Mrs. Billy D needed to check this place out. It features soaps and lotions and potions hence the business name. There is also clothing, shoes, Minnetonka products, and some jewelry type stuff. Most of the clothing is on the upper level. It has a boutique-y feel to it. We were greeted by William. I could tell he's pretty proud of the store. We let him give us the run down of what they have and he was always near in case there was a question. There was a deal to buy three bars of soap and get to choose a free bar from a selection at the counter. Each bar was hand made and was between $12-14 each. Once again bear in mind this is a tourism heavy beach town plus NOTHING anywhere is cheap anymore. We did the soap deal plus a couple other things and got out of there. I read the reviews about being followed when you shop at this store but went in anyway to check it out. I will say the products are beautiful and they have some high end clothes that are stunning but wow the experience is so awkward. It was nice to get an explanation when you initially arrive and get a rundown of the products. I wanted to look around in peace and this woman followed me the entire time. I went upstairs to check out the clothes and poof! She was there! I was interested in some of the clothing items but her behavior turned me off so I just left. I would really enjoy browsing in this store more. Lots of pretty things and their soaps are wonderful. However, I'm pretty sure their employees get commissions on sales. They follow you around and suggest things even when you tell them you aren't interested. They want you to try clothes on even when you tell them you don't like it or can't afford it. They hover throughout the store, it's really uncomfortable. I like to shop in peace and quiet, it's my happy time. I have friends to socialize with. I had to finally just leave last time I was there looking for some gifts because I couldn't take the constant interruptions and input. I hope the owner reads this and can speak to the employees. *Note, they are PRICEY too. Not everyone, especially us retired residents can afford $400 sweaters. I really enjoy coming to this shop on our yearly trip to ocean shores. The soaps smell so amazing. A little pricey but worth it in my opinion. I will say its not the most comfortable place to shop from my past experience. I dont know if they're trying to be overly attentive or if its being on the lookout for shop lifting but it made me feel rushed verses taking my time to really smell everything. If they could maybe relax on that a bit I would definitely feel more welcomed and comfortable. We have our trip next month and I'm looking forward to stopping for some soaps to take home. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE! Especially if you're a Person of Color. Though, it sounds like they profile everyone, so who knows. I went here with my family a week ago. We stopped by on a day out shopping. I am Black, my husband is White, and we had our preschool-aged son. We dressed casual, but well. We drive a nice car. Nothing screaming "watch out!" Our visit started out friendly enough. We were greeted by several staff, and one guy told us to check out the upstairs as that's where the kids clothing was located, including a dinosaur shirt that glowed in the dark. Awesome. We decide to find that first. It's a nice store. Lots of light. Easy to move around. We find the shirt, another one for the kiddo, and one for me (ladies clothing is also upstairs). All of sudden, one of the women who works there appears to see how we are doing. Now, there are several other women up in the loft and she came directly to us. We said we were fine, but she still stuck next to us under the pretext of striking up friendly conversation. We start heading back downstairs, and she follows us. That's right, she doesn't check in on any of the other customers that were upstairs at all. As soon as we get to the bottom of the stairs, she immediately reaches for the shirts I have in my hand and "offers to hold them while we shop". Uh huh. We should have walked out, but kiddo liked the dino shirt, so we look around a bit, pay (the cashier who rung us up was very friendly), and left. If they are going to assume that I am going to steal based on what I look like, then I am going to assume they are racist and will tell everyone I know to not shop there. read more

These are my favorite The room sprays, and sugar scrubs are great too. Every time we are in town we stop in. The soaps are made with quality ingredients. The scents and textures are great. The only downfall is the $12-14 a bar. My marketing suggestion to your business, if you price your bars at $10 people will be inclined to buy more. Even in Bellevue/Kirkland at Lush the pricing is better. You'll get more locals to shop there with better pricing. read more

Terribly expensive and altho we did spend a good chunk of money we got treated very badly over a pair of shes that ended up rubbing my toe. I had only worn them not even a half hour and Brendon said to being them back if they didn't work out for a refund. We did but were refused a refund. They were only a 50.00 pair of leather mocassins abdx we spent over 500.00 so thought we would be treated better. But no...refused refund, a store credit was offered but we dont go there often so we asked for a refund. It say on the receipt that refunds are given on approval by management. So why not just refund us? Cashier said she didnt know how. WTH??? WONT BE GOING THERE AGAIN. read more

LOVE this place! It's absolutely adorable. I stop in every time I visit town. I've purchased 6 soap bars and bath bombs - they never disappoint. My two favorites are lavender buds and rosemary. I have been traveling to this place to buy soaps and body rubs for about 4 or 5 years now and they are way over priced and no deals. Your paying 12 or 14 dollars for one bar of soap. That is CRAZY! and the chunks of soap are really small for 12 and 14 dollars. if they want customers or keep long time customers you should really rethink the prices on some items in the store. Or no one will buy items. I love your store but, I really think somethings need to change. read more

It takes a fair amount for me to give such a crappy rating. I will say that I love the soap, it smells amazing but what makes me upset is the staff's need to watch your every single move. No joke. I have plenty of cash and have no reason to even have any suspect me of stealing anything. This is my 2nd time here. The 1st time was a couple of years back. Same thing took place. The employee said nothing to me, just followed me around the entire time. This time I was in with 2 friends. I came back trying to give them another chance. Not only did they follow and watch our every single move, they whispered to each other about everything we were doing. Yes, I can hear you. I should have at that point, just set my purchases down and walked out. I instead spent almost $70 here. At one point, they even asked to hold my friends sweater behind the counter...that she owned already. It was not purchased in your establishment. She is pregnant and got warm and took it off. I wonder if you would have done that to anyone else in the store? The gal also got very pissed when my friend had changed her mind and only wanted to purchase 2 of the 3 soaps she had picked out...that they held behind the counter. She shot back with "Well I already wrapped them but that is fine I guess." You didn't wrap them just for her. I watched the cashier grab my already wrapped soap out of the drawer I will never step foot in here again. Word to the owner: Stop "profiling" people. It is one thing to be helpful and another to make people feel very uncomfortable. read more

I came to Ocean Shores and was looking to pamper myself a bit. I was super pleased to find this new store. A lot of stuff in this town is solidly living in 80's territory, stained carpeting and all. It was refreshing to see a modern store that put a lot of care into its design. The layout is very open and I couldn't believe how many handmade soaps they make. I'm not a huge fan of bar soap, which is a good thing, because otherwise I would have spent way too much money here. The person working was very welcoming and took some time to give me a tour of the shop and made a few suggestions, then gave me some space to explore. The upstairs area is clothing and accessories. Didn't look too long at those, as I wear plus size and assumed things wouldn't fit. I was drawn to the selection of bath bombs, and came away with three: black tea and honey, lavender vanilla, and champagne. I got back to my hotel and tried out the black tea and honey. It was amazing. It smelled so good (and I still smell very good even after showering) and was very moisturizing. I may even go back to stock up a bit more before leaving town. My friend who came with me is normally really reserved and honestly pretty cheap, and he also left the store with a bath bomb and room spray. That speaks to the quality, believe me. I'll be glad to check back in to this shop as I come to town for trips! read more

Gerry gave my daughter and I the service of a lifetime. We walked in and she gave us a tour. Explained the products and the owners' desire for sustainable products made locally. She applied a wonderful butter lotion to my hands and they still feel soft and not greasy. Upstairs they have a collection of dumpster diver attire made from plastic bottles. I bought a T-shirt "United we sand" and it's so soft and comfortable. I purchased a beautiful ensemble for a special night out. My daughter loved the store and purchased hair products and a dumpster diver T-Shirt. The experience made me realize once again the value of "feeling valued". I'll be back. I have 3 daughters! I called up complaining about the soap I bought not being the soap I picked out. I picked out nice examples put on display but there was hairs on my product. I called up an associate just to be told it was only dog hairs from the owners "pooch" getting on them during transport and I "jokingly" should not be upset as the dog didn't try eating or setting on my product. Let's just say I was very disappointed and made reports then to my local county for health violations. Some people like my spouse have severe pet allergies and we threw out over $50.49 worth of product including tax. read more

I love their spa butter. My favorite fragrance is Dragon's blood. Weird name for a lovely blood orange and other citrus fragrance. It makes my skin feel amazing and the scent is not overwhelming but lasts a long time. It is spendy though and that is the only reason it isn't a five star review. read more

I'm a big fan of natural soaps. I won't use anything else. This place makes their own soaps, candles and body creams. Ok, they are all pretty pricey. $11 or $12 for a bar of soap about the size of what you would pay less than $1 for at Wal-Mart. But, if you are going to buy a souvenir from Ocean Shores, at least buying something here will have benefits (cleanliness or nice skin) as opposed to a "thingie" that will just take up space and collect dust. Gotta be careful though. I picked up one of their products in a small jar thinking it was a candle, opened the lid, found out it was a body cream. Well, their sign (which I did not see until AFTER I opened the thing....) said "Please do not open, if you open, you buy it, and we have testers if you want to try something." Oops. They were nice about it, and I bought the product. Didn't need it, but....... So, don't open anything, ask for a tester! They have an amazing bunch of different kinds of soaps. If you have issues with "Fragrance," ask them which soaps don't have "fragrance." They will tell you. I say buying something here as a souvenir beats buying a "souvenir" of anything else! There isn't a good place to park an RV here. Best I can say is to park the RV up near the grocery store and hardware store near the roundabout, and walk down. It's within walking distance. Little secret. The location of their building is where the free RV dump station (and oil recycle place) run by the city USED to be...... The city closed the dump station down. She believes in the products sold at Soap Works and her knowledge of each product is amazing. The best customer service I have received in a long time. Thank you Gerry! Was curious so I stopped in while walking by. Immediately confronted and asked I'd I've been there before. In all honesty, no because they are associated with Laurie-Christian RE, whom I've boycotted. The daily promo was buy 2 soaps and get a preselected gift for free. We walked around and were flabbergasted by the outrageous prices. Ocean Shores is a tourist town that survives from summer sales. This storemade sure of that! Very high prices! Clearance items were only discounted by 10 percent so you're still paying more than other stores that sell those items at regular price. Couldn't find the men's lounge the saleswomen told us about. Overheard a customer conversation regarding the soap, she and her friend were trying to decide what to put back and the saleswoman swooped in and offered two free (preselected) items if they purchase 1 more bar of soap...customer responded in a snarky tone: I'm already at $128... We left without purchasing and won't be returning. read more

I have been wanting to check out their soaps for some time now and was excited to use them. I went in and purchased 3 soaps and received a free one for buying three. They are $12 each. very expensive. I took a bath that night useing the soap, first i washed my hands, i left some weird residue on my hands. I thought that was kind of odd. I than washed my hair with it and was disgusted by the feel of it. Like wax mixed with oil. Also left a nasty residue in my tub. The next day i tried to return the soap, three of which had not been opened at all. The manager would not take them back. NO REFUNDS! All sales are final, not even store credit. Needless to say i will let as many people know this as i can. I left the one soap i had tried out there so they may also see how shit it is. The other three i will give as gifts to people i don't like. Jk i wouldn't give them to my worst enemy. read more

I have been buying and using this soap for several years now and I love it!! I ha e also given as gifts to both women and men. Even gave some bubble gum soap to my young nieces. You can pick anything up product and smell them and try samples of the lotions and body butters. The prices are great in my opinion. My only complaint is that you cannot order all products online. My very favorite soap has never been available on their website. However, I highly recommend Ocean Shores Soapworks if you are looking for wonderful personal products for yourself or as a gift. Ocean Shores Soapworks has nice soaps and very bad customer service. Upon entering the store, I grabbed a basket and immediately an older, blonde employee walks over to me while commenting that it looks like I've been in the store before. Not sure if it is unusual for customers to use the provided baskets, but it was an odd thing to (loudly) point out. My husband and I did a quick look around one side of the store and I went to look at the clothes upstairs while he remained downstairs waiting for me. At this point, I hadn't even been in the store for 2 minutes and the blonde woman follows me up the stairs. I was the only person up there, so it was very clear she thought I was up to something. Next, she is telling me I need to give her my basket and she puts it on the counter far away from where I was shopping. I was confused about the reasoning behind this, but handed over the basket. Next, she goes down the stairs and I'm watching her whisper to another employee at the bottom of the stairs and they are both looking at me. Now that employee is coming up to ask me if I need help, when I'd just told the blonde lady (that was still looking up the stairs at me!) that I didn't. The whole thing is incredibly strange as the store design is open to the point of where they could see me from downstairs. After a quick look (I was feeling too creeped out to invest in any clothing from there), I returned downstairs and grabbed a few of the soaps that I have purchased in past. I inquired about a scent I was looking to repurchase and the blonde lady is telling me it doesn't exist and starts trying to sell me on other soaps. Of course, went to the car and there it is, listed on their website! Was going to go back in, but my husband told me how he was also watching them whispering about me as I shopped and that was enough to make me never return. There were other customers shopping and none of them were being followed in the way that I was. Not sure if this is a discrimination/classism issue, but it shouldn't be ignored. read more

I went here on my way home excited to see the new store. The stuff is pricey but they had a few nice things. I am updating my review because the owner reached out to me after a not so great first visit. Who says you can't change a first impression? The fact that she took the time to write me gave me a lot of hope for this store. The store has a lot of nice smelling soaps, lotions, scrubs, and some nice beachy things. The downer is that they don't have samples out so you will have to ask repeatedly for a sample if you want to smell something in a jar. I get that the owner doesn't want the jars opened so people don't stick their fingers in them and ruin the product but the signage needs to be a lot more clear. The small sticker placed on the side of the jar wasn't visible to me or strong enough to give me a clue that jar was indeed "sealed." After I had opened a jar to smell what I thought was a candle, the sales associate pointed out a sign to me saying if you open a jar you buy it. Unfortunately the sign was written in such a way (cutesy) that it doesn't look like a warning and it was not in my direct line of view. I would suggest that the employees come up with something to tell customers as they enter the store to avoid this in the future. Most customers will want to open and smell things just as I had. They need to figure out a way to have testers/samples out for customers to smell if they don't want the jars opened. As a customer I don't want to ask for sample of 10 different products just for a smell. Worth checking out if you like bath and body products or beachy things. I've been wanting to stop by this place for a while and finally made it in today. First off, I love how this shop is organized. There are several different categories of homemade soap, including "spa" soaps, seasonal soaps (try the Pumpkin Spice soap, it's amazing!), sweet soaps, etc. I ended up getting the Hawaiian Sunrise body butter, which is super creamy and it smells amazing! Definitely stop by while you're in town and pick up a few bars. I'll be back next time I'm here! read more
