What a fun shop! My eyes had so much to take in, from art prints, sculptures, cards, jewelry, glassware and more. I'm so glad that we stopped in this store during our trip to Asheville. Horse & Hero also seemed to carry local artists -- definitely something to love. I ended up buying a Game of Thrones-themed glass to give to my husband. It was moderately-priced; I couldn't pass it up! I also loved how the items in this shop keep you on your toes. One second you're looking at a beautiful print that would look good in your living room. And the next, you glance up to see mini sculptures made to look like severed fingers. There is joy to this shop. It's easy to see the shop owner has fun curating the wares. When I come back to Asheville, I definitely want to come back here.

We popped in here to see what kind of local art Asheville had to offer. Horse & Hero doesn't disappoint! There's something here for all tastes! The artists showcased here were all so talented and I had to stop myself from blowing my tourist budget. We grabbed a print, some magnets, and some stickers. The man who I believe was the owner caught that it was our honeymoon and he hooked us up with some stickers, he was so sweet! This place was so cool and introduced me to some great artists. I can't wait to hang my piece and we are in love with our sticker souvenirs!

Really cool shop with interesting, affordable art, prints, and t-shirts.

One of my favorite spots here. Hip and eclectic local art in a convenient downtown spot, and super friendly owner and staff. I love it.

Great art, polite progressive owner, and decent prices. I spent way too much, but I love art. I definitely plan on coming back. Cool place!

You can get here, but some portions of the Parkway may still be closed due to Hurricane Helene. The parking lot is part of the Mountain to Sea Trail, and you can get on it here. So if you want to go for a walk and stretch your legs or just be out in nature, you can go view a scenic overlook. The building was designed to blend in with nature. In the lobby when you enter, there are sometimes demonstrations of the crafts taking place. You can watch and talk with the artist. There are clean restrooms as well. There is a shop on the first level, and it is said to be the oldest craft shop in the country. The work is high quality, and features many different forms of art, from glass to wood to metal to textiles to paintings to jewelry. I do love it all, but most of it is too steep for my budget. If you fall in love with a specific artist, it is worth looking them up directly or checking independent regional shops to see if smaller, more affordable pieces from their collection are available elsewhere. There is a long ramp up to the galleries that show Southern Appalachian art. There are the permanent exhibits and then the pieces that rotate. There is also an exhibit about the Blue Ridge Parkway's history upstairs. Make sure you take the time to stroll through. Also look out the large windows at the views. Before you leave, check out the Blue Ridge Parkway information center and gift shop inside. This has unique items that I don't find at the Parkway's main gift shop, and these products fit my budget much better.
