I had an older dog and needed urgent care it was very costly and hard to get in. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. On the other hand I would give the practice a full 5 stars. I brought my puppy in for all his 1st year vaccinations and the staff was awesome. I saw a different vet every time and got to meet them all. I would trust my pup with anyone of them. Little pricey not all that bad after all it is Nantucket. They gave Brody an awesome gift package for being a new patient. They check up on him. Almost monthly to make sure all is well. The front desk staff is friendly and polite. I have no issues with the regular practice. Awesome staff. Very clean and welcoming environment and huge yard so your dog can take care of business. I have been going to Offshore since my dog was adopted almost 14 years ago. At nearly 16 he is a frequent flier there in his old age. Everyone has truly been wonderful over the years. The front desk is patient and kind and reassuring. The techs are loving, detailed oriented and hard working. The outstanding vets always take the time to answer my endless questions and calm my nerves when he has not been well. They are passionate, thorough, and knowledgeable. Nantucket is a dog lovers island, which means the demand for appointments is high; yet, they always find a way to accommodate whether it is for a regular visit or Urgent Care. They recognize the love we as owners have for our animals and share the same love. Just today we went over to Urgent Care unexpectedly, they were great about checking in with us providing updates as to when they could see him. Great care, listened to my concerns. This resulted in a claw trimming (for scratching habit) and a swift diagnosis of an easily treatable disease. My cat is a nervous rescue and they treated her very well. I recommend them especially when you think something is wrong but you're not quite sure. read more

This is a review of their urgent care system. They have no appointment system and expect you and your dog to wait in the waiting room for four hours or more. Completely inconsiderate of the animals and their people. Other urgent care in places I travel let people call in the morning to at least get an approximate slot. read more

I waited three years before posting this review in hopes time would make what they did to my dog feel less grievous. However, today I heard from a friend that treatment from this hospital seriously harmed her cat and I couldn't keep my feedback to myself any longer. I don't want to hear another sad story from Offshore, so I hope the following story will help others consider their veterinary options. Three years ago, my dog had a very serious ear infection. At the first sign of trouble, I took her to Offshore Animal Hospital, where I was told there was nothing wrong and she probably just needed a bath. A month later, it was worse so I brought her back in. There was obviously something wrong, but the veterinarian at Offshore once again told me if was fine and refused my request to please take a sample and test it. I am sorry to report that his happened THREE TIMES. Eventually, I moved off the island and was able to go to a vet who quickly diagnosed the issue, noted that if left untreated the infection could have rendered my dog deaf, and cured it within a month. Thanks to the veterinarians at Offshore Animal Hospital, who didn't listen to me, refused to do any tests to try and figure out the problem, and repeatedly told me not to worry about the situation, my dog could have easily lost her hearing permanently. This is wholly unacceptable. read more

My dogs LOVE the Offshore Animal Hospital! While that may be a stretch....I love the place! My pets go in nervous and come out relieved and happy. What ailed them leaves them and they are always more comfortable! I don't believe I've had a negative experience with Offshore Animal Hospital. I can say I love the care, compassion and patience of the entire staff. You know without a doubt they are at work to take care of your pets as they would their own. I love Offshore Animal Hospital. I am a year round resident and use many of their services. My dog Lyle goes to day boarding twice a week for socialization and play time. He comes home happy and tired. We use the overnight boarding when we go away and can't bring Lyle. The staff is wonderful- informed, caring and welcoming. The vets are all wonderful. I have had two dogs who were taken care of my Shanna Minior as the primary vet. My first dog was a rescue and had severe ear issues. Unlike the other reviewer's experience mine was amazing. Dr. Minior worked with me to maintain healthy ears even though Lily has ended stage otitis. Dr. Minior was caring and so knowledgeable. She had many ideas to help my dog. Lily was lucky to have such a fine vet. Lily has had Dr. Minior as a primary vet but he has also seen the other doctors. Dr. Howard, Dr. Fraker, Dr. St Pierre and Dr Tanguy are all great. He is very well cared for. The whole staff is welcoming, professional and always helpful. Julie, Emily, Marisol at the front desk greet us with smiles. Silvia, Maddie, Christine. Nikki and Danielle are are wonderful,technicians who make Lyle's appointments go smoothly. The boarding staff are fans of Lyle's and we are fans of them--Alison, Hannah, Brandi, Tia, Emma, and Kiara. The veterinarians at Offshore have been the official caretakers of all of my animals for many years and we just couldn't do any better. Each of the doctors has been involved in the various treatments, emergencies and general care of my dogs and each has provided thoughtful, personalized care. They are always conscious of the financial burdens that veterinary care can bring and are careful to be sure that reasonable steps are taken as needs progress so clients can make informed choices. My dogs have been treated there from as young as 8 weeks to a brave and happy 15, beginning to compassionate end, and every visit makes me more grateful to have them here on Nantucket. read more

Came in WITHOUT an appointment in the middle of the week because my dog had a bad ear infection and needed to be seen. The front office staff was very accommodating and were able to find an appointment for my dog to be seen that morning. Dr. Stacey Tanguy was awesome and took great care of my dog and his ear issue. She took the time to explain what she was doing and why, and was even sure to give us alternative options when it came to medications. As my summer on Nantucket comes to an end, I have been reflecting on all the positive people and places that I have been fortunate enough to meet and connect with over the last 12 weeks. One of those unforgettable places is the Offshore Animal Hospital and an extraordinary veterinary named Dr. Minior. In fact, her whole staff is amazing! We moved on island with our 2 dogs, Spirit and Libby knowing that they too would have an amazing summer by the beach, especially Spirit, our 14 year old wheaten terrier mix. Given Mr. Spirit's age and prior health conditions we knew that allergies might be challenging but we were willing to chance it for a great summer opportunity being all together. After a few weeks of being on island unfortunately the allergies did make Spirit especially uncomfortable. I immediately knew I needed to find him help. cut to: From the moment I called Offshore Animal Hospital to schedule the appointment to now, 6 weeks later, the service has been top notch. The staff professional and friendly and always ready to help. The staff even calls to check up on how Spirit is feeling days after each appointment. Dr. Minior's expertise reduced Spirit's bacteria infection by over 75% in under 2 weeks. I'm confident that if possible she would be able to heal the infection completely but given his age and his year of battling chronic disease, it might not happen...but we're trying. After seeing Dr. Minior and having had weekly medical baths, Spirit truly looks and acts like a puppy again. Being able to be free from all itching and discomfort makes both me and my dog extremely happy. The Dr. knew what to prescribe and nailed it. That's huge!!! As importantly to being very knowledgeable, her bed side manner in discussing his future and Spirit's reality as he enters his last chapter with me was filled with genuine sweetness and empathy. As much as the reality pains me of losing Spirit in the future she was able to comfort me. And I have known this doctor for less than 6 weeks. She was born with that special touch. So our summer is now coming to an end... Spirit has definitely enjoyed himself. :o) I'm hoping and praying that Dr. Minior and Mr. Spirit can meet again next summer!. I highly recommend this hospital for the summer or for those fortunate year round. read more

I've been taking my dog, Shellbie to see Dr. Minior since the practice began. Shellbie has severe anxiety and fear, but Dr. Minior treats her with compassion and a wonderfully gentle nature. Luckily, nothing major has happened that we've had to deal with, but I am completely at ease knowing that Shellbie is getting the best treatment possible. Plus, it's so comforting to know that Offshore is on the island in case of emergencies. They are available on-call every single day - a service that is exhausting for them. It would be a disaster if they weren't there. read more
