Been living here for 10 years. Annabelle is very helpful and caring. She has a good balance between treating you like family yet keeping it professional. To my knowledge she manages 136 units. (So maybe 250+ plus ppl in the community). It's a pet friendly community, so occasionally there are dogs barking but if it persists she deals with the problem. I've had plumbing emergencies during times when she wasn't around yet still handled them remotely(even while attending her younger sisters funeral). It has been a pleasant living experience which I hope to continue. read more

I've lived in many different apartments over the years, and unfortunately, my overall experience living here has been very negative. The location may look appealing because it's close to Redondo Beach, but after actually living here, there are a lot of issues that prospective tenants should seriously take into consideration. One of the biggest problems during the summer is the heat inside the units. When temperatures outside are in the 80s or higher, the apartment can become absolutely blazing hot. The building is very old, and the units seem to retain heat extremely well. Even at night, when it has cooled down outside and there's a nice breeze, the inside can remain unbearably hot. It feels like the building absorbs heat throughout the day and continues radiating it into the units long after the outdoor temperature has dropped. The design of the property also makes the apartments feel very cramped and dark. Our unit gets very little natural sunlight, so even during the daytime it can feel gloomy and depressing inside. Another major issue is the smell around the property. Despite management telling residents not to allow it, some dog owners continue letting their dogs urinate throughout areas of the building/property. The smell of dog urine is noticeable in many areas and makes the property feel poorly maintained and unpleasant to walk through. The parking garage exit onto Prospect Ave is another serious negative. Prospect is a busy street where cars frequently travel fast, and cars parked along the street can significantly block your view when you're trying to pull out of the garage. There have been many times where exiting feels like you're playing accident roulette because you simply cannot see approaching traffic well enough. In my experience, it feels unnecessarily dangerous. If you have guests or a roommate with another car to park on the street, you can forget about it. They'll be parking very far across the street in the residential area or competing with others to park somewhat close. The common laundry area has also been frustrating. The washing machines frequently leak, leaving puddles of water on the floor that residents have to walk around or through. Noise is another issue, particularly on weekends. There have been tenants playing loud music late at night, which adds another layer of frustration when you're trying to relax or sleep. Overall, living here has been a bad experience for me. Being close to the Beach sounds great on paper, and I think that's what makes this property somewhat deceiving. Once you actually live here, the heat, lack of natural light, urine smell, laundry issues, late-night noise, cramped design, and dangerous garage exit onto Prospect Ave significantly outweigh the benefit of being relatively close to the beach. If you're considering moving here, I would strongly recommend visiting the property at different times of the day and night, checking how much natural light the specific unit receives, looking at the garage exit onto Prospect during busy traffic, and walking through the common areas before signing anything. These are all things I wish I had taken more seriously beforehand. The location may initially look attractive, but in my experience, there are simply too many negatives that make day-to-day living here unpleasant. read more

My sister-in-law just moved in a unit here. Its a beautiful big townhouse, alittle older bldg but has full sized washer/dryer ,has big patio and lots of sqft. The reason I know this is because I helped move her in 2 last month,David the manager explained the whole process of the application,income proof,etc he was very nice and easy to work with,she loves it here, and they do have the highest public school ratings in area. read more

It is great for us because it is nice to have the second vanity and toilet upstairs. We have brand new floors downstairs and the living/dining space is very roomy. We were able to paint all the rooms to colors we wanted and have really able to make the space feel more like home and not a rental. There is also a great patio space where you can put storage, table and chairs and grill with room to spare. Also the rent has only been raised once for a minimal amount in 4 years. And another great bonus is that after one year you go month to month. The management is great here and very accommodating. We have asked to remove the shower sliding door and put in a curved handle and it was not a problem. If there is ever an issue, help comes right away. Since living there they have upgraded our floors, dishwasher, shower and they have also agreed to clean our carpets for us. Yes the building is older but so are most places in the area and the price is great, especially with such a great location. The walls are thick, sound just echoes in the corridor when windows are open. The windows are single pane but that is typical for Southern California. This has probably been my favorite place I've lived compared to other apartment units in the area. We foresee staying here until we make the jump to our own home in the future. read more

Not a bad location, but the building is a bit old and therefore has maintenance issues constantly. Annabelle seems really nice, but doesn't always take care of issues quickly. I've been here almost 2 years and she's about to raise my rent again, which would be ok if the place was taken care of, but like I said maintenance issues happen often and she's not too quick to handle. Initially she will respond quick, but I had a major leak soon after I moved in and took almost a year for the entire job to get done. I had a hole/missing wall for almost a year before it was repaired completely. I've called about a few other minor issues and it's been 6 months or so and still not resolved. I hear maintenance guys always complaining about her and how she wants the job done but doesn't pay for enough manning...seems to expect 1-2 guys to handle all the work and that's probably the reason it takes so long to complete the job. I've literally had at least 3 of the workers in my apartment bitching about her while doing work. Not a great relationship. read more

The good, location at Torrance and prospect about a mile from the beach and redondo pier. A nice manager. The bad, buyer beware your rental contract insures that if you move out after living for the contracted year you will get very little of your deposit regardless of conditions. The units are very basic with little storage.Very thin walls let you listen in on your neighbors sex life. Very small 2nd bedrooms and odd master bathroom with an unnecessary extra toilet. Creeky floors let you know every detail of what goes on upstairs. Tiny tub and shower designed for tiny people. All windows are thin single panes and tracks have been worn thin since the seventies, if a door is slammed six units down all of your windows rattle. In the kitchen you have odd sized cabinets with primitive hardware, they make significant noise when you close them. Some cabinets we had, had so many layers of paint on them that they were difficult to operate. We had a Regan era electric stove, and other appliances are the cheapest that money can buy. No water supply for an ice maker. While we stayed for one year on average our water was shut off once every other week, and sometimes many times a week. No in unit hookups, few laundry machines for many units and total cost is $2.50 a load( I suggest hauling your laundry elsewhere). A neighbor had a motorcycle stolen and was told the security cameras were non functional units that don't record anything (good for?). For the $ you don't get much more than a good location. No I would not recommend. read more

Been here a year and a half and love the location. The management is very personal and accommodating! The size is perfect and the patios afford that extra outdoor living space. Spent weeks looking for "just the right place" when we relocated from the midwest and were fortunate enough to meet Annabelle and see Oceanaire. Spacious townhomes, private garages or covered parking, laundry rooms on site, polite neighbors a place that allows pets! Walking distance from Elementary, Middle and High School was critical for us as we had one in each! Walk up appeal to the units is always the first thing our friends and family comment on when they visit. Totally soundproof units - in fact, we can't even hear what is going on upstairs with our kids! Responsive management to any and all concerns and the gardeners are very accommodating too when we needed them to trim back a tree for our satellite dish. This was supposed to be a short term rental for us but we have looked all over the southbay and have yet to find something that has all the benefits as well as the wonderful staff as Oceanaire. And did I mention walking distance to the beach, restaurants, groceries, Farmer's Markets etc etc etc. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to rent - read more

Be Aware! There will be yearly increases. During the time I was there, it went up $100-$150 per month every year consistently. I have lived in apartments all my life. I thought that in this case, it was due to the demand of apartments in general. I found out that it wasn't the case, and that, yearly increases have been going on for 10+ years. You will see and hear movers going and coming all the time. It's not worth the stress of waiting for the next increase and the $100+ dollars added to your monthly rent. read more

Although we've bought a beautiful home in Orange County, CA, i sure do miss living at Oceanaire sometimes! These apartments are close to everything and the manager Annabelle is amazing! We've lived there twice ( we moved out of state for a couple of years) I believe that we lived there for about 9 or 10 years in two different townhomes. We found the townhome to be roomy enough for the 3 of us and our 2 cats. I was happy to also have a downstairs bathroom (located under the stairwell) Watching 4th of July fireworks from our livingroom (faced toward the ocean) along with the beautiful sunsets was a pleasant plus! Like most transient living spaces there's the good and not so good, but when there was problem, the management would quickly take care of the problem. Not just maintenance problems but the odd human problem (ie smokers who enjoyed their smoking away from their own space and let it waft into your place by standing too near your sliding glass door/ windows, thankfully that was never tolerated by management! The breezes there are epic from the ocean and there is no inhouse a/c in these units) Redondo Beach housing is increasingly getting expensive, but we found the rates on these apartments to be reasonable for the area. read more

If you're looking for a warm family environment then this is where you want to live. The manager is the nicest person I ever met. The neighbors are very friendly, I set my garbage in front of my front door from time to time to haul to the dumpster and some of the neighbors would pick up my garbage and take it to the dumpster since they were going that way anyways. I began to return the favors. The manager live onsite and will make sure maintenance requests are addressed in a timely manner. The year I lived here I only needed to call maintenance once for installing a new screen door. For us girl's closet space is imperative, and in the Master bedroom one full wall is all closet space which was nice and roomy with an additional closet on the first floor. The Master bathroom is spacious with a standard size bath tub and a gold marble colored countertop on the cabinets. Much drawer space for your odds and ends and what's really cool about this design is a second exit door in the Master bathroom is the entrance to a second connecting bathroom which in my case was the private bath for my overnight guess. I really liked the fact that the second bedroom had the connecting private bath. To top this, a third mini vanity bathroom is in the downstairs hall corridor that include a BIG mirror, a cabinet counter and sink with a standard toilet for your visitors. The first floor hard wood floors are beautiful with crown molding around the ceiling walls in the spacious living room with patio sliding doors leading to the Hugh patio for serious tanning and entertaining friends. The kitchen has a cute little window with sliding doors above the sink and modern white cabinets. The kitchen appliances are brand new stainless steel stoves with matching microwaves and a overhead stainless steel fan and light finish. The townhome maintained a cool breeze through out the unit in the hot summer time. I enjoyed the year I lived there seven blocks from the beach and will do it again if I move back to California. read more

Basic place to live that could be much better. Layout is inefficient use of space. No walk-in storage. Awkward sliding door closets. No water hook-up for frig so you can't use ice-maker. Most people have to walk down 2 flights of steps and across garage to throw out garbage. Poor onsite laundry facilities with filthy floors - better to use nearby laundromat. One parking place under complex and very little street parking if you have 2 cars. The hardware to close cabinets is weird style from probably 30+ years ago and never updated. So cabinets close very loudly. Old bathrooms with rust, chipped tile and badly caulked shower. Kitchen has chipped counter tiles too and appliances are cheap models. Better to hand wash dishes than use dishwasher. Manager is nice person, but has to be reminded a few times when you ask for something. Time Warner cable comes with rent. Not sure if you can opt for direct TV, Verizon FIOS, etc. so be sure to ask. Patio is ok and being 1 mile from beach is also nice. Still, overall, you can do better for the rent $. read more
