I took a late summer ride over the Cascades, up Hwy. 97 and turned back toward the Cascades to one of its alpine lakes, Odell, for lunch. The fish and chips were good, though there wasn't the usual coleslaw. The batter was very crispy but the fries were not, good but very thin and limp--not like the ones shown in previous reviews. Service was good and friendly. It was cool so I made the mistake of sitting on one of the hard, flat and rustic wooden chairs inside--not comforable.

What a great surprise this place was! After hiking in the snow to Crescent Lake, we were hungry for lunch. The restaurant is small and cozy. Snow covered up half the windows, which added to the ambiance. We got burgers and a grilled chicken sandwich. Hand-formed burgers and hand-cut french fries. The prices were good too! What a gem in the middle of nowhere!

Chicken wrap with homemade fries! Bacon Cheeseburger with fries! The stuffed baked potato great too!

A hidden gem located in the high desert Oregon cascade mountains! Gorgeous woodwork at a lake front lodge restaurant! It's a very short 2 minute paved drive off the main highway tucked in huge old trees! Cool little creek, lakeside campground, cabins, boat docks, and a historic wooden lodge surprises you upon arrival! The food is homemade grandma style! I had the lasagna twice, couple burgers, and nearly everything on the breakfast menu! I wiped my lasagna plate off completely with the garlic cheese bread! Super good! The staff is super nice! It's a slower pace, designed for low stress. New owners are very friendly! They care about service and treating people like they are loved. Great vibe and energy there while staring at the lake! Hard to imagine how people travelled there in the 1920's to goof around on Odell Lake! Highly recommend checking this place out if traveling across the cascades!

    Amazing steak with Oregon mushrooms!!

Great service and out of this world food!! Hot and cooked to perfection!! This is a bucket list must do! They are open year round!

Decided to grab a bite to eat after a long Camping trip and Odell Lake resort restaurant was the closest. The food was delicious. I had a chicken sandwich on a croissant and my husband had a BLT on sourdough. We also had a delicious homemade soup with homemade sweet corn bread that was so yummy! The ambiance was nice and quiet with a view of the lake. The server was super quick and polite.

Beautiful view with tasty food and friendly service. Odell burger can rival any gastro burger - handmade patty and locally smoked bacon. Chicken and Swiss sandwich had fresh ciabatta bread. Kids menu had plenty to choose from. Dog friendly outdoor seating with a view of the lake. Pause for longer and rent a paddle board or go fishing.

I've heard about Odell Lake for years and usually only catch a glimpse of it from the car on our annual drive from Portland to Tahoe. This time we decided to stop at the lodge for lunch and enjoy the scenery. The restaurant is a quaint spot with gorgeous views of the lake and mountains. It is a pine-a-palooza with gorgeous pine covered walls, tables and carved chairs. There is also a large patio with seating overlooking the lake. However, beware of mosquitos. The menu is basic with a focus on burgers, sandwiches and salads, but most of our meals were well made. I enjoyed my chef salad and my husband's Odell burger (teriyaki sauce, pineapple) was very good, as was the kids' burger. The nachos were overdone so I would make a different choice next time. Strawberry lemonade was refreshing and service was very friendly. Things don't happen quickly here so just kick back and relax. It feels like a small family run operation, mostly catering to guests of the lodge. Many of the other diners appeared to be regulars and probably work or play in the area so it felt like you were eating in someone's home. After placing our orders, my husband and youngest headed down to the marina to chat up the fisherman and see what was biting. There is also a simple play structure just outside so the kids can romp and play before you head back on the highway. There are limited dining options on the road between Crater Lake and Eugene and this probably has the best view. It was an absolutely beautiful spot to stop, eat and relax when you are on the road.

Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. We had the Steak Tartare, the Chef's Board, the Blackend Crabcake, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Bone-in Pork Chop. We each got the cheesecake for desert and split the other dishes. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. While all the dishes were vvery good, the standouts to me were the steak Tartare, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Cheesecake.

It was kinda late as we were at an evening conference event, and after a short wait, we were seated! Crowded and late is usually a good sign. We ordered some great cocktails to start and a Cajun BBQ Shrimp Appetizer. The cocktails were great and unique, but the BBQ Shrimp was amazing. It's not like being in New Orleans, but it's pretty close! And you better believe that plate went back to the kitchen spotless!!! That BBQ sauce was bomb, which means good apparently. For some reason, we switched out waitresses halfway through, which made tipping awkward. However, each was funny and friendly in different ways. That's always a plus when you've been on the road for 10 days or so and are feeling the wear and tear on travel and bougie food. For Entree's, he ordered a salad which looked amazing, and I ordered the blackened redfish and swapped the sides for fries and carrots. The fries were absolutely amazing, as was the redfish. So good... I wish the carrots were mushier (more mushy?). That's a personal preference. Waitress #2 highly recommended the carrot cake and assured us she wouldn't pass judgment on two dudes sharing dessert. I'm glad she did as it was one of the lightest and best carrot cakes I've ever had. And the carrots WERE mushy here. Then she had the entire kitchen staff come out and laugh at us for sharing (ok, she didn't, but that would have been classic). I enjoyed my time in Bend and this place would be on my list for a repeat visit if I'm ever here again. Loved it!

We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

We each ordered the TKB Burger - 2 with sidewinder fries and one with Pomme Frites. Our server was amazing - super attentive and knowledgeable. My son was impressed that she took our order without writing it down. Hahaha. We got the Fried Calamari and it was AMAAAAAAAZING. The aioli was delicious also. The Brussels sprouts were good, but a little more cooked (and soft) than I normally like. An added bonus was the candied walnuts - I haven't had that before! The burgers came out and the sidewinder fries were not the curly fries we were thinking, so my so traded me. The Pomme Frites were perfectly cooked!! I meant to order my burger with a lettuce wrap, but I forgot. The brioche buns were delicious. The burgers were a little messy, but tasty. My daughter and I cut ours to make them more manageable but my son didn't and his cheese basically ran right off the burger. He didn't mind because he doesn't normally order cheese anyway. We were all stuffed so we didn't even order any dessert. The restaurant was buzzing and it gave off a very nice vibe. We probably won't be back. The pricing was a little out of our normal dinner range, but it was a special occasion. Aside from the fried calamari, we weren't really impressed with the food. Our server was amazing, though!!
