Dr Garibaldi removed a small cyst from my eye. He was astute and professional. I also appreciated the recommendations of eye care in general. My previous eye doctor didn't make any such recommendations so it was great. The assistants were nice as well. There was one in particular who had a good sense of humor and lightened up the mood prior to the work. The wait could have been shorter but more importantly I appreciated having a good doctor. Doctors and facility are great but while the front desk at this location and garden city are nice they are fantasists financially. Completely clueless and in dreamland abt your account and will obsess and hunt you down every time you visit for the same balance they completely made up. They "explain" it in circles until it "makes sense" to no one but them. Just repeating numbers until you are so fed up you capitulate just to get away from them. They use arbitrary amounts, have no clear picture of insurance, add tests that mayyyyy or mayyyyy not be covered etc etc. the petty shakedowns are like talking to a wall, with them just repeating over and over, it's pretty shocking. A year ago, I saw Dr David Sachs at the recommendation of Visionworks in Levittown as my prescriptions that I was getting at Visionworks were not coming out accurate. As a precaution, they suggested I see an ophthalmologist at OCLI to see if there was anything else going on.Dr Sachs of OClI East Meadow gave me a similar prescription and said that I had narrow angle glaucoma and needed a medical procedure to correct it. I asked him to explain it to me as I was not familiar with this. He explained something very quickly - seemed annoyed & handed me a pamphlet. I asked him what would happen if I did not get this medical procedure. He said I would get blind. I found him very abrupt dismissive and uncaring. Something did not sit with me so I pursued a second opinion. My gut was right as my follow up appointment with another ophthalmologist at a different office said at first glance, it looks like I have narrow angles, but if you look further and take a more detailed look, I absolutely do not have narrow angle glaucoma, and definitely do not need to have any medical procedures! I don't know how a doctor can haphazardly recommend surgery on your eye! Thankfully, something just told me Dr. Sachs was wrong- as well as his impatience and poor bedside manner! A Misdiagnosis could've caused me to have invasive medical surgery on my eyes!!! read more

I will never visit OCLI again! They require that you complete and sign a form for dispensed refraction or they refuse to see you. They are vague in telling you whether your insurance will pay or not. The dispensed refraction was unnecessary and a total scam. They just sent me a bill for $50. Its all about hidden charges at the place. The doctor Sachs was short and not welcoming either. read more

Please note. I am writing about the Location on long Beach rd in oceanside. They are horrible and I will never go back. I arrived at 10.00 for a 10.15 appt. I was told I would be going right in. That didn't Happen until an hour later. Every time iinquired they said yes you are going right in. Waiting room was full. After I went in , I had to wait in another room for over a half hour. I was told they double and tripled book. I guess their time is more important than mine. Won't be going there again. read more

Nice clean office, plenty of parking spaces. Staff is friendly and helpful. Only downside was the long wait. My Mom and Dad are impatient so it was annoying for them but staff was sympathetic. Dr. Jun is very patient and does a thorough exam. He even let me and my Dad sit in on the exam and answered all our questions. read more

I hate having to even give them one star but there is no other option. I just returned from the East Meadow office and I am livid. The first thing they do there is try to get you to take a zillion unnecessary or repetitive tests. I asked to speak to Dr. Jun first because I just had all of the same tests a week prior and I had the results with me. I was there for a second opinion. Dr. Jun refused to talk to me unless I took the tests. Some of the tests are dangerous to the eye to repeat. No one cared. This place is just out to make money and couldn't care less about the patient. I left and will never return. What a pity that doctors like these have become like lawyers and soon their profession will be as maligned. Thanks for not sparing me five minutes, Dr. Jun. Dr. David Sachs and the wonderful staff at OCLI East Meadow have seen me through a very frightening and difficult journey. I was referred to Dr. Sachs by an optometrist who said he wanted me to see someone who had real expertise in difficult corneal issues. I was frightened and worried. My vision was blurry and rapidly getting worse. I was able to get an appointment almost immediately. The staff was courteous and efficient. A special shout out to Cheyenne who was especially friendly and really put me at ease. Dr. Sachs was comforting, reassuring and patient and professional. The examination was thorough, and Dr Sachs took the time to listen to me, really listen. He also explained in detail what his approach would be in solving my problem. During my course of treatment, he always made himself available. When the office was closed due to COVID, he called to check on me and make sure that everything was still progressing according to plan. At no time did I feel in the dark (literally or figuratively). Whatever questions I had were answered, in detail. It seems now that my vision is restored. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have been cared for so carefully and conscientiously. I just realized that this has been a two-year journey. It was rough going, but Dr. Sachs has seen me through. read more

I made an appointment for my annual eye exam as I have done previously with Dr. Sachs at the East Meadow OCLI location. They were very courteous and the wait time was short. Dr. Sachs did a normal check of my vision and said all was fine, wrote an eyeglass prescription which I had asked for even though he said my vision didn't change and I really didn't need one. They charged $50 for the prescription. A few weeks later I get a bill for $130 from Dr. Sachs for the exam. I called my insurance company and was informed that the eye doctor did not record my visit as an annual visit but as a medical visit. I called Dr. Sachs and was informed by his office that this was not an annual visit and that Dr. Sachs recorded it as medical and that I owe $130. I am so upset and disgusted with this center and this doctor. I will not be returning to OCLI. They just bill patients as they please. read more

First let me begging by stating I've been wearing glasses for 8years Prescribed to me by a great eye doctor. Unfortunately my insurance changed and I can no longer see that Doctor forcing me to switch eye doctors. I saw Dr. NIKOLA RAGUSA who besides completely lacking beside manner also prescribed me a completely inaccurate eye glass prescription. After being seen by a technician to figure out my "correct" eye glass prescription , dr. Ragusa walks into the room to do an examination by starting off with "why are you hear today just being a baby and complaining" not sure if that was supposed to be funny but it was extremely rude and condescending. He then proceeded to belittle his fellow colleagues , by stating "what doctor gave you a prescription you have 20/20 vision." Long story short he did not listen to a thing I (the patient) said . Made me uncomfortable by belittling me and gave me a completely inaccurate eye glass prescription (that I had to ask for cause he wasn't going to provide me with it). He based his judgement off of what the technician concluded. Needless to say it was a waste of my time and I now need to go see another eye doctor who is competent. read more

Went here with my partner after calling ahead to check that they accepted our insurance and that we could get a pair of glasses there. The woman on the phone confirmed yes in both cases. The people were friendly enough during the appointment. However, it turned out that they did not have an optician there to actually make glasses. It's just a doctor's office. We needed glasses at short notice and so we had to start shopping around for somewhere that took our insurance when we could have done it all in one place somewhere else. We finally found a place and used the prescription provided, but the Rx was wrong and now my partner has unwearable glasses and we don't have time to get it fixed. They also told me my Rx hadn't changed; however the copy of the Rx they gave me is different from the one I had at home from last time, so now I'm reluctant to fill that Rx, too. read more

I visited on Dec. 3rd and was screened by the nurse who also examined my glasses, it strength etc., I had a comprehensive dilated eye exam done, the Doctor then told me I have 20/20 vision in my right eye and 20/40 in my left eye. He then recommended that 'I could use reading glasses 2.25', such madness, one eye off but reading glasses! If he had read the notes from my screening he would have known that I used glasses for many years, but after screening I kept it in my pocket. Anyway out of curiosity I tried reading glasses up to 3.50, none worked. In summary, an Optamologist who is not up to the task. read more

The place to go, if you have keraticonus. Dr. Donnenfeld is highly recommended for eye surgery and we can see why. The only complaint is that if you pay out of pocket, you must get all of your post op visits in within 90 days of the surgery. TO the people on here who think that surgery is the only answer for keratoconus you need to hear this. Eye doctors hate me because I tell them like it is. I have a mild case of it, however, the eye doctors I saw at OCLI were going to give me an eye examine according to what my eyeglass prescription was at the time and I told them no, That they need to start from scratch and they did and the prescription was fine. I didnt use this office but I wanted to express this. What I am trying to say dont just do what the doctor tells you - realize they are out to make money and the worst thing you should ever do is have eye surgery for keratoconus. And never ever listen to them and wear contact lenses. They want you to think that will help - contact lenses can worsen the problem. read more

Other than long waits, testing you for things they tested you for a week ago not relevant to medical matter but turning you into a billing machine they really just got me angry. I had filled out paperwork with my email years ago. They automatically enrolled me Patient Portal WITHOUT ASKUNG MY PERMISSION Yes you need to put in username and password to get YOUR INFORMATION but it's still out on the Internet. I feel MY PRIVACY HAS BEEN VIOLATED. They did this without asking my permission They say it's secure. Right. I've had more things hacked. DO YOU WANT YOUR PRIVATE MEDICAL INFO ON INTERNET?
