We had a great brunch here! We were a little nervous about some of the mixed reviews but decided to try it anyways, and we're so glad we did! Our waiter was excellent, checked on us often and really gave us great service overall. We ordered the burger, steak and eggs, and a Caesar salad to split and everything was great! We also ordered the bottomless mimosas which we felt was totally worth it! The setting was also really cool although we sat inside, I'm sure the views are even better from the outside area they didn't seem to be using when we were there, maybe because it was hot out that weekend so we didn't mind sitting inside! The only negatives are that finding the place was a little hard as some other reviews suggested, we understood where we were going in general but upon taking the stairs up instead of the elevator, a sign at the top of stairs said it was closed. We had a reservation so we decided to walk past it around the corner to check anyways and were glad to see a short line of people waiting to be seated, so they were in fact open and it seemed to be I'm not sure if most people take the elevator instead but just be aware of that situation maybe. Some of the food runners also seemed confused which tables some other orders were supposed to go and brought other orders to us a few times, not a big deal to us but I recalled seeing some other reviews mention this. I really loved coming here for dinner. However, the service made it seem a bit strange. This is one of the largest rooftop bars/restaurants and there is an absolutely gorgeous view of the city. Get reservations when you come here. To be honest, the restaurant w a half empty. Do you need reservations? Probably not. However, the hostess made a big deal about seating us without reservations. If you want a great view of the Chicago skyline, visit Offshore Rooftop! I came here for an early birthday celebration and it did not disappoint. Even with us parking in the East parking garage, it still took us about 10 minutes to get to the venue. Offshore Rooftop is at the very end of the pier. If you have trouble walking, be prepared for the long walk. Take your time and give yourself some extra time when booking reservations. Once we arrived, we were seated promptly. We chose indoor seating - mostly because I have a thing about birds terrorizing me by sitting next to me or taking my food. Although we were indoors, the space has very large windows that you are able to get a great view from wherever you are sitting. You're host or hostess will also give you a pair of complimentary sunglasses. My buddy and I enjoyed some amazing drinks with cute names. I got the burger which was decent, nothing special but it wasn't bad, I did think the +$1.50 for onions was a steep price. My espresso martini was bad though... and others in my group felt the same about their food (Caesar salad and burgers) and their drinks (lavender haze) as well. We were invited here for a private event recently. It's a cool rooftop with a great space and great views. I was really excited to get to come here and have been wanting to come here for a while. Not sure if things are different when they hold private events but majority of the bartenders that were working seemed to hate their job. Loved, loved, loved this experience. In all honesty, we we concerned about this being a Chicago "tourist trap" since it is at the Navy Pier. It is everything but. It was such a great way to take in the lake view while listening to the music from the love band on the pier. From the drinks to the views, our experience was outstanding. However, service was a little off putting. The server was sweet and very nice, the food runners didn't know what tables had what food, so I think he gave our food we ordered to the wrong table, and the drinks took a while for us to get. I think the restaurant itself is new so maybe a lot of kinks to workout, but we waited 45 minutes for a burger and a salad and two bloody Mary's. Just a lot of kinks to workout maybe and a very limited menu. Only about 8 items on the menu for lunch options. Offshore Rooftop is the place you want to take your friends from out of town. This restaurant is located in the perfect area, with views of Lake Michigan and the city. If you want dining with a view, this is it! I took my family here that were visiting from out of town and they really enjoyed it. They provide complimentary sunglasses in the morning/afternoon when the sun is out since the ceiling is glass and it can get very bright. The food is a bit overpriced, but it is certainly not bad by any means. I have only been here for brunch but it has all the staples and I enjoyed what food I got. Definitely a place you want to come if you are not from the area, since you can spend the rest of your time at Navy Pier and get some good pictures. read more

Offshore is the type of place you want to take your out-of-town friends to; it's located deep in Navy Pier which is a great tourist attraction, it's one of the biggest rooftops ever, and it's so dang pretty with its natural lighting and spacious lighting you already know you'll take some fire photos here. The food here is *chef's kiss*. I love their sushi which I was surprised about consisting this isn't a Japanese restaurant, but boy was it delicious! I also loved their mac and cheese bites, mezze board, parmesan truffle fries, and spicy tuna roll. They have tonsssss of indoor and outdoor seating with all the views. I've sat inside and outside before; I think I recommend outside more if it's not too hot of weather that day. But nonetheless, the natural lighting is immaculate inside. I came here for an event - and while I don't usually go to Navy Pier (moreso because I live in Chicago so less likely to go to some of the major tourist spots), I will 100% go back just to come here. First, I didn't even know Navy Pier had this amazing rooftop restaurant/bar, let alone one that holds a world record! The views are just dreamy and you feel worlds away from the touristy sights of Navy Pier. I see why this is a coveted event space. I can't wait to come back during winter too ... the rooftop has a sort of greenhouse indoor structure; I can just imagine how gorgeous it's gotta be during the winter when you're nice and warm inside but see everything outside. Sort of like being in a snowglobe. Second, the drinks - oh my goodness, the bar tenders are amazing mixologists. They had all sorts of recommendations and concoctions, something for everyone for sure. Third, the food - chefs kiss! Everything I had was just some well. But the HUGE standout was the Offshore team - especially Abe! Abe made sure we never went hungry, was so attentive and friendly and hilarious - I would literally go back to Offshore and specifically ask to sit in his section. Thank you Abe for elevating our experience - you made a grade A night into an A+++++! I can't wait to come back to try their brunch. They only gave us three plates and one silverware to start. There was very little lighting inside, so our table was very dark until we asked twice about additional lighting. They never asked us for last call for drinks either. The vibes were already off when he said we were lucky that we have 3 tables available for the 3 parties of us walking in, only to see that the restaurant is relatively empty. We got half a dozen oysters and they were very fishy and not fresh. It got to be a joke that they charge $3.50 per oysters of this quality? I also got the Kiwi Go Again cocktail which has a decent amount of liquor but no garnish at all. At least a kiwi slice on top would have been good. They really do not put in the effort to make things look pretty, to complement the aesthetics of the place. This place is a very big cash grab - instead of the standard 18-20% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, they automatically make it an 18% gratuity for checks over $100 which is very bad if you happen to want to splurge on some stuff that is over $100. I would avoid this place and just go to another rooftop bar even though with slightly different views. Or maybe just get something cheap and treat that as admission fee because the food is really inedible. read more

I've been coming to Offshore Rooftop for a while, and the food is still good no complaints there. A few months ago everything felt well maintained, but lately the cleanliness has gone downhill. The bathrooms have had a strong smell, and on my last visit there were no napkins or toilet paper available, which really shouldn't happen at a place like this. Another issue is the amount of bird droppings around the restaurant area. It's noticeable and takes away from the experience, especially considering the great views and atmosphere this place is known for. It's also not ideal to walk in and immediately see the cleaning staff mopping right where customers enter. it feels unsafe because someone could easily slip. In my opinion, the elevators and the rest of the building should be cleaned before guests start arriving, not during peak times. Offshore has a lot of potential and used to be much better in terms of cleanliness. if they can get the cleaning standards back to where they were, it would make a huge difference. read more

Notice how those tables are empty? They remained empty for the whole two hours we were there while we sat at a child's table that could barely fit our plates. The whole point of this restaurant is the view -- we got a great one of unoccupied tables that we were inexplicably not allowed to use. I spoke to three different people, including at least one manager, Clay, to ask for a table with a view (we were originally seated in the middle of the restaurant where my head was at eye level with the seats of the people at the bar. Clay said the best he could do was a tiny high top, so we took it. I guess they were saving the larger tables for their invisible large parties. Some friends and I visited offshore on the 4th of July! This was the biggest and most beautiful rooftop I've visited this summer of 2022. While esthetically pleasing to the eye , the food lack seasoning and quality. The prices were fair for where it's located.
