It was really smooth and a very nice quality. The second drink was an iced latte from their specialty menu that had been renamed for a special event I was attending. I loved the flavor of the coffee, so much so that I grabbed some of their beans to take home as well. Merch - There was a great selection of merch from the company and local artisans as well. The stickers and mucus has some really cool designs. Staff - the baristas were some of the nicest people. Not only were they slinging drinks and working the event, but they were just amazingly personable and kind to all of our group. Location - most importantly though was the stunning location. The furniture, decor, vibe and even the commitment to theme through the bathrooms was everything. Even the confessionals booth was just perfect. Overall it is definitely a visit, and I will be back.

Today, I ordered a medium and when I received the Chai and took the first sip, I got a cloying sweetness that was not pleasant to me. I took it back up to the barista and told her it was too sweet and that I must have gotten someone else's drink, but she informed me that they had changed their formula recently and that I had received my chai latte. I have been ordering hot, dirty Chai Lattes for years and I have never had one so off-puttingly sweet. Vertical has a lot of nice drinks and many special and if I ever want to try one I will be back...however, I will start going to one of the other great coffee houses in Cookeville for my favorite chai...what a shame.

We wanted to try their Honey Chai but they ran out of Chai. Notes: We came in the morning and they were busy with line almost to the door. They managed through the long line fairly quickly with a person at register and two baristas making the coffee. Service was friendly and accurate given my families long list of orders. As a former roaster, I can appreciate the small things like how they worked the bar during a rush, the customer service of the staff, and attention to detail by the baristas to ensure every shot was pulled, milk steamed perfectly, and providing quality coffee. This hands down is the best coffee shop in this area. I had a cup of drip coffee which was a blend of Peru and Brazilian coffee beans. It was nice to finally be able to enjoy a black cup of coffee on this trip. I also had a cheese danish and a Morning bun which were both tasty and satisfying. The environment was very cool! Loved the decor and it was a nice size space that used every corner they could without it compromising the aesthetic. Sad I didn't get to Mountain Mama's earlier on this trip but I know from here on out it will be the only coffee shop I come to.
