I've been practicing yoga for 6 years (among many, many sports) and am usually around the top of the classes. Tatiana is clearly an exceptional teacher. She's always a good challenge, teaches with flow and harmony, and radiates a spirit of benevolence, which is the main reason I attend. Marianna is also a very good teacher. I had to remove a star because I recently attended a class from Jackie, which was very disappointing. The style was amateurish, confrontational, condescending, and erratic. It was classed as a level two, but it is only level one. It's a bad sign when you leave a yoga class more stressed than when you first came. An example of her poor teaching would be that she told the class to go from a 3-legged dog, moving knee to nose, while INHALING! Of course, it should be an exhale. Inhaling while bending over and compressing the diaphragm may damage the diaphragm and lungs. I felt bad for the people in the class because they were wide-eyed beginners, attending with good faith and being taught incorrectly. It would be nice if Ocean Yoga would correct this problem. Otherwise, I think the place is well worth attending. read more

I came here for the first time for a prenatal massage due to the great reviews from yelp. It didn't disappoint. I'm in my third trimester and my back is starting to get sore from the extra weight. I went to Ocean Yoga from out of town for a Vinyasa class. After the class as I was returning my props a man touched me inappropriately. It was shocking and unnerving. I spoke to the manager about it and she somehow knew exactly the person I was talking about even though it was after the fact. She was nice about it but did not ban the man from the yoga studio and warned me he would continue to be in future classes. How could this still be happening in this day and age, especially with a female manager? I will not go back. read more

It's been a year since I moved to Bay Area and I'm happy to announce I finally found my new yoga teacher - Nhi To at Ocean Yoga!! (yes, took me a year!!) I've been practicing for over 5 years, on my own and at multiple studios across the country. It's not about a fancy studio for me anymore, it's about the teacher! When I come to class it's important for me to get personalized teacher's instruction, get connected with the energy of the class and learn (or try) something new every time. Unlike most yoga teachers who provide a good (or not so good) yoga workout but do not TEACH, Nhi helps you get to next level in your practice whether you are a beginner or an advanced student. She pays attention to every single student, gives great adjustments, encourages you and helps you make progress in your practice every single class!! Her classes have tremendous energy which enables you to do things you could never do on your own. No wonder her students follow her from studio to studio and some of them have been practicing with her for years!! I like how Nhi chats with the students after class and makes every new student feel welcome! (Unlike most teachers who don't even know your name after a month of practice) I look forward to every class with Nhi and come out feeling great every single time! As a nice bonus, the studio is very spacious and beautiful! They have classes for every level and offer massage as well (haven't tried yet but definitely on my list). 90-Minute Prenatal Massage by Lisa. Heavenly. Steady moderate pressure, though she admittedly lost a bit of steam towards the end. 90 minutes is a long time, so I don't fault her. I LOVE RON! I had some seriously neck and shoulder pain that was causing a headache for me this weekend. My regular massage therapist was out of town for the weekend and i have to say that it's never easy finding a massage therapist to take you for a last minute appointment on a Saturday or Sunday, but Ron at Ocean Yoga made it happen for me... TWICE. I spent an hour calling places I found on Yelp, trying to find one to take me. Sadly someone else called me first, so I was laying on someone else's massage table when Ron at Ocean Yoga called me back, wanting me to come in. (mind you i've never been there for a massage before, so he had no idea who I was). An hour and 90 bucks later at this other place was temporary relief. I woke up the next morning in the same predicament, so I called Ocean Yoga again. They were closed for the day, but managed to call me back and accommodate my brief 2 hour window. They get 5 stars for that alone... actually 10 since i woulda got the same treatment the day before as well, had i not been so anxious to get a massage at some random spa the day before. The massage was awesome... Ron actually listened to my problem talked about what he was going to do to help me and talked me through what was happening to my body and why it was hurting. Oh, AND HE FIXED ME! I get neck pain regularly, migraines ALL the time, and massages tend to help, but rarely make me feel better. After this one I felt great. I have to say, this place makes up for a lack that I find with most massage therapists and businesses in general. First of all, i didn't get the feel good massage that I feel is a waste of money. I get massages out of need when I am in physical pain, so the last thing I want to do is drop 100 bucks on a massage that makes me feel nice for an hour but doesn't do anything to heal me. He listened and went above and beyond to make sure I got an appointment, when I needed it, not when he was available, and he made sure my problem was addressed, which is a whole lot more than I can say about pretty much everywhere else I have been. I would definitely return to Ocean Yoga for a massage. I've always attended their yoga classes, and while my experience with yoga is limited, I'm a huge fan of all their teachers, particularly Dana and Sue. It's a nice place to go for beginners and experiences yogis. read more

I joined the yoga studio this past Feb. My sister has been going for a couple of years and recommend I join since I had the time to take different classes. David, Jackie, Rebbecca and Winnie's classes are great and well they are great. I do think the studio could be a little more bigger, as the classes tend to get very packed. I also think they need more air circulating in the room. There is one fan in the front which where I tend to find a spot just so I feel more comfortable and am cooler. A fan in the back would be nice or maybe air condition in the room would be nice especially on warm days when the room tends to heat up by the natural sunlight and all those yogis. I would love to see a 7am or 7:30am yoga class one day. I hope that will happen soon. The staff is super friendly, they know all the members by name and are very welcoming to any new comer. read more

Nhi's class was terrible. She's super annoying and does not help beginners. She only only helps students she knows. The room smells bad. Nhi is very rude and kept saying to lock my knees. My back is injured so I can't do that. I told her and she sneered. For hot vinyasa the room is not hot. It's a little warmer them room temp. read more

Mark is one of those rare professionals. If you see him, you'll never be happy with another massage again. My vacations are forever ruined...just kidding, but really I wish Mark could fit in a suitcase. On another note...he's S-T-R-O-N-G. Watch out (in a good way) if you ask for heavy pressure. It's definitely a sports massage and Mark will stretch you out at the beginning as well if you wish. That combination for me - stretch and then massage has really helped my body recover from workouts and reset from work stress. Mark is not just a massage therapist, he is a healer - pain and energy. Many of his clients, he actually helps rehabilitate. He can do this because he's studied different techniques, knows anatomy inside and out and he's incredibly present. He cares about his clients - always asks me how my life is and remembers the details. I think it's nice to have a personal connection with those who help you. When I was in a car accident, I texted Mark and asked him if he could work on me the next day. Even though he was not working the next day (which I didn't realize), he made the trek to the gym to work on me. Who does that?! Immediately I felt blood flowing and pain relieved and when I woke up two days later, all my neck and back pain was gone. Mark is an all-star. He's smart, traveled, conversational and funny. I enjoy our catch-ups and will not miss my monthly massage. read more

The entire experience of this place is amazing. The instructors are amazing and the the massage I got from there was also amazing. I am fairly new to yoga and I have very tight muscles as in also out of shape. I love how the instructors help you if you aren't doing something right. But don't make it obvious to the entire class. Ocean Yoga is such a special place. THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN PACIFICA. We are truly blessed to have such an amazing studio with so many high caliber instructors here in Pacifica. Have attended so many yoga studios in the city and this one is now my go-to favorite not just because of the amazing teachers and variety of classes but because there is a wonderful intimate serene feel here. You don't feel like a sardine crammed in and the instructors take great pains to make sure everyone is receiving individualized instruction which is invaluable. In addition to the can't miss classes and workshops taught by yogi guru Wini Linguvic, I try to never miss an Ocean Stretch class taught by Ron which is a great start and ending to your week and helps you take your practice deeper. I travel often for work and Wini's Sunday class, paired with Ron's stretch class on Monday gets me back on track. Both are also great for all levels. Really enjoy Tatiana's flow classes and Jackie Rosenheim's Hatha flow though both should be for more advanced students. I truly appreciate how core strength is built into every class which is such a fundamental component for preventing injury and truly reaping all of the benfits of yoga. I highly recommend you give this Yoga studio a try! I began practicing yoga here almost a year ago and I have absolutely fallen in love. They offer student discounts which is awesome for a full-time student living on a budget. I have only taken Wini's classes because, quite frankly, she is utterly amazing! Wini is so calm and nurturing. She offers so many variations of the poses so that students of all different levels/experiences can push themselves past their individual limitations without any pressure, "competition," or judgements. Wini constantly reminds us all that the experienced yogi is one who knows what will work best for their body at that time. Wow! Can she get any more positive and awesome?! I haven't taken any classes with any of the other teachers because I have had such a wonderful experience with Wini that I am almost afraid to lose the good vibes that I get from learning yoga through her and her amazing positive energy. I give Wini 5 stars as a Yoga instructor. I give the studio 5 stars for offering a discount to students and for the convenient online registration, payments, and booking options. I also love that you are able to see your visit and purchase history online. The ladies at the front desk are super friendly and very helpful. Everything is very nice and clean. This place is amazing! It's a bit out of my way because I live in SF but its worth the drive. With all the studios in SF, many of which I have tried, without a doubt I'd rather and will continue to go to this one. As a learning student & beginner, I feel coached, helped, and guided rather than ignored, unsure, and not good enough. It has a great energy that can be felt the minute you step in; very positive, calm, and relaxing. The place is small, intimate, personal, and the classes I have taken so far - plus the staff/ teachers I have experienced- are awesome. It is not pretentious at all! Yoga: I'm a beginner yogi, and overweight. I enjoy all the instructors, however my favorites who teach beginning classes are Jackie, Rebecca, and David. I haven't taken all the classes for beginners but I hear all the instructors are excellent. If you are an intermediate/advanced yogi -- Tatiana and Wini are excellent I hear. Just make sure you sign up ahead of class on the website to assure a space in class. The classes normally don't get too full (they cap the class off after a certain amount of people so you're not downward dogging at someone's feet). Belly Dance: OMG! Sooooooo fun!!! Asia teaches beginning, intermediate, and also practices with her dance troupe on certain nights (Arabesque Troupe). Asia has been practicing as a professional belly dancer for over 30 years and is a GREAT teacher; she teaches in a way that you can understand, so you can learn how to perform the techniques correctly. She's super sweet, funny, and I feel like a superstar in her class. The people in the class are wonderful too. Belly dance also really works the brain! Sometimes we practice with zils which at first is a real challenge to dance and play the instrument at the same time, but with some practice you finally get it and then you're like OH YEAH, CHECK ME OUT. There are no performances you have to do, but once you've danced for awhile, she will offer you the chance to perform if you want to. We are learning a new routine starting next week. Massage: If I was to recommend someone I would say Lisa is your girl. She has a VERY limited schedule but let me tell you; I've had many massages from many therapists in my lifetime and she by far is the best. Her massage feels very nurturing and safe. It's extreeeemely relaxing. She is very thorough, her technique is flowy, and even. She uses hot stones without an extra fee. With the hot stones, it feels like she is working on you with 8 hands. The warmth of the stones, her hands, and the oil just make you feel like you're melting into the table. She can go really deep too, if you like that. I prefer a medium pressure myself. The downside is, I crave her massage about every two weeks but really cannot afford to religiously go to her. Hehe! Second place, I'd say go to Rebecca. read more

Dana is a great yoga teacher and has a heart of gold. I am always drawn back to yoga because of her skill and nurturance. Lisa is a strong and awesome hot stone therapist. For someone who is six foot and 225 pounds Lisa has no trouble stretching and rubbing out locks and kinks in the structure. I hate to be the one to bring up a bad review, but there are some serious flaws with this studio. FIrst, the owners do not follow the schedule especially when it comes to bringing in a substitute. I love to take tatiana's class on Sunday, [ vinyasa flow] but we have had substitutes three times for tatiana's class and not one stuck to the schedule and taught a vinyasa class. One class ended being meditation for 1.5 hours, another was a basic yoga class where the teacher just lectured us, and latest substitute taught gentle yoga. THat is all fine, if the owners would just adjust the schedule and let the clients know before hand. Second issue, I brought the situation up to one of the owners and she completely dismissed me and said "yeah that would be nice if we could let you guys know" I would say take tatiana's class, but I am going to find out what other studios she teaches and go there. read more

I moved to Pacifica 3 months ago, and found out about Ocean Yoga from my sister in law. I had never done yoga before, but have really wanted to get into it. I was very intimidated at first, and was afraid of looking stupid, not being able to do the poses, etc. My fears were all wiped away within 1 class! They take you at a pace you are comfortable with, and really personalize every pose. Here they believe that yoga should be enjoyable and relaxing, while it is strengthening and toning. They don't make you feel any pressure to do poses you aren't comfortable with, in fact they encourage you to work up to that. In my 2 months of coming here, I have learned a lot about yoga practice and have become stronger, more flexible, and SO much more relaxed.
