Return to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Tucked in beautiful Evanston, with easy off street parking, set a very distinctive restaurant with tables and chairs so galant and comfortable. Food ingredients specifically chosen from local and flown fresh from other countries. They always deliver perfectly wonderful dishes and make every meal so luxurious and yet humbling. The presentation of the food is makes each bite more delicious and exquisite! The service is so attentive and friendly yet classy. We love to alway return to celebrate any birthday, anniversary or simply just with family and friends. It's truly a wonderful restaurant and we love every respect of our visit. It makes us so special and the food is remarkable! So happy we don't need to journey to downtown and enjoy a greater feast closer to our neighborhood.

Oceanique stood out in every way! Fantastic service, elegant ambience & simply outstanding food! From the artfully presented amuse-bouche to the appetizers and the entrees separated by a palate cleansing raspberry sorbet, no detail was left to chance. As appetizers, we enjoyed Chicken Liver Pate & a beautiful Beet Salad with warmed goat cheese that simply melted in one's mouth. As entrees, the Arctic Char was tasty with fennel & orange and the Duck Confit was sumply sublime! Our decadent dinner was capped off with an exquisite apple tarte and a sinful chocolate mousse. A brief appearance & check-in by chef Mark Grosz himself was an appreciated touch. Bravo Oceanique! What a wonderful way to conclude Chicago Restsurant Week 2026!

Great service from David. Chef visited our table. 9/10 on presentation. We had the seafood platter starter and everything in between.

Maybe once or twice a year I meet a friend here after work on a Tuesday for their oyster and drink specials, we sit at the bar and it's lovely. If you order food, the chef sometimes sends over an amuse bouche of something tasty as well. This time around in addition to the oysters, they also had pan fried shrimp specials so we added a veggie side and made this dinner. An aviation for my friend and an old fashioned for me and it was a great way to catch up.

My husband and I brought my parents here for a nice dinner. My mother who is a trained French chef was very impressed. We ordered off of the five course dinner menu and everything came out in a very timely manner. The wait staff was very attentive, so much so that the one waiter caught us off guard twice in a pretty hilarious situation that startled us. We laughed about it when he walked away lol. The food was all cooked perfectly, and the flavors were all perfectly balanced. It was a little bit loud for my older father who was having trouble hearing us, but I didn't think it was very loud. Overall, we would like to come back here again during the warmer months when they seem to have outdoor seating.

Got this off Groupon for hubby's birthday and I am glad I did. I strongly recommend for a special occasion. Portion size were small but everything was great. The restaurant was very old and dated. Even the front sign was faded. But customer service was great. An FYI for those that bought from Groupon, we still ended up paying an extra $50 for service and tip.

Oceanique is an amazing culinary experience! Lovely decor, nice wait staff and incredible food. It's as good as any high class restaurant that you would see in downtown Chicago, only in a suburb. Definitely check out the 5-course tasting menu. You will NOT be disappointed!

We bought a Groupon for the 5-course tasting menu. I would say the foods were creative but not mind blowing. First course was the chief's surprise. They gave amuse bouche. It tasted like ceviche and pretty fresh. My boyfriend wished they were more crisps to go with it. The second course, I picked scallops and my boyfriend chose lobster salads. The scallops were cooked perfectly with little charness. I don't know if kimchi was such a good choice to go with it. The Kimchi tasted more like regular cabbage to me. There was no fermented taste to it. But it would be weird to have fermented taste to such delicate and sweet scallops. The lobster was pretty sweet and taste. My boyfriend was not a big cheese and avocado fan so he didn't enjoy it as much. Next, we were given strawberry sorbet to clean our palates. The sorbet was not sweet at all and refreshing. For entree, I got striped bass and my boyfriend got the swordfish. We both thought they cooked the fish very well but they were under seasoned. A little salt would go a long way. Thanks god, we ordered the whipped mashed potatoes with basil to go with the fish. The mashed potatoes were pretty flavorful and added the saltiness to the fish. For desserts, we got vanilla bean panna cotta and pear tart. They were appropriately sweet and tasty. Also, their breads were fresh and delicious. Overall, everything was fresh and delicious but not mind blowing. They could improve a bit in the taste department.

As expected, the restaurant was packed, both inside and in the beautiful courtyard. Families filled the dining room, with children of all ages at about 90% of the tables. The team at Pomeroy has been so consistent and professional, that all of our dishes were delivered at a perfect and steady pace, and qualities remained high. Although we got a different server each time we went, they were all very welcoming, friendly, and attentive.  This time, Carlisle did such a wonderful job even though she was super busy, and she wished me a happy Mother's Day several times to make sure that my day was special.  I must mention that the friendly hostess greeted me with well wishes too, and said happy Mother's day again when we left. We had noticed that they had replaced the couch in front of the courtyard fireplace with more tables.  Who could blame them when they had so many patrons to seat.  However, the courtyard still looked gorgeous. Now on to the food and drinks.  I had a mocktail Bleu 75 ($13) that's my favorite, my husband had a glass of chardonnay ($17), our daughter had a Le Spritz Strawberry ($16).  We shared an order of Sea Scallops ($23) and a Warm Tomato Tarte ($19).  I had my go-to dish which was the Mediterranean Sea Bass ($38), I loved the seared skin that was crispy on the edges. Husband and Daughter each ordered a Spring Halibut ($92 for 2) from the Mother's Day menu.  We ordered 2 Strawberry Crème Brulee ($28 for 2), and I shared 1 with my husband.  I also had a cappuccino ($6). The check came up to $283.05 before tips (they add a 3% surcharge to each guest check, which may be removed upon request, we didn't).  As always, our dinner was very enjoyable and it's worth the money.  I had a very happy Mother's Day dinner, and it ended a wonderful weekend with high notes!  We will keep returning!

When we got to Pomeroy for dinner, we were seated in the farthest back room, one that was open-air ... the staff never asked us, they just put us there. The room was nice as was the weather, but the open-air room had gnats all over the place. Now we realize that gnats or fruit flies oftentimes come with wine servings ... and the Pomeroy has a bunch of nice wines, but the gnats flying around your face all through dinner was not pleasant. We ordered drinks to start, and found it hit-or-miss. The Watermelon Margarita seemed tempting, so we tried one. It came with a big smear of Tajin powder on the rim, and was not appealing. Once again, we thought they should mention this kind of thing before it appears. They replaced the drink, but it kept us off on the wrong foot. All in all, they still put our good food. Our complaint was the seating, the gnats, and the Tajin powder ... all they had to do was ask for our preferences and these could have been avoided. But alas, they drop to four stars.
