All the windows in our house are Pella windows and all have blinds between the panes of glass, with the largest being our doorwall. If you own these blinds you know that Pella long ago stopped their support. Over the past 27 years I have typically made small repairs to the blinds. However, recently it was beyond my ability to fix one of our doorwall blinds. I contacted OEMBTG (best to communicate by email) and interacted with Jennifer. She responds promptly to emails and was a joy to deal with. She clearly explained the process, cost and timing. She was spot on and we timely received our refurbished blind back and it works perfectly. Note, it it can take approximately a month from start to finish to receive your blind back, but it is well worth the wait. I highly recommend OEMBTG. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH OEMBTG I just needed replacement string for a couple of my internal window shades and reached out to OEM blinds, as I've done in years past with absolutely no prior issues. Apparently OEM blinds closed in 2025 and was purchased by a former employee, Jennifer, who has renamed the business OEMBTG. After our first phone call I thought, OK she will help me get this done. She said she would send me the string and here we are ... the last 4 months could not have been a more disappointing and frustrating experience. I've left multiple messages and VM but she just continues to ignore and not respond to each and every one. The last time I called (this morning) to inquire, she hung up on me. As a self-employed business owner myself, I just can't understand how anyone would treat their clients and run a business this way. Jennifer has wasted my time and is a total looser. VULGAR and UNPROFESSIONAL. One of the strings broke on my Pella sliding door between-the-glass blind and simply needed to be re-strung (PHOTO 1). I was told by my Certified Pella repairman that OEM blinds is the only company in the U.S. that repairs Pella blinds. He also told me that since Curtis took over the business their service has plummeted. He warned me I would be taking a chance if I sent it to them for repair. Since I had no other option, I sent it to them. The Pella repairman was right. OEM sent my blind back in worse condition than when I sent it. Once my Pella repairman reinstalled the "repaired" blind, it was glaringly obvious to both of us that the repair had not been done correctly. The slats were all askew and somehow they managed to make the blind 5-6 inches shorter (PHOTO 2). I called OEM and talked to Curtis to voice my concerns. I texted Curtis "before" and "after" photos while we were on the phone to illustrate the difference between the blind I had sent them (PHOTO 1) and the blind they returned to me (PHOTO 2). The first thing he said to me was a statement filled with obscene vulgarities. (which were so bad, I can't repeat them online). It was all downhill from there. He stated that I had a 3-year warranty and if I wanted to send it back, he'd take a look at it. Warranty or not, why would I send it back for a second time (at considerable expense via FedEx) when they completely botched it so badly the first time? Curtis isn't worth the time of day. Avoid OEM blinds at all costs. I wouldn't trust this company to re-string a yo-yo. read more

I can't say strongly enough that you should not do business with this company. The are more than difficult to deal with, and they do not tell the truth. I sent three shades (don't use the word 'blinds' with their owner (Curtis I think...), it sets him off...) to them to (hopefully) get the fabric replaced with fabric that blocks more light in our spare bedroom. Curtis refused to offer even a general range of cost on the phone, so I spent $60 to securely pack a set of three shades and sent them off. They were working when I packed them myself, and had NEVER been disassembled. No one else touched them. I packed them in bubble wrap and put them in a rigid 3" plastic pipe to insure no damage could happen in shipping. When O.E.M Blinds received them they called and said they could not do what I wanted. I had my niece pick them up and send them back to me. What they, O.E.M. Blinds, packed was BROKEN by them, and they claim that I sent broken blinds to them and asked for them to give a repair price. THAT IS CATEGORICALLY UNTRUE. And they didn't even have the decency to send back all the parts they removed from the shades. And now the owner of the company, who is perhaps the most irascible person I have ever spoken with, says they can't repair them and won't even try. He told me to call Pella saying it is their problem since he got no money from me (he claims Pella buys all the blinds from him...I'll get to an executive at Pella to explain what their sourcing choice does to their loyal customers...). So far I am out well over $100 and struggling to find the parts to fix what O.E.M. Blinds broke. They should fess up and offer to get the parts to me, but refuse, claiming they can't. Finally though, Pella locally tells me they have the parts and will send me a quote. I wasted weeks trying to get O.E.M. Blinds to call me back. I will have a beer and settle down...but might just file a mechanic's lien to get them to pay up... read more

This company, recommended by Pella, recently replaced two between-the-pane shades on our Pella sliding glass door. The Pella installer immediately noted that one panel was defective: there were TWO sets of holes punched for the string that raises and lowers the shade, only ONE of which was correctly aligned and threaded. While the shade works with this alignment, some of the pleats have extra holes that are distracting and disappointing for a full-price product. OEM told us to send the shade back from California for a "free" replacement. However, the company spokesperson refused to pay a Pella service rep $150 to come out to remove the defective shade, and another $150 to install a replacement. We were told, "Shame on you!" for not having or knowing how to use the custom glass tools the Pella rep brought to do his job. A partial refund could have made us whole with those holes. Instead, we were offered a "free" replacement that would cost us $300 in Pella service charges. Worse, we were shamed as being defective ourselves. read more

I call them once every 2 weeks or so and have been told the same story, that they're waiting on fabric. Today they said they don't have the staff to get them done and that they are waiting on fabric. No update. No ETA. Curtis Smith is the owner, should be ashamed of himself. Worst service!!! For nine month have been dealing with them and 3 times have sent wrong size shades. Same exact wrong size shade every time. They have one of my originals I have the other so it is obvious that the size is wrong and doesn't fit between my Pella windows. Owner tells me I don't understand the pleat sizing. Look at the photos below and judge for yourself. I concur with the other reviews that they say they call back (we're home 95% of the time these days) but never get a call and their policy is to not leave a message so you don't know if they really call or not. OEM blinds was our supplier for 1 inch pleated privacy liner fabric until they have recently told us they are "closing our account" and not promising to replace thousands of dollars in defective fabric they sold us earlier this year. We were extremely patient though months of excuses and "reasons" why they couldn't make the new fabric. What started out as a "we'll ship you new stuff at our expense and make it good" once we get the machine fixed (and Covid closure ends), became a litany of excuses or reasons why they couldn't ship the new material for 2 more weeks, or next week, or Monday... stretching into months. Then they suddenly changed tone and we last got a screaming owner offering no assurances that they even have the good product available for exchange or will refund our money. All we want is our money back or replacement product that is actually what we ordered (not randomly sized pleated and creased material). Looks like we will be dropping off the defective material and hoping they have a change of heart and make things right, before we see them in court. Sad when a company won't stand behind their work or word and how they choose to treat other businesses or people. Beware of what this company says and GET THINGS IN WRITING! They promise the world on the phone or have a reason why the problem is someone else's to deal with - but our experience is that phone calls and E-mails aren't returned are promised when there is a problem to solve. read more

! encountered one of the rudest people in all my 73 years and I elected not to spar with him as a wise man knows all, only fools know everything and Curtis S. thinks he knows everything. We have several Pella Designer Windows with the blind between the glass. After several years of daily use, they began to fail one after the other. Unfortunately, I elected to send our blinds to OEM for repair. I was told by Curtis that "humidity" is the cause of the failures. Though I thought that odd as none of the bathroom blinds were the issue and the house has two separate control pieces of whole-house equipment to keep our humidity at an even (within 1.5% of ideal humidity) Later, I found out he was wrong but that is another story. After they were returned, some worked, some failed within a few day, others did not work, right out of the returned box. Initially, OEM allowed free returns, but even after being reworked they would not work and had to be returned again. Then, they started not to pay for returned blinds that did not work. Finally, I was told it was customer abuse that was causing the failures - How do you argue with that statement??? Disgusting, to say the least. To think a company would even suggest that, infuriated me, instead of looking at their own repair issues or possible causes to the failures. I elected not to deal with such an individual and accept my losses without requesting a refund. Not long after dealing with Curtis and OEM, I found a retired Pella installer who pointed out several of the problem within minutes of looking at the blinds that were supposedly repaired by OEM. * None were because of humidity. * Most of the repaired blinds were restrung wrong, the draw string did not travel through the the center hole, allowing for chaffing on the bling slat edge. * The very top slat has a guide clip to keep the draw sting centered through the hole within the slat and from coming into contact with the sharp metal edge of the slat. He pointed out, these plastic clips, after years of use (clips never changed by OEM) had become razor sharp, which in turn started cutting the new draw string or had worn a tiny slot to catch the draw string causing the blind, when retracted, to go up diagonally or not go up or down at all. Praise the Lord for this retired gentlemen and his knowledge of these blinds. Now, we purchase the materials (ladder string, draw string and plastic clips) he does all the labor and charges less than one hundred dollars per blind. I did get a chance to look at his basement workshop and was so impressed by the adjustable frame (he built himself) to work on nearly any size of designer blind by Pella. He has other frames for other manufactures but I was only interested in what he built for our particular blind. So a word to the wise. Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. read more

We sent 18 Pella between the glass blinds to have the failing cellular shades repaired. They initially told us the cost would be between $100 to $150 per shade. When they received the shades the told us they would give us an actual quote. Their quote was over $5,500 or $350 a shade. We said not thank you and asked to have the blinds shipped back to us. They said we needed to provide a shipping label which we did. We sent them a UPS shipping label and still have not received a UPD confirmation that it was shipped. OEM Blinds keeps saying that they put it in their UPS bin and it was shipped. It has been over a week and no blinds have been shipped or arrived at our address. It is only a two day ship from Michigan to Indiana. read more

Curtis is the owner of this "business". He is by far, the rudest condescending individual I have ever dealt with. From the very first minutes of the first phone conversation he was asking me questions like "do you know how to use a tape measure?", "can you convert to metric?"...mind you in a tone someone would use if talking to an idiot. When I asked about pricing and what determines/drives the cost the response was "I don't justify my pricing". Keep in mind, I had not received a price for a in door between glass shade. All they said was it would cost 400-800 dollars or more. I have 20 year old Pella between the panes blinds. They were in poor shape with broken pieces, ladders, strings and various parts. I have sliding doors and single French door. I had them all refurbished by OEM and couldn't be more pleased. So glad this company is willing to work with these old blinds. They look like new and work very well! Thank you OEM! I really wanted to do business with this company, but after a phone call or 2, I decided against it. I have a Pella between the glass shade that needs the pleated fabric replaced. I called OEM, and they were nice enough, but the method of business is a turn off. First, absolutely no price estimated. surely I can give my dimensions any should be able to get a price. Instead, the procedure is to send the old shade in, and upon inspection, a price will be given. These Pella shades are uncommon and I can't see how it would be difficult to price since I know exactly what is needed. Second, when they want to give you a price they will call you. you must answer as they have a policy not to leave messages. After five calls, they will e-mail you to tell you to call them back. Seriously, just leave a message like ANY normal business would. In the end, I chose to just find another solution. There are too many bad reviews for me. read more

When I called (after sending him a picture of said blind and it's problems) he accused me of not installing it correctly - think, snap upper rail into mounted brackets, snap lower rail into brackets. When I asked about getting my money back since the blind was NOT repaired correctly he yelled at me saying,"Oh so that's what this is about!" I received my second phone call one month ago from OEM Blinds after I wrote an unfavorable review of them on Better Business Bureau. The call was from the company's vice president who had a hundred excuses for their irresponsible and unprofessional behavior. I told her that I had given up on them after sending them my irreplaceable Pella blinds. See my BBB short story for details. The phone call ended with a promise from the VP that she would send the blinds back to me which, as I expected, was just one more of many broken promises. Do business with them if you want, but be warned: if your experience is like mine you will find they do NOT do a single thing they promise to do, they will NOT return phone calls, they will NOT return email, and apparently they WILL keep your blinds. They received my blinds on June 7. It is now three months later. They still have my blinds. read more

Worst company I have ever dealt with. The owner, Curtis Smith, is not only rude, but must think cussing at customers helps with his business. Pella sent me to this company two years ago and I sent them a blind to repair. When I got it back, it was backwards. Mr. Smith tried to blame us for not putting it in correctly. There is only one way to put it in. Sent it back and they fixed that problem. The repair came with a 3 year warranty. After two years and one month, the same problem happened again. I called and was told to send it back and it would be fixed under warranty. Got a call from Mr. Smith who informed me that it was customer abuse, and he would not fix it under warranty. Wanted another $280 to fix the same problem. We have 21 windows with the same blind. We have not had to replace any other blind for almost 20 years. And somehow Mr. Smith knows that we are abusing this ONE blind. Won't ever deal with this company again. And even though Pella sent me to this place, they won't do anything for their customer. Wanted $715 for a new one. But that's another review. read more

My experience with this company is contrary to other reviewers. I spoke to Joe (sorry didn't get a last name) and he was helpful. I needed the fabric replaced in two 24" x 60" Verosol blinds from my 1998 vintage Pella Windows. I shipped them in and received a quote back within a week. It was expensive (about $220 each), but the work was done on schedule (3 weeks) and the blinds returned in perfect condition. The only thing I probably should have done was asked for a swatch of the fabric before placing the order to confirm it was what I wanted. All in all I'm very happy. read more

This is the most frustrating company I have ever worked with. A project that was estimated to require 3 to 4 weeks actually required 11 weeks. I called the company 20 times, spoke to a person and received information 3 times. They returned 2 of my calls. Did you know that company policy is to NOT leave a message when returning a call because the "wife of the house is spending money her husband doesn't know about"? I kid you not. That is the reason given to me by the extremely rude and obnoxious owner, Curtis. The unfortunate fact is that this company is recommended by Pella for repairing or replacing shades or blinds. The only reason I gave them 1 star is because the finished product satisfied my requirement, works properly and looks better than the broken mess I replaced. It seems to be the only place that you can go to get your older Pella blinds restrung so they can and do treat you like crap and charge you what they want. I filed a complaint with the BBB after getting the run around for 7 months on a blind that I had to send back three times and the last time gone missing. The owner Curtis Smith called me and told me that now that I filed a claim against his company he wasn't going to refund the money I paid to get my blind fixed. He said I would get farther with honey. Baloney! I got NOWHERE in 7 months. He never had any intention of refunding me. He said the very same thing to me as the previous reviewer commented. I have between the pane shades on Pella windows throughout my house. I had 6 shades replaced by OEM a few years ago when the company was in PA. Very good experience. Recently I needed the shades replaced in my kitchen window as they were torn and the pull strings were broken. After reading reviews here I was hesitant to use OEM since the company has moved. The Pella representative came to my house and said "too bad" on my 25 year old windows and suggested replacing the 30 windows in my house. There is nothing wrong with my windows other than the shades are torn on a few. So with a lot of trepiditation I sent the shades from 3 panes off to OEM. I'm so glad I did. They shades are perfect. OEM was easy to deal with. Yes they were expensive but nothing compared to replacing the windows as was suggested by the Pella representative. For sure I will be doing business with OEM in the future. read more
