I took a late summer ride over the Cascades, up Hwy. 97 and turned back toward the Cascades to one of its alpine lakes, Odell, for lunch. The fish and chips were good, though there wasn't the usual coleslaw. The batter was very crispy but the fries were not, good but very thin and limp--not like the ones shown in previous reviews. Service was good and friendly. It was cool so I made the mistake of sitting on one of the hard, flat and rustic wooden chairs inside--not comforable. read more

What a great surprise this place was! After hiking in the snow to Crescent Lake, we were hungry for lunch. The restaurant is small and cozy. A hidden gem located in the high desert Oregon cascade mountains! Gorgeous woodwork at a lake front lodge restaurant! It's a very short 2 minute paved drive off the main highway tucked in huge old trees! Cool little creek, lakeside campground, cabins, boat docks, and a historic wooden lodge surprises you upon arrival! The food is homemade grandma style! I had the lasagna twice, couple burgers, and nearly everything on the breakfast menu! I wiped my lasagna plate off completely with the garlic cheese bread! Super good! The staff is super nice! It's a slower pace, designed for low stress. New owners are very friendly! They care about service and treating people like they are loved. Great vibe and energy there while staring at the lake! Hard to imagine how people travelled there in the 1920's to goof around on Odell Lake! Highly recommend checking this place out if traveling across the cascades! read more

The food is DELICIOUS!!! Some of the best lasagna, salmon, veggie medley, chicken & corn soup we have ever had! The cornbread was out of this world!!! I hope it gets put on the menu! I've heard about Odell Lake for years and usually only catch a glimpse of it from the car on our annual drive from Portland to Tahoe. This time we decided to stop at the lodge for lunch and enjoy the scenery. The restaurant is a quaint spot with gorgeous views of the lake and mountains. It is a pine-a-palooza with gorgeous pine covered walls, tables and carved chairs. There is also a large patio with seating overlooking the lake. However, beware of mosquitos. The menu is basic with a focus on burgers, sandwiches and salads, but most of our meals were well made. I enjoyed my chef salad and my husband's Odell burger (teriyaki sauce, pineapple) was very good, as was the kids' burger. The nachos were overdone so I would make a different choice next time. Strawberry lemonade was refreshing and service was very friendly. Things don't happen quickly here so just kick back and relax. It feels like a small family run operation, mostly catering to guests of the lodge. Many of the other diners appeared to be regulars and probably work or play in the area so it felt like you were eating in someone's home. After placing our orders, my husband and youngest headed down to the marina to chat up the fisherman and see what was biting. There is also a simple play structure just outside so the kids can romp and play before you head back on the highway. There are limited dining options on the road between Crater Lake and Eugene and this probably has the best view. It was an absolutely beautiful spot to stop, eat and relax when you are on the road. read more

Camped in the campground in 13 inches of snow! Came over for breakfast in the morning and was not disappointed. Our waiter was very attentive, kept our coffees full, and even helped entertain our grumpy two year old who's since decided he hates snow. My family and I stayed here over the wekend and I missed that this was for their restaurant untl I got home- but that place was cool too. We really enjoyed our cabin- having stayed at some nasty places in Orgeon with my dad- this was by far the best for a lakeside place- the cabin was bright, clean and well stocked with towels and bedding. the lodge where the restaurant is located is cool too- you buy beers out of an antique cooler for like 2.75 and hang out in front of a giant fireplace. There are also neat little lodge suites- if you wanted a mingling experience you could stay here a week and hang in front of the giant fireplace, eat at the retsaurant and meet some characters! read more

The cabin we stayed in, was a 2 bedroom with a very nice kitchen, though we didn't use the kitchen. The meals were provided for our church group. Surprise, surprise, surprise! Yep, a gas station attendant referred us to this place for lunch. We were sure that she was family, and so we didn't expect much but hey, it was off the highway and we didn't want to eat at Manley's or KJ's. Well, wow! We drove a short distance off the highway and found a lovely little lodge with a restaurant, and it has a stunning view! The weather was nice enough for us to eat outside, and despite the disappointing menu, we were loving the view so really weren't too worried about what would show up on our plates as long as it didn't make us sick. As far as I'm concerned they really should invest in new menus and descriptions because the food was actually good. My Dad's Caesar Salad with Chicken Breast was super big and very tasty. My Mom opted for a bowl of soup, it sounded strange but it was also very good, kinda like a super fresh vegetable soup with sausage in it. It was served with a mini loaf of fresh baked bread. I ordered the Chicken Breast Sandwich, and it too was well prepared and tasty. For dessert my folks shared a Marionberry Crumble ala Mode, we had seen a few go by to other tables. I never got a bite because before I knew it, poof! It had disappeared. I plan to return and look forward experiencing other seasons at this little piece of heaven. read more

Have eaten here on several occasions, each time hoping it will have improved. So far, it hasn't. Our party most recently ordered breakfast, first customers of the day. Cold food nearly all around, & just not tasty at all. They serve espresso drinks & those were subpar. Should have said something but hardly seemed worth it to complain. Our "server" was pleasant enough but was obviously way out of his comfort zone. This is a beautiful lake & has a built-in customer base with resort guests & visitors. The restaurant has a lovely view. Maybe I'm just missing the really great menu items? Will keep trying, as options are quite limited in the area. read more

During the summer, me and my dad went on a fishing trip at Odell Lake, using a guide. It was an amazing trip and I had so much fun! It's absolutely gorgeous up there! After fishing, we stopped in at the restaurant and had burgers and they were awesome! This place is sweet, and I know anyone that comes will love it... the only bad thing I could find (in my opinion) was the lack of cell service... which can be both a good and bad thing! read more

I remember the first time my grandparents took us to Odell Lake Resort, back in 1979 or 1980. We stopped in at the Lodge first and, I can tell you, it still holds that same magic as it did when I was a teenager. The lake holds possibility - every grab is a potential state record lake trout - at least until you get it to the boat, but what sets Odell Lake Resort apart, in my mind, is the people. We stopped in last fall after fishing, to soothe our tired bodies with dinner and drink. Owner Jon Ditgen waited on us and took the time to talk. Great food. If you are looking for a place to spend a magical Thanksgiving, this is it! We were in Eugene for the holiday with no family and no dinner to attend. We decided to drive up to Odell lake and try the lodge. We arrived early to play in the snow. There are several nordic ski trails. The lodge also rents skis and boots. The snow was falling, the lake was sparkling, and the fireplace room was warm and cozy with books and board games. Appetizers were served at 1:30. Dinner was served at 2:00. The food was all from scratch and delicious. Dessert was a selection of fresh pies. After a surprise appearance by Sasquatch, there was plenty of time to drive home safely before dark. read more
