Hello, First and for most this place is very reputable.. it has helped me out of binds during my stay in LA... however this world is changing and people are taking a back seat and checking out of responsibilities as employees no matter what rank they are. And the only people that are keeping the bussiness doors open are being effected. Meaning WE THE PEOPLE.....not the employee or the ceo or bussiness owner. With a unfortaint displeasure I have to write this. However as a spirtual being I am im doing this to cross my I's and dot my T's these are my words not put through a word correcter if you get what im saying in this chat. Im writing this to say Employee Z. Took it into his own hands to be a boss. When it was a quick y/n. There is no need for 5minutes. Turned into a other call to be held 10 minutes then hung up on.. then I have to switch and endcode a different number. Please make sure you understand it took 3 times... This employee is a stand up person full of character and dependability. It is not easy to find good employees now and days.But please make a duly note it is not easy to find un- vaccanated donors either... with ur abilty to sell a bottle $1500 I wonder what it cost for a un vaccanated bottle. Because im sure if someones blood is about to save my life.. which this vaccilty does "saves lifes" i want to make sure if it was un vaccinated i would only want my blood to mix with only that.... However this is my duligence to make sure your employees clean and squeeky record of a BIG team player is handled even more effectionatly because they are loved. If I could give a rating of Zero I would. I am not one of those people into cancel culture. I am not hard on businesses like some snooty stuck-up trash. And this has nothing to do with the great and helpful staff at the Van Nuys office. This is about the Director and Manager specifically, who refused to help me today. I am an honest, hardworking latino individual who knows when he is screwed over, and unfortunately this is one of those times. I will refer directly- AND I QUOTE- from my complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I speak for any that have been given the short end of the stick. You cannot get away with harming me and then not paying me. I don't care what the policy says. The policy is Criminal. Wrong is Wrong. It is as simple as that, and denying me honest, simple, due compensation when you injure me is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE and I am here to stand up for myself. "I received injuries from my Octapharma blood donation at the Van Nuys, CA. location, which made my entire left arm bruise up and turn purple for over a month, thus making it UNSAFE and impossible to complete my 7 donations within the 35 day promotional period. Even though I was physically harmed, scared for my health and life, Occtapharma thinks it is okay to compensate me unfairly for this treatment. I spoke to at least 2 Octapharma admin and was told based on a ridiculous technicality there was nothing more they could do for me. the 35 days- NO EXCEPTIONS even when the company harms me. EVEN WHEN IT IS UNSAFE TO DONATE, I SHOULD HAVE IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE 35 DAY PROMO period. I feel this is dishonest, CRIMINAL, disingenuous, and outright false, and completely at the company's discretion to right this wrong. I was unfairly compensated for my donation this morning based on this technicality. I am sick of being screwed over by unfair technicalities, this type of overreach makes me disgusted and sad for the exploitation I witnessed today on myself. On 07/11/2025, at approximately 0845 am, I entered the Octapharma Plasma Donation Center in the City of Van Nuys, Ca. As I stepped completely inside and I was taken back from what I witnessed. There was 31 donors in zig-zag line almost out the entrance door. The lines were ridiculous. After waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes to see the screening nurses, I was allowed to donate and proceeded to the donation area. What I viewed was utter stupidity. The donors that had seen screening 20 minutes ago were all seated in chairs. The center two aisles were completely taken by donors. However, the beds against the two walls were completely empty. I asked some of the people sitting in chairs, "what's going on, why aren't you in the empty beds?" A lady faced me and stated, "Octapharma Plasma Administration will not hire any more lobotomists, nor will they authorize overtime." From what I observed, there was possibly 7 lobotomists missing. Once again, Octapharma Plasma which is based in Europe will allow for US donors to sit up to fours to complete the donation process. This is unheard of. People are struggling to make ends meet at this time, to purchase basic necessities and / or food. Octapharma Plasma would have donors sit and wait up to four hours instead of hiring or authorizing overtime. And to top it off, they give some donors only $40.00 per donation. $40.00 for a life saving medication which is created by Octapharma Plasma personnel. Octapharma Plasma charges the parmaceutical companies $9,720 for one dose of IVIG treatment in the U.S. Most patients undergo 4 to 5 treatments per month to keep them alive at a cost of $45,796. With all the revenue that Octapharma takes in, they cannot find the funds to hire new staff or authorize overtime? And the payout for some donations are as little as $40.00. $40.00 compared to $45,796 per month? Octapharma plasma tried to pull a fast one during the pandemic 2020 when they were sued. The money for maximum donation went from $70, to $65, and then to $60. And they started closing on Sunday and opening from 7:00 am instead of 6:00 am. The public will know about these practices. I went on a Tuesday. First off, there should be a list of the questions asked of new donors who only look on the website to attempt self-eligibility determination. It really really REALLY sucks to wait 3 hours only to find you have to be deferred because your routine colonoscopy was not quite four months prior. To that end, I also felt strange when the nurse/assistant questioned why I had a coloscopy. Ummm, cuz I'm 50! Makes me think every donor over 50 in there is lying. Secondly, the place attracts some degenerates, for sure. I mean, yes I understand everyone who comes needs the money, myself included. But donors should just know it's not always going to be a pleasant experience with some of the others. One gangsta looking dude and his girlfriend decided it was appropriate to play video with audio on their phone, no earbuds. How arrogant, rude, and annoying for those around them. Not that the offenders care. So I figure I'll play some tunes to cover up the distracting, irritating sound of their lame speakerphone. Guess who was asked to turn off the phone volume? Yup, ME! By the assistant at the desk in the waiting room. So I said, "Sure but can we make that a rule for everyone?" That's when gangsta guy is all, "What the f&#k is wrong with you?!" The administrator said she could hear my phone and I said I could hear his and was just trying to cover the noise so I could relax for the three hour wait (this is no Gilligan's Island). And I asked, "So I can watch TV on my phone?" She said yes but "only if the volume is down enough as to not bother others." Ummm... HELLO! I was being bothered by the sound of others, lmao. Ridiculous. When I said, "I'm just trying to drown out the sound," the psycho dude said, "You should drown yourself out!". Aww, a five year old child wants his witty retort back, geezer. Point being, just make a rule for EVERYONE to adhere to that prohibits all from annoying others in the waiting room via cell phone media use. So dumb and easily avoidable. I asked some of the people in the chairs, "what is going on, why are guys sitting in the chairs when all those beds are empty." The lady responded, "Octapharma Plasma Administration will not hire anymore staff, and will not authorize/approve overtime so they are short staffed by about 8 employees /lobotomists per shift." Once again, Octapharma Plasma which is based in Europe. Have US citizens sit / donors wait for 3 hours and 45 minutes to make a donation. This is unheard of. People are struggling to purchase food, and you are making the donors wait for close to four hours and then exchanging the plasma for a mere $40.00? Octapharma Plasma charges the pharmaceutical companies for one dose of IVIG treatment in the US about $9,720. Most patients undergo 4 to 5 infusions monthly for a cost of approximately $415796* $41,796 Octapharma Plasma cant hire employees or pay a donor at least $100.00 per donation. I will make sure this is brought to someone's attention immediately. These practices should not be allowed in the United States. 6. Once you are in the room where the donation process happens, you cannot have any electronics, no phones, no ipod touch, no ipads, no laptops, and no dvd players. Cangene on the other hand allows you to have headphones on but if you are to talk on the phone, make it quick then hang up. Yes there are about 5 large screen plasma/lcd tvs for you to watch while you are laying on the bed, but there are a lot of movies that play that i don't care for. 7. When your donation process is complete, my goodness let me tell you that it's always so busy in there that you sometimes have to wait for someone to come over and unhook you. I once had to wait as long as 15 minutes because people just raise their hands when they finish and so there's no good way of keeping track who was really next, it's like a fight to have someone to come over and hook you up. Can you imagine how it feels when you know that you are done but yet you have to wait ages it seeems like for someone to come over and unhook you, wrap you and and let you go? Cangene on the other hand has a different kind of machine which beeps and beeps till someone comes over to turn it off then start to unhook you. The beeps from the machine cause a sense of urgency from the employees at cangene unlike octapharma because you get unhooked in a matter of a minute. You can raise your hand at octapharma but who's to say who is looking or how many other people have been waiting before you? 8. When it's time to get your arm wrapped up, they are taping your arm up with the same gauze that they gave you when you first got hooked up. They don't even wipe the iodine with rubbing alcohol after removing the needle, on the other hand cangene will and they will also give you a new fresh gauze before taping your arm up. read more

I have been donating here several months now, and I enjoy it everytime. When I first started I had to have a physical. The nurse that helped me was very kind, professional, and funny. That in itself made my experience worth it. Now everytime I am there I say hi to the nurse and she says hi back (and actually means it). The front staff is also kind, there are some that are not as talkative as others but they now all know my name and I know most of theres. When you get into the backroom, it is cold so bring a sweatshirt, but this is where the plasma will be drawn. Most of the phlebs there are good. But my favorites are Mario, Paul, and Crystal. If they are busy you will have to wait a while so be prepaired. Dont plan to do anything that day except the donation. This place is very very busy, but the time goes by fast because there is always a movie playing. Now i must say that if you get offended by poor language then cover your ears, alot of the donors are "trashy". I must say they know how to work the welfare system. Money from the government and money from plasma donation, just enough to buy your drug (which i think most of them do). They are not high class at all, but the emplyees are really good and know how to deal with the lower class. I give them a lot of credit becuase I know I could not do it!!! You will see some doners yelling at the staff if they failed their vitals of if they didnt "like" the way they were stuck!!! This place is pretty lit lately. The bonuses have been hella good and they got all these hot & sweet new chicks working here (Katy's still and always will be my favorite no matter what). I don't know why people are complaining. They've tried everything with the bathrooms believe me. It's not like they can come in and watch us do our thing. I'd rather have a little graffiti on the wall than some filipina chick in scrubs standing over my shoulder as I'm trying to pee. Then again that doesn't sound too bad, maybe they could try it..but still I think people are too hard on this place.The atmosphere is cool af. Their staff all work well together and seem to be tighter than a Jewish wallet. Even the security guards are chill and aren't trying to mad dog everyone or any of that. It's kinda like a strip club. Hot women all around, money and fluids being exchanged...what more could you want? Just to be clear when I say hot women I'm talking about the workers not the she-beasts that donate here. I'm sure they're lovely ladies, just not my cup of tea. Another thing that's cool about this spot is it's a really multi racial crowd (staff and donors) so you have blacks, whites, Latinos and Asians all chopping it up and getting along right there like it should be. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the service I have received at your facility. After returning as a donor, I provided the required protein sample last month. Despite passing the test during my visit this past Sunday, I was informed that I cannot donate until a doctor releases my account. I have attempted to follow up yesterday and today, but my account remains locked. Furthermore, the communication process has been incredibly frustrating: - Phone Support: It is nearly impossible to reach anyone after 3:00 p.m. PST. I was informed that because your service center is on the East Coast, assistance is unavailable later in the day.- The Portal: I am repeatedly told to check the portal, but it inaccurately states that my results are still processing; "wrong information; not updated"- Staffing: I was told I must wait 5-7 business days for a doctor who is not on-site every day. It is surprising that no other staff members are authorized to release accounts for donors who have already cleared their screenings. At this point, I feel that my time and contributions as a donor are not valued. If this matter cannot be resolved immediately, I will be taking my donations to another center, such as BioLife or Grifols, where the process and customer service may be more efficient. read more

This place pays by weight. I weigh just under 150 pounds so I get $15/donation instead of $30/donation. It takes me 2 hours to do the weekly health survey, get my blood sugar approved, have my platelets removed and have my arm bandaged. That means I get paid about $7.50/hr or less than the minimum wage in half of the 50 states. I shortly thought of suing octopharma over discriminative pay based on body size. They pay you less because of your body shape. This company's payment is horribly low. A maximum of $120/mo is barely an 8th of rent and I can't live on that amount. Don't donate here. Google plasma donations in my area and find a different company to donate to. PS: I won't remove this review until they raise the base payment to $30/donation for people weighing 0 - 149 lbs.
