Multiple bad experiences here, so this is definitely not a one-off. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time, but they keep dropping the ball. First off, the customer service is terrible. The guys at the front desk are unprofessional and have terrible communication skills, which is not what you want when you're trusting a shop with thousands of dollars worth of work. And definitely not the kinds of guys I would seek their opinion on parts/builds. (Besides the guy who drives the old gen tundra, he's cool). Second, they don't stick to their schedule at all. You can drop your truck off for a 10 AM appointment and it won't even get on a lift until mid afternoon. Then hours later you get a call saying something came up, they need to order parts, they can't finish the job, or now it's going to cost more. This has happened to me multiple times, including a long travel kit install, mounting new wheels, and even just a basic rotation and rebalance. Third, the quality of work has been just as bad. I had them mount and balance brand new 37s on brand new wheels, and I kept finding wheel weights in my driveway. The first time, I brought it back and they said they'd fix it. Instead, they just slapped more weights on and sent me out. Same problem kept happening and I ended up with another handful of weights falling off over time. (and that's just the ones I found, who knows how much actually fell off elsewhere.) When I called again, they wanted me to pay for another rebalance. At that point I just agreed since I also needed a rotation and had a tire with a nail in it. I dropped it off at 10 expecting to get it back in a few hours. At 1 they call and say they can't patch the tire and asked if I want to continue. I told them no because I was going to need to buy another tire and have it installed. At that point all they had done was take that wheel off the truck. Then when I said I'd come pick it up, they told me it wouldn't be ready until 3 because the tech was at lunch. That pretty much sums it up. Poor communication, wasted time, and sloppy work. They're (relatively) cheap for a reason. If you're thinking about bringing your truck here, I'd honestly go somewhere else and save yourself the headache. read more

I was not a today buyer and not once did I feel pressured, staff shared their opinions as well as personal experiences with the products I was asking about. Both guys seemed very knowledgeable and willing to answer all of my questions. I am worried about how modifying my new truck will affect the new car warranty. They offer a warranty on everything the dealer may refuse to cover due to being modified. I'll be back here to get the work done. This shop is RIDICULOUS, I can't believe they could talk trash to a customer. I came in WANTING to spend money!! I wanted to do a lift kit and tires. I came to the shop for help due to the fact that I know doing a lift kit on a 2WD Ford my be difficult and these guys just laughed at me and when I asked if they could do anything for me they said no, go buy a 4x4. Long story short - ORW El Cajon either doesn't know what their talking about or simply blows off easy jobs, and exhibits condescending attitude toward first-time (and now last-time) customer. Full story - After buying aftermarket wheels and tires for my truck from another company, I brought my truck into these guys and let them know the following: 1. The company I bought the wheels and tires from used balancing beads to balance the tires 2. I had no previous experience with balancing beads so didn't know if they worked well or not 3. The truck wobbled noticeably at speeds upwards of 50mph 4. I wanted the balancing beads removed and wanted to have road force balancing done I then left the truck with them to do the work, but was called to return to the store a short time later where I was told (condescendingly) that the wobble was because I put Load Range E tires on a half-ton truck and that road force balancing wouldn't correct the issue. I took the staff's word for it, since after all they should be experts. Then, after months of thinking I was a dummy for putting the wrong tires on my truck, I decided to take the truck to Discount Tire to have the beads removed and get everything road force balanced. This resolved the wobble/vibrations completely. Needless to say, I won't bring any vehicles to ORW El Cajon for their opinion or assistance anymore. read more

I was greeted immediately when I arrived, but as soon as I walked up to the counter everything decline quickly. One of the guys just walked away and the other watched him walk away before asking me if needed anything. I asked for help, I wanted a professional opinion about suspension and towing. He gave me short answers and didn't really offer any solutions. I tried to initiate conversation about air bags and he didn't really help at all, just confirmed that air bags are an option. I was hoping for some knowledge from this guy, not a cashier at gas station. My issues is, I came there for expert assistance with the intention of spending money, but instead I was treated like I interrupted their Facebook profile update. Never coming back. I took my jeep tj to them because steering was feeling loose I had them check it out . They told that the ball joints and track bar was bad along with control arms drag bar There price to fix $3600 The ball joints track bar drag link tie rods were all new with only 300 miles so I knew whoever the Mechanic that looked at it did not know what was wrong with it I had it towed home and fixed it for $60. All it needed was the track bar was not adjusted right and it needed A steering stabilizer $60 it cost now it works perfect I can go 80 miles an hour on the freeway no problem. read more

ORW canceled my order twice. Both times I received an order confirmation. They didn't respond to my email or voicemails for a resolution. They seem to hide behind their no reply emails. Brought my truck here during Covid times and had my 18 Tacoma worked on. I had 5.29 gears (nitro) installed with front arb lockers. I dealt with Dakota and Marco. I had a few hiccups with my install but these dudes bent over backwards to make it right. They made sure my work was not only done right but made sure all my other purchases were taken care of and discounted when I came with a price to match. These people are SHADY AF We've been here twice: the first time they offered to install side steps that we purchased from them and we declined because it was an absurd price. When we went to pick up the side steps they offered AGAIN to install at half the price. The second time we went, we ordered a bed cover. Before it even came in, my husband called and said he'd like to cancel the order because he found it online for about $200 cheaper. They told him there would be a $90 restocking fee. I called and acted like an inquiring customer and asked if I did not like the bed cover (the one that he ordered already but they didn't know I was the same customer) if there would be a restocking fee. The man I spoke to said there would be no restocking fee as long as it wasn't opened. We never even took it out of the warehouse but they still insisted on charging a restocking fee. They're shady. They say one thing and do another. I don't recommend. If you can install things on your own, don't come here. Buy online. It's cheaper anyways. read more

I've had some "ok"" experiences with ORW, never great, just average. But it seems like this place will go out of business soon. I ordered a part, which I was told multiple times, would be in next day, I never received it, and they kept changing the date. They did that 2-3 times and here we are 10 days later, and my parts are not in. My parts were supposed to come in today, and told them 3 days ago that if they didn't have them by today, I needed my money back. I paid cash and they don't have my parts or my CASH. They're now telling me they'll reimburse me next week. Why didn't they get ready with my cash or a check, if they know they will not have the parts I ordered ?? They're desperate to make sales, and they will lie to make a buck. Not to mention they were about $150 more than what I saw online, but because they promised to have them next day, I went ahead and ordered thru them. Called to get an alignment done after installing a 3" lift. Was able to schedule the next day. The work took about a day for turn around.

We took our 2022 Jeep Sport to ORW on a frecking August miserable hot day but the inside of the store was very pleasant. David Loera was the Dude that took care of us. We basically told him that we wanted the Jeep lifted, and that we needed tires and wheels and since we did not know anything of what is new regarding brands of lifts, shocks and everything that was needed to let us know what would be the best choice for us and the budget that we had. David took his time showing us the differences between the 2.5 and 4.0 inch lift price differences and everything required for each kit. He did the same with upgrades of parts required, tires and wheels. David was very patient with wife LOL its basically her car so she had a good amount of questions that the poor guy end up working extra because place closing time was at 3:00 pm on Sat. We made the deal David informed us that they had everything in stock except the wheels to wait for a few days then we could make an appointment to bring the Jeep in and that will take 2 days to be completed. Sure thing the appointment was set and he told us that they will have the car ready the same day. We were impressed with the results we went with the 2.5 in lift with 35 in tires, I wanted the 4 in lift because we are an older couple in total denial but David was right the 2.5 in lift is perfect for us. Next day I was on the store because I had some questions on how I felt the car now compared to stock. David explained all my questions he even took the time to drive the Jeep around the block and highway and he did say to take the Jeep on a dirt road and see what the drive was going to be. Today we tested the Jeep on the dirt road behind Viejas Casino it's a long hill perfect to test the suspension and I'm happy to say that it was a smooth ride except for wife complaining that i was going to kill us because I was driving very fast and that I'm not allowed to drive her Jeep anymore I was LMAO all the way up the hill and once we got home with the entire car covered with dirt I said NOW THAT IS A JEEP! We are very satisfied with the results, David and the rest of the staff were very attentive and would not hesitate returning to ORW to get the other stuff we need to put on the Jeep. I decided to go in to look at some light bars for my 2012 FJ. I had the older PHIAAs and wanted to upgrade them and add two small lights on each side of my winch control box. When I arrived there were two employees standing right outside the doorway hanging out. I waited in there show room for over 20 minutes, and not one person offered to help me. I was standing there in front of their light bar counter display. I could see 4 guys just sitting around scrolling through their cell phones. There was no customers so I wasn't sure what was going on. I even walked around and still not one person greeted me. So I opened up yelp and started to read their reviews while I waited, and read a bunch of horror stories. I ended up leaving, and I am thankful I did. After reading about the horrible customer service that I experienced first hand, not to mention the botched jobs they were known for. I just dodged a bullet lol. These guys gouge.... they have no idea what they're doing when it comes to custom applications they are one up from Pep Boys... I ordered parts on Saturday and was told they would be in by Thursday, Friday at the latest. Came in the next week Tuesday and then was told they would not even ship for 2 more weeks. Then called in three weeks and was told they would be in Thursday or Friday. Came in the following Monday and now they might ship this week. That's a month and a half when I was told 4 to 5 days. I'll start from the beginning (usually the best place to start with a review.) We bought a pre-runner truck in August 2020 (I added the year in case your reading this 5yrs from now.) My husband wanted to 4 link and pre-run it, so he went around to the fabrication businesses in San Diego to get prices an professional opinions on what he had and what he wanted done... We went to "Truck Stop", but they only do Toyota, Lexus and Scion we have 3 Chevys and a GMC. Next we went to "4 Wheel parts" they do lifts and off road stuff, but they don't fabricate, We went to Off Road Wearhouse and they said they could get the shocks in, in 2-4wks, but they don't do alot of fabrication. We went to Dirt King Fabrication, they had everything needed to 4 link our truck and specialized in fabrication, but they were booked till February 2021... So they suggested to order there front-end and have ORW put it in (They trusted them to install thier stuff properly. So we went back to ORW and talked to a guy we will call Oscar (Names may or may not have been changed for this review, there's a lot of people who work at ORW with a lot of names.) Anyway Oscar was nice, knowledgeable, helpful everything a good customer service associate should be. He said it would be 2wks till the King Shocks and DKF (DirtKing Fabrication) suspention gets in and then it will take about a week to install and build the front suspention. Everyother King distributer said 16wks out... Oscar said no no it's only 2wks, 2wks came and went, he then said he called and they're on there way... This went on for 10wks. We quite calling an asking. My husband decided to buy diffrent powder coated King shocks off someone who already had them. So then it was just when to get into ORW, at this point we didn't even want them to do it anymore. When we told them we were having DKF do the rear end he started trying to sell himself saying they can do it and he's the main distributer for some other shock company... Um WTF, we want King all the way around not two diffrent brands, we also wanted the same company to do the whole thing, DKF was backed up till February. By the time everything got in whats another mo to wait for DKF. Oscar said they were good at fabrication, as good as DKF... lol um that's all they do is custom fabrication on everything they install, the only reason we went with ORW was cause DKF said they trusted them to do the front end... We kept the King shocks we ordered we are usi g them for my truck. We got the shocks in 16 weeks after ordering them like the other distributers said. Anyway we finally got my husbands truck into their shop and they began the work on the front end. You would think it would be smooth sailing from here, Nope, after a few weeks ORW called and said they were all done with everything, except the fabrication, which they were waiting on the bender bar... (But they said they were profesional fabricators, and can fabricate as good as anyother fabrication specialist, shouldn't they have a bender for all the trucks they fabricate...) So another week goes by and we get a message saying we can come get the truck, but we should tow it out of there. My husband called and asked why we would tow it, it drove in there just fine it should drove out... We called Oscar, but couldn't get him on the phone... Theybsay the trucks ready, so we go to pick up the truck... We get there and it has no engine cage (the fabrication their so good at, the reason they were waiting on the bender bar, just didn't happen!!!) They just set them on top of the motor. This is why thy said tow it. So we called DKF we're tired of trying to talk to Oscar and getting no where. Oscar said that since we were putting in a new motor the engine cage would be in the way, so they just didn't do it. It's hard to drive a truck with resivores just floppin around in the engine bay!!! ... In the end ORW fabricated the engine cage... We drove it to get the new motor. When we finally got it in to DKF, we found out that ORW's weld were so bad DKF had to re weld the whole front end... Guess we got DKF to do the whole truck after all, and ORW got some practice in... (IDK if theres a difference between a motor and an engine, but I used both throughout this review. Let me know if I messed up) read more
