I can't say enough about OCEANS Church and what it has meant to my life and my family. There is something truly special happening here. He teaches straight from the Bible, but in a way that connects directly to everyday life--real struggles, real decisions, real growth. I've lost count of how many times my family has walked into a service carrying something heavy from the week, only to hear Mark speak directly into that exact situation. It's not vague or surface-level--it's specific, timely, and deeply impactful. It feels like God is using him to speak truth right into the middle of our lives. Misleading Branding - Highly Charismatic Atmosphere I attended a service here because Oceans Church brands itself as "non-denominational." However, visitors should be aware that this is a highly intense, emotionally charged Charismatic/Pentecostal environment. As someone with childhood trauma from Charismatic churches--where I experienced high-pressure tactics like being pushed down to be "slain in the spirit" and intense emotional manipulation--walking into this service was incredibly triggering. The atmosphere relies heavily on emotional highs and a tremendous amount of pressure to conform. I was so overwhelmed by the anxiety and pressure in the room that I spent the service praying just to escape it. If you are a spiritual trauma survivor, or if you prefer a standard non-denominational service (like Mariners), please be warned: Oceans is a "Spirit-filled" Charismatic church in practice, despite what their marketing says. Their lack of transparent branding is deceptive and unsafe for people healing from religious trauma. read more

Is this a cult? My son goes to Bible College here for no accreditation, no degree and spends all his money and upwards of 40 hours a week there. He plans to drop out of an accredited college to continue here because he "can't quit". I can get no one to call me back to talk about this and I'm very concerned. I've also heard allegations of abuse and there are pending lawsuits. The things I've read on Reddit, YT, and Quora are very concerning. Someone help me get my kid out of there. read more

Oceans Church you truly have changed our lives! My husband has grown up in the church and I gave my life to Jesus 6 years ago. Let me just say we have been in several churches we've absolutely loved, however, we've never felt more surrounded by a loving community. In the last year, we have been so loved on by the church's people from Pastors, small group leaders, Oceans college students, to Sunday volunteers. I can truly say every time I'm in Oceans I feel the power of Heaven touch Earth. My husband and I walked in to Oceans Church skeptical and my goodness we have been humbled. Yes, you will find people dressing "aesthetic" but I can truly say their character is far more beautiful than the clothes they're wearing. Don't be distracted by the negative comments, I promise you if you look hard enough you will find people who will walk hand in hand with you! This church is a business and serves as an altar of spiritual complacency. The pastor constantly mentions money and donating, all while wearing expensive clothes. The sermons are watered-down nonsense containing zero substance. One walks away with cheap messages such as "God is your friend!" and other empty platitudes that plague most of modern Protestantism. Young women attend this church in revealing clothing, a sea of midriffs and cleavage. Where is the shepherd? Oh right, hes busy counting his money. Also they occasionally have guest pastors, some of whom are women. A direct violation of the Bible. This church is false and serves the devil with by placating people's spiritual unrest. Amazing church. Moved 1,010 miles down the coast just for Oceans- it'll truly change your life in ways you couldn't even imagine. Pastors Mark and Rachelle had such servant's hearts and have been gifted communication gifts to reach people of all ages and walks of life. Praying the Lord correct's the heart posture of everyone taking things out of context and slandering the bride of Christ. Saying "they ask for donations" as if that's all they talk about, when the reality is that's how ALL churches are funded. Calling praise reports of God's goodness "bragging" or sermons "watered down" really reveals how little attention and spiritual maturity some hold. This is my STORY I'm Jacob I always knew I had to answer to a higher calling in my life if I did bad or wrong but I never had a "relationship" with Jesus christ fast forward a couple years down the road my grandma died at home she was like a mom to me because my mom was working all the time I grew up in a single parent home so my grandma technically was my mom per say. When my grandma died I was there to be a comfort to her during her lasts breathes and sometime after that I got exposed to pornography and found that as an outlet for my grief but little did I know that it would bring anxiety,depression, fear and insecurities. And during my junior and high school years it made a huge negative impact on my performance in school. Fast forward 2025 I lost my job, fiance and was stripped from everything I idolized I had plans to kill myself in my truck but a call from my cousin that same night I planned to kill myself changed everything she told me about baptize America and that it is an open invitation to get baptized with her and well I guess the rest is history. Oceans church is where I found freedom,family,friends,community,encouragement,prayer and most importantly god. All the pastors here are great especially Chloe, joel and Melanie they are more prominent in my life and how the speak into my life because I attend YA night that's focused on my age group. " we value your service to us as a community and congregation we wish you to reciprocate the same and also value each others valuable time " at a bare minimum have the courtesy to update it on your website & if you don't have an A Frame af the entrance gates to say it's cancelled at a bare minimum . I went into building and was told people were notified by email about cancellation ( not everybody signs up as a member that visits your church ) " INSPECT WHAT YOU EXPECT " saying prayers for you to get it right & going easy on the review at 4 star , other than that you are doing a great job read more

I was invited to a Sunday service in September of 2023, and Oceans has been my home church ever since. At the time, services were being held in pop-up tents in the parking lot... but even without walls, the presence of the Holy Spirit was undeniable. During my very first service, I cried, I laughed, I felt deeply convicted, and I gave my life back to Christ. This church has truly shaped me into a better person. The teachings are biblically sound, the pastors genuinely care about the well-being of their congregation, and the community is unlike anything I've experienced. I've found people who once walked the same paths I did ... through growth, grace, prayer and above all faith, we're now living transformed lives. God is the true Savior, but Oceans and its pastors have been the vessels He used to help bring me home. I'm forever grateful for this church and the impact it's had on my life. read more

This is a business. A well oiled machine. I saw the "pastor" Mark brag in a video about how he paid for his wife's fake lips. What the heck!? Just read all of the one star reviews. These people are not lying. Just because the church has a charismatic speaker and loud obnoxious worship does not mean it is being led by Jesus. I watched one video of Mark teaching about Jesus feeding the five thousand and how this apparently means, according to him, that GOD can multiply your resources and give more to your local church. What a joke. This benefits Mark very well as he lives in a $3 million house in Ladera Ranch and drives a brand new Tesla around. Did Church "tithe" go to that? I also personally know of someone struggling financially and having a hard time paying his rent. This church has no benevolence. This is just another western, Greek influenced Hellenistic Church. It looks nothing like the humble church in Acts where no one was without need. Stay far away! read more

This church used to feel like home. Oceans Church was once a small, sincere community where faith, connection, and humility came first. Over time, though, something has changed, and it's been painful to watch. The focus now feels less personal and more driven by expansion and production. The simplicity and closeness that once made this place special seem to have been replaced by a much bigger, more polished experience. While growth isn't wrong, it has come at the cost of authenticity for many who were here before. I don't doubt there are still good people here, but for those who remember what Oceans Church used to be, there's a real sense of loss. My home church is Calvary OC where pastor Jon Randal do expository teaching , word by word from the Bible . I got invited to this Ocean Church and first I notice armed guard with the gun . Then first 10 minutes of service pastor Mark used scripture to manipulate people to give him money for the church . Then he was bragging how many new members he got . There was very little Bible and most of his talk that I still don't get it . He is trying to sell Jesus to you , the role of the preacher is to teach word of God not to entertain. I attended an Ocean's Bible study a while back and there was a guy there who was having a hard time paying his rent - his business had been hit hard during Covid. He had two young children and a wife to take care of. Meanwhile, Mark and his wife live abundant lifestyles and it's not coincidental that each church gathering there's a push for 10% tithes. It's almost as if they make a show out of it. The fact that Mark and his wife live so excessively and a member of their church is struggling to pay rent is disturbing and highly unbiblical. This church bases its appeal so much on appearance. I saw Mark on social media bragging about how he paid for his wife's fake lips. This is vain and not something that should be bragged about. They fit right in Orange County though. Unless you like loud, expressive worship (so called "spiritual filled") and pushes for 10% tithes, I'd run from this organization. I heard one of Mark's teachings about Jesus feeding 5K, and his conclusion was that Jesus provides abundant provisions for us, which must mean we should give more to the church. This is the worst teaching I've ever heard, out of context, and nothing to do with the true meaning of that story IMO. However, since he is paid by the church, as is Mark's new Tesla and beautiful home in ladera ranch, this makes sense. Just because a church has loud expressive worship doesn't not mean its spirit filled. A spirit filled church is one that looks like Jesus - humble and simple. You will not find an authentic place to worship here, and you will certainly not find humble leaders that leads like Jesus or Paul did. Also, TD Jakes is Mark's "idol" he said, which should seriously concern all of its members. Run! read more

I was looking for a new church to call home and was drawn to Oceans messages, purpose, and size of community. My last church was not as big so harder to meet new friends my age. I had a wonderful time attending a bible study group and connected with a couple of the women. Sadly, I was removed from the group since I am not yet a member of Oceans church. The leader said the group was for church members only. I asked by email for the group leader to connect me with the women I had hit it off with. But she never replied. I followed up as well. I reached out on the church to understand more of what was going on and she apologized and said she would reach out to the group leadership team. I never heard back from anyone. Oceans is a mega church and there will be a push for the 10 percent tithe. I don't recommend calling this church home that is not ok with you. Personally, just know you should never attend a church that you ultimately feel guilty if you are not tithing 10%. Sadly, my church search continues, and I will never get to get to know those fellow women that I connected with in this group. If leadership wants to chat with me please send me a message. I was deeply saddened by my experiences at this church. I thought I would be able to find a place where I could worship freely, find support, and not be judged by what I have or am wearing. I got quite the opposite when I went here. People were friendly but if they knew individuals has money it seemed very targeting. I felt as though I was at a networking event (besides the good coffee) rather than a church filled with love of God. The three occasions I went (because I did not want to completely judge the church before giving it a few tries) the main event seemed to be the pastor or an individual asking for money. It was a very money hungry church pushing for larger checks "their first million" and for the support of costs they already went over on. Although I am well off it saddened me I wanted to be at a church filled with love not greed. The church has potential but there needs to be leadership and a great deal of redirection to get back into Gods path of love and acceptance. read more

I grew up Catholic. During my early 20's I was seeking answers/direction from God and came up empty. Then I met my husband and together we started going to a mega church. We loved it. It served us and met us right where we were in that stage of our life. We both got baptized there and grew our kids up in that church. Then the pandemic happened and churches shut down when people needed God the most. That's how we stumbled onto Oceans. I can honestly say, this church has changed our lives. Looking back on all our years before this, I can see we thought we were being satisfied with "spiritual baby food." We got a watered down, "tolerant" version of the gospel....more like a TED talk. We didn't know what we were missing, as we were comfortable and thought we were being fed. This church...a whole nother level! We actually read the word, we learn the context of what was happening and to whom, then the pastor preaches on the importance of that word in clear context. Pastor Mark is passionately in love with The Lord and isn't afraid to share the TRUTH of the gospel. We have been so convicted by the Spirit here, that we look forward to going every week to encounter God and continue to be transformed spiritually and mentally. I was dragged to one of their special event weekends, went to two different services about a year ago. Both times they spend the first hour going on about donations and how you should send them money for their baptize the world thing (which definitely doesn't sound cult-y at all) but that wasn't the kicker. In the middle of some rant that the guest pastor went on, he mentioned that homosexuality is a sin, and people from the crowd CHEERED. It's 2025. I knew people still had these hateful views but to witness it in person was something I don't wish upon anyone. It's truly vile. God loves ALL of his children, and Jesus would NEVER discriminate based on anything let alone something like homosexuality. You would think "hey, it's a guest pastor, maybe the church didn't know he would say that," but the fact that members of this church agreed with such hateful words tells me everything I need to know about the agenda this place pushes. Also, asking for millions of dollars to host an event to indoctrinate people into your beliefs rather than use it to truly help people like feeding, clothing, and housing the less fortunate, is beyond hypocritical as a christian establishment. read more
