BAD MANAGEMENT! I went to the 22nd/Harrison branch TWICE for TSA Precheck interview and was not able to get it. The first time they said they don't take walk-ins (online it says they clearly do). So I got a 9:30 APPT for the next day and was even early but the MANAGER (the only one that does it) was not in yet and would maybe be in within the hour. No reason. I work for an elementary school and our Kinder teacher has a lesson book she loves to use every year. The plastic spiral binding was literally cracking off and the edges where it was supposed to be bound was getting torn and worn. Mohammad at OfficeMax #6290 did an amazing job re-binding the book. We went to Officemax on Broadway in Tucson to get a funeral announcement made. We needed it 5x7 black and white double-sided plain paper. They told us 107.00. Do you hear me? Over 100 bucks for double-sided? The worker told me they were "outrageously" high priced. She also said it would take 24 hours. We thanked her and went to Reproductions in Tucson on 6th Ave. They did the job in 5 minutes, on postcard paper for ten bucks. LET ME REPEAT THAT---10.00! We were shocked at the difference between a professional place and a store that does printing. I can never recommend officemax for printing unless you want to pay a fortune. read more

This store is so aggravating. The printers rarely work as they should and employees are outwardly bothered when you ask for help.

Over the years of using this store for my printing needs the staff has changed and evolved to where almost all employees are fairly competent at their job. The staff is responsive and friendly. When I have questions they have answers. Why not five stars? I suppose it's not an easy fix. The exceptional staff can't be there all the time. It seems the others are just high turnover rate employees. A lot of new faces and continual training. It makes for a difficult interaction when you really need a job done right. Even the simple things; going in to pick up an order being asked a slew of questions about the order instead of just checking the completed orders for my prints. It's great they've been able to retain some of the better employees. They're why I keep going back. read more

I have gone here for printing jobs for years. Usually great service but today was very poor. May not return. Only one patiently standing in line and ignored by two clerks until a fellow shopper pointed their attention to me. A print job has a $2.50 minimum. Today Im told they cant print less than 12 pages. I only needed 3. Clerk curtly said new rule by management. Ok. Print me 4 copies to equal 12 pages. So I paid $2.50 for 12 sheets of paper instead of 3????? Just me or stupid? Worst experience ever at the print center - I waited for over 30 mins while print clerk regaled his story of his comedy troupe adventures to another customer. With no line. He finally starts to take my order and tells me I need to come back in 2 hours because he has a line. I explained I had been waiting over 30 mins already, that I was from out of town and needed to wait for my printing. His response was to ask the customers behind me if they minded waiting while he took care of me. I ended up leaving the store in frustration to go to another store that was much more accommodating. School supply shopping can be a challenge- looking for just the thing that will "make or break" your student's year. This am our issues were all resolved by sales associate Jen. We needed Cornell note paper with 3-hole-punch. First she called the store of the future but they didn't have it, so she offered to take the tablet into the service section and punch perfect holes. Problem solved. Then we needed post-it's of a particular size and shape- again, Jen to the rescue with her super cutter. I hope she is appreciated by her supervisors because we REALLY appreciated her this morning! read more

Check out clerk should have called for another clerk when she saw a shopping cart absolutely stacked to capacity ahead of me with only my one item in hand. I waited over ten minutes for this "gentleman" to get his purchases tallied and bagged. If this is service, I will get my printer's ink elsewhere next time. read more

I feel I wear a clock of invisibility when I enter Officemax. I see staff members but they can't see me. Spent 10 minutes unsuccessfully looking for a uninterruptible power supply, gave up and grabbed some pen and when to the counter. Pens rang up for 3 times price listed at display. Left with nothing. Still terrible - Zero Stars. After calling and asking Richard to print the pages ordered last Friday, he assured me that it would be done and ready for pick up. My client went in again today (Monday) to pick up and was told they didn't have his prints. I called and spoke to "Manager" Allen who miraculously found them immediately. He blamed the poor service on "new employees." and suggested I call 1-800-GO-Depot to file a complaint. I spoke to my client later and he mentioned that they didn't even bother looking for them, they just said they didn't have them. Shameful way to run a business. Will NEVER be back. read more

OfficeMax doesn't get to waste any more of my precious time. Waited 20 minutes before an employee was able to assist me in their empty store, just to be told by him, with arrogant smugness and certainty, that they don't carry the project cover sleeves I required. He gave me an alternative product to use that had OfficeMax branding all over it with white three hole binding for putting in binders. I went to put the product back and leave when I miraculously discovered the product I came there for, laying on the ground next to the computer chairs. The box was already open and I took it to check out. The clerk at the register SWORE up and down that she knew where there were plenty of new, unopened boxes in the back. After 5 minutes of standing at the register with a line forming closely behind me, (oh now people shop here), she comes back with a befuddled look and says sorry and proceeds with charging full price for an open box product. After objecting the price she proceeds to count the bindings in the box, 50ct, and refuses to count the actual cover sleeves. Because you can't possibly be missing one without the other. Finally a 'manager' hobbles over and begrudgingly grants me 10% discount while rolling her eyes behind her smug librarian glasses. Amazon is my official office supplier now. read more

I don't know why I like going to OfficeMax ... It's not for the assistance from employees it's just office supplies. the cashier was nice and friendly, the updated POS systems are cool. Hey it's the only place in Tucson I found Kuerig Green Tea fills. I also go here to pick up supplies to close big deals ...: that's why I love this place. This is one of the better stores in Tucson, reading some of the reviews I couldn't see why people would dislike or hate the staff. Very friendly staff, short handed so it takes a while to be assisted but, that's alright with me. They try their best to take of their customers to the best of their abilities. I had some tech services down Miller and Milo, took excellent care of me; very knowledgeable and gave great advice for my next upgrade when I'm ready. I would recommend anyone with a computer to come to this office depot and talk to them. They really are great staff, better than most retail stores I've been too in the pass. Don't believe the 5 bad reviews because these guys are awesome, little short staffed but great customer service when they can get to you. read more

If you're a teacher DON'T forget your Tucson Values Teachers cats because they won't even work with you. And you have to have it printed so just another thing teacher have to carry around. They wouldn't accept my phone one or my teacher ID. I'm not sure if that's a Tucson only thing or a national thing but they really should work with teachers. read more

I ordered something today that was a pick up in store only, I called and asked why, an assistant directed my call to the manager Adam. not only did Adam find my online order and conformed it, he personally brought to my place of business the item that was pick up in store only with in 20 mins of placing my order. I will never buy another piece of furniture from OfficeMax. At the register the rep sold me a two year warranty and told me that I could bring the item back any time in the next two years. A few months later, I can't stand the chair anymore, it hurts my back to use it... I try to bring the chair back and find out that the warranty was absolutely not what was explained to me. I am now stuck with a chair that doesn't work for me. Employees shouldn't make promises that amount to lies. When I tried to redeem my warranty in good faith I was referred to the website return policy. I guess I need to check everything I'm told and not trust people who work for this business. Worst experience ever. Waited in line about 15 minutes while the one guy working in the print center helped another customer and trained a new employee, never acknowledging my existence. He finally looks at me and asks if I've checked into the kiosk to get in line. What? He explains there are people in front of me and that I need to check in to get queued up. I was so agitated I left. Very poor signage as nothing explained this process by t there was signage tHat indicated I was in a line for printing services. They need more employees on a Saturday, and the ones they have need customer service training. read more

My dad went here today to buy some ink for his HP printer and was charged $72.82. Then he went to Best Buy and paid 40 something dollars.

Oh my, it is still the worst! Asked for help in computers and ten minutes later a person drifts over. Wanted to look at a monitor not on display,but oh no, she couldn't take it out of the box to see it because then they couldn't sell it. Asked if they could get two more of a different one that they did have on display. The manager checked and some other stores have one each, but we'd have to drive to each store. Finally got her to concede we could buy the three and bring them back if we don't like them. Then went to check out register but no one there either, someone showed up after a few minutes there though. When we first arrived we had tried to buy some moving boxes but they didn't have any in stock. While we were waiting we saw some empties by the register asked if we could have one. Office Max / Office Depot. If you have had the same issue please let me know. I went in two days ago on crunches. Did an associate ask me if I needed help NO!. I was trying my best to push a cart and walk at the same time. There was a sign that said with rewards card you get this box of (3 ream paper) for $2.00 So I put it in my cart with my other Items and proceed to the front and check out. The cashier stood there and said I can help who's next. So here I am struggling to guide my cart to the register. The woman never asked if I needed help she just waited there and smiled. Ok I finally get to the register and proceed to check out. never asked another question. I said no that price is not right. The paper is $2.00. She then proceeded to tell me that it was loaded on to the card. So I go home and I call customer service and tell them I can not look at the card please explain this. So Here I am looking at the rewards card online and the paper is NOT $2.00 it was $12.00. This is not what the sign said, So I go back to the store today now mind you that I am still on crunches. I go in get a cart as I can not carry this box of paper and NO one again asked me if I needed help and there was 3 employees standing and chatting. I walk out side and get the purse and the box and make my way back in stand in line and again did any of the employees as if I needed help nope not at all. Did I get asked about the reason I was returning the paper. Nope not at all. So Where is the Customer Service now that they are Office Max / Office Depot ?? They have gone down hill even further then before. They can not fix a computer. I would not even trust them with my phone as they are advertising that too. I went into this OfficeMax on Wednesday, August 21st to get some school supplies. We were helped by a woman while getting my supplies who was very helpful then we went to the registers to check out, one lady was ahead of us who was being helped by an associate, his name was Mike. After Mike rang the lady up and completed her transaction I went up to the register and put my things down to pay, immediately Mike turned around and walked into a different area behind the register and started doing I don't know what. I stood there for close to 5 minutes until Mike finally came over and started ringing my stuff up, as he was ringing me up a different associate walked behind the register to clock in and Mike once again walked away in the middle of my transaction. The associate who had just clocked in walked up to me and asked what I was waiting for and I told him I was waiting to pay and the associate himself said "I'm not sure why Mike walked away." I then finally finished my transaction and was able to leave after about 10 minutes dealing with Mike with no one else in line but me. I worked in retail for close to 7 years and I would NEVER act like Mike did, walking away from a customer and literally turning your back to them in the middle of a transaction is unheard of. It's safe to say I won't be coming back to this OfficeMax. read more
