Pitting of dining room window from rebar cutting during concrete removal.

I had Darren remove the concrete in our backyard and replace it with new concrete. The previous contractor did not properly slope the concrete patio and my drainage was not good. Darren did a good job of communicating with me during the bid and afterwards. The quality of the concrete work was good. During the removal of the existing concrete his crews had to cut the rebar that was in the concrete and the sparks from cutting the rebar imbedded into our windows in our dining room. I noticed this after the job was done. When I brought it to Darren's attention, he didn't do anything about it and joked like I was making some big deal over nothing. Cost to replace the window was $750. Total cost of job was about $8,000. Their work is good, except when it comes to damage to your house from careless work. Watchout for damage as the job progresses and look closely for any damage prior to paying.

I had a badly cracked driveway and was in need of replacing it. I had 2 previous quotes that were so high they scared me. When a neighbor a few doors down was having a new colored driveway done I walked down and asked if Odell could give me a quote. The very next day Darren Odell came by at the agreed on time. He was very professional and listened to all my concerns and addressed them all. That evening he sent his quote which was very competitive. His quote included all my requirements. I called him the next day and Darren said he could start the very next week. Demo went well. The prep went very well and they answered all my questions as they were working. They framed up the driveway and did a great job assembling the rebar properly. All prepped to pour and the day of the pour I fell and had to go to the hospital so I missed that but all went well and it looks outstanding. During our discussions I asked about resealing my patio counter tops and guess what! Darren says we do that also! We agreed on a small change order and they came out great. I was very impressed by Odell and the work they did for me. My highest rating of 5 stars! Highly recommended! See photos

Roman Concrete did an exceptional job replacing and extending our driveway…read more We truly appreciated the owner, Raul, for his professionalism and patience. He took the time to explain every detail, visited our home twice, and remained flexible when we decided to adjust the extension area. The crew was efficient, friendly, and equipped with impressive machinery. We were particularly struck by the value offered; Roman Concrete was the only company to provide 3500 PSI concrete while maintaining a very competitive price. Their attention to detail was outstanding--from the thorough cleanup to the fact that two team members stayed for four hours just to ensure the concrete dried undisturbed. My husband and I highly recommend Roman Concrete. The final result is beautiful, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

DO NOT HIRE ROMAN CONCRETE / RAUL…read more Extremely disappointing experience with a large residential decorative/sandwash concrete project. The finished concrete has major inconsistencies in appearance. Within a relatively short time after installation, the concrete also developed a gritty/friable surface, ongoing shedding of sand and small particles, and areas where aggregate appears to be loosening. I have now had to obtain the ready-mix batch tickets, consult concrete professionals, and arrange an independent petrographic examination to determine why new concrete is deteriorating. After reviewing the batch tickets, I also discovered that the concrete mix used did not follow Top-Cast's published mix-design guidance for this type of finish. To make matters worse, Roman also sent a preliminary lien notice involving my neighbor's property, which created an entirely separate issue that never should have involved my neighbor. I spent a significant amount of money on this project and should not be dealing with uneven workmanship, deteriorating concrete, forensic testing, and lien-related problems afterward. I would absolutely not hire this company again. Steer clear. _________________________________________________________________________ Responding to Roman Concrete / Raul Comment 9/14/26 - Raul - The appearance issue was present at job completion. I wrote the review because you asked me to and that you acknowledged the issue and would replace the affected. It is now 3 months later and you still have not done so. The remaining issues were also brought up at this time. You said it is normal and give it a month. After a month the problem persisted. Then you said give it another month. Then you said give it a year. *See sand in joint picture in my review. This was widespread through all concrete and was taken 2.5 months after completion. - Raul - You have returned to the property and done nothing. The affected panel is not replaced and I didn't decline. THIS IS A LIE as you are worried about your business review. You stated the concrete may not match and I said it has to match. You said it may cause cracking and I said don't crack it. Sealing the concrete is a quick fix that I will not accept. I was forced to determine the causes as you would just say "I truly dont know what happened". It is no longer speculation and a legal case is building. The concrete testing professional to independently evaluate you mention was my idea. You stated it is too expensive to do. I had to offer to split the bill with you just get it done. - Raul - You used a mix that was a against Top-Casts "Placing and Finishing Guidelines". The Guidelines are there for a reason. Yes it states 60/40 fine to coarse aggregate. The mix you used was 71/29 fine to coarse aggregate which means the mix contains nearly 20% more sand then recommended in their guidelines. Additionally, their guidelines state a 3/4 coarse aggregate to use. You used 3/8" coarse aggregate. You really didn't follow any guidelines. I think following guidelines is important. Not sure what everyone else thinks. This is also important as now my problem is EXCESS SAND shedding off the surface 3 months later. You used an overly sand heavy mix that was outside their guidelines in both sand to aggregate ratio and aggregate size. It doesn't matter who you order your concrete from (i.e. Robertsons). It is not there problem. You could have ordered from anywhere and requested the correct mix design. The rebar installation was also not quality. I did not bring this up before but since you did I will. You had rebar with no dobies. Rebar without dobies is pointless. I requested dobies. Additionally, your team drove the heavy equipment right over the expansive side yard rebar and smashed it straight into the ground. It was never fixed. It is now pointless. I should have said something at the time but we were already having issues over roadbase compaction and concrete thickness so I got tired and let it go. Yes you are now paying for the concrete testing after you said you wouldnt and are now in a corner. My neighbors address is very different from mine. The prelim of my neighbors property was done on purpose. Robertsons was not paid for an extended period of time and the issue took forever to clear up. You have returned and done nothing. You have been trying your best to get out of it.

Shoutout to Amosa, his brother, and the entire crew for doing an amazing job on my driveway…read moreextension! They arrived on a next day request. They showed up on time, were very friendly and professional, and did an excellent job from start to finish. Their pricing was very honest and reasonable, and they left the area clean when they were finished. The work turned out great, and even my neighbors complimented the job and are interested in hiring them for their own projects. That says a lot about the quality of their work. I'm definitely looking forward to hiring Amosa and his crew again for future concrete projects. Highly recommend them.

The floors in the backyard were downright gross with mold and sand. We were however on a pretty tight time crunch with the new tenants scheduled to move in within the next 2 weeks. Originally we had contacted several places which included AM Masonry & Concrete. Right away we got a response from Amosa. After hearing about our strict timeline he was able to swing by the very next morning to take a look at what we needed done. Out of all the places we contacted, Amosa responded to us the fastest with the most detailed estimate . Other companies took much longer to get back to us. We didn't have to wait an entire day or more for a response. His responsiveness and punctuality was only a few reasons why we chose to go with him. From the get go he went above and beyond to make sure we had what we wanted . We ended up having him do a top cast finishing with diamond cuts control joints . He arrived on time every single day, left the work area clean each day , and even finished ahead of schedule. The new floors look absolutely amazing . We will definitely be contacting AM Masonry & Concrete in the future!

Unfortunately, my experience was one of the most stressful home improvement projects I have ever undertaken. The project involved drainage improvements, catch basins, pavers, and foundation waterproofing. Throughout the project, I felt that I had to closely monitor the work daily to ensure that items discussed and included in the contract were actually completed. For example, catch basin baskets that contractually were included in the scope were ultimately not installed, and I was not informed of this change until I specifically asked about them near the end of the project. Another example occurred when the project was presented to me as complete even though the pavers had not yet been compacted and polymeric sand had not been installed. Those items were completed only after I questioned them, reinforcing my feeling that I needed to closely monitor the work to ensure the agreed-upon scope was fully carried out. Another concern arose when Edgar agreed to remove an existing fascia board as part of the project. Instead of first removing the fasteners, a member of his crew pried the fascia board off, causing damage to the underlying roof structure. The damage was significant enough that I later had to hire another contractor and spend thousands of dollars to properly repair it. Communication was the biggest issue. Estimates, responses, and follow-up were consistently late, and I often had to reach out multiple times just to get a reply. Now that the project is complete, I have called and texted multiple times for promised waterproofing pictures. Despite continuing promises, I have not received anything. The lack of communication, the need for constant oversight, the unresolved concerns about workmanship, and the failure to provide promised documentation made this a very stressful and disappointing experience. I understand that no project is perfect, but good contractors stand behind their work and communicate with their customers after the job is finished. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.

They finished the project within a day. We plan to use them again for a future project. As one ages, it becomes more important to find the right person for the job and to establish a relationship with that person in case you need him/her for a future project. This holds true for any type of service technician...be it a plumber, electrician, hvac tech, appliance repair tech, etc. You want to have a go-to person. Edgar is our go-to for drainage and concrete issues/projects. We had another quote from a different company that was relatively cheaper. We opted for Edgar because we felt comfortable with his knowledge and skills from our consultation with him, that he will provide the proper solution(s) to our needs. The prior company proposal seemed less comprehensive in meeting our needs. With the other company, it seemed we were given salesmen tactics and it felt that customer service was lacking. Not with Edgar. He responds back via our texts or phone calls..maybe not right away but that is understandable. ..he's busy and likely on job sites..but when he responds back, it's always communicative. If you see people who service you as extended family members who are here to help your needs and appreciate the fact that you can confidently pass a project over to someone else instead of handling it on your own..and this review resonates with you..then just go with Edgar and crew..you're welcome...lol
