I'm motivated to review because of Nicole's poor review. There IS a lunch menu and the salsa is AMAZING. Not its not packed with heat but it's FRESH and so yummy!! Food is basic standard Mexican food. Almost ALL dishes come with rice and beans. And FREE sopapillas. Ranchero beans are super great! So get yourself to Ochoas!! And the tables distances are normal. (I just reread all her complaints.) And people in Canton are friendly. I go here often and service is ALWAYS excellent. Ignore the one timer's opinion. Listen to the regulars! The only reason I gave this one star is because the waitress was nice. We had 2 frozen margaritas served in tea glasses! We tasted no tequila just mix. Price $30.00. Cheese dip tasted like bland canned queso. Refried beans tasted and looked like partly mashed canned pinto beans! We had at least 3 flies flying around our food my husband said more. We had to cover with napkins. We told manager drinks were horrible and the flies were even worse! He said yeah we are having a problem with flies! No apologies what so ever! Huge variety of Tex-Mex. I like almost everything I have tried here, but usually wind up ordering the Little Joe's Special, the Crispy Combination, Cheese Taco Dinner, Taco Salad or, when I want to take leftovers home, the Arroz Con Pollo. This restaurant used to be our favorite place to visit while we were in Canton. They were friendly and courteous and the food was good. They have definitely changed! The food is still good but the staff was absolutely horrible! They had tables available and did not seat us for 15 minutes, no one ever smiled, and they were extremely rude and cold. One girl in our party was not going to eat and when the waitress found this out she literally jerked the salsa away from her and pushed the chips away as well and said "$2.95 for chips and salsa!". My cousin also said that several people from the kitchen kept watching her to make sure that she wasn't eating any chips. It was absolutely ridiculous! This is seriously some of the worst food I've ever eaten. I understand Canton is a small town, but there is no excuse for the poor quality food and bad service. So many small Texas towns have amazing food. The beef fajita meat was chopped into jibblets. The queso was served room temperature. Visited on a Sunday when a lot of the Canton restaurants are closed. Wish we would have eaten fast food instead. :/ read more

We made the mistake of googling "Best Mexican food in Canton, TX" while driving through town during lunch time. It's obvious the locals really love the place given their reviews. The salsa was just crushed tomatoes, no heat at all. I ordered two cheese enchiladas from the dinner menu since a lunch menu doesn't exist. It was a little overpriced considering it did not come with rice and beans. The chili sauce resembled that from a can, and the enchiladas were exactly like the ones in those frozen meals you can buy at the grocery store for $1.50. The waitstaff was related to every diner in the restaurant, so they were preoccupied most the time. And with the tables so close together, we were privy to all their conversations. But they get 2 stars for their enthusiastic refilling of my sweet tea. Oh and providing us with "to go cups". read more

Wish I would have taken a pic but sometimes words are better at describing great food. My friend and I went here for lunch. The waitress was very attentive and had our drink orders in no time. I'm a very picky eater when it comes to Mexican food after growing up with some of the best in West Texas. The fresh chips and salsa were very good. The queso and guacamole were extremely good and we polished both of them down in no time. The true test for me about any Mexican restaurant is the main dish. I ordered two cheese enchiladas with a hard shell beef taco while my friend ordered a Mexican salad. I always start with the taco first and wow I loved it. Now on to the enchiladas. The sauce can either break or make the main dish. After smothering the dish with raw onion I dug in. When I took the first bite I was like WOW I have struck oil! It quickly reminded me of the great food I had at West Texas restaurants. The sauce was phenomenal and the enchilada was stuffed with cheese. Heaven!!! My friend also said her food was fantastic! It was the best Mexican food I had in years!!!! I believe the cashier was one of the owners(?)and I told him what a great experience it was and that I would definitely write a Yelp review. If I loved here I would become a regular customer but in the meantime I'm probably going to be back before I leave. read more

Seemed to be clean enough. Most dinners do not come with rice and beans which we thought was strange. First time i have ever not finished my bowl of hot sauce. Just not good. Chips less desirable. For a couple of picky senior citizens, we can say we thoroughly enjoyed our first experience here. What a treat.....great food, great margaritas, and very friendly staff. Easy to find and restful stop before our 3 hour drive home. Definitely recommend and will be back next trip to first Monday. read more

Worst Mexican food I have had. We were charged for chips and salsa that we didn't ask for and didn't eat. The queso was inedible. When we complained about being charged for salsa the owner told us that if we didn't want it we should of sent it back. Worst service ever. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have been a customer here since they opened. I've spent thousands here over 15+ years. ( I literally went multiple times a week at some points). I've noticed a gradual decline in food/service accompanied with an increase in price over the last several years (since they moved to building across the street). Today was the final straw. My 14 year old son and his 2 friends walked there from school after school let out. He ordered nachos(was a total of 11 chips) and an order of queso. When the ticket arrived, he saw it and questioned the waitress (politely) as the the total ( almost $20 with no drinks... They had water).. He was told there was a $5 charge for his friend because he did not order an entree... To eat chips and salsa (which he didn't even eat much of). I called the restaurant and asked for the owner, whom I've dealt with over the years and have always visited with in a friendly manner, as I've been there so much. I heard the man who answered the phone tell the owner that "some lady named Amy wants to talk to you" and the owner said "what does she want?", in a rude, 'I don't have time for this' tone. I explained, politely what the situation was, and that this didn't seem fair to charge a boy to pretty much sit with the other 2 boys. He couldn't have cared less. He simply said he would be losing money on that table if they didn't all eat/pay. So I informed him that I hope he stretches that $5 a long way, because, not only will my family no longer go there, but I would be letting people know of the declining food quality/quantity coupled with an increasing price, and service that has gotten terrible. You know, the $20 spent there means nothing to him or me, but it represents what has happened to them over the last several years.... You no longer get what you pay for. read more

Omg food was horrible. Queso tasted like it was made with fake cheese and then seprated. Orderwd carne asada looked like they hacked it in the back then doused it in grease and salt. Omg so salty. My plate looked like it had been sitting in the oven for like 15 min was super hot rice beans and so called nachos all looked dried out. Seriously if i could give a negative 5 i would. How i the world it got voted best of in vzc is beyond me. The salsa tasted like tomato and water pace has more flavor. My friend got fujitas and looked like they were for yesterday and they just dropped them back into a pan of grease and reheated them. Manager didnt even come over to say anything nor did he when we checked out. Nothing looked fresh was all doused in grease and freaking salt. I dont really like to out a business but ive never really had this bad of food from any resturant ever. Didnt even want to attempt to order something else i knew it wouldnt have been better. For 14 bucks a plate at least make it fresh. But if you want to have clogged pipes and be on the toilet within 20 mins by all means eat here. read more

Looking for a place to eat when coming back from a road trip and thanks to Yelp , we came across this wonderful place to eat! Great food!! All home cooked and made with love. The chips and salsa were a huge hit and we still made room for the main meal and dessert. My mom came with me and she hates Mexican food- but she said this is the exception! We will be back! read more
