Well first of all I have to say I have been searching 13 years since moving to OC for a home church. I come from a long time smaller Calvary Chapel. Mega Churches had great preachers lots of fog and filming for tv. However that was NEVER for me. I am beyond grateful for indignant this loving smaller church that has a very close loving accepting feeling there. I felt community connection and loved the message. I will continue to share this gem of a church with anyone who asks. Thanks for being a spirit filled truly accepting beautiful community church. Good church and a loving community. One of the few churches we were able to find with a Saturday evening service in the area. Seemed like very genuine people. The teaching was biblical, with a little psychology thrown in there and he tied it all together well. Very pragmatic teaching, something you can put into practice immediately after hearing. This Saturday session was pretty intimate, around 30-40 people. Quick announcements and straight to the point message. Timely and relevant message. This is truly a Church for everyone, but I'd especially recommend it for people new to the Christian faith, people who are returning to the faith, or Christians struggling to find "the right church." I was in that latter category until I found TerraNova. The people at TerraNova are very sincere in their kindness. Whether you're a familiar face or a newcomer, they're always happy to see you. If you haven't been around for a while, they might check in and let you know they still care--but without any guilt trips. When they say, "I'm praying for you," you can trust that they are actually praying for you. No one here is fake or performative with their faith. TerraNova also does a great job at unifying Christians who disagree about politics & cultural issues. This was a green flag for me and my wife, who often felt like we didn't belong at other churches because of their hardline partisan stances. If you are curious where a TerraNova pastor stands on an issue, they will be open and honest with you. But their sermons are refreshingly free of any political agenda. If you are used to more formal places of worship (stained-glass windows, bell towers, murals, sculptures, organists, choirs, a dress code, etc.), TerraNova may feel like a culture shock. The attire is casual. The music is mostly Christian rock with a live band. You can bring your morning coffee into service. Worship takes place in an auditorium with multi-purpose chairs instead of pews. But this keeps you focused on the things that matter most: the sermon and the community. read more

Their motto is Making God's Love Famous, and nothing could be more evident than what they do for people- just people of all walks of faith, situations, whatever- they are nonjudgmental in who they extend their hands. The most welcoming , loving community of Christ followers I've ever encountered . They are so generous with their resources , and are always looking for projects in the community as well as overseas to get involved in . Their hands are in lots of places to make the world better . For a smaller church , they make a huge impact in the world. I have watched over the past couple years as they have sent meals that were packed by a majority of the church community to starving children , they have helped repair homes of single parents , made shelters for women's and children with no place to go , donated shoes to homeless , served in soup kitchens , fixed up their places that need fixing up. They pray for you if you need it . Have done random acts of kindness for people in the church community as well as strangers , etc. They have sent my children activities to do during COVID . They have prayed for my husband and I when we were struggling and helped us find resources They are majorly involved in the food pantry located next door . They embrace anyone and everyone and make sure to learn your name and actually will remember who you are ! You will actually become a valued guest from day one. We have invited multiple friends and family members , and all that have come have found this to be "their church" . This is the only church I have attended where I truly feel welcomed as I truly am, weaknesses and all. A home away from home. The people here treat you like family, and not just on your good days. I truly felt seen and loved and supported and very inspired to do good for my community, not because I HAVE to, but because I WANT to! The pastors' messages are easy to follow and understand and the Life Groups and women's Bible studies and Re-engage marriage groups have changed who I am from the inside out, in the best way possible. We are leaving the area for a different state, and my whole family wishes we could just bring the entire church with us. My kids (now teens) were the ones who picked this church because it has the best children's ministry, from the littlest kids all the way to the high school ages. We were looking for a closer church to my girlfriend and I, since I moved to Newport, and she lived in Mission Viejo, and after attending many church services from churches throughout the area, some HUGE and some small, by a chance invite to me to fill in on the worship team, we landed at TerraNova. It's a perfect size church for what we were looking for. Big enough to have resources to help the community, kids, young adults, and to have a nice facility, yet small enough to not get lost in the shuffle. We've made new friends, and have participated in events that serve the local and global community. I've been coming to TerraNova church for a year and 1/2, and I absolutely love the warmth and realness of the church. Some churches can be a bit too "Churchy", using buzzwords and lingo associated with church language, and focus way too much on getting people in the doors. TerraNova isn't like that, as they meet you right where you are, whether you're in a Brooks Brothers suit, or tattered and ripped jeans; or have been a seasoned Christian for many years, or are just stepping foot in a church for the first time. The Pastor(s) all teach from a perspective of Love and compassion, all while being very real, genuine, and transparent. If you're new, they will also know your name next time they see you (Test me, or actually them on that!!!). Their teaching are bible based, but in a way that shows you how it can relate to us in our current, modern climate. As mentioned before, I have been participating on the worship team, so I'd be a little partial if I tell you the worship is awesome (but it really is haha). Christian, the worship leader, is great to work with, making worship a serious part of the service, but making it fun and joyful in the process. Also, he has been blessed with an amazing voice and songwriting skills. I could go on and on, but you're going to get a lot more out of coming to TerraNova than reading my review. If you're new to the area, looking for a change, or God has been gently nudging you to fill that "something is missing in my life" feeling, give TerraNova a shot. read more

We found ourselves "church shopping" 7 years ago after being burned out on bigger and mega churches. It's no exaggeration to say that during our very first visit we KNEW this group of people was our home.
