No stars would be the highest I would give. Our family member stayed two weeks and was suddenly discharged today. Now home, we are right back to where we were two weeks ago. Suicidal, pacing, severe anxiety, severe depression. Called and spoke to "nurse" who said she was fine on discharge. Very difficult to believe when just last evening she was anything but fine. Now what do we do? Rug has been pulled out from under our family and our family member. Back to an ER to even have the ability to admit her anywhere. More expense. MISTREATMENT. SEXUAL ASSAULT. DENIED MEDICAL TREATMENT. NEGLIGENCE. I was admitted here last year for 10 days. this was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. I was admitted with a broken leg that was broke 2 days before being admitted. I had a full leg brace, crutches and was on pain medications. Before they put me in with the rest of the patients I had to remove the brace and give up my crutches. Hospital ER Physician had instructed me not to put any weight on my leg nor remove the brace and see an orthoptic Doctor as soon as possible. So no brace and no crutches. I was given on over sized wheel chair to get around. My arms could barely reach both sides of the chair at the same time. The room I was given was at the very end of the hall. I was not given my pain medication as prescribed my the ER Physician that I saw two days prior. I had major back surgery less than a year from this time. So I was in pain with the broken leg and my back from trying to wheel myself down the hallway every time it was meal time or to attend a class or watch TV. I was also SEXUALLY ASSAULTED by another patient on several occasions. Nurses and Techs had to come in my room some times several times to remove the man out of my room. He would tell me things he was going to do to me while I was screaming for help. This happened at all hours day and night. I could not sleep. I was scared to death for my safety. They would drag him out of my room fighting with him. He physically put his hands on me once. They told me and a family member on the 2nd day I was there that someone would be at my door to make sure he did not come back. The 2 nights after that there was somebody at my door. But then the tech was off and nobody watched out of me. I woke up a few times with him standing on the side of my bed once exposing his genitals to me. After this happened I requested to leave and was told no but I was in fear for my life. I was then told he was under 24 hour supervision. That was a joke. He harassed me in the TV room/eating area. They watched him turn his chair and stair at me. He came to the table I was eating at and smashed my food with his hands. I had two other male patients jump up to try and protect me. This continued my entire stay. The techs sit around and make jokes and text back in forth laughing at the patients. Which was very unprofessional. The nurses were a joke. I had a bright red infection with fever on my leg. Two nurses came to look at it, and they acted like it was nothing. It was very painful, on top of the pain from my broken leg. The infection was diagnosed by a MEDICAL PHYSICAN after I was released. Upon my discharge I requested a meeting with the CEO. Only to show up and him not be there. I met with the Assistant to the CEO. He took notes and said they would be in touch. Never heard back. I spoke to the Grievance Officer twice and left message after message. My messages went unanswered as I later found out she was on medical leave. Two months later I was told she was no longer employed there. Finally got someone's attention and was instructed to write a letter to them with everything that happed to me. The exact same information I provided to the CEO Assistant a few days after I was discharged. I received a letter from them requesting time for them to investigate. Waited a few months never heard or received anything from them. I called two weeks ago and the CEO Assistant stated their findings would be mailed to me by the end of the week. Two weeks later never received anything. Called him and left a message. Call not returned. i Called again today and he laughed it off stating he forgot and that they could not find anything in the investigation. What I experienced and witnessed while I was in this facility was horrible. I requested medical assistance and was told they are not that kind of hospital. I requested EMS and was refused. They do not care about the patients they are legally entrusted with. I intentionally left out "NAMES" but will follow up as soon as I can obtain LEGAL COUNSEL. Most of the techs are rude, and biased against people of noncolor. One actually shoved a patient across the room onto the floor. They have patients that are obviously Alzheimer's that should have been admitted to a specialized facility. On a good note, the social workers and most of the nurses were good, and trying to do their very best in a bad environment, run under bad management. Unfortunately for me though, I was not tapered off my meds in the correct way, which is slowly and gradually, and was sent home in withdrawal. So now I'm having to start over. The medical doctor, Dr. KHAN was cold and harsh, and should be doing something like working in labs or elsewhere. He has no business dealing with Human beings. The psychiatrist was kind, but obviously wasn't knowledgeable about how to properly taper off of benzos. This is my second complaint I was there a year ago. I have made my complaints known to the staff! No one has contacted me. They are so very unprofessional. It's a real joke. What are they there for? I know it's for the money! If you have Medicare contact your insurance. This is called Medicare Fraud. They charged me $13,000 for seven days of care! I received no counseling no therapy no group session. In fact, I was threatened by the so-called therapist/social worker. She told me either I could have therapy or she could get my paperwork ready for me to go home. I call that a threat. She actually threatened me. She told me to go home and read my Bible every day and write a book. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.. I could go on and on and on for days about how horrible this place is how terrible the people are and absolutely no one cares. They feed you on Styrofoam plates. You have to drink out of the same water pitcher every day. You have no idea what they put in the water. I was depressed and suicidal and got no help. Now I've been diagnosed with PTSDfrom my stay there. No one has contacted me from this facility and I've made my complaints known to the head person. The only thing you do is sit for 12 hours straight and watch TV and they have the most horrible chairs! You have no choice because they locked your room and you cannot get in. You cannot have a moment alone anywhere. And don't talk about going to the bathroom. Filthy nasty mess.. You're going to use the same restroom as men and women that are truly mentally ill. Don't ever try to leave. They will not let you even if you check yourself in you are stuck. I lost at least 10 pounds in one week. I had a constant headache and nobody cared I 3 herniated disc in neck and could not get anything for that except Tylenol and I do refuse to take Tylenol. It is horrible on your liver and they should be very aware of that and I'm sure they are. It's probably the cheapest thing they can give you. Like I said it's been a year and I'm hardly any better of the PTSD is if you'll read my review from my original stay and original complaint, you will understand! Please I beg you do not ever put anyone you love their the same if you do. You will see here and smell things that you never thought you would see here or smell in your life. You were in there with truly truly and I have a heart for these sorts of people and I tried to help them while I was there because. I actually saw with my own Eyeballs and this is the truth, and I will swear it on the Bible the staff was actually laughing at an older lady who had Alzheimer's and she was very sick She did not deserve to be in that facility as they had no no training as to have to take care of her. They made her lay all day in a transport chair, laid-back they did not change her diaper or give her water for hours we saw this everybody sitting in that room saw it we kept asking. Is she OK? Does she need something? I contacted the state of Mississippi. They're not gonna do anything about it. They just want the money too. It just boils down to that hard dollar. I think if you want to go somewhere for mental illness, she should go somewhere that's nonprofit! And also I always have trouble sleeping because I have three herniated disc in my neck and it hurts so bad they don't care they leave your door wide open with a light bulb shining right in your eyeballs. So needless to say I had no rest for one solid week so when you have issues with depression, you really really need your rest because but they don't care. I've made an appointment even though it's been a year. I'm going to the facility and talk to them and let them know my complaints in person. Also, I am going over there on a regular basis! I am so sorry for anyone who's ever been there because they will truly truly come out much worse than they ever were before getting out of the place is much harder than getting in. Oh heck yeah they'll take your money to get in, but they're not gonna let you leave!!! I can seriously go on and on and truly write three pages of complaints, but like I said, read my original complaint. Oh I'm sorry I thought I was done, but I am not. You have no privacy. If someone comes to visit they can see you and everybody else. And also, you can see the juveniles which is a a violation of everyone's privacy and the HIPAA act.. At least once a day, one of the juveniles would have a breakdown. The staff would all jump on them and hold them down. It was the most horrible pitiful thing I've ever seen.. And I've also read in the complaints. If you're a parent, you cannot are really have such a hard time getting your child out. They wouldn't wanna deal with me. My heart truly ache for the children. They were really suffering worse than the adults. They were made to watch TV all day too and they had a horrible food. I'm just so sorry for the for everybody!!! read more

Very bad experience. I give them a 1 because they helped my loved one by offering four walls for them to get even after being triggered with a PTSD attack. And the group sessions were good. But as far as behavioral health hospitals go, in our experience it was the worst. I am my loved one's advocate and have walked with them through their entire journey with healing from PTSD for years. I know their story, have access to what medicines that work for them and are able to get their doctors involved since there are medicines they have had very bad reactions when taken in the past. My loved one was under a safety hold for three days which did not require them to take medicine. Oceans in Waco was the most chaotic, unprofessional, disorganized and unsafe place we have ever experienced. I will list some ,of what we experienced: -My loved one was admitted on Memorial day, yet this hospital did a horrible job of checking in my loved one. I understand the doctors not being there but to not have anyone manning phone calls to get back to me on policies or contact me back on her history or take bloodwork before trying to give medicines is appalling to me! - When my loved one tried to tell them that a certain medicine they had prescribed was one she could not take, they still tried to force her to take it. -I did not understand visiting hours because the staff did not seem to clearly know. I got clarity on the next to last day there. - The night nurses were not to be trusted, were not following HIPA guidelines as well some other frightening things that I am reporting higher. -The nurse practitioner who my loved one saw refused to give the medicine we knew would work that was in her records. She also would not accept the already given diagnosis of PTSD my loved one's doctors, therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists in the past and present agree on and under which they have been improving significantly over the years. - The nurse practitioner also continued to try to say that my loved one continued not take medicines, yet she was still trying to force them to take the medicine that they had a bad reaction to on their records. - The nurse practitioner told my loved one that she could keep them as long as she wanted if they did not comply. My loves one, who is a medical professional, no longer trusted them and would only take another medicine and got better in three days. - Oceans records do not reflect why my loved one was refusing the medicine. - I had to meet and talk to the Director almost daily to make sure my loved one was okay and express my concerns. - They only provided them to drink Kool Aid, coffee and water and told them the only juice they had was prune juice . Yet on the last day my loved one was there, upper management personnel showed up and asked them what they needed, my loved one asked for apple juice. They went into the kitchen and brought it out. -Because of their policies, my loved ones three day hold turned to five. My loved one was clearly 100 percent better on day 4, yet the facility tried to get the judge to force them to stay for up to a month. The judge sided with my loved one. - They have a policy that you can only see your loved one once a week. But after complaining that I needed eyes on my loved one because of the mistruths I was told, I was told the director can schedule you for more. Sad thing is that staff was surprised they got out in 5 days because we were told that most people stay a month and some get out in two weeks. That frightens me! I know what we went through just to get clear answers and all the seemingly on purpose misdirection I experienced and I am not new to this. What injustices are being done to others? This place needs an overhaul and staff retraining and a close look by the government agencies that govern them. We prayed and worked hard to make sure my loved one was not further harmed and was safe and not misrepresented. This should not be. People come to them in crisis for help, not more crisis. I was worn out after the experience and warn you to be extremely careful with this facility. read more

A friend went with early stages of dementia. Went in and came out barely alive. Suffered from twelve broken ribs and a broken spine. (He did not go in that way) Criminal is all I can say. I would give negative stars if possible. They turn your loved one against you. Sounds legit in the beginning, but they don't involve family one bit even though we are the ones who admitted them. Every time we call, we get different answers on processes. Left does not know what the right is doing. The therapist starts all answers with "ummmmm...". Family is never updated or consulted about anything. Discharged with no restrictions and if law enforcement gets involved AGAIN in loved ones "events", we are welcomed to bring them back and go through the process again!! They "TRUST" the mental patient to be competent to report everything to family accurately. This is the mental ward "Hello!". Worst experience of my life. I knew within minutes of being voluntarily admitted that this wasn't a right fit for my needs and immediately said so. I was stalled, and pushed around for two excruciating days. Finally, a family member intervened and also told Oceans that an attorney was on retainer to resolve this, and I was finally discharged within 3 hours. Then I went to UT Southwest-Zale Lipshy in Dallas where I was treated professionally and got the help I desperately needed The only place I can compare this to is "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest". If you're not insane when you get here, you will be after they keep you and drain your insurance. I smelled urine everywhere, the staff openly mocked and made fun of several patients in the common area.The so called "group therapy" sessions were worse than a kindergarten class. ALL my freedoms were taken away immediately upon admission and I couldn't leave no matter how hard I tried. There was screaming and moaning from the patients constantly. Most of which was ignored by the staff. Thankfully I had someone I could call for help, but only during a small window of time when phone calls were allowed each day. If you have depression, or ANYTHING other than advanced dementia, this isn't the place for you. In fact, I wouldn't send someone here even with dementia, because they just DON'T CARE. Highly unsatisfied with the care for my elderly loved one as well as the lack of communication from all areas throughout this facility. It's a rip off. No counseling at all.You are constantly yelled at and cursed at and threatned by the techs. They even put patients in a small room and leave them there all day and night. They are put in a chair that lays down and a tray is attached to it so they can't get out.If we get coffee it's always used as a punishment and will use it to take away your so called privaleage also they take the t v remote and if you smoke that is taken away also.They live to scream and curse at you just for laughing among each other.(better than crying). Food was always late and cold. The temperature was freezing inside. We all complained to no avail. I suggest they close this place and send the techs to prison.If I could my rating would be a minus 1,000. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This place is an absolute joke. These people are thieves!! My father passed away of Covid a year ago... my sister and I live out of state and weren't able to be there with my dad nor say goodbye. We had power of atrorney yet here we are a YEAR LATER this month and we are still unable to obtain my father's belongings which included multiple pieces of jewelry given to him by my sister and I!! We have called over 100 times...talked to multiple people...been given the run around...told we would get a call back....same story different day...NOONE has followed through or contacted us back no matter how many times we have called or how many messages we have left! We have even contacted corporate. At this point it's probably safe to say my fathers belongings were stolen by some heartless employee at the facility. There is no other excuse why we would STILL be trying to contact someone in regards to this matter and NOONE will call us back! I am taking the next steps and will be seeking legal action against this facility for theft of my fathers belongings. Stay clear of this place and please dont send your loved ones here!! No wonder my father was so adamant and kept telling my sister and I to get his jewelry and make sure it was safe. He must have known how scandalous and shady this place is! read more

We had a good experience here. It does take a while for them to answer the phones after hours but they are taking care of the patients. And when I called - they did answer and every person I spoke to was kind and helpful. They took great care of my stepmom and were able to get her the medications she needed to help with her dementia induced behaviors. I voluntarily admitted myself to Oceans BH due to depression and other mental issues I was experiencing in July. This hospital is for patients 50+. At 58 I felt like a youngster. The "staff" I will call them, because the majority of staff did not wear name badges, were not very friendly or helpful. It took several times, asking several staff member's for a request or to answer a question. I felt like my needs were not as important since I was ambulatory, not wheelchair or walker bound. It seemed like every interaction I had with a staff member was met with an attitude. I had a second degree burn when I was admitted on a Sat. but I had to wait until Mon. to have it seen by the NP. After a brief disagreement about it being treated, she finally gave in and had a staff member wrap it. I was scared of it getting infected due to the unclean conditions of the hospital. Trash on the floor, food crumbs in the furniture, feces smeared on toilets, urine smelling recliners, dirty Kleenex in my "clean" bed. The meals were slightly warm to cold. Flies all in the day room/ dining area. No patient privacy, very slack searches, when needed. I was only there for 4 days. I have never felt so disrespected, unsafe, ignored, or dehumanized by staff. Oceans BH needs to be evaluated as to patient safety, cleanliness, staff training and attitude. read more
