We stopped in when we were spending the afternoon exploring the River Arts District. I was actually surprised because Yelp said it was closed on Mondays, but we walked past and all the doors were open! So we went in to look and peruse. There were really cool pottery and sculpture things to see and buy. The gallery surrounds what appears to be a studio area, and there are small rooms/booths for the different artists, inviting you in to see more of their work. The only negative was how crazy hot it was! I found out a little later that many of the buildings and studios in the area don't have A/C, but whew! It was a waaaarm day and man, I just really wanted a cool breeze! That said, if you are in the area and you like pottery and arty stuff, this gallery should definitely be on your to-see list! read more

Such an amazing and inspiring experience. You cannot visit this open art studio and not leave without some piece of art in your hand. The River Arts District has scores of interesting art and crafts studios and galleries. My favorite is Odyssey Co-op Gallery and indeed the entire Odyssey "complex." This co-op gallery displays the pottery and other ceramic work, mostly juried I believe but in some cases by artists that were "grandfathered" in, by local artists. The gallery has rotating displays, so new and different work is on display regularly. A plus is that besides the Odyssey Gallery itself, in a sunlit and airy space, you can also visit the numerous studio and student spaces in the Odyssey center on Clingman Avenue. There are some real bargains in first-rate art and functional pottery direct from the potters. There's considerable street parking on both sides of Clingman Ave. near the Gallery and studio entrances, so you don't need to hike a long way. Odyssey Gallery of Ceramic art makes me believe in creativity. I mean, there are so many different ways to use clay. Odyssey Gallery has such a variety of ceramic artists. Sculpture, pottery, painting. The gallery has a group of 24 unique artists, each with their own eyes, hands and talent that make for a meaningful experience. It's also neat to watch the artists at work. I highly recommend visiting. read more

This is a great spot located in the River Arts district of Asheville. I was visiting a friend and she specifically brought me to this gallery; which is one of her favorites. I picked up a beautiful Laura Peery mug that will be a perfect Christmas gift for a good friend. They had some beautiful pieces and if I was not flying the next day and afraid they would get broken in transit I would have picked up more pieces. This is a really great studio in the River Arts District of Asheville. I went to the Ready Set Throw class where in 2 hours the resident artists teach you how to use clay on a wheel to create a bowl, vase or whatever you can fumble to make on your first attempt. The instructors, Cayce and Kelsy, were friendly, helpful and funny! They walk you through the creative process and will salvage your work if you totally screw it up. A great experience for anyone visiting the area or looking for a different type of fun evening. You can also browse the incredible works of the artists and purchase items to support their work. read more

This should be your first stop on your tour of the River District! Well, maybe your FIRST stop should be lunch or coffee at Clingman Cafe on the corner of the block. Then peek in to see the colorful Jonas Gerard and his work nextdoor and then the next door will be Odyssey Gallery and Studio. As you enter, the Gallery to your left often has work by noted artists from across the country who teach workshops at Odyssey. Then straight ahead you will find a working studio and community of artists who display and sell their work. Nowhere in the River District will you find the variety of styles and prices that you do at Odyssey. Either the person in the office or anyone working at the tables can help you. Do not be put off by the fact that people are working. Ask questions! Everyone is there to help you. read more
