It was not overwhelming and well organized. Kids books and local books are plentiful. The atmosphere was so cool with knotty pine throughout and awesome wood floors. Just a special place.

I ease-dropped in on the shop owner chatting with a woman who works at another clothing shop in town and was reminded of how sweet and simple human interaction can be. I felt almost as if I were an extra in a Hallmark film (in a good way, I swear). While the clothes are wonderfully selected and displayed, it was the decor that really blew me away. Browsing The House of Findings is truly an experience as the owner has put such care and attention into selecting the pieces that adorn the shop. From the egg-carton sculpture hanging from the ceiling to the collection of globes overhead as you enter to the ceramic figures scattered throughout, vintage clothing shopping has never felt more fun! If this place were to make it onto tiktok or instagram and start collaborating with local social media influencers then I'm sure they would blow up! I purchased a book and unfortunately either in the store or during the stroll it was misplaced. I retraced my steps and couldn't find it. It was a special gift. I went back to the store to see if someone had turned it in. I explained the situation to a gentleman who I believe is the owner. He graciously offered to replace the book at no cost to me. And in this bright green, columned shop near Chatham Lighthouse, is the spot to load up on all the crops the farm has to offer. Bibb lettuce to root vegetables, begonias to string beans - whatever's popping up from the well-tilled earth is being sold from these shelves. Oddly, there's also a toy corner, trinkets and baubles for touristy purchases (my shirt has a lighthouse on it!) and a side room serving as a local art gallery. Peculiar? A bit. Unique? Perhaps. Contributive towards the homey vibe? Definitely.* Just like the farm, the retail location is staffed by folks with special needs (mainly students from nearby Chatham High). Unlike the farm, this piece is air conditioned. I found a few great dresses and purchased them and was helped also by the owner Ashley when trying to find the right size. Not only that, but they were so nice and accommodating and in no way were pushy when we were trying on dozens and dozens of different pieces. The entire experience was incredibly safe + masks were worn the whole time - in these uncertain times, it was so reassuring to be surrounded by kind and helpful people who just wanted us to feel and look our best.
