There are really so many great dance studios in Rochester- so why do I choose Odasz for my child? What is it about Odasz that made it win YAGP Outstanding School this year (and 8 times before that!)? In my mind there are so many reasons but I'm going to try to narrow it down to my top 3. My kid LOVES to dance. She would (in fact) most likely be happy at any studio because she just loves it so much. But she is also very "type A" and thrives on seeing improvement- and that is exactly what you will get if you send your dancer to train at Odasz. Their knowledge and technical training is truly top-notch and being a smaller studio the teachers have the ability to provide such personalized attention and corrections. It also brings me to my next favorite thing which is their focus on strength and flexibility. If you look at the Odasz class schedule compared to other top studios in the area you will notice that there is much more time allotted to conditioning at Odasz. As a former collegiate student-athlete this was something I noticed right away! Odasz trains their dancers like the athletes they are! This is a huge reason for my dancer's dramatic improvement but is also important to me because it not only prevents injuries in the short term but also teaches them skills to remain healthy and strong for the rest of their lives! Finally, the overall atmosphere Jessica & Andrea have created is truly one of a loving, supportive family. The teachers challenge the girls to not only be the best dancers they can be, but also the best teammates and friends. There are some ballet studios who put so much focus on just the few most naturally talented. Odasz Dance Theatre truly changed my perspective on dance and reminded me why I love it so much. I spent a week there last summer, and I have never experienced so much personal growth in such a short amount of time. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and inspiring, and the dancers around me constantly pushed me to be my best while creating such a positive atmosphere. What stood out most was how healthy, encouraging, and uplifting the environment was. Everyone genuinely wanted to see each other succeed, which made it so easy to learn, grow, and gain confidence. Even though it was only a week, the impact it had on me has lasted far beyond that experience. Not to mention the teacher, who both have made such an impact on my life. So personal and genuinely want the best for you. I was pushed so much in that one week and love that place with my entire heart. I can assure anyone who is thinking about trying out this studio that you will feel welcome and apart of there family instintly. But also see an unbelievable amount of progres.I still think about my time at Odasz Dance Theatre every day and wish I could go back sooner. If i lived in Rochester i would train here everyday with no doubt. The inspiration, training, and memories I gained there continue to motivate me to work harder and keep pursuing my goals. The contemporary is good. You will learn a movement quality you won't ever loose. But sadly this is not a healthy environment. Hearing that...just please dont take the risk! This is a very push and pull environment. Involving lots of praise and reassurance that feels as if was sometimes used to keep students and parents invested, especially new dancers who have not had outside experience. The ballet instruction is focused less on technical details and building strong fundamentals compared to many other programs here in Rochester. For the sake of their growth, education, saftey and wellbeing take their talent to a professional Dance school, especially for ballet. Where they can learn and flourish in their passions of dance and feel appreciated for the art they are creating in the making. I am being generous with this review. I just don't want anyone to take the risk of going through what some of the dancers who have trained here in the past have gone through. read more

Odasz Dance Theater is one of the top dance training facilities in the United States hands down. Jessica and Andrea love each and every student, they listen and take them under their wing always thinking about the students best interest. Their coaching is the best and they build students confidence more than I have ever witnessed from any other instructors. My daughter never stops talking about how much she adores Jessica and Andrea and can't get enough of the classes and training they offer. By far the best classical training in Rochester NY. This is a serious studio for serious dancers willing to put in the work. They advance based on skill and not age, and if you have little one they will not be bored. They will be challenged and trained to be dancers. Excellent instruction in Ballet, Contemporary, and Acro with stretch and strength classes to develop the needed muscles. Consistently places well in YAGP and their students get accepted to top summer intensives. Would recommend to anyone looking for classical dance. Odasz Dance is the most professional studio I have ever been involved with. Their staff are PHENOMENAL and truly care about their dancers. The BEST dance instruction in Rochester by far. They win everything at competitions and put on really great performances. Real dance training- not dolly dinkle at all. Students go to Ailey, River North, Joffrey, ABT etc. on scholarship in the summers. They've held their own with Ellison and Rock School at YAGP. Hidden gem of Rochester. Love the teachers. read more
