Great store. Stock varies at times. Good buys. They do their best to keep it neat, but they fight customers that look and toss items back. I found workers willing to help and courteous. I had to go to this particular store/town as they were the only ones to have my Antibacterial Hand Soap (no Glycerin - allergic). Wow, what a disaster inside!!! It is soooo tightly packed inside that only one carriage can go down an aisle at a time. It was very messy and difficult to find the soap, rubber bands & hair scrunchies I needed. Tried looking at Totes for storage but didn't really have anything. Customers & staff were rude. Then as I checked out with my 4 items, an employee had blocked me in the Checkout Lane with 3 carriages! A female staff member had to come move them so I could get out to leave the store (she was not happy at that other employee for doing this, she was yelling what an idiot he was and I agree!). Not a fan of Ocean State as it is, like Big Lots better if I had to choose, but I'll never go back to the Southington branch again and would never recommend it to anyone either. read more

Ocean State Job Lot is my go to for lots of things but particularly my pool chemicals. In previous years I've played Russian roulette with them and got lucky. This year not so much. I walked in one day and the pool man of my life was there and he changed my life forever. Jeff is knowledgeable, funny and extremely patient. People, if you want to pay 2 or 3 times the amount you pay for pool chemicals at the local big box pool stores, that's your business, but as long as Jeff is at Southington Ocean State Job Lot, he's got my pool heart forever! read more

This store is much like other discount stores, so it's hit or miss with some things, which I don't mind at ALL. The saving can be very substantial and many of the goods are NAME BRAND. You just need a little patience. The staff is always polite and helpful. I have NO idea what the other reviewer was complaining about re: waiting. With the Covid pandemic ALL stores are going at a slower pace. To OS's credit, they were implementing safety protocols very early on and put their workers' and employees' health FIRST. They even gave discounts to essential workers! They are always raising monies for charity, too. Good people and as discount stores go, they are one of the better ones! read more

I shop in Job lot Soutington on the regular basis.They have amazing prices and the great selection of unique items especially organic spices are great and cheap . Store is very well stocked . I even purchase Lysol here . since the Covid hit I have not see Lysol for four months in the stores but here you go here I one. read more

The only way you should com to his store is if you want to waste an hour of your time waiting in line for the staff to move as slow as grass growing. There is never any urgency behind their intentions when they are trying to assist you. Some of the deals are okay, but go spend a few extra bucks to be treated with an ounce of respect elsewhere. read more

I love this store! I went in today for pool chemicals and they had exactly what I needed & more. I was surprised to see that they also carried pool salt, which saved me a trip to Home Depot. And...the prices are much better than elsewhere. The store manager, Jeff, is outstanding. He and his staff are extremely knowledgeable & helpful(carried 100 pounds of pool salt, soil & bird seed to the front of the store & loaded in my trunk curbside)! This is also my go-to store for baking supplies and dog treats. You can find all kinds of gourmet jellies, crackers and baking ingredients. I was looking for cocoa and happily they had organic, regular, vanilla and mint flavored. Oh, the choices! You would be amazed at what they have on their shelves. I also have to mention that they carry brand name swim suits. I couldn't pass up on a $15 name brand suit! This place is pretty darn good. They had some sweats that were half the price of Modells or Big 5. They had some quirky one of a kind items in the back ("found in the warehouse"). Generally, much better than most dollar stores out there. Word. read more
