Lots of folks, lots of drinking and therefore lots of those who may have over-indulged. I was there with my wife, daughter and son-in-law, and we were enjoying ourselves, for the most part. We asked for a service that easily could have been denied in light of the environment of the event, however this gentleman looked at our party, the event in general and made an executive decision. We were thrilled by the outcome and although it was not my wife's and my first outing here, this experience has ensured we have moved it into our elite venues for entertaining. It's in a lovely location, with water views on either side of the indoor rectangular dining hall. They don't serve the outdoor area during the off season, which ends at the end of April. Plastic is used, totally understand. But my wine glass is really old, with two streaks running in different places, one of which looks dirty. So I went in and asked, "Can I at least get a newer glass?" I didn't mean the soda-qline glass, but she quickly poured my wine into a real glass, which is a Rona. I visited this restaurant on Saturday night around 6:30 p.m. with three other people, and we sat at the bar. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing from the start. When I asked the bartender what beers they had on tap, he told me to "look on the menu" and then walked away. I ordered a Corona in a can and asked for a glass so I could pour the beer into it. He was busy making drinks for other customers and told me, "Yeah, once I'm done with what I'm doing, I'll eventually get around to you." It took about 8-10 minutes just to get a glass. Later, I tried to pay my bill, but he ignored me and walked away. About 15 minutes later, he came back with a handheld payment machine. Overall, the bartender was extremely rude and dismissive toward us. As we were leaving, I spoke with a supervisor and explained what happened. His response was basically, "What do you want me to do about it? Just write what you've seen, and that's the best I can do." That was also disappointing and unprofessional. The whole place felt very strange. Earlier, when we asked about getting a table for dinner, the hostess said there were no tables available, even though the restaurant looked fairly empty and there appeared to be many open tables. The bar also had plenty of open seats. The outside of the restaurant looked dirty as well, with cobwebs and areas that appeared not to have been cleaned. It looked like they had opened for the season without properly preparing or cleaning the place. Overall, the service was rude, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, and the cleanliness was not what I would expect from a restaurant. It was a very strange and disappointing experience. read more

The food is a bit pricey though. But the drinks are good. Don't drive here bc parking for the Navy Pier will be pricey. Best to uber or take train or bus. 1 hour $21, 2 hours $36, 12 hours $47, 24 hours $65. But if you eat at one of the restaurants is $20 for 2.5 hours if they participate. The salmon poke bowl was really good. granted, it's not hard to mess this up. We had a reservation at 7:30 and they did close quit early, so we were the last ones there and it was a bit rushed. Their tap beer was also not working when we were there so that was a bit of a bummer. overall the restaurant vibe was quite empty and it was a rainy night, it was good - not great. It's a really nice place located at navy pier. I love the decor. The space is huge. We ordered their vegan mushroom pasta for $29, with extra $12 for an add on steak. This restaurant surpassed my expectations. I was visiting from Florida. We ate here two nights. It's spacious with food music. There is plenty of sitting inside and outside. The view is spectacular. Hate when OpenTable and TripAdvisor reviews paint a completely different picture than Yelp. We chose this place based on the OpenTable rating, and after eating here, Yelp's 3 star average made a lot more sense. I need to start trusting Yelp more. Yes, the view is nice but in Chicago, there are plenty of places with great views. A view alone doesn't justify the prices or overall experience. The inside of the restaurant honestly felt underwhelming and oddly empty for such a large space. The bar looked barely set up, almost like they had just opened for the day with minimal effort put into the atmosphere. We originally sat outside and immediately discovered where every mosquito in Chicago had apparently been hiding. The patio setup looked cheap and neglected.. more like random park tables with umbrellas than an actual upscale dining space. It also looked dirty and poorly maintained. We asked to be moved inside almost immediately. Food-wise, we ordered the ahi sushi roll and a hamburger. The sushi was honestly disappointing. Very small portion, visually unappealing, and extremely basic in flavor for a $29 roll. The quality just wasn't there. At this point, I need to remind myself Chicago probably isn't the place I'd choose for sushi. Definitely not worth the price. The hamburger was actually pretty good and ended up being the best part of the meal, but still nothing memorable compared to other places we've had. Overall, this felt like a restaurant relying heavily on the view and tourist traffic rather than quality food or atmosphere. We had a family dinner before sunset at Offshore this summer. It was great! We made a reservation and got an outside table with incredible views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline. The inside reminded me of a green house with the clear glass ceiling and walls. The outside patio is the star! Offshore is located at the very end of Navy pier on the east side. We had a little trouble finding the restaurant and had to ask if we were headed the right way a few times, but once we found it the views were spectacular. The restaurant is 21 and older after 9pm so we made sure and got a 7pm reservation since we had our kids. My daughter ordered their Lavender Sparkling Lemonade, which was so pretty and came with an orchid and my son had a virgin Pina Colada. He ended up spilling it and our server was so nice about it and brought him another one no problem. She was friendly and attentive the whole time. I ordered the Salmon Poke Bowl. It was a beautiful presentation, fresh, and loved it had watermelon in it. That's something you don't usually see in a poke bowl. My daughter had the Shrimp Po Boy and loved the sweet chili garlic aioli it came with. My husband ordered the Captain's Fish and Chips, Wow! The Fish and Chips was beer battered pike and it was a huge portion. You could definitely split this dish between two people. The batter was so good and we loved the house tartar sauce. I booked Offshore Rooftop for myself, my dad, and my sister - the latter both flying in for a weekend in Chicago. My dad had only been here for work trips many moons ago and my sister had never been here. It was so important to me to pick the best representations of the city for their short weekend here. I booked a reservation for 6:00pm on a Friday night for the three of us. We had been walking around downtown and Navy Pier and ended up ready to eat a little earlier than our reservation so we walked the (very long) walk all the way to the back of the pier to Offshore Rooftop to see if they could accommodate us earlier than our reservation time. The hostess was so kind and immediately was able to seat us. Almost every table is "against the windows" to have an epic view of the skyline no matter where you sit. The atmosphere was warm and lit in a way that didn't compete with the sunset. The service was incredible from start to finish. We had a great connection with one of the waitstaff who was from Florida, as well as over eating at Portillo's the next day. It felt so much more genuine than a typical more tourist focused experience would. The menu has so many good choices, with unique options! My dad chose the bread and butter pickle flatbread (you heard me!), my sister had the ahi tune poke bowl, and I had the prime burger. Food came out quickly and all looked picture perfect. The burger is like two smash patties, and this was an absolute beast to try and finish. The special sauce also delicious, the only condiment needed. Can I reiterate that this felt like a huge portion and I was stuffed (and defeated) before it was all over? The pickle flatbread was unlike anything I've seen before. It was a hit at the table and I especially loved the creamy dill spread/sauce that's at the base of the toppings. Another filling portion size. The poke bowl was beautiful, a stunning plate of color at the table, and the tuna was delicious. I don't generally go for seafood in Illinois, coming from seafood in Florida, but this was worth trying. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with how dinner went here and how it didn't feel touristy like I expected. This is a gem on the Navy Pier and I would absolutely come back. I don't know if I came at the wrong time or if it was the weather, but the place seemed very empty. I expected more from seeing pictures of this place as I was researching my trip to Chicago. I was greeted promptly and everyone there was extremely nice. Service was great and didn't have complaints about anything except liveliness of the place, or lack of. The drinks I had were good. I can't help but say great things about my shrimp salad. They didn't hold back on the shrimp and it was a real generous size of shrimp. My friend had the fish tacos and she loved them as well. I've visited the Offshore rooftop last Saturday. Paid parking is convenient as the location is at the end of Navy Pier. If you're not parking at the pier be prepared for a walk. The space is large, open and filled with natural light during the day. They were accommodating of our large party. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and everyone's food came out correctly. The food was tasty! I didn't have high expectations since it's such a touristy environment but I was pleasantly surprised. I had a burger, fries, and a Caesar salad. I had my fries upgraded into the truffle parm fries. I tasted zero truffle and just a lot of Parmesan cheese. The burger was juicy and fresh. I was really excited to visit Offshore after our early Mother's Day lunch for a relaxing cocktail with a view. We specifically chose it for the enclosed area with scenic views, and while we're still sitting at the bar now, I felt compelled to share our experience because it's been frustrating. When we arrived, we asked the host, William, if there were two seats available at the bar. His response was shockingly rude: "I can't seat you, the bar is full," he said flatly, without even checking. We could clearly see several open seats through the glass. When we politely asked if we could just take a look, he reluctantly allowed it--but not without giving us dirty looks and making rude comments under his breath. Sure enough, once we walked around the corner, we saw even more open seats than expected. Two kind hostesses nearby told us to go ahead and sit down, which we appreciated. Since then, we've watched William warmly seat other guests within seconds of their arrival--he even tried to seat a couple directly on top of us, which made them visibly uncomfortable. His behavior toward us has continued to be cold and passive-aggressive, casting a shadow over what should have been a relaxing outing. That said, the bartenders have been incredibly friendly and attentive, and they helped salvage the experience with great service. The views are stunning, and the drinks are excellent--my mom loved her espresso martini, and I enjoyed the lavender mocktail. Offshore has a lot of potential, but experiences like this make it hard to recommend. A place with this much beauty deserves a front-of-house team that makes all guests feel equally welcome. read more

Recently visited Offshore on a beautiful Chicago night, and it ended up being such a memorable experience. Located at the far end of Navy Pier, the restaurant offers stunning skyline views and a modern, spacious interior that sets a great vibe right away. Before getting into the food, I have to highlight our server, Regina -- she was the true star of the night. From start to finish, she was attentive, kind, and thoughtful. She anticipated our needs without hovering and made the evening feel genuinely special. It was also my birthday, and she surprised me with a dessert to celebrate -- such a thoughtful touch. Regina went above and beyond, and she's a big reason we'll be coming back. The food was overall solid. The chips, guac, and queso appetizer was the only slight miss -- the chips tasted a bit stale, the guac didn't seem house-made, and while the queso had good flavor, it was a bit too thick. Still, it was decent overall. It's the main reason I can't give 5/5. Everything else hit the mark. The burger was flavorful and well seasoned. My SO's shrimp tempura roll was fresh with excellent texture, and the fish and chips featured a large, perfectly fried piece of fish with crispy, well-seasoned fries. For the location and quality, the pricing felt very fair. Again, bartender made me feel like I shouldn't be asking and that it was extra work for her during a fairly slow Monday afternoon. Dressing came out. To our surprise, it was wrong. Blue cheese came out, and ranch was what comes with the Cobb. Never got the chance to correct it so we simply finished our salad as is. Cashing out: bartender never checked back in so we waited. We had wings as our starter & they were alright. The steak frites were also just ok. The steak didn't seem to be the right temperature & I though they overdid it with the seasoning. The truffle fries were the best part of the meal. The service was alright, there was a private event that may have been going on simultaneously so the staffs attention was somewhat elsewhere. We got the chips and dip trio which took a very long time to come and the queso was nearly hardened. We also split the prochuitto arugula flatbread which was basically red sauce pizza with proschuitto, arugula, and balsamic glaze. It wasn't very good and I haven't had red sauce under that kind of pizza before. The drinks were good but I was surprised they were served in dirty plastic cups. I am always on the hunt for a rooftop bar in every city I visit. This was on the second floor of a building on a pier downtown Chicago. We were taking a nice stroll,and saw this amazing fully covered glass rooftop and had to immediately go check it out. It was so beautiful and it kind of reminded me of a greenhouse minus the plants. We sat down at the bar, but there is options for normal seating for the kiddos. My husband and I both ordered a cocktail and hung around a bit and had a great conversation while admiring the views on both sides of the building. It was such a beautiful day so you can definitely check out what's going on in water. It's definitely been a busy boating weekend with the whole NASCAR race going on. I would definitely recommend taking the walk all the way down to the pier and checking out this amazing bar. If you wanna get a feel of not being in the city, I think this nailed it. read more

Now when it comes to the food, we can leave that in the kitchen. We ordered wings, fish & chips, and the Parmesan truffle fries. My wings tasted leathery and skin like texture. I only ate one and left the others to run across the road. My mom got the fish & chips and it was pretty bland. The Parmesan fries were the best dish and were $17. We had a great brunch here! We were a little nervous about some of the mixed reviews but decided to try it anyways, and we're so glad we did! Our waiter was excellent, checked on us often and really gave us great service overall. We ordered the burger, steak and eggs, and a Caesar salad to split and everything was great! We also ordered the bottomless mimosas which we felt was totally worth it! The setting was also really cool although we sat inside, I'm sure the views are even better from the outside area they didn't seem to be using when we were there, maybe because it was hot out that weekend so we didn't mind sitting inside! The only negatives are that finding the place was a little hard as some other reviews suggested, we understood where we were going in general but upon taking the stairs up instead of the elevator, a sign at the top of stairs said it was closed. We had a reservation so we decided to walk past it around the corner to check anyways and were glad to see a short line of people waiting to be seated, so they were in fact open and it seemed to be I'm not sure if most people take the elevator instead but just be aware of that situation maybe. Some of the food runners also seemed confused which tables some other orders were supposed to go and brought other orders to us a few times, not a big deal to us but I recalled seeing some other reviews mention this. I really loved coming here for dinner. However, the service made it seem a bit strange. This is one of the largest rooftop bars/restaurants and there is an absolutely gorgeous view of the city. Get reservations when you come here. To be honest, the restaurant w a half empty. Do you need reservations? Probably not. However, the hostess made a big deal about seating us without reservations. We waited an inordinate amount of time for tables. And even when multiple tables were empty, there seemed to be a lot of delays. Food is decent! If you want a great view of the Chicago skyline, visit Offshore Rooftop! I came here for an early birthday celebration and it did not disappoint. Even with us parking in the East parking garage, it still took us about 10 minutes to get to the venue. Offshore Rooftop is at the very end of the pier. If you have trouble walking, be prepared for the long walk. Take your time and give yourself some extra time when booking reservations. Once we arrived, we were seated promptly. We chose indoor seating - mostly because I have a thing about birds terrorizing me by sitting next to me or taking my food. Although we were indoors, the space has very large windows that you are able to get a great view from wherever you are sitting. You're host or hostess will also give you a pair of complimentary sunglasses. My buddy and I enjoyed some amazing drinks with cute names. We wanted to keep it light because we were eating dinner later, so we dined on some appetizers while enjoying our conversation and the amazing Chicago skyline. I got the burger which was decent, nothing special but it wasn't bad, I did think the +$1.50 for onions was a steep price.
