Amba Jewelers - Messy repair. Very rude worker and manager when we brought it up with them.

AMBA Jewelers are racists! On Saturday I visited this long…read moreawaited store as my final purchase of a celebratory day. My friend of 20 years who suggested the store had a last minute family situation that led me to visiting alone. Regardless of the hour commute, I looked forward to my purchase of a matching earring, necklace and bracelet set I had long admired at weddings. Upon entering I was targeted, questioned and then followed. The place was crowded however, it was obvious that the other customers were not of my race or ethnicity. As an educator, an American and a good citizen, I hoped my suspicion was wrong and stayed optimistic as I was about to purchase my special present of which I had pictures. The rude stalker female, racially profiled me to the point that I couldn't see the jewelry as she stood in front the displays. I asked her a question about my intended set and she immediately disregarded my question by stating, "we don't sell that" I turned around and noticed what I has asked about was on the opposing wall. I pointed at the items and said, "Are those what you just said you don't sell?" I decided maybe she had persona; issues and walked over to the opposite side of the store, where she followed me again blocking the merchandise. I asked for the manager and she blatantly lied and said she was the manager. I walked over to a older male employee who was working with a family and asked if he was the manager. After a delay of his admiring my midsection, he finally looked towards my face and said he can call him for me and that he was in the back, which proved it wasn't the liar female who racially profiled me. The manager/owner and I spoke. I explained what was happening was racist and discriminatory. His reasoning was that the area was dangerous with Spanish Mafia gangs and asked how I knew about his store. I confirmed my friend/colleague and he asked for her name, of which I furnished and wondered if all the other Indian customers were also asked for their recommendations by name. Obviously, at that point the message was clear that ALL was not welcomed at AMBA jewelers. My budget was $10K. I left with every penny and wouldn't even pay them attention however, I will alert the world of this racist store and their discriminatory practices. Formal complaints will be filed and city agencies will be informed. Additionally, the "dangerous neighborhood? Spanish Mafia? and Racial profiling " only existed at AMBA's jewelry. The other stores especially across the street, were welcoming, accommodating and respectful. I've made my purchase and will definitely be returning to purchase more at any store other than AMBA jewelry. NYC does not welcome racists, hate and discrimination in 2024. This WILL be investigated and the owners need to teach their staff to have RESPECT FOR ALL.

Very rude workers and managers. They yelled at us constantly that we just left. Do better.read more
