TL;DR- Truly amazing dentist office, and I'm including the whole experience here in case that matters to anyone (because it matters to me). I never had a fear of the dentist until a few bad experiences at my last dentist. Once I starting to shake in the chair, after previously having no fear, I figured it was time to go elsewhere. That brings me to Dr. K and her awesome little office. Let's start with Laura. Genuinely kind, professional, friendly, bubbly lady. I've been in this office more than I care to admit the last few months and she has never failed to make me feel welcome. That goes a long way in soothing frayed nerves. I appreciate her kindness. Next, you'll likely be taken back by a smiley faced Maria. I've never seen someone so apologetic in having to *maybe* cause you discomfort in doing her job. She's friendly, informative, will explain things if you want her to, patient, and very good at her job. She also seems to have a wonderful working relationship with Dr. Kovalenko, which is actually really important- have you ever had uncooperative dentist/hygienists working in your mouth? I have, and it's a weird experience. Then you'll get to meet Dr. Kovalenko. I sound like a broken record but, she's really great, both at her profession and in personality. She LISTENS to you and takes her time. I also believe she thinks her job is fun- it's a challenge to her and it's interesting. It's not just a job. That comes across in her work. She's a bit of a perfectionist I think and that's certainly not a bad trait to have in a dentist! She's also a lovely person- my insurance would not cover something (long story) and she reminded me twice that I had the option to go elsewhere, and she meant it. There was zero pressure to stay with her. I chose to stay because she's that good. Other details in case you're like me and like the minutiae- plenty of street parking, both metered and non; the office is bright and clean; awesome relaxing new age music playing (I had to smile when Moby came on last time I was in there); I've never had to wait in the waiting room more than five minutes; yes, she does usually have more than one patient going at a time for maybe the first fifteen minutes of your appt but it usually works in your favor- novocaine needs time to work, right? Dr K is a lifesaver!!! Im a professional saxophone player and came in with a badly damaged tooth...this poor tooth has several problems in the past, an apico(?) which is an operation for an infection, a root canal...and now was broken and literally hanging on by a thread.She not only fixed it right away to make my New Years Eve gig, but this tooth has held for years like its brand new!!! This dentist is beyond nice. Her receptionist/office manager (I gave her that title, not sure if she's the manager) is very knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Kovalenko has been our family dentist since 2017. We have many great things to say about her practice. First, we love how thorough she is. She doesn't rush your appointment and she likes to take preventive action whenever possible. She is also in the know with the latest dental technology and she tries to make these treatments available to you (insurance permitting of course.) Her office is also flexible when it comes to emergency appointments and they have Saturday appointments once a month which is convenient for my husband. This weekend i had an appointment at Dr Kovalenko's office to have some dental work done. Upon my arrival i was greeted by the staff and within 10 minutes i was in the treatment room. After examination and xrays doctor explained to me what needed to be done and started treatment. During the treatment doctor did everything possible to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. She was very diligent and thorough and explained what i needed to do at home in order to preserve my teeth and reduce future dental problems. I find it weird that my insurance information was always asked for days before my visit when I'm used to just submitting that information the day of the appointment. First red flag, I needed X-rays and a cleaning for my first appointment. I was told I needed a deep cleaning. Ok fine that's not covered by my insurance. I had a fillings that came out and needed to be filled in the back of my mouth which is a metal filling. My insurance did not cover it at the time and the price was upwards of $200 to fix. So I waited until I got new insurance and made an appointment. Again same process what's your insurance info days before the appointment. I then receive a call from the dentist saying hey you need a filling fixed but the dentist here only does composite fillings and it seems your insurance doesn't cover that. So hey that would be upwards of $100 something. See the pattern here, this is a money grabbing scheme where they look at what your insurance covers and find was to make you pay out of pocket. I will never recommend this dentist to anyone. But they did do a great job on my cleaning. read more

She is very particular with the quality of her work, not satisfied unless everything is completely perfect. It's been a while since I've had a regular dentist, having been spoiled by the now retired dentist I've had since childhood. Most dentists I've tried since lack bedside manner and push expensive (and unnecessary) procedures. Then, when it comes down to the cleaning, they do a rush job. Well not Dr. Kovalenko! With Dr. Kovalenko I received the friendly, attentive service I've missed for so long. She's got a sense of humor, takes her time with you and genuinely cares about her patients' teeth. I've been to see her three times now (she is now officially my dentist moving forward) and already have my fourth appointment set up. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes, if at all. Her prices are more reasonable than most dentist offices. If I had to come up with a con, the only thing I could say is that parking can be a tad tricky, but I've always found a spot on the adjacent side street (don't remember the name), less than one minute walk from the office, which is on the 2nd floor if memory serves.
