat down and waited for what felt like four or five minutes before anyone approached us. Mind you, the place was only half full and there were four teenage/young women behind the counter in addition to the one older gentlemen who was preparing sushi (made me wonder why the phone wasn't picked up, but I digress). Our waitress came by and asked "would you like something to drink?". No 'hello', no 'welcome', no 'have you been here before?'. We ordered two cups of tea... Which came with the tea bags in them. I saw her make the tea with a cappuccino/keurig/nespresso like machine. I've eaten a lot of sushi in a variety of states and countries and when the tea comes prepared like it's for a Briton, that's usually a bad sign. The waitress came back and asked "what do you want to eat?" I told her we needed a few more minutes, put cash on the table for the tea and when she came back, told her we changed our minds. The clincher is that she didn't bother to ask why. She just said "okay" and walked away. We went to Oyako Sushi on the other side of town, which was excellent. read more

I would suggest double checking what you are ordering first. I ordered two rolls and apparently these were rolls that the chef likes to roll short so you get 4 large pieces instead of the standard 8 (these were standard rolls, not the king size). This leaves you with a very large piece of sushi that is difficult to eat. No way to get it in one go like your standard roll piece so you have to bite it which if course causes it to fall apart. My daughter ordered lucky and received 'standard' rolls that she enjoyed. This was actually our second visit. We first visited a few months ago on a night were it turns out that the main chef was away for a wedding. It took a very long time to get our orders but it wasn't much of an issue for us since the owner made a point of visiting tables to explain the situation. The sushi that night was fine, but you could tell the backup chef was still learning. We'll most likely visit again. Maybe the third time will be the charm. read more

This place is nestled in the corner of a small shopping center. Though it is small it has a very nice inside. Now I'm not a sushi connoisseur but I do eat sushi at least three times a week. The shumai were LARGE I mean at least double the size of the ones sold in a majority of restaurants. Flavor wasn't bad though the wrapping was a little doughy. The shrimp tempura rolls were normal size but the tempura was soft with no crispness and the eel sauce they used was very thin causing it to saturate the rice and leave a small puddle at the bottom of the plate. Dynamite Rolls weren't bad taste wise but the fish was over cooked making it tough. I'm not saying don't come here but if you are a tad bit of a sushi snob this is not the place for you. read more

Amazing sushi! Staff was friendly and it was a very relaxing atmosphere. Had two tvs, one with the ocean another with the wilderness. Never urging looks fresh and the waitress was more than happy to answer any questions. You do have to wait a little bit extra as far as time until the food is ready but it was the wait.
