This Place Is Absolutely Stunning. Not only is the course meticulously maintained, beautiful, peaceful and unique. We thought we were going to play another course in area and couldn't get a tee time. But that loss turned into a great find. Native Oaks was an excellent course to play. The only bad thing I'd say is the carts are kinda annoying, they scream at you if you don't stay where they want you too but not a big deal. Would definitely play here again. read more

A really nice golf course with beautiful scenery throughout. On several holes you will have water to contend with. The course definitely offers challenges as some holes favor a draw while others favor a fade. With the rolling contours and mountain and brush backdrop you are treated to a variety of different looks and challenges. Definitely a target golf course as you do need to hit your shots on the correct side of the fairway if you want clear and open sight lines to the greens and flags. My work colleague, Jeff is a regular so he was extremely helpful navigating the holes. This was an extremely cold and frigid day so I can't say it was the most comfortable from a climate perspective but the course is both interesting and fair. read more

This course is awesome. Coolest driving range I've ever been to - they have Trackman for every range spot that you can access on your phone. Super friendly staff and greens crew. I also lost my range finder, called after and they said they found it and are saving it. Prices are great for tee-times, great availability, and no one ahead of us or behind us on Friday at noon. Truly a hidden gem with a tough layout. Fun course! read more

This is my home course and I play it 3-5 times per month. The staff are all very friendly and I've met a lot of great people around the practice facilities or during a round. The course conditions overall are great, and the areas that need work (bunkers at the moment) are already being renovated/improved. People who come here once may notice a bad area here and there and give this place a low-star review, but I think it misses the larger picture. For two years now, I've seen this course get better and better while others in the area get worse and worse. The front 9 and back 9 are also very different, which makes it feel like you're playing two courses (personally, I enjoy that). With the discounts I get with the Player's card, it's a no brainer. This course is a far better value than what I get elsewhere, and they put money back into the course. read more

Have played here many times over the last several years and enjoy the course layout and it's typically in good shape. I was there yesterday though and was surprised and disappointed by the condition of the sand traps. Also, I had left my clubs at home by accident (50 minutes away) so I had to rent a set. The cost was around $50 for the set but I was surprised to learn that it didn't include tees or a divot tool. I would've thought they would come with club rentals, especially since tees are so inexpensive and you'd think they'd want you repairing divots. The 3 wood they rented me also had a loose head so I was unable to use it throughput my round. They renamed the course to Native Oaks, and so I guess they feel they can charge a lot more than before. For the price, you would figure it would be in better shape. Hole #10 is a par 4. However, they have the entire fairway roped off and it is played as a 70 yard hole. I have attached pictures of some of the bunkers, which were in horrible shape, as you can see. These are just some of the bunkers. Most were in bad shape. The course would be a lot better to play if attention to detail was followed. First off, I I would like to commend the woman (Gina) in charge of the cafe. Her food is INCREDIBLE and clearly made with love! She also made me a delicious cocktail that included, pure juice of grapefruit, tequila, with sweet agave nectar, along with soda water that became an amazing crafted Paloma.the straw was dipped in honey for a finishing touch! Go get yourself one and chat her up! She's a doll!!! In the shop, we encountered Sean and Eric the general manager. I hope you get the chance to meet them. Both were super personable fellas that have immense gratitude for your visit with them. The course is in GREAT shape!!My boyfriend and I were definitely challenged which made it really fun for our "wagers" throughout the game. I should have stayed there, as my swing was a bit more erratic on the course, haha! Everyone was engaging and shared tips for maximizing our experience. Course is 100% worth the money. Greens were great and overall very well kept course. Some of the staff are psychos though. Tee time was 7:30. I was at the tee box at 7:15 and they ended up sending out me and the three some I was paired 10 minutes late (7:40). We were about to make the turn and our elapsed time was 2:08. At that time they told us if we don't pick up the pace they are going to tell us to skip a hole. We were ten minutes off pace after being sent out ten minutes late and we still finished in 4 hours and 26 minutes. On the back 9 there was no one within two holes behind us. This is my first time playing this course. Overall I had a great time and look forward to playing this course again. Pros: 1. The staff is very nice and accomidating. I felt they genuinly wanted me to have a great time on the course. I only get to play once a month so I appriciate it a lot when the staff is warm and welcoming. Its starts my round with a positive outlook. 2. The course layout is amazing. A little bit of everything. Great use of water features, fairway/green side bunkers and elevation changes. It really makes you think about your next shot. 3. The greens are well kept, fast and fun! 4. The price is fair ($29.00) for the time of day.(we played at 2:00pm on a Sat.). 5. The golf carts have usb charging connections. 6. The golf carts also had ice chests on the cart. These came filled with ice and kept our drinks nice and cold. 7. The scenery is beautiful. I would love to walk the course. This would allow me to enjoy the natural beauty of this place. Cons: 1. Yardage markers are missing from the fairways. Since I use my phone GPS to find yardages and my GPS/cell service (TMobile) was spoty here this made it very difficult to choose the right club. I suggest each player bring his/her own range finder. This gives me a good reason to explain to the Mrs why I NEED a rangefinder. Woods Valley Golf Club is a great course and well worth returning too. This course is in very good condition...however the past few rounds I've played there the pace of play has been incredibly slow for the time of day and day of week. Today was going to be a five hour round, but we gave up and left. At one point, on hole 10, there were five groups on the hole....two on the hole and three groups waiting to tee off. We started at 1230 and it was questionable if we would be able to finish the round. Called the club house and got a Marshal out but it didn't have any effect. It seems this course has developed a culture of slow play and the course seems to tolerate it. It's perplexing how these courses treat slow players with kid gloves and don't enforce pace of play. One or two slow groups can ruin a round for every other group on the course. read more

I really like this course getting the tee time I wanted was easy . The guy that answered the phone was friendly and really informative . So the drive out there was kinda long coming from the beach but scenic . Showed up parking was great no risk of getting my car hit by a golf ball lol . Checked in and paid & was given a complimentary divot repair tool with the logo , yay I Love free stuff . Anyway the golf cart was like a luxury car . Super comfy seats , lots of storage , a cooler with ice in it . Ball /club washer GPS with a colored screen and accurate as F . The course was in true Troon Form . Very excellent shape from the tee boxes to the greens . We saw the cart girl at the 4th hole to re up on some coldies and she was very easy on the eyes lol . The pace was great no one on our backs and no one ahead of us the entire round . If you haven't played here you really should give it a try . You won't be disappointed . read more

The drive to this beautiful and nicely maintained course, located near the Valley View casino, from our Carlsbad timeshare was a bit far. The staff was friendly and helpful. The carts' not equipped with GPS. The course, with its many bunkers (e.g. hole #7), posed many challenges for high handicappers. Water came into play at many holes (all par 3, and #10). "Rough is tough", we were told. Once a errant ball strayed sideway, it's typically a goner given the abundance of dry bushes, gopher holes and even a deep gully (#16). The green was rather hard and less forgiving. The high temperature (100 degrees) added to the challenges. read more

09/02/2023, nice track but bad conditions. Every green had fungus damage in several areas. It's my opinion that the course is overpriced and not worth $110.00. Valley View Casino needs to put more effort into the course condition and facility. Temporary building for a club house and snack shop. Today's golf requires a better experience. read more

I guess I must be spoiled by the conditions of the public courses in Ventura County...but this place was just one shade better than a cow pasture. There were no "fairways" and the greens were like trying to putt on a "funny mat". The range (as mentioned by another person) is in decent condition and the practice area is quite good for chipping and putting. Beautifully designed course, but poorly maintained. There are large portions of the fairways that are either dried, burned out 'grass' or just plain dirt. They never water this place, or so it seems. I played in October of 2019, two years after the California droughts ended, and there is plenty of water without the severe restrictions that we used to have. I'd hate to place this place in 6 years when the drought conditions return to California. It might be a sand box. Because of its location, it seems like the only people who play here are of retirement age. That's all well and good. Heck, I hope to be playing golf when I'm retired. But it does also mean lots of slow play. The price is reasonable during the week, especially during twilight. read more

Had a 12:10 tee time today and ended up not teeing off after waiting til 1:00. There was a shotgun tournament that was evidently behind schedule. People with tee times were waiting for tournament groups to finish on 18 and then go to first tee. Then the starter decides to split up 6 golfers into two threesomes instead of having two of them play with my twosome. Just as we were about to tee off the starter tells us that the group on 18 is going in front of us. Raw beginners were 1/2 hour behind group in front of them. That was enough. Got vouchers but not sure I'll return. read more
