Been dropping in here over the last year and want to say overall I am pretty impressed, specifically since last week. Let me start by saying this place is always clean and well stocked. Last week, I stopped in to see if the new Crown Royal Blackberry was available yet? They kindly explained their order was due in on Thursday. The next question what will you be charging? They said no more than $5 over. Fair enough for me. Well, I called on Thursday, they did get it in but only three bottles left and YES they would hold a bottle for me for three hours. Great beers selection, I always check dates on beers, and everything there checks looks great. If you are a whiskey enthusiast, this place is well worth a visit. I chatted with Jacob on a Thursday, and his brother Isaac on Friday. So knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I ended up leaving with a gift bottle for a friend of Woodford double oaked. Also got a fifth of two I haven't tried yet. Uncle Nearest 1856 100 proof, and Isaac made a fantastic recommendation to try Old Ezra 7. "117 proof, but so smooth". A real gem of a store. Also a great wine selection. Monthly tastings! read more

This place has a pretty good selection of everything, I've been here a few times now. It's probably not the only liquor store close to my apartment but it's always on the way to/from things. A friend and I had perused the fine offerings at Aldi (but seriously - they have a ton of wine) and then decided to stop by here. He was excited because they had a certain brand of West Michigan hard cider that he liked, and I did a 3-pack of ciders including two brands I had never heard of before; one was a pear cider and one was a "mimosa-esque" one, an apple peach cider. I liked that one better than the pear. The third was a pumpkin (apple?) cider but I left that one at my friend's place - we were buying provisions for a TV night. Prices aren't too bad either. I'll stop by here again when in need of some provisions. read more

This place has a large selection of craft beers- was able to find some really cool beers for a gift. Also they have more rare options- saw a few CBS up by the front. They have a lot of cheaper wines and a few more expensive wines in a case- if you're looking for more expensive wines they've really only got a few- but they were good choices. Great selection, but unfortunately we stopped in about 20 minutes before closing time. I had a buddy with me who was visiting from out of town, and I wanted to take him here, as he is big into both bourbon and craft beer. We browsed the selections for 10 minutes, then found the growler fill station. We were interested in getting some beer from the growler station, but the two employees behind the counter payed no attention to us. After a few minutes of being ignored, we walked down to the cash register and inquired about getting beer. The manager told us the growler station was closed and he was busy "counting his registers" so he could get out promptly at 10pm when the store closed. This was at 9:47pm. After politely asking again and explaining that my buddy was from out of town and wanted some of the beer, the manager still refused. Instead of making what would have been an easy $40 growler sale, he was more interested in closing shop promptly at 10pm. My buddy then inquired about bourbon store picks. The manager pointed out 3 on his shelves, but seemed disinterested and bothered that we were in the store near closing time. My buddy ended up buying 2 bottles of bourbon and we left the store at 9:49pm. Plenty of time to get beer from the growler station, but this manager didn't want to be bothered. His only concern was getting the shop closed up and getting out the door at 10pm. See attached picture and notice we were rung up at 21:49 (9:49pm). Choose a different place with people that actually want to work with you. I had the same guy be incredibly rude to me twice while I was asking him if they carried a certain beer. His response was dismissive and arrogant. I figured he was just a cranky jerk. However after giving them several other attempts, I discovered the other quiet guy behind the shelf is just as rude, you just won't discover it until you ask him a question. Good craft beer selection, but unfortunately poor customer service. I stopped in on Sunday, July 21, 2019 just 10 minutes before 7:00pm closing time. I browsed through the selection and found my beer Shorts Juicy BRUT Ale. I ask the manager to help me find another similar beer. We browsed through the selections, and he suggested a couple of beers and then looked at his watch and reminded me that "We close in 3 minutes. What else can I find for you?" I told him I really liked the Short beer flavor, aroma and low alcohol level of 5% or lower. He replied, "That's nice to know." Then he repeated, "We close in 2 minutes. What else can I find for you?" I asked him which of the two beers he would recommend purchasing based on my criteria. He dispensed with his advice. Then he repeated, "We close in 1 minute. Now what else can I find for you?" I told him that I was being getting very irritated of him repeating how much time is left before closing. I am NOT going to make a purchase and would never shop in this store again. He initially apologized "Ohhh, I am sorry." To which I replied, get with your manager/owner to get some emotional intelligence training. Your lack of customer service skills is disturbing. I've got to say, this place is TITS. To support this statement, I submit the following: 1.) It's very clean. 2.) It's very well organized. 3.) They offer mini shopping carts. 4.) The selection is amazing. They say they have over 300 different types of beer to choose from. I didn't bother counting them, so I'll take their word for it. You also can buy beer by the individual bottle, and they just charge you for 1/6th of a six pack. So you can mix and match all you want. The liquor selection is also very good. Which leads me to the next item... 5.) Chilled liquor! Many popular items are already cold and ready to be taken to the party of your choice. (or to my house, if you are feeling generous.) 6.) Tons of snacks and other party supplies. 7.) Employees are really friendly. 8.) It's really close to my house. (so it's not really out of your way to drop some liquor off at my house... just sayin'...) Ummm... I actually can't find any fault with Off the Wagon. Walking in, the place is quite large and can look intimidating, but they have a very nice selection of craft beer. What I like most about the place is how clean and organized it is. Some of the places I fancy the most can feel a bit cramped and I am so afraid I am going to knock stuff off the shelf like George Costanza wearing a Gore Tex jacket. Here though the aisles are spacious and I can breathe easy while I browse. They can be a bit pricey from what I found, at least from the few items I checked out while I was there. I have been on the hunt for Founders Big Lushious the last week or so and haven't had much luck. These guys had it in stock, but it was about $5 above the recommended retail price. While steep I probably would have spent the difference in gas driving around to other places so I am okay with that. However for stuff I know I can get at Champagnes or Zetounas at a relatively decent price I'd most likely pass on Off the Wagon if they are creeping up towards the higher end of the price spectrum. I will need to go back and investigate further to determine if the price markup holds true to everything else there. The staff was super helpful and Josh took the time to walk the floor with me pointing out a few suggestions as I was in the market for some uncommon Stouts and Porters as a Christmas gift for my father-in-law. All in all it was a solid first impression and like I said, I will definitely go back to price check other stuff and at least hit them up and give them my business when I am in the market for more hard to find items. **UPDATE** After further reflection and recent discoveries I am dropping this review down to three stars. As friendly as the staff was and as large as their stock is, I just can't get over the fact they are charging $5 more than everywhere else for the Big Lushious. I went to a place by my house last night and they had a crap ton there at the MSRP Founders recommends selling it at. I am kicking myself for not going there in the first place and will chalk this mistake up as a learning lesson. read more

The quest for craft beer continues.... I stopped in here based on reviews and the possibility of a decent single bottle selection. I've passed by several times, so I was curious before I embarked on my current journey. It's a very spacious & clean store. Very friendly staff and offered to help with any questions or recommendations. Their single bottle selection was average. They didn't really have much in the coolers, but they had a small section dedicated on the shelves. I'd say there were about 40 different kinds, which seems like a lot, and maybe it is to some people. It's funny to me that every place I've gone to has a different selection. I have seen some of the same local craft beers, but they all have a variety of others that I don't see everywhere. This makes it fun and challenging to make decisions. They seem to have a really good selection of wine & liquor. Prices for the single bottles seemed to be consistent with other places ($1.69-up). The one Kuhnhenn bottle they had was either $10.99 or $11.99. I thought maybe this was an error (like it was the 6-pack price), but I later found out that it was the cost per bottle. WOW! It's a nice store, and will definitely be back to check out other beers once I work through my current supply! read more

Great party store with a nice selection of beer, wine and liquor. A few years ago I was in Chicago and tried Not Your Fathers Root Beer and fell in love. I've eagerly awaited their arrival in Michigan, which just happened recently. When I found out Off the Wagon got a stock in, I called ahead. The guy who answered the phone was super nice and made sure he held me a 6 pack. I like places that value good customer service and this place has never let me down. read more

Decent selection of alcohol plus more. With fully stocked shelves of liquor, they have all the standard liquor choices, but are limited in the high end. There is a decent selection of craft and mass produced beers, and a so-so selection of wine. Unlike many of the other liquor stores in the area, they are a pseudo-grocery with various packaged goods and the necessary citrus for beverages. Additionally it appears they are putting in a kitchen, which will make their location more convenient for beer runs in the future. They do have a "make your own six pack." It does require some ambition however. They have a limited supply of singles, but will let you split-up a six-pack. read more

This store has the rudest cashier/manager. Followed us - a group of 5 ladies like we were filling our purses with bottles of wine. Took the shopping cart from us so we could not take the heavy bags to the car. He was creepy and rude and there are many better places to spend our money! I go here too much. The employees know my face. This is both a testament to why I probably need to stop drinking and also what a good liquor store Off the Wagon is. But calling it a Liquor Store is selling it short. When I needed to stock the bar for my brother's bachelor party, I turned here. When I needed to get a series of bottles of wine for a gift for my wife, an employee helped me pick out some great wines. When I needed to get the latest limited -release beers such as Hopslam, KBS, and Bourbon County Stout, I turned here. Over the years they have ordered custom 6-packs for my wife and I as well as a rare whiskeys. When my friends and family cant find a unique brand of liquor, they call me and if Off The Wagon doesn't have it, they order it. Still, it is rare they can't find something for me. The store has an extensive collection of wine, liquor, mixers, bitters, macro brew and nearly 1,000 micro brews. You don't have to buy 6-packs either. Six packs are available, even of new releases. Give this place a shot if you need a go-to-store. read more
