I've played OGC dozens of times over the last few years but I'm starting to get over it. The course is fine. My problem is with the 19th hole - bar/restaurant. I usually tee off around 12:30 pm. The last few times they decided to close right around 5 pm - just when my group is finishing. Today was a perfect warm sunny day, and at 5 pm they're closing up, pushing us away as we tried to walk in and get served. Yet there is a big crowd still out there on the course. Ever since the people working in the bar changed over it seems there is an urgency to close early. To top it off there was no cart service on the course all day long either. My group looks forward to that 19th hole and if Oceanside Golf Course can't provide it we'll go elsewhere. read more

I love this course, the cost is fantastic, and the staff has always been great, I had to postpone a 4 some once and they simply said "no problem". The greens are always in good shape but this is a course that rewards great shots because past the first cut there is low water desert landscaping. read more

This course would be a great place to play if it weren't for the incredibly slow play that the course management seems unconcerned about or does not want to confront. We had two groups totaling 7 golfers and a threesome in front of us was anywhere from 4 to 5 holes behind the next group. A request for a marshal went unheeded and staff seemed unconcerned or unwilling to deal with the situation. A 5 hour round on a Monday morning? Unacceptable. read more

Horrible treatment at this course. We played here last week and enjoyed it and thought we'd go again this week. We called while still playing and was told we would need to pay ahead and could pay after our round. I went into the pro shop and said "$160 right" and was told "we're giving you the $33 dollar rate". I didn't ask for a special rate but was happy to get it. Here's where it gets crazy. We show up this morning and we're told we each owe $7 and are accused of trying to scam $7. We knew we couldn't find another tee time so just paid. My friend who originally called said "the guy said he would charge us 33 because the greens were going to be punched." I went in after the round and a person claiming to be the manager called us liars. He then called in the poor young man who tried to hook us up and in a menacing way said "you didn't give them a discount did you" of course the response was "no never happened". I didn't get a receipt for my $7 so I don't know if it's some sort of scam they run, or if it's just such a hostile work environment, the employees are afraid to be truthful. In any case beware! Needless to say we'll never be back. read more

Currently this course is in great shape. Best it's been in 15 years. Can't beat the price. Staff is nice and laid back. The reason for my review is to compliment one staff member. Yesterday I played here with my boyfriend and when we returned the cart after we were finished at about 7:15, I accidentally left my small wallet in one of the front cubbies of the cart. As we were getting into the car about to leave the young man (with dark hair) who we dropped off the cart to came zipping around the corner and told me I left my wallet, returning it. I was sooooooo happy and thanked him greatly. I know that this type of behavior (returning a customers wallet) is to be expected from employees, but unfortunately these days it's often rare to find genuine people. He could have easily kept it and I'd have no proof. Especially at a course like this one, versus a nice membership-only course, it's nice to see honest genuine employees. read more

This is a great course for the price! Coming from AZ with all the over-priced golf, it's a pleasure to play a course with some challenges for a real decent price. Plenty of par 5's and tricky course design to test your skills. Course is good but the people there are fantastic! Special thanks to KEVIN who went way beyond to help us out when we locked our keys in our car. If you're in the Oceanside area, would definitely recommend this course. This side of Oceanside is far along highway 76, you pass the old swap meet and the airfield for small airplanes & helicopters. Away from the tourist side, but close enough to the beaches. Beautiful views of green hills and not far from the city of Vista. read more

Pretty good course overall. Employee was very rude to my wife and I. Even threatening with his aggressive gestures. Went to this course almost weekly and was treated like crap even being a consistent customer. This happened because we played 1 extra hole after skipping a couple on the front 9. My money will go someplace else I guess. read more

My first (and only) golf outing was at Oceanside, but it was very nice, from the grounds to the employees to the other golfers. I went on a Wednesday afternoon with a friend, and were checked in by a very friendly male in the office (Fred maybe, but I'm terrible with names). We were given a cart number, and just asked to let him know when we were ready to head out. We went to the driving range first - this was a little disappointing compared to other's in the area. It was small with only a few lanes, and they were uneven with patches of grass missing. Then we checked out their putting practice area - not bad, no complaints there. When you head out to the course, the club house is directly in front of you, so stock up on beers if you want, or grab some after the 9th hole. The course wasn't busy while we were there, so we played through in about 4 hrs. There isn't much I can say specifically about the course since I don't have experience elsewhere, but this seems like a great location especially for beginners and anyone trying to get a round in for a good price. I can see myself coming back here. read more

Nice muni course. Can't beat the greens fees. I like the facility because it has a decent driving range... wish it was lighted though.

O-side muni is an OK course, but nothing to get excited about. The course is full of beaten up fairways, neglected rough, olds with pull carts and side-by-side fairways. It also has a good amount of charm with some clever hole designs, a nice super elevated tee box on a par 3, and a nice series of finishing holes through the marsh. I probably played this course 25 times as a junior thanks to their old $12.50 junior rates. It's still reasonably priced for us grown-ups, although you can find better values elsewhere if you look. read more

This course has way too many dog legs. I don't know who Eli Callaway is but he must have been and old.fart who could drive far.when.he designed this course. It seems like every whole is a dog leg. Overall the course was not in great shape the greens were sands and yet we still payed full.price. I prefer the Marine base which is cheaper, less busy, and better designed. read more

The Oceanside Muni is a Great course for an AMAZING Value. I play there all the time and the layout seems easy enough, but it will jump up and bite you from time to time. The greens are outstanding. The staff and the service that is provided is better than your average muni. It seems like some people are upset about a delay or some other issues that could arise at any course, I guess they want their cake and they want to eat it too. Fun course, really nice greens. Fairways we're just OK, bunkers not so much. Pace of play was excellent, 4 hours for a Sunday afternoon. This course will challenge your shot making off the tee. Staff was courteous and price was fair. Didn't have anything to eat/drink but they do have grass driving range. read more

Fairways are flush with grass and the greens are rolling great. I think this course is in the best shape of all time.

Went to this golf course for the first time the other day with a friend. It was really a good time. We had a few beers and hit some balls at the driving range. No complaints about this place. I recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun time with friends. read more

I play this course all the time and it is without a doubt the best municipal course in history. One of the best layouts in San Diego period. Its wierd seeing these negative reviews online that couldnt be further off. Like Daniel B from La Jolla. First off if you had any talent on the course, the conditions wouldnt bother you. Also if you have ever played golf before, you know that a municipal course, on a saturday before the Superbowl might be busy or "inconceivably crowded". Its a muni not a country club genius. I took my young son out to play and paid $70.00 for both of us to play. I went to hit my son's ball to help him and the Marshall came out and yelled at me telling me I was not allowed to hit a ball twice. Seriously??? Then an old man behind me yelled at me for trying to hit his ball as well. I was keeping up with the pace of play and paid for two people. I brought it up to the front desk and the Marshall came out from his office and started yelling at me again trying to defend his actions. Either way - this is a crappy course and not worth the money! The staff is rude and inconsiderate of children trying to learn to play the game. Never going back there and don't recommend this course to anyone! read more

The only reason it gets 2 stars is the greens are in good shape. The rest of the course not so much. This course is fine for beginners or people not playing a money game, too many inconsistencies (patchy fairways and rough) to play the ball down. If you're a good player, don't waste your money. Go to Arrowood or Pendleton. read more

I played this course for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised, so I cam back a week later. It was even in better condition. I always heard bad things, but I believe they really have turned it around into a decent course. Also love the fact you can get a last minute tee time online for cheaper on their website. Our foursome arrived early for an 8am tee time. We were asked to tee off on the back nine. When we reached the "turn" and waited to start the front nine we encounterd a 2 hour delay and at least 15 groups started before us including new walk-ons! The marshall told us that because we made reservations through "golfnow" we get the lowest priority even though we paid the course directly at the course weekend rate! It took 2 more hours to complete 4 more holes because of the slow play and we left. Seriously, this place sucks! read more

wow just golfed here with some friends and the place leaves you thinking what course do I want to golf at next cause I probably won't be coming back here. The layout is somewhat boring and repetitive and more than not, not well kept. The price wasn't worth the course, I can play at other equal/better courses locally for the same price. The food is limited bar food and just okay (order on the 7th or 8th hole if you want it at the turn, 9th hole is too late) our cart almost ran out by the time we were on the 13th hole, when we turned it in and shared that with the the guy in the pro shop, he could have cared less. I felt like I was interupting their day with wanting to golf. Our bartender though (short haired brunette woman) was great and attentive hens the two stars but the other people (looked like management) coming in and out never spoke a word to anyone and appeared to be miserable. It is what it is, a muni course. But I would make the trek to Arrowood, Golf course of ca in fallbrook, Camp Pendleton, or Crossings before coming back. read more
