Don't apply here!!! This was, without question, the worst apartment leasing experience I have ever had. I'm leaving this review because of the complete lack of professionalism, the broken application process, and the almost nonexistent communication despite charging us approximately $400 in non-refundable application fees. From the very beginning, the leasing office was nearly impossible to reach. I called repeatedly, and almost nobody answered the phone. The only reason I was able to move the process forward was by driving to the leasing office multiple times because calling was essentially useless. The online application portal was also broken. I could not upload the requested documents. Instead of fixing the issue, I was instructed to email everything manually. Most email responses came from an automated AI system ("Lily"), not an actual person who could solve problems. To provide some context, we weren't looking for an apartment because we couldn't afford a home. We already OWN A HOME in Pacifica, and we are in the middle of a major renovation that includes adding approximately 1,000 square feet to the house. Because of the construction, we needed a temporary place to live nearby for about six to eight months. We explained this from the beginning. We also explained that my husband is currently investing in his startup, so we are temporarily living off our investment assets rather than employment income. We specifically asked whether asset documentation would satisfy their financial requirements, JUST THINK ABOUT, WE OWN A HOME IN PACIFICA IS NOT LESS THAN 1M DOLLARS AND WE ARE ADDING TO IT! THATS AN EXTRA 700,000 dollars! We do have ASSETS! They told us ..is ok... we paid the application fees and submitted everything requested. Then... silence. No one called to discuss the application. No one requested additional documentation. No one explained whether there was a problem. We repeatedly had to chase the leasing office for updates because they simply would not communicate. The only employee I was eventually able to reach by phone was Stephen. Instead of being helpful, he was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. There was never a single leasing agent who took ownership of our application. We dealt with Owin , then Stephen, then an AI chatbot, while nobody appeared responsible for providing accurate information or basic customer service. We went to ask in the office and OWIN was dismissive...he couldn't even own his mistakes. He is NEW BUT THAT MISTAKE IS HUGE! If he is in sales and he don't do a follow up, he is not the owner of his account, he don't pick up the phone, there is no response from him in the email. He is not the owner of the account ...THEY DONT HAVE CRMS, there is no triple touch in sales WHY ARE THEY ARE PAYING these PEOPLE! They are NOT doing this company ANY FAVOR Eventually, we were simply denied. Again, the denial itself is not the issue. The issue is paying hundreds of dollars for an application process that consisted of: * Phones that almost NEVER get answered. * A broken application portal. * AI email responses instead of actual customer service. * Conflicting instructions. * No meaningful communication. * No opportunity to address concerns before a denial. *force to go to the main office if want to communicate with them... they can't care less! If this is how prospective residents are treated before signing a lease, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to resolve an issue after becoming a tenant. I cannot recommend this property based on my experience. If you're considering applying, be prepared for poor communication, an unorganized leasing process, and expensive application fees with very little customer service in return. This property is poorly managed from start to finish. Management made misleading promises during leasing and became largely unresponsive once I moved in. I dealt with unresolved mold and rodent issues, and when I raised concerns about mold, my documented complaints were dismissed rather than properly investigated or resolved. Many advertised amenities were frequently broken or unavailable, which did not match what was presented during the leasing process. Communication throughout my tenancy was careless and inconsistent. The move-out process was the worst part. My final ledger included incorrect charges, including balances that had already been paid and disputed fees. Instead of correcting clear errors, management refused to take responsibility and pushed the issue to a third-party dispute. I should have recognized the red flag from the start. Their marketing emails literally contained placeholders like "(insert name)" and "(insert headline)." That lack of attention to detail showed up again and again throughout my experience. **Never received our deposit** We lived at Oceanaire for two years, during which time we took advantage of the amazing beachfront access. The maintenance staff were wonderful and considerate - completed jobs efficiently and always made a point to say hello and pet our dog when out on the property. The reason we moved was due to the ever-increasing prices. We were paying over $4k for our two bedroom (no patio view). Aside from maintenance and the beachfront location, the included amenities left much to be desired. After leaving, we received no communication from management regarding our apartment inspection or how much of our deposit we would receive back. After weeks, we called and were told that a check had been mailed to us. We informed them that our forwarding address had been changed prior to our move. We continued to contact management each month to no avail. We have still not received a response, and no check has come. The team is irresponsible and disorganized and we would never recommend anyone to live there unless they were willing to lose money. read more

The view is the only redeeming feature of this place. Everything else falls well below what the rent suggests. From the moment we moved in, it was clear we were handed a unit in poor condition and expected to accept it without question. That set the tone for the entire lease. Our refrigerator has taped seal, the oven lining is torn, and these issues were present at move-in -- a clear reflection of how little care goes into maintaining this property. Rent continues to increase while the quality and service continue to decline. Management is unresponsive, issues linger far too long, and pest problems are never fully addressed. Valet trash is unreliable, yet tenants are still charged and even nit-picked over minor technicalities. the maintenance technician Charles is the only professional, responsive, and does his job well. Unfortunately, one good employee can't make up for poor management. My second year here is almost over, and I'll finally be leaving. You come to Oceanaire because you want to live by the ocean and it does not disappoint. It is a quiet, safe, close community. At any given day you might see whales, porpoises, dolphins or amazing Birds flying in formation or diving into the ocean feeding. You can watch the big cargo ships making their way to SF or the many sailboats, surfers, and fishermen. And then there is the sunset that is different every night. I also chose Oceanaire for the amenities. The ocean front spa is my favorite but I also wanted Security, fitness center, garage, business center. Because I live in such a great place, I have more company. There is a beautifully decorated Clubhouse with kitchen and AMAZING ocean view and a nice outside deck for parties. I have also used the guest suite which has been great. If you love animals this is a dog community. The beach below us is a dog beach. It was important to me that the management was onsite. We have a seasoned Community Manager, Steven Deal. He made some great changes including forcing UPS to deliver our packages to our door instead of a mail room that made it hard to find your package. On nice days many people used our parking that were not residents. Steven initiated parking passes that only allow residents or their guests to park here. Made parking more convenient for residents . Steven revamped the process of reporting maintenance issues allowing issues to be quickly addressed We had a sauna years ago. Steven is in the process of replacing it with a brand new sauna . His door is always open and he goal is always to fix your problem The maintenance team is great and grounds well-maintained. Gilbert and Charles are the best Pacifica is a wonderful small beach town. Go north and you are in SF in minutes. Go south to Half Moon Bay to view some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I read more

We had a very poor experience living at Oceanaire. Great views, terrible management and maintenance. Anything needing a fix or upgrade will be done as cheaply as possible. We ignored the many reviews saying the same thing, and ended up regretting it. Be sure to inspect your unit for mold, rust and smoke stains before signing the lease. If you do find mold in your apartment, you will likely be told to wash it with soap and water! Don't expect to get a cent of your security deposit back. good luck! read more

Alright so the handymen are only so capable and I understand that. They are really good to my dog, Charlie. However the stench in our drain remains the same. That's not a led Zeppelin pun. Hope they can hire a plumber to fix it soon. Great view, but a really small space for $3K/month and I'm fairly certain we have a female ghost here. I can't prove it, but if she keeps scaring us I will investigate further. I really hope there isn't a death related to the stench in our drains. read more

Oceanaire is a top of the line apartment complex. The buildings were designed and built in a staggered way so you share minimal wall space with your neighbors and have maximum light and views. The place is over 40 years old but has been kept up in as new condition, and generally is very well maintained. There is a large area with a variety of units available at different price ranges. The units near Palmetto Dr are less costly than the ocean view units on Esplanade. The web site has a detailed map and it is daily maintained for availability. Check your units you might be interested in and use the web site to look at month end dates in the future to see what is coming available. I had my eye on two sets of units so I monitored the web site daily and as soon as one came available I applied and got it. There are 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom and studio units. Each has parking in a secure garage. Each has washer, dryer dishwasher, garage disposal. Bathrooms have tub and shower and low flow toilets. There is no storage but you can put low profile storage units on your deck if needed. Visitor parking is a problem in this complex as certain tenants take advantage of lax enforcement. Street parking is often available so so far it is not a huge problem. I have asked they start enforcing rules so my guests have a place to park when visiting. So far no response. This is my only gripe with the place. There is easy access to the beach next to the property. Whale watching is epic. Weather is cool and windy and sometimes foggy .... in other words .... Pacifica. Good walking trails and easy walking or driving access to the Safeway shopping area. Lots of places to go, including The Chit Chat Cafe, a great place for local, live music. Access to Highway 1 North or South is very easy. Also access to Skyline highway 35 and Interstate 280 are with a mile or two. Oceana Pool at the High school is a mile and a half from the apartments and is available for swimming and water aerobics 6 days a week. 24 Hour Fitness is 1/2 mile away. Paragliders fly by all the time and there are tons of fisherman and surfers. I moved from one unit to another after 8 months on a 12 month lease. We were able to easily figure out a very fair adjustment to my lease letting me upgrade from a great place to one that is epic (see the picture). I appreciate how responsive the owners and staff were in making this happen. Cable access OK here Comcast and AT&T. Satellite dishes are allowed but can be problematic given we are at the beach. This place is very pet friendly. It is non smoking. This place has all I need. View, quiet, amenities, courteous and responsive staff, well maintained, parking, access to town and to freeways and extras. read more

We were going to rent here... but we're given one price only to have it change. The apartments are very small. Not sure how you fit a bed in them. If you have a view that's great. The balconies are good size. No elevators. The fireplaces are "faux" The biggest issue though is having to go through a central location as no waiting for a response. I just finished moving out of my apartment at OceanAire after living there for 9 months. I was moving to the Bay Area and needed to find something quick, easy, and safe and OceanAire was just that. I knew I couldn't stay long term due to it being out of my budget but it would be manageable for the short term with money I had saved. If money wasn't an issue I would have never left! They're pricey but it's definitely worth it. Not only is the quality of living very high but their team of staff is what makes them truly stand out. Gina helped me from the beginning, showing me the units that were available and everything else after with getting approved and signing the lease. She should be the standard for leasing agents, so patient, warm and personable, and not pushy whatsoever. The manager, Zee is also one of the nicest people I've come across in the CA rental industry. She's incredibly responsive to emails and any issues and is really everything you'd want in an apartment manager. Maintenance requests were always resolved very quickly which was really nice. I really can't think of 1 bad or negative thing over the last 9 months I spent there. Definitely an amazing place to live if you have the chance, take it! read more

RIP OFF!!! Do not move here! They don't care about their residents and just want to rip you off. After the whole bike situation, we gave them another chance. Everything was great, smiles and all. After we moved out, we got hit with a $800 move-out statement (AFTER THEY USED UP OUR $500 DEPOSIT) for alleged damage we caused to the fridge and the stove. There was absolutely no damage, and we disputed this statement right away. We would be more than happy to pay for actual damage that we caused. For MONTHS, we contacted them and requested evidence of this claim. Months later, nothing. No response, no explanation, and absolutely no care. They ultimately just submitted this to collections. Save your money and patience. Beware. This is not a place where management values its residents or their living experience. All they care about is sucking as much money as possible--to the last penny--from their residents. Couldn't be more disappointed with this experience. read more

I moved out in August 2022. They send me a document saying they will return $215 of my $500 deposit after the $285 cleaning fee. But it is May 2023 now. After many phone call and onsite visits, I still haven't receive the deposit yet. They didn't even reply my email or call me back. I have to resolve this matter with them in court. My big mistake is not took tour before signing up (I am from another state). All paper work done online is easy, but when you drive long way to here so you just want sign paper for receive the room ....DON'T trust the picture they post on web (I have to give ++ points for the guy who took that picture) The room size is not worth the monthly rent, the apt is small, old ... except they repaint for fool you at first look, but after living a month, bug, spider, rat... will visit you, and doesn't matter you keep your place clean it's still feel dirty. Don't expect much for balcony because it's useless, the wind and cold all year long and it bring sand to your balcony and destroy all of stuff you have. Management team will charged lots on top your monthly rent, this place is old so manage fee will be tough. Rent can be cheap but with another $200+ for utility will be consider. Everywhere I go in Pacifica, I meet my neighbors from the OceanAire, and their horror stories keep getting worse. Just yesterday I met a lovely lady and her daughter in the garage who informed me she's been living with giant Norway rats in her apartment since before her daughter was born. Personally, I experienced discrimination against me for being disabled. There is no way a person in a wheelchair can access the hot tub, leasing office or the clubhouse, and they simply denied my request for a ramp because it's "too expensive". They didn't tell me how much it would cost or ask if I would help pay for it, just denied. They also breached the lease and broke the law by charging an exorbitant late fee a day early, and then had the chutzpah to tell me I was wrong when I pointed it out to them. Thankfully their attorney has a brain and set them straight. I've had it with these people, and I'm moving out. But I'm still going to sue them for discrimination. Moving out refund deposit was only less than 1/3 of $500 you put down when moving in. They charged for cleaning fee even though you cleaned your apartment throughly well before you moved out. And charged for shampoo carpet fee even though it's dirty when moving in. They asked to increase the rent to almost $3,000 for a studio size 420 square footage So the advice is NOT staying this complex. You can find better place with low monthly. Worst experience ever. Leasing team denied my international ID on the grounds that federal law doesn't allow them to give me a tour. Total lies and discrimination, by the way. They except people with either USA, Mexico or Canada ID and of course no one tells you that by the phone. I found a one bedroom apartment (second floor, no view) online for $1925 and moved here a year ago from Houston. I moved out because my rent increased to $2175 for another year term lease or $2375 month to month. I would give Land's End five stars for the majority of the time I've spent here but I'm knocking off two stars because of the rent increase and the mandatory cleaning fees I just found out about. I wasn't expecting such a high increase in rent and it was stressful having only 60 days notice to find a new apartment. When I heard about the hundreds of dollars in mandatory cleaning fees (carpet and paint), it felt like they were kicking me while I was already down. I was hoping to get my $400 deposit back but it looks like I'll only be getting a small portion of it back, if any. THE GOOD: - Close to the post office and a fairly affordable gas station -The Safeway isn't good but Trader Joe's, Target, and 99 Ranch are a short drive away - The office holds any packages not from USPS for two days and you can email Land's End to let them know if you're away for longer. - All maintenance requests submitted online are resolved quickly. - Joe and Shelley are always helpful and responsive. - Safe neighborhood for the most part. Rare incidents where it felt unsafe: cars parked on the street with broken glass and a random stranger knocking on my door in the middle of the night. - No bugs except for the occasional spiders and flies. - Plenty of parking. - Covered and locked garage parking space: Mine was next to a pole that I was afraid of hitting and actually hit once. Other than that though, the space was larger than I expected. - Minimal noise: I couldn't tell where the noise was coming from but I would occasionally hear my neighbors arguing, a screaming baby, and someone angrily slamming doors. - The beach is so nice! There isn't any construction anymore and there's a path with stairs now. - The gym is nice and has two treadmills, an elliptical, a bike and weights. - Close drive to Daly City BART station and SFO airport. - The one bedroom has plenty of closet space and shelves. - There's no air conditioning and no need for air conditioning because you can just open the door if it gets hot. There's a heater in the living room, dining room and bedroom. - No need for a shower curtain because there's a glass door. THE BAD: - Occasional construction noise during the day. - The in unit washer and dryer is only good for washing. I would recommend washing your clothes in your apartment and bringing them down to the laundry room to dry ($1.50). - The fireplace is useless because it's just a light. - I wish the placement of the light in the bedroom was better. The switch connects to an outlet right next to the door. I wanted a lamp next to my bed instead so I had to manually turn it on. - AUM charge was $60-70 a month and shared. I traveled a lot and was rarely in my apartment so this didn't feel fair. - No in unit microwave. read more

I've lived here since July 2011--and I LOVE the place. I've got a "junior 1-bedroom" with an ocean view. It's plenty of room for me and the cat. The views are incredible--you can see (and hear) waves crashing on the shore below. I'm in the middle of the complex, just above the rental office--so I don't hear any road noise. Staff are very nice--friendly and helpful. Sometimes it can take a while to get work requests finished, but I think that's to be expected in a large complex like this. (It's best to do the request in person--I think the online system isn't as reliable as talking to one of the managers.) Yes, the washer and dryer are a bit loud. But come on, folks, you have a washer and dryer in your apartment! How wonderful is that? And there is also a laundry room if you're doing a bunch of loads and have limited time. I've lived in California since 1989, and this is by far the best place I've lived in! read more
