I have shopped with Office Depot for decades. This is the first time I needed to return a defective item. The process is belaboring and nonproductive. The value of the item is not worth the time I've spent. My advice is to just throw the defective item in the trash and don't waste your time. read more

Diane rocks! She made sure our visit yesterday was extremely satisfying. She's been on her toes, explaining a lot of things to help us decide on which chair to buy. She explained the extended warranty as well which we're glad are free for two years. We left to go back home and check if the old computer chair we have at is still covered under the 5 year manufacturer's warranty and also to see if we have the original receipt. Unfortunately we lost the receipt so we decided to go back and buy a new computer gaming chair. Diane was still warm and happy to help us, told us to just wait by the cashiers area, she'll get the chair for us. When she got back with the box of the new chair, she endorsed us to the young lady cashier (sorry we didn't get her name) who's also very helpful and warm. After paying she said she'll have someone take it out of the store to the curb side where we could wait in the car. Unfortunately, the young guy who helped us was not as warm and actually just loaded the box in the car and left without even saying anything nor making sure the box was loaded correctly at the back of our car. Anyway, with Diane's warm and accommodating service together with the very helpful cashier who checked us out, it was still a very easy and fast buying experience at this particular OfficeMax. I really only shop at office supply stores if they have something I need on sale. The store is always neat and orderly but the prices are much higher than discount stores. Which is why I feel I can't give 5 stars. Especially when other stores are offering great deals right now. I did find a few things on sale that made it worth stopping by, but the set up for back-to-school supplies had me walking all through the store to find what I needed. Great tactic to get me to hunt and pick up other things I wasn't shopping for. I stuck to my list. read more

Do not go here if you need something printed, I have been there multiple times before 7 and the print area is closed and they redirect you to the self service printers that take 15+ minutes for a print job. They have employees walking around but TOO BUSY TO PRINT A FILE that would take less than 5 min. Needless to say last time I'll ever go to this location. We just returned from visiting OfficeMax in Alamo Ranch. The sole purpose of the trip was to check out their office chairs for my husband. As I was walking toward the furniture section, a sales associate named Melissa offered to help. She asked great questions about what my husband needed in a chair, and made excellent suggestions based on his height and how he needed it to function. She didn't try to sell us the most expensive item, but was able to clearly communicate the differences among the products. She said she's been in the business a while and her expertise was evident and very helpful. If you'd like to talk with someone who understands office furniture "fit", ask for Melissa. Buyers beware!!! We bought an office chair that was on sale 1/2 off July 4th. When we got it home we realized we bought a brown chair, not the black we wanted. Went back to the store July 5th to exchange it and were told the chair was on sale one day only. They would not exchange the chair, and said we would have to pay the full price to get the black chair. What ?!?!?!?! It's sad that the manager didn't realize the insanity of it. We will no longer be customers of this store. read more

My husband has faithfully used Office Max for months. He prints things as needed for his job, which has many moving pieces and timeliness is critical to his work. When we walked in at 7:50 we were "greeted" immediately and asked by the young male sales associate if he could "help us find anything" (honestly kind of pushy and I realize now he was anxious to close the store and get all customers out). My husband said "no thank you I just need to print something". He had already sent the document, and received a confirmation code to THIS STORE'S PRINTER. The sales associate insisted that we could not print our documents because "our machines run really slow it won't print in time". I asked "he's done this before at this and other office max locations, is your machine not working on par with the others?" And he replied "no it works it's just really slow" and he repeated "you won't have time". There was another associate there, a girl, who stood idly by as she witnessed this young man essentially close the store and refuse service to customers while they were still open. I presume he was in charge and she didn't question him, which is a shame. We will not be returning to this location and I wish there was an option to give zero stars. Have been to this location several times for random things and it's been great, until one day when I went with my wife and son to have some things printed for his school band leadership so I went walking around while they waited and I was followed around like I was a thief. Never was I asked if I needed help, just followed. As a Latino I'm used to this and am very aware of when it happens so it's not my imagination. My only advice to office max is if your going to survey someone, be more inconspicuous! Because you'll lose loyal customers if you treat them like thieves. read more

If you are open until a certain time, you should be able to serve customers until that time. I came to get my vaccination card laminated. It was 8 minutes until closing, which was plenty of time to do it as there were no customers. They had three people at the door, apparently to turn away customers. "We close in eight minutes. We've already turned off the machines." How about don't turn them off until you close. Or just be honest and post your actual closing time of 5:52. I heard this chain wasn't doing well. Bad customer service doesn't help their profit. Three stars since I'm feeling a little generous but really should have been one star. read more

I am very upset at the fact I paid $67 to print and laminate 20 pages. I asked for them to be laminated and then cut in half. I thought what I wanted was clear as she repeated it back to me. She told me my request was going to take longer than the 1.5 hours the store had left open that I would have to pick up next day. I had no problem doing so. When I come back it's another lady. She informs me she has to charge me extra for cutting the papers prior to laminating. I didn't arrive with any forms of payment as I just paid $67! On top of that the sheets weren't even cut after them being laminated. Lamination was very poor with markings and bubbles. Waste of money and will be going back Staples, where I not only get amazing service but it's also cheaper. read more

This Office Max location staff that was working today was super rude. We came in 30 minutes before closing to go school supply shopping. I hate shopping as it is, so I already knew what we needed with our list in hand. The staff would tell everyone coming in that they were closing in X amount of minutes, which made a lot of people uncomfortable and walk right out. The entire time we were there, a sales guy kept running into us and telling us how many more minutes we had until they closed. I've worked retail, and I am always respectful of closing times and was confident that we would be out of there right at or right before closing time. When it was time to check out, they actually encouraged my husband and daughters to exit the store since it was already 8:00pm while I checked out alone and had to carry all those school supply bags on my own out. Unfortunately, my check out lasted longer than they wanted because the prices that were ringing up were different than what I saw online. They weren't too happy about that. Be nicer to people! And there's a way to respectfully tell people or make them aware of your closing time without making it seem like you're annoyed with them or forcing them out because you want to leave work asap. read more

I had an event I was planning for and I needed programs to be printed somehow the document was a little bit confusing but the representative was very helpful she took the time with me to go over what I needed I was also able to communicate any changes I may have with the program. It turned out to be a great program and a wonderful event. So husband comes in to have a booklet printed out, laminated and bound. Simple service for a so called office company right.....no apparently not! They took his order and charged for the appropriate services. 8.30pm comes round and a girl calls up saying they can't use laminated sheets in their binding machine (face palm) so my husband says fine just print, laminate and refund me the necessary amount. The girl then proceeds to ask if he wants it laminated still. There was a very clear communication that it still needed to be laminated. This girl called up a second time to confirm what was already clear....laminate it!! Arrive at store next day and guess what.....it's not laminated!!!! Wow! Just wow! So go elsewhere if you need a simple task done correctly. read more

Usually I have a great experience at the store when I need to print items and thought the new check in process via text would make things simpler. Instead I texted to reserve my place in line at 5:56 and only one person was ahead of me and the text said estimated wait time was 5 min. Cool. Then 2 people walk in after me and get service right away?! I waited 20 min in the store and NO ONE offered any assistance and one lady that walked in after me was helped first and never texted in (previous visits I've been told I needed to text in). A tip for folks wanting to use Fed Ex. They charge, not only to print the label, but also $1 to tape it on the package! Really? I came in planning to buy a floor mat for my office as well, but I'll do business elsewhere. The nearby Fed Ex office will print the label and apply it without charge. Lesson learned. Go to Fed Ex to ship, not Office Depot. I will not be back. read more

Print shop was extremely helpful in getting the job right. I brought in my own paper (it was for a specific event and I wanted nicer paper) and they had the job done in about 5 minutes. They explained the options relevant to what I was doing and made the process easy and quick. read more
