OfficeMax Rochester is our usual location for office supplies. This is a convenient location for us and the people here have always been friendly and helpful. We always check the sale ads when we are looking for specific office supplies for our home office or businesses. We do sometimes frequent an OfficeMax competitor because of a better price due to a sale. But normally we come here because of the wide selection and good service. Since they combined with OfficeDepot we keep track of both sale ads. Also, we have been in their MaxPerks program for so long that my membership card doesn't even have a bar code on it! You can get credit to use at the stores based on your purchases. They also have a recycling program for printer ink cartridges. Bring them in for credit of $2 each, but limited to $20 total per month; if you regularly exceed that, you may have another problem. read more

My visit was like a roller coaster- started out with a quite friendly gentleman leading me to the place , to have Covid cards laminated. The employee there seemed- at the beginning- to be annoyed, that I had 3 cards. He quickly changed his attitude- no charge for these services! read more

I went in to make a few copies but they didnt come out good so I asked if they could print but they said I had to go online to get a copy made then talked down to me when I asked if I could get my cardstock paper back that I use for my business. Where do I begin.... The absolute worst experience I have ever had with a store manager in a retail corporation. I called to ensure that I could get 8 sheets of water bottle labels printed. The employee ensured me that they had the labels and that they would start working on the project so that we could pick it up in a few hours. I was very clear about the time frame and they ensured me again that it would not be a problem. The employee told me there was a $29.00 set up fee but if we emailed the artwork there would be no charge. I emailed the artwork to Emily and was told she would start on it right away. I than call back to confirm Emily received the email and was told she did receive it and would "get to it". When I called back once again for the status I was told Emily was gone... I than spoke to the store manger, Ken Yee. What a piece of work. We told him we were on our way to pick up our order at no point did he tell us it was not ready and when we got there he said there was no way it could have been done in a 24 hour time period. Instead of working on getting my job finished which was so easy he continued to argue with me, telling me I was rude and saying the only way he could do this fast and get it done would be charging me a $60 rush fee on top of a $30 set up fee. None of this was disclosed to me on my initial calls. His business card states "technology specialist" which is the biggest joke because he was the most incompetent man I've ever witnessed. Needless to say we drove down the street to staples where a lovely gentlemen by the name of Jacob printed my order in less than 5 minutes and charged me $1.02. NEVER GO TO OFFICE DEPOT/OFFICE MAX, THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS. ESPECIALLY THE STORE MANAGER KEN YEE. THAT MAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE OR ANY OTHER OFFICE MAX!!!!! I wanted to give them no stars but had to give them a rating. I was at the store, sicker than a dog , picking up a few last minute stocking stuffers for my son. I was there on Saturday at 4:30p. There was a product going to be on sale the next day 13 hours later that I had asked for the sale price. The clerk and the manager said "corporate would not allow it." I squeaked (having no voice and cheeks as red as stoplights from fever, that I was not going to come back tomorrow obviously I am really sick. To no avail. So, three days later having a small amount of voice, I called Corporate to see if this was in fact their policy. They said yes and that there was nothing the manager could do about it. THIS IS LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Please vote with your feet. Buy your office supplies at Costco, Staples, Office Depot or even Amazon. With this kind of customer service buying online at a competitor is a much better experience. I know of a number of other businesses that do give you the sale price as guaranteed revenue and goodwill. Hopefully enough people will shop elsewhere that we will not have any Office Max stores left in business. read more

I love this Office Max! They bailed me out when I was completely desperate. I was trying to have a 20x30" poster printed for my wedding's seating chart. Every place that I called quoted me $30+ to do this, even though I didn't want anything fancy, just normal poster paper. Finally, one week before my wedding, I trudged in here, resigned to the fact that I was about to fork over $30 for a piece of paper. The girl in the printing area was so helpful, and she even gave me a "congratulations" when she saw what I was printing. When it was all over, she handed me my rolled up poster and my receipt. As I was walking up to the register, I glanced at it and I couldn't believe my eyes -- $9?!?!?! I went back and confirmed with her and yes, it was actually $9! I thanked her profusely and skipped to the register to pay for my goods. PS - Everyone raved about my gorgeous seating chart - they thought it must have cost hundreds of dollars ;) read more

Been here several times over the years and when I came in here today to drop off a package, service was really prompt. It could be better alerting customers to the drop off point which is at the back of the store rather than checking it with a clerk. This location does serve as a fedex drop off point and as far as the rest of the store is concerned, they have had some decent stuff at sale prices when necessary. Compared to the FedEx clerk in their Troy store, the clerk was substantially faster handing me a confirmation receipt and checking in package. Overall, a prompt and quality experience. read more

Hello all, I'll keep this as brief as I can. It all started a year or two ago. I won a contest at work with a design. A design that the boss asked me to get printed to hang up at work. I took it to Office Max to have it printed big, like seven feet tall big as it was to be hung up in the office. After the sales clerk in the print area explained my options I opted for a vinyl print with metal eyelets (for it's durability). When I received it, the color profile was off and the contrast was set so everything was way too dark and under detailed. I prepaid for this P.O.S. print and they said they couldn't do anything about it because they shipped it off to be printed and they don't have any control over what the other printer does. I took it to work and it was hung up in the hall by our eating area. While the print was hung up high my head was hung low in shame at the poor quality that made an otherwise beautiful piece of art look awful, bland and dim. A year or two goes by and tonight *03-11-15* I figured I'd give them another chance. I explained to print clerk Katherine, what my last experience was with the company and how I was unsatisfied with the results. She recommended me that I go to a real print shop for better quality and a more accurate outcome. Together we looked at the new images I wanted to print. I told her before we go ahead and agree to anything final I would like print samples to approve. She agreed and printed a sample of one of the images and it looked bad, again.. I asked her if she could make the print look like the picture on the computer and she said she wasn't sure and that she'd have to tamper with it in Photoshop and that it would cost me an extra ten dollars to do that. You understand that it would cost me an extra ten dollars for them to print my picture out the way that it looks in the picture. So she tweaked the picture an did a small test print and it did look somewhat better than the last horrific print. I asked her to print a bigger one so we can take a look at the details of the image. While that was printing the lights shut off in the print area and that disturbed me as without light how can we get a good look at this print. Katherine even joked about it saying "Well, that is going to make proofing it really difficult, won't it..." The full size image "poster size" finished and again, it looked really bad. I told her to forget it and I was just going to leave. She asked me how I wanted to take the print home to which I replied that they could keep it and that I can't use that. She wrote down a code on a piece of paper and instructed me to bring it up to the front cashier and that the print was going to cost me nineteen dollars plus tax.. My rage was great at this point and I rushed the sticky note up to the cashier and paid twenty one plus dollars for a print that I didn't even like nor did I even take it home with me. She still had it in the back and I paid for it. That was the absolute last time I will ever go to Office Max.. Thanks for ripping me off twice. I can only hope that now that they were absorbed by Office Depot, corporate will whip them into shape. Maybe then they will give paying customers a print that look like the image that was given to them. Prints they can pay for AND take home with them... read more

I feel compelled to report the wonderful customer service we received today at your Rochester Hills, MI store #6110. Emily and Ken were sooooo helpful and completed our project in record time. I needed an Obituary booklet printed/prepared for the funeral service of my sister. During this emotional time, I sincerely appreciated the extra care that Emily and Ken took to be sure I was satisfied with the project. Not only were they competent, I could feel their compassion for me and my husband. I knew they were on a mission to assure our satisfaction. Thanks guys! I will definitely return to this store for our office, printing, or miscellaneous needs in the future. If the opportunity comes up, I will be recommending this store to my relatives and friends. worst place ever wanted a new computer so the manager asked how much I do on it not much no reports or anything so sold me a dell on sale sooooooooo sloooooow everytime I use it I think of how horrible this place is he was so anxious to get rid of these that eventhough it was out of stock he sent me to the van dyke store to pick it up just because a person only looks up info that is NO reason to sell them a piece of crap that does not work in order to return it he asked me to buy another computer from him didn't want to buy anything from here so I called the sterling heights store that I picked it up from that was the Friday before Christmas of 2017 I guess the manager there is still out to lunch sure eats a lot I'm in the library now FASTER to drive to the library then to wait for this computer the mgr. sold me very much age discrimination read more
